Inspired by Teiirka’s Treed artwork and story which you can find here! https://www.furaffinity.net/view/52227996 . Please give it a look.

This is a very very short adult story (idea #274) about a woodsman in search of whoever stole a chicken from him. However he stumbles upon someone entirely different than he expected. There’s not much else to it, although I can imagine part of a sequel idea. If you like a very short adult idea then this may be enjoyable for you. This barely surpassed my minimum word count for a submittable story at 4736 words in total! The lovemaking scene was the very last part I wrote.

As a side note I used cougar, puma, and maybe mountain lioness interchangeably throughout the story. I never knew which one to use since they all basically mean the same thing to me. I certainly don’t write about them enough.

Edit: thank you for pointing out typos

The soft crunching of damp leaves was soft and quiet beneath a pair of boots. Fresh rainfall from the previous evening and night left the greenery in a bright and refreshing state. A strong peaty woody smell was thick in the damp air, and the cloud cover gave the forest floor a somewhat darker, mysterious appearance. The occasional chirping of a bird echoed from nearby as well. All of these sensations were commonplace for Adam during any given day.

Living solitary in the woods was nothing new for the man. It was the lifestyle he had chosen for himself a little more than a year ago. There was less commotion, no unnatural noises, and less contact with people. He was brought intimately close with nature herself and had to rely on her rather than another person working in an office. However, he didn't have a fantasy about living in paradise. It took effort and plenty of work to live remotely in the forested mountains.

The poor weather hadn't deterred last night's intruder who made off with one of his chickens. He had never dealt with any trouble like that before. There were no clues left behind, not even a single set of tracks to correctly identify the thief by. His eyes kept moving, watching for signs of along the forest floor where the thief could have had gone. However, there was very few, if any, signs for him to track down.

'I'm certain a coyote is the cause of all this.' He thought to himself. 'Or maybe a fox.' The potential list of culprits was short for a reason. His actual neighbors were very far and few between. There were no black bears in the area to his knowledge, and a raccoon wouldn't steal a chicken. He couldn't think of any other species that would've been the perpetrator. There certainly couldn't have been a human who did it. The human wasn't expecting to capture the chicken thief, but he wanted to know who did it, and be better prepared to prevent future thefts.

As Adam walked, the screeching calls of an unseen red tailed hawk from the sky silenced nearly every other bird call in the forest. He had seen little wildlife, aside from pesky gnats, but heard plenty of noises all around him. He hadn't spotted any deer either, although droppings weren't difficult to come by. A moth harmlessly fluttered by before landing on tree bark to hide.

“The storm from several years ago really changed up the area." Adam had a difficult time seeing very far in several directions at any given moment. Saplings had grown up where old trees had fallen and the natural pathways twisted around in snakelike fashion. Faint game trails were visible for a brief moment when glanced at the right angles, but immediately became invisible once again after passing by. The lay of the land was rarely flat for more than a dozen or so paces. Living in the mountains meant nearly everything was on a slope of some kind. Seeing over subtle bends in the land, over the crests of hills, or into thickly wooded valleys were creeks snaked made it all the more difficult to track. Every other tree or bush could've been a perfect hiding place.

Looking around, his brow furrowed with concern at the prevailing silence. He understood why birds would quiet down after hearing a hawk, but nothing seemed to utter even the faintest whisper. An almost eerie feeling crept over his skin.

'Am I being watched?' Adam wondered but continued along despite his concern. It was not the first time he had felt that sensation in the forest, and there likely was an unseen animal watching from afar. The human arrived at the muddy embankment of the creek lined with wild grasses and ferns. Anyone could've laid down and virtually disappear from sight.

Adam grumbled to himself and meandered around the edge of the water to a thin muddy strip that wasn't covered by the extensive foliage. Crouching down, he could plainly see various animal tracks, mostly deer, but one fresh half print leading into the water caught his attention. He couldn't tell exactly who or what, but someone had been in his exact spot a very short time ago. A small feather rested on the soft mud beside the partial print. It wasn't a chicken feather, but it was a feather nonetheless.

