Part 2
For as far back she and the others can remember this land has always been theirs. Kazie remembers that Kazie and her's family history dates back hundreds of generations. Some of which were guards to royalty or served as hunters, scouts and mid-wives. Even their great grandmother served as a protector to their greatest chieftains. A century later their tribe's prosperity seemed to decline as members disappeared.
Kazie's family stayed until she and her little sister were all that remained. Taking what supplies and weapons they could the pair set off to find a new home. Due to Ketria's size and unrelenting strength no tribe would except either of them. Fortunately it was at the peak of the rainy season so shelter wasn't hard to locate. During a freak thunderstorm Kazie and Ketria came across a badly injured Lenecia.
After treating her wounds the trio continued to find a new place to call their home. Despite all they offered no chieftain would permit them to be a part of their tribes. Trying so hard not to give up, was also around the time Texra joined the troupe. A silent giant with a healer's touch she really earned her place during mating season. Being rogues every fertile male they met rejected their best attempts at seduction.
The past couple of years have been rough on them but, they never gave up hope. Now with the appearance of the human male James things have really turned around. What's strange is that Ketria has almost fully accepted James and what he's done. Granted in Kazie's eye he's been honest from the started but, he's still an unfit male. According to the standards her mother had for not only Ketria but, for her as well.
What proves to be frustrating is, there's something others see that she doesn't. Perhaps her heart doesn't want to learn anything more about this particular human. To make matters worse he's offering to give her and the others a fresh start. Seriously it wasn't enough to swallow her pride and surrender into his custody. Now this human wants to take all of them to some strange new place to begin anew.
Roaring out of frustration then Kazie slammed her fists violently into the ground. "Texra, Lenecia take James to the wagon and make sure nothing happens to him." Ketria said. Instead of expecting a violent encounter with Kazie only to hear her sister crying. For the first time in years the floodgates inside of her heart had finally giving way. Before Kazie or anyone noticed James approached her then hugged her neck.
Kazie's tear filled eyes suddenly snapped open upon feeling someone holding her. Naturally her first instinct was to push them away but, wound up doing the opposite. Coiling her powerful arms around the figure then Kazie whispered a soft thank you. "I'm so sorry for putting you through such an emotional roller coaster, Kazie. I merely wanted to give you and the others a better chance at finding happiness." James replied.
Pulling away to look up at James as her mind went frantic at what she was seeing. He was apologizing for putting her through all of this and wanted to fix everything. What happened next nobody expected to happen was for Kazie to kiss James. Even poor James was caught totally off guard by the kiss but, didn't fight it either. As the pair parted James backed up then rejoined everyone with Kazie close behind.
As they walked Kazie couldn't help admire the sheer strength of his heart. Despite what he lacked physically his concern for well being of others was amazing. Taking this as a sign that their lives were finally turning around after all this time. In addition to hearing James promise to help them start a new life in a far away land. Though one thing remained Kazie still had to discuss all of this with the others.
After all this involves them and they have a right to know about James' offer. Pulling them aside one by one seemed like the best way to tell her troupe the news. Though she'd wait until James was asleep before she went ahead and told them. Seeing as the human felt it was best that his offer come from her instead of him. Considering Ketria and the others trusted her more than James at the present time.
Even though Ketria is extremely interested in James but, unlikely as her life-mate. Odds are her affection towards him is merely a case of puppy love nothing more. True love was sort of a foreign concept to Kazie and the others except in stories. Looking towards her little sister where she was sitting besides James while he slept. Than again Ketria's attraction maybe purer than she's allowing herself to truly believe.
"Kazie, there's something on your mind perhaps mind sharing with the rest of us?" Texra said. The normally silent hyena of the troupe once again hit the nail right on the head. "You're insight into the hearts of others isn't without merit, Texra. The problem I face is how to tell you what James told me and not lose your trust." Kazie replied. Texra rose to her feet and grabbed her leader's wrist then escorted her elsewhere.
Once far enough away that nobody would get in the way or hurt the pair sparred. Practice fighting always helped Kazie clear her mind when faced with a problem. This time around proved different seeing this Texra decided to end their match. "Why don't you start from the beginning Kazie when all this uncertainty began?" Texra asked. Nodding alright the pair sat down and Kazie told her friend everything James said.
"A second chance at a new life is an offer that sounds to good to be true, Kazie. Though the human doesn't strike me as the type of person that would lie to us. Considering if he tried his life would've ended the instant we uncovered the truth. Now I can't speak for James but, the best course of action is to talk with him." Texra stated. Seeing the wisdom in her words the pair quietly rejoined the rest of the troupe.
When Lenecia and Ketria woke up for their turn at watch Kazie spoke with them. Telling them everything James shared with her and it got some mixed reactions. Naturally she told them why she didn't say anything sooner she wasn't sure herself. Fearing that if she had gone with her first instincts things could've turned ugly. Once the sun comes up she'll have a long chat with James before going anywhere.
