Eagle Witch
this story has mild cuddles, otherwise, it's a shitpost.
The edge of his blade fell against the magick ward and it rang like a heavy crystal. He was held back only by her force of will, her head lowered in concentration. Predator eyes peered out from under a broad witch's hat.
“You can't push forever," Pym managed, his teeth grit as he pressed his sword bodily against the ward.
The golden eagle said nothing, but pushed harder, her talons shifting against the rock surface they stood on.
“There's something I've noticed about you," he said.
Her eyebrows furrowed.
“I want to know, little wicken," he continued.
The ward began to falter, flickering in and out of existence. His eyes met hers.
“May I have a hug?"
Immediately her expression lightened, anger replaced by confusion.
“What?" she muttered.
The purple glow dissipated from the center out. The blade fell through. Eyes wide, she watched it cut toward her. Metal was not a half-second away from feather before Pym spun, catching the bird in his left, non-sword hand. They both collapsed to the ground.
As Natasha regained her bearing, she kicked and flapped in his grasp, squawking in protest. When he let go, she went forth with a few stray feathers fluttering behind her. Twisting mid-flight, she landed facing her opponent.
“Why would you say that?" she asked. The original power in her tone was unstable, punctuated now by a hardly tangible tremble.
Pym sat, crossing his legs, resting back on his hands behind him.
“What are you doing? Attack me!" she exclaimed.
He tilted his head, panting from exertion.
“Why the fuck would you ask me something like that?"
Looking her up and down he replied, “Because you're not a monster."
Her feathery chest heaved with the effort to fend off breathlessness.
“What the fuck am I supposed to say to that?" she asked.
He took his sword and set it down to the side. “Deep down, behind your hat, and your misused magick, this act you present, you're just a silly bird named Natasha."
Her avian shoulders sulked and the brim of her hat lowered, hiding her eyes. He watched her still form, watched her work through his words. In her magick, during his brief proximity, he had felt the flame of her anger, searing from the valves of her heart. But also there, he found a quiet, drooping sadness, a small pit reaching out at him with limp tendrils. Her magick burned, but it was cool in temperament. The cave before his arrival was dark, and it had reeked of weeping mist.
She stepped toward him, her posture remaining the same. And one step after another; she came. Pym straightening up, his hands on his knees. Her talons brushed his trousers.
Natasha placed a claw on his leg, pulling herself up onto his lap. As she did, she turned so that her back ended up pressed to his chest, her tail feathers against, frankly, his crotch.
Her body was light as it seated on him. For a moment he let her be. Still, she made no significant movements. Instead settling in with slow, assured motions. She sighed, and took off her hat with both wings, proceeding to let it go, the crooked black headpiece flitting to the ground in a crumple.
Without it, she was bare.
Flinching, the golden eagle once more relaxed as Pym's arms wrapped around her, pulling her in closer. In that spot in the cave alone, it was warm.
She leaned into him. “Who are you?"
His fingers began to play with individual feathers on her sides.
“A human from Souldon."
The play of the plumage was firm, but in texture, it was satiny. Shaking her head, she chuckled. “Liar."
“No, this world has no place for liars."
“You-" She stopped and shook her head again. “This wasn't how this was supposed to go."
“How was it supposed to go?"
“One of us should've died. There's no sensible reason that we both draw breath now."
She paused and craned her neck to look him in the eye. “You should've killed me. You had me at your blade's mercy. Why?"
“You're an inquisitive little bird, aren't you?"
She turned and settled back into his arms. “That doesn't answer my question," she replied defeatedly.
“Forget about the why for now, sometimes motivations are relatively useless for our purposes. Worry about this moment we share, for it will not last as long as your curiosity will."
Den they were silent.
"Wait Have you seen new hells kitchen episode." She said.
"What??! No I have not seen it"
"Hahaha, that's funny. Everybody has seen it."
His face was realization