The human looked up and made up his mind. The sign led him across the creek and up a steep embankment. Once Adam climbed to the top, he found himself along an elevated area. Looking over his shoulder, he could see some of the creek and forest floor down below. The sudden soft snapping of a damp stick turned his attention ahead. Intrigued, he moved forward and quickly scanned the trees and thickets. Ignoring the few gnats buzzing around him, his ears strained to hear what he couldn't see. The sound of leaves crunching ahead made his heart race.

He quickened his pace, and swiftly climbed over a fallen tree. He followed wherever the sounds and perceived sights led him. He was very close! Adam quickly ran ahead and tore through the foliage, swatting away green leaves and small saplings, while ducking around larger branches and hopping over a fallen rotting log. He could sense how close he was to whatever was in front of him.

'I've got you!' His eyes widened as he sprang into a small clearing on the forest floor. However, his legs came to a grinding halt and his face froze. The human found himself all alone without any sign of someone else in the area.

“What the…" Adam looked around the empty spot in confusion only to feel the unsettling chill that he was being carefully watched. It was as if he had been chasing an invisible ghost.

'I can't be losing my mind. I heard something just ahead of me!' He looked around but found nothing, except for the trunk of a very large and sturdy pine tree. Kicking a pine cone, he slowly stepped forward towards the pine only to stop on pure instinct. His muscles tensed and skin crawled on high alert. His eyes stared with focus at the base of the mighty pine tree and then gradually lifted. The tree towered higher than the surrounding trees of the forest.

His senses flared to life once again as he discovered someone watching him from above. Instead of a coyote or fox, a larger figure loomed above him from a higher perch. Resting on a low branch several feet up from the forest floor was a female cougar. Her anthropomorphic build was graceful, yet dangerously powerful.

“Oh…" His voice trailed away, completely deflated.

“Oh?" Her voice replied back with intrigue as she fully turned to face the human down below. Her feline eyes stared down at him with curiosity and eagerness. Adam felt petrified as he fell under her golden eyed gaze. His heart raced as he needed to make a quick decision, but his body was frozen. The human was only armed with a knife, and the cougar looked very dangerous.

'Move. Move!' His thoughts screamed to his tightened muscles. The subtle sound of claws gripping tree bark managed to snap him from his stupor. She instantly leapt from the tree with terrifyingly graceful speed. With a mere moment to react, Adam drew out his knife and jumped back. She landed directly before him with an audible whooshing thud. Using momentum, she sprung back up from the ground and leapt at him. They collided, knocking Adam to the ground. He narrowly missed her with the sharp metal blade, but a sharpness raked along his upper arm. Noticing his knife in hand, she growled aggressively and bared her fangs. The cougar backed off as he struggled to sit up and defend himself.

Both of his sleeves had been torn, and the was a fresh cut on his arm hurt, but it wasn't life threatening by any means. Her front rose and fell with heavy yet well measured breaths. She could easily strike again, and he'd be lucky to land a decisive blow. Then again, what were the odds that she wouldn't give him a mortal wound? She only needed one chance out of ten claws and a mouth of sharp teeth.

“Just kill me already if that's what you're-!" He blurted out only to clench his teeth shut. The sudden terror and fear had gotten to him, causing the human to choke up.

“Kill you?" She gave him a perplexed look. “You're the one chasing after me!"

“You were walking around and running from me!"

“You are trespassing in my territory!" She retorted. “You crossed the creek and followed after me." He was taken aback by her words.

“I wouldn't have followed if you hadn't killed one of my chickens!" He fired back.

“I have stolen a chicken, goat, or maybe even a sheep or two; but none from you." She glared at the human.

“What? How can I trust someone like you?" He scowled at her.

“Your scent is… unfamiliar to me." She licked her pink nose. “I have never been close to your home, and I have never stolen anything from you. You seem to be the one who has sought me out." She countered.

“But I found you, and the feather-!" He stated only to notice that her long hair was adorned with a few feathers tied with thin leather strips. Both of them looked at one another in confusion.

“So if it wasn't you, then who stole my chicken?" He wanted to know.

“How would I know?" She stubbornly answered. Adam was left sitting on the ground in disbelief. He had ended up tracking the wrong person and nearly had himself killed in the process. The mixture of regret and embarrassment washed over him like a wave.