First things first Kazie and Texra needed some sleep before doing anything. Sadly it didn't last when the sounds of someone screaming woke Kazie and Texra. Jumping to their feet, weapons at the ready but, learned they're totally surrounded. Before any blood could be shed James was already talking to their uninvited guests. Come to find out they happened to be the guardians of the Trade Grotto's territory.
"James we understand that they've surrendered but, they aren't welcomed. These rogues have been deemed a major threat to the peace of the Trade Grotto. We're under orders to kill them on sight but, since you have such high standing. Especially with many of the elder tribes we shall respect your pact with them. Keep in mind if any of them step out of line you'll be the first we execute." The captain stated.
"I understand Captain I'll be sure to keep a close eye on them during our stay. Though as a sign of good faith please take this wagon, it's full of needed supplies. The healers I asked to meet me here should have arrived or will be later tonight." James replied. The wild dog told him that several healers and apprentices arrived the night before. As two of his lieutenants approached the wagon Ketria gave them a subtle warning.
Kazie was quick to correct her sister and ordered her go stand next to Texra. Blinking in shock upon hearing her with a snort she did as Ketria had instructed her. Granted not overly happy about it but, smiled when they tried moving the wagon. Lenecia was more than happy to assist them in getting underway with a push. Not expecting one these rogues to help out but, were grateful for Lenecia's assistance.
With a clap the elite guards moved out leaving James and the others alone. "James we need to have a long talk and now seems like a perfect time to do so." Kazie said. He couldn't have agreed more with her as they found a spot to really talk things out. Sure enough that's exactly what James did by explaining his reasons for everything. Being watched by four powerhouses like Kazie and the others was intimidating.
When he finished James waited for Ketria, Lenecia and Texra to respond. Their silence wasn't making him feel all that confident until Kazie decided to speak. "I believe they're worried about their futures if we agree to come with you to the U.S." She stated. James informed them he'd escort them to the American Embassy in Kenya. Where they'd be given immunity from the African government then full citizenship.
Next they'd fly with him to the US and be given everything necessary to start fresh. Ketria was quick to ask if they'd still get to see one another once things are over. "I can't lie to you once given your new lives we will go our separate ways I'm afraid." He replied. Something about his answer bothered them and it showed on all of their muzzles. There's got to be a way for them to remain with James when his job is complete.
Unfortunately that was something James wouldn't have any sort of control over. Even though he would enjoy remaining in the company of these four lovely ladies. "I'm sorry but, simply won't do James I've grown rather fond of your company." Ketria said. Strangely enough Ketria wasn't the only one to share in her heartfelt sentiment. Lenecia and Texra joined in saying they've grown used to having James around.
Granted they've only known James for a short time but, it feels like a lifetime. Of course none of them wanted to lose him and in that moment Kazie felt something. It was almost like something was pulling upon the very strings of her heart. Shaking herself silly hoping that whatever the feeling was would simply disappear. Sadly all the action did was make this odd sensation grow stronger inside her.
Deciding to ignore this sensation for the time being seeing as there's work to do. "Alright, everyone let's move out the sooner we get there the faster we can get started." Kazie said. Her comrades and friends gave a nod then made their way towards the Trade Grotto. Where James' skills as a healer and negotiator are in demand upon arrival. Catching up to the elite guards a short time later impressing their veteran leader.
"I have to admit I wasn't expecting the five of you catch up with us so quickly." He replied. James apologized to Kazie ahead of time then asked Texra to pull the wagon. The two guards pulling the wagon moved aside so the larger hyena could take over. Next their jaws popped open as they watched her tow the wagon with such ease. "Thanks, Texra I'm sure they were getting tired hauling those supplies." James said.
She gave a smile as the group continued to the entrance of the Trade Grotto. Where an all to familiar face was pacing around like his loin cloth was set a blaze. His ears gave a twitch upon picking up on the sounds of a wagon coming towards him. Turning to source of the noise and saw the guards of the Grotto and a troupe of hyenas. As he looked upon them the poor young male froze where he stood as they passed.
"Well, look at you Ikeno the single women of your tribe must be all over you." James smiled. The sixteen year old male spotted hyena felt a wave of relief seeing, James. "You must be joking who'd want a scrappy young warrior like me for a mate." Ikeno replied. Lenecia approached, knelt down before him then placed a hand on his shoulder. "Be patient young warrior she'll find you when the time is right." She pointed out.
It was sound advice though James could tell that Ikeno hadn't heard anything. Considering his gaze was focused directly at Lenecia's big barely covered breasts. Perhaps during their stay James can trade for some better clothes for everyone. Sadly their clothes were barely hanging on their bodies due to their poor condition. As they traversed through the market place Ikeno filled James in on what's happening.