“Sorry." He murmured, realizing it had all been a mistake on his part. The cougar scoffed at the sudden apology but relaxed her stance somewhat.

“Who are you anyway?" She asked.

“ Adam. I live at the home across the creek and up towards that way." He pointed over his shoulder. “What were you doing here close to my home?"

“I told you that this is my territory." The cougar pointed at the ground. “This is the part of the forest where I live."

“Then why were you outside of your territory?" He didn't understand. The cougar's ears flattened as she glanced around the forest for a moment. The feline almost appeared bashful in the moment.

“It isn't a pleasant time of year for me." She admitted. Adam looked at her questioningly until she began to elaborate a little bit more.

“Humans don't understand, but a cougar like me will go through heat once a year, and it can be a stressful time."

“What?" Adam hadn't heard of that before. “What is that?"

“Think of a woman's time of the month, but all of it is condensed into one time for the entire year, and you… really need to satisfy those urges." She emphasized the point by flexing her claws.

“Oh… oh!" His eyes widened for a moment as he understood what she meant. “So you were searching for someone else to…"

“Yeah." She rubbed the back of her neck.

“Okay." Adam slowly nodded and didn't know what to make of what they were talking about. He was still jittery from running into her in the first place. Moreover, Adam was almost painfully aware that the cougar was standing completely naked before him. She didn't seem shy at all about not covering up, but then again, did anthropomorphic beings such as herself feel the need to wear anything while having a fur coat?

Although, in the back of his mind he was glad that she didn't wear anything. Her curvy feline figure was very attractive. Blinking twice, he noticed that she seemed to be grinning directly at him. A different kind of nervousness formed in his stomach, but his heart was beating quickly all the same.

Far above the canopies of tree branches, the stubborn clouds were parting. The bright sting of sunshine unexpectedly broke through the tree tops and caught his unguarded eyes. Squinting, he moved a hand to cover his eyes, but that was a mistake. The cougar pounced yet again with the human completely unguarded. She grabbed his wrist and forced him to drop the knife. His other shoulder was pinned firmly to the ground.

“Hey-!" He held up an arm, half certain that she'd attempt to kill him. The cougar blew an agitated sigh at his reaction.

“Now's not the time to play games with me, unless it's a game I want to play." She flexed her claws and not so subtly dug into the fabric of his shirt.

“Careful! Your claws!" He gritted his teeth and remained still.

“I'm not exactly having an easy time with my heat either." She spoke breathily overtop him. “You know, there's no one else here…" Her voice dropped to an alluring whisper. Adam felt himself start to sweat as his heart lodged into his throat.

“Look, if I'm going to help you… at least let me help." He didn't like the idea of the cougar forcing herself onto him like an object.

“Sure," she purred, “if you can handle me." The excited feline eased off him a little bit. Adam found himself with some space to breathe but only just enough. Hands worked to unfasten his belt, and the metal soon jingled freely. Once the button was unfastened, his pants were pulled down after a few fierce tugs. The cougar had the honor of quickly removing his undergarment next. A subtle ripping sound from her claws worried the human, but didn't concern her.

“You wear too many clothes." She complained but straddled his bare legs nonetheless.

“You don't wear any." He quipped.

“They'd only be in my way." The cougar didn't wear anything, not a single thread of clothing. But her beautiful brown hair that grew from the back of her head and neck was braided in a few places with little downy feathers. It gave a wild touch to her natural beauty.

“You don't need any more help do you?" She eyed him and drew a hand up her side before slowly cupping a breast. His eyes watched with keen interest as her fingers ruffled through fur, and caressed the soft mass. She lifted it and rubbed a firm pink nipple before pulling her hand away, allowing the fully rounded breast to drop naturally.

“Give it a try." She encouraged him and placed one of his hands beside her navel. He needed no further permission and gently ran his fingers along her torso. Her white fur was not only very soft and thick, but warm to the touch. However, his eyes were focused on the beautiful prize hanging freely above him. Both of her lovely breasts were completely covered with the natural coat except for two prominent pink nipples poking freely from the fluff. Inching ever so higher, he brushed up again the cusp of her breast before slowly rubbing his entire hand over the top. His palm drew over the firm pink nipple tenderly.