Since they arrive last night the healers and their apprentices have been working. They've managed to stabilize most of the injured without any of the medical supplies. Now that they're here and with James' surgical skills they'll be on the road to recovery. "I need a favor Ikeno could you please go to the market and buy some new clothes. As you can see Kazie and her friends clothes really need replacing." James said.
"Sure I'll take care of it, umm would you ladies prefer anything in particular?" Ikeno asked. Kazie told him anything durable and will fit Ketria, Texra and Lenecia's stature. "Trust me, women like your comrades there are a pretty common sight around here. So the shops in the market place have plenty of garments that'll fit." He added. James asked Texra to stop this way he could give Ikeno items to trade for clothes.
Once in hand Ikeno took them to the nearest shop that sold clothes and armor. Meanwhile James and the others reached the tent where the injured were residing. Not wasting time James washed up and began treating those that needed surgery. Ketria, Lenecia and Texra helped where they could while Kazie stood there watching. She was frozen watching everyone work it wasn't until someone grabbed her wrist.
"Kazie, please come with me the tailor needs someone that knows their measurements." Ikeno said. Kazie was quick to inform him that she's not permitted to leave James' sight. "Since James is busy I'm placing my trust in you to stay out of trouble." The captain replied. His expression told the hyena that her life is on the line should something happen. Giving him understanding nod Kazie turned around then followed Ikeno.
To pass the time Kazie asked the young warrior how he and James met each other. He was more than happy to tell her that story hoping she'd learned more about him. Kazie hadn't expected the young male to give her so much information on James. "Sounds like you think the world of that human but, the question is why?" She said. He told her that if wasn't for him, his tribe would've been wiped out years ago.
"The great fire displaced a lot of tribes, took many lives and ruined our great land. Even our crops were destroyed Marcel and James his trainee at the time helped us out. With their help along with supplies donated by the Peace Core many tribes survived. Marcel and James were made honorary members of my tribe and fellow tribes. It's why he's given the respect and regard when he visits these lands." Ikeno stated.
"Surely he's not as perfect as you're making him out to be young warrior?" She stated. He was quick to tell her James wasn't, he does have his faults just like everyone does. Though the human seems to keep those close to the vest to keep from getting hurt. "Now that I mention it something does seem to be off with my friend. It's almost like before coming, he experienced such a wound." He replied.
Kazie's eyes went wide upon hearing that and everything finally came together. Ketria sensed James heart was broken hence her behavior, she was comforting him. Now feeling like a big jerk and will apologize after their done visiting with the tailor. This proved far more interesting when they arrived and the tailor began measuring. Being the smallest of the four Kazie, wasn't hard to be fitted for her new clothes.
Though it was beyond awkward for the tailor since her curves were so bountiful. Keeping himself in check as he finished measuring Kazie seeing as it proved tricky. "I should have your new clothing ready in a few moments if you'd like to wait. Also could you have the other members of your troupe stop by here if that's alright. It'll be a lot easier for me when I have the exact measurements to work with." The tailor said.
"That's fine her troupe is currently busy helping with the sick and wounded. I'll make sure they come here so you can measure them for their new garments." Ikeno replied. Nodding alright the tailor walked into the rear of the shop and began working. While they waited Kazie rested her eyes and folded her arms under her large bust. Ikeno leaned against the far wall and watched the goings on out in the market.
Twenty minutes later the tailor emerged holding Kazie's new attire in his hands. Placing the new garments on her lap and permitted her to change in the backroom. Standing up then she walked into the back where she took off her old clothing. Taking a moment to examine her bare body then briskly brushed out all of her fur. Kazie slipped on the leg and arm bracers on first followed by the panties and skirt.
The top proved a bit tricky since it had a single strap that went from right to left. Though it still showed off plenty of cleavage but, made her tits look really perky. A couple of adjustments fixed that problem as she put her belt with knife back on. Next she slung up her bow and quiver pouch across her chest then rejoined Ikeno. Both Ikeno and the tailor nearly fell out of their seats as she walked over to them.
Her new clothes fit her frame quite well yet, granted her full range of motion. Paying the tailor the amount they had agreed upon then return to the medical tents. Where Kazie subbed for Lenecia while she followed Ikeno to have her clothes made. She took it upon herself to assist the tailor when it came to making her outfit. It was knee length skirt split up the sides and a rather strange looking halter top.
A wide strap came up the back to wrap around the neck, tied together with a clasp. "You have to forgive me for asking I've never seen an outfit like this before. Could you please tell me where you're from my dear it's obvious your not a local?" The tailor asked. Lenecia told him that wasn't something she was willing to share at the moment. To show her thanks she gave the older painted dog a soft kiss on his right cheek.
Texra was happy with a simple a chest wrap, shorts and leather forearm gauntlets. When it came time for Ketria, the tailor had never seen a female of her standards. Granted Lenecia and Texra were unique but, neither warrior were like Ketria. He decided to make her outfit special much like she was right down to the fabric. By the time the tailor finished the clothes he made were a direct reflection of her.
Even when she went into the back and put them on Ketria became excited. Once dressed she rejoined the others but, wasn't expecting to see her sister, Kazie. Looking at her with pure shock on their faces but, it was James' that surprised her. Apparently the painted wild dog did such a great job it left the male human speechless. He had made her something that was functional yet, looked like a traditional outfit.
Thanking the painted dog for all of his hard work before he went back to his store. From there everyone went back inside and wasted no time returning to work. The group worked tirelessly until the very late hours of the night before stopping. All the tribal healers, James included literally were sleeping where they stood. Ketria picked the human up into her powerful arms, sat down and held him close.
He shuffled a little bit in her arms resting his head snuggly upon her right breast. Come the morning when everyone wakes up they'll be in for quite the display. Kazie woke a couple of hours before the sun even thought of rising into the sky. Looking around to check on her troupe then saw Ketria holding James in her arms. It was an adorable scene but, this sort of thing might be frowned upon in this place.
Doing the smart thing she fetched a blanket large enough cover the sleeping pair. Being unsure of all the laws of this place she played it safe until she knew more. Though Kazie couldn't deny seeing them together as something she once desired. Learning about James has proven to be one enlightening experience after another. Her pride and stubbornness prevented her from seeing just how wonderful James is.
Right from the start Ketria, Lenecia and Texra have seen the human's true self. What did Kazie do act like a royal bitch with her spear wedged up her tail hole. The sun soon began to peak up over the mountains filling the land below with light. Not long after that life in the Trade Grotto slowly came to life as shops opened up. Kazie watched as the market place filled with people shopping for bits and bobbles.
Without warning Kazie's ears picked up on a disturbance going on nearby. She didn't want to disobey and leave his side but, someone might've been hurt. Dashing off towards the source of the noise hoping to catch who ever in the act. Little did anyone one of the tribes Kazie and others raided heard of their location. They've come to the Trade Grotto seeking revenge for the damage they had caused.
Fortunately when Kazie took off like she did James was slowly coming around. When he noticed through his semi-open eyes Kazie suddenly leaving the medical tent. His gut told him that something was a miss and he should chase after the warrior. Climbing out of Ketria's arms as gently as he could without waking the woman. Since she was sound asleep as James gave chase hoping Kazie wasn't getting into trouble.
She just helped a store owner catch a thief that stole some fruit from their stand. Upon seeing the state of the young child Kazie paid for what the child had taken. Next she talked the store owner into hiring the child to helping out at her store. Explaining that a child shouldn't have to steal just to have a meal in their stomach. "How utterly pathetic a wanted criminal that actually cares for others." A voice said.
Quickly spinning around in the direction of the voice and scowled at who it was. A strong snarl rumbled in her throat then had the store owner take the child away. Doing as the hyena suggested while she dealt with these demons from her past. Unfortunately she recalled leaving all of her weapons back inside the medical tent. Being out numbered six to one the odds weren't in the warrior's favor at the moment.
Oddly enough she's been in this kind of situation before and knew what to do. What she didn't know was there were two more warriors that were lurking nearby. Taking great care to remain hidden while waiting for the right moment to attack. At six foot nine inches tall, Kazie may not have size but, she's far from a weakling. She had almost a perfect balance of power and speed behind her buff physique.
In the time it took for them to blink Kazie rushed forward and struck the leader. Smacking him in the snout with the back of her fist knocking him to the ground. Next she swung both arms out hitting both warriors on either side in one motion. The three remaining warriors were quick to react but, ended up kissing the dirt. For some reason none of them seemed all that interested in getting to their feet.
Something about all of this didn't feel right sadly it was already too late for her. Kazie's senses pinged as the two warriors that were hidden finally made their move. Time seemed to slow down as she turned to defend herself from this sudden attack. Without warning one of the warriors received a hard blow to the side of the skull. Sending him reeling hard into the ground then Kazie felt herself being pushed aside.
The last thing that she saw was what looked like James coming to her rescue. When she was able to open her eyes again her attackers vanished from the area. Slowly rising to her feet just as the Grotto's guards rushed past chasing her attackers. As she looked around for her savior and found James lying on the ground motionless. Sticking up from his torso was a long bladed spear that's when her blood ran cold.
Scrambling to the human's side even going so far as to push people out of the way. Feeling a little relieved the spear had just missed his heart but, he could still die. Kazie knew that removing the blade would cause James to quickly bleed to death. Leaving the blade inside but, snapped the spear's handle off then picked him up. Rushing as fast as her feet could carry them safely to the hospital before it's too late.
To be continued.