The cougar pleasantly sighed, but the human found himself enjoying the intimate caresses even more than the feline. He felt his heart beating faster within his chest. Meanwhile, a tan furred hand trailed lower from his chest down to his groin where she pleasantly found his arousal already rising up on its own. Uninterested in foreplay, the feline gave him a gentle stroke. The warmth and texture of her furry fingers and leathery palm was unlike anything else he had ever felt before.

“Mmm!" Adam quietly grunted and arched his back as his member jump stiffly in response. She had nearly taken his breath away with a single touch of her own.

“Ready?" She leaned forward and asked. Face to face with the crafty cougar, Adam wasn't sure if he should still be afraid of her or not. He nodded and she grinned while lining herself up. He could not see through her dense downy fur, but a glimpse of pink made his length throb. What was coming felt instinctual, unprocessed by conscious thoughts.

“Just lay still…" The cougar's tail swayed hungrily behind her as she lowered herself. The first kiss of heat onto his manhood made him suck in a heated breath.

“Oooh." He softly moaned as she wiggled her hips, letting her folds part to accommodate him. She was already wet, allowing him to glide into her tight entrance. Each pressing inch brought them closer. Her walls felt hot, incredibly hot like a burning fire.

“Mmm!" Her face contorted with a mix of desire and relief as she took him to the hilt. Her head rolled as her muscles flexed and then twitched. Adam continued running his hands over her white furred front, but without any warning, or even opening her eyes, she started grinding her hips against his own. He quickly held onto her legs to remain steady as her white furred breasts bounced above him.

“Ohh my!" She crooned as if she had been cured of every ailment known to man. Gasping, she slowed her breakneck pace and then stopped altogether. Adam kept a less frantic rhythm below the cougar, causing her to gently bounce in his lap.

“Aaaagghahh!" Her cry rivaled the crack of thunder. She bared her fangs and arched her back only to immediately grab his chest. A sharpness penetrated his mind as her claws gripped his flesh without warning. Ignoring the pain, he held her powerful legs and keep going. As if briefly tamed, the cougar hunched forward and resume riding him with wild abandon. Her hot breath hit his neck like steam from a hissing teapot. She managed to lick him several times without biting him. Her tongue felt rough on his bare skin, just like sandpaper, but far more pleasurable.

Adam could only grapple with the beast atop him. There was no point in speaking beyond grunts. The lustful growls and cries of blissful agony echoed in his ears like a battle between angels and demons in heaven. The cycle of her erratic motions kept him guessing, unsure where to expect another cut from her claws or pause in her bucking. She might as well have been in a trance, lost in the throes of her own desires and passion. Her hips rose and fell gracefully with the help of her slim torso and strong legs. Adam could barely keep up and held her like a sheet being tossed in a Sunday storm.

“Hhhuhrrahhagh!" She stopped to yowl like a banshee. Sensing that she was at her end, he grabbed her rear and gave a resounding thrust, bringing their bodies as close together as possible.

“Hraaayyaaawowoll!" She cried out in a howling ecstasy that brought shivers up and down his spine. The cougar bucked on top of Adam, and he immediately came with equal force. Each pulsating burst felt far too good to be real, but it all quickly came to an end like falling down from an unbelievably high jump into the crisp air. Both of them were left panting heavily from the intense lovemaking. The only words shared between them were silence even as a few birds chattered in the treetops around them.

Adam blinked at the fact he had a naked cougar laying on top of him in his arms. He felt his heart strongly beating within his chest, with her own bare chest pressed against him. The treetops above him weren't spinning, but his head felt like it was floating up towards the sky. The feelings both physical and emotional were indescribable. The passionate moment was unlike anything he had experienced before.

It was odd, but laying on the forest floor with her felt wonderful. The sun was shining on them, and the warmth was more than cozy. The way her fur and body heat felt and radiated across his skin; and the way her whiskers teased him were loving. It was better than sleeping in a hammock with a gentle spring breeze blowing. The cougar emerged from the lovely haze of afterglow first and gradually rose up onto her forearms. Adam could not help himself and rubbed both of her breasts hanging over him. The cougar paused and purred.

“Keep that up and I'll need to do this all over again." She playfully warned him. A glimmer in her golden cat eyes backed up the threat. The human grinned and withdrew his hands from her bosom. Adam ruffled his hands through her fur and tenderly rubbed her shoulders instead. She sighed pleasantly and gradually broke off their contact and sat up.

“Thank you. I really needed that." Her voice was a little jittery. “I really appreciate it." She cleared her throat, and began flattening her now ruffled and disheveled fur.

“If you needed something like that again then I can help, it sure beats trying to fight you."

“Heh. Thanks." She half grinned and stood up with him. “I'll hold you to it." The feline winked. Adam felt his heart skip a beat as he pulled his pants up and refastened his belt.

“You have dirt all over your back." She stepped around and helped wipe him clean.

“Oh. Thanks." He waited for a moment while she tended to him. “You look good even when you're messy though."

“Hah. Thank you." She half heartedly spoke.

“No, I mean it." He was earnest. The puma stepped back around and faced him once again.

“I appreciate it. I'm sorry about nearly maiming you earlier." She looked at his clothing and apologized.

“Don't feel too guilty about it. I should've said something first rather than react." He rebuffed her. Adam touched his shirt and realized she had given him more than a scratch while making love. Several cuts and tears revealed his skin like a tattered pirate flag in some places.

“Sorry about your clothes." Her round ears cutely fell back in apology.

“No, it's fine. You didn't cut my skin too bad, but I think this shirt has seen better days." He remarked and poked his entire hand through one hole.

“Heh." The cougar did her best not to smile, but poorly hid the fact. Adam found himself smiling as well. The two started laughing together, and it lasted for an entire moment.

“What is your name?" The human asked.

“Pamuya."

“Pamuya?" He said her name aloud. “I like it."

“It means water moon. What about you?"

“I'm Adam."

“That's a human name." She wiggled her nose indifferently only to softly grin. “I think it's nice." Adam grinned at the small compliment. He glanced up at the dappled sunshine broken by the canopy above. Some time had passed, and he hadn't expected to be in the forest for so long.

“Well… uh, I guess I'll see you around if I come by this way." He said his goodbyes.

“I suppose." She shrugged. “I promise that I won't pounce." She sweetly half grinned. “You take care."

“Haha, glad to hear that." The human waved and they turned their backs simultaneously. The human and cougar parted ways cordially after nearly killing each other less than half an hour ago. Adam found himself trying to sneak peeks over his shoulder before walking into the thicker foliage once again.

'I'll be sore tomorrow.' He acknowledged with a subtle smile and rubbed the back of his neck. Adam secretly hoped to see her once again some day as his footsteps softly echoed over the damp leaves towards home.

Adam had managed to return home in one piece just before nightfall. Unsurprisingly, he took the entire following day to rest, and write down the whole experience in a journal to remind himself it hadn't been a fever induced dream. The sensations of her body heat, soft fur, rough tongue, and sharp claws still made his skin tingle from time to time. However, all of those subtle sensations paled in comparison to the passions they shared the other day.

Footsteps tiredly scuffed across the cabin's wooden floor. Adam was retiring to bed as a storm rolled in for the night. Lantern in hand, the light guided him every step. The cut on his arm was noticeably bandaged up.

'I hope she's right about my wounds healing up.' He eased over into the bedroom with soreness still lingering within his legs. The lantern was set down on a small nightstand. Laying down, he relaxed in the the softness of his bed. The only thing missing was the sound of a crackling fire, but the gentle rumbling of thunder in the distance and pattering of rain was a good substitute. His mind began to wander for a little bit.

“I still never caught that chicken thief." He mumbled to himself with a faint grin. Although, he wouldn't trade the experience he had with the cougar for anything. Tangling with her had left him with faint scratches that would ultimately heal, but the feline had left quite an impression on his heart. Adam hadn't even cut the lantern off yet when a loud tumbling thump rumbled within the house. The human's eyes opened wide just before a flash of lightning radiated from the closed window.

'What was that?' Adam jumped out of bed, lantern in hand and opened the bedroom door. A trailing boom of thunder masked his clumsy steps. Hurrying into the kitchen, a flash of lightning illuminated the entire room for a brief moment. A chair had been knocked over and the table was moved a little bit. A small door mat was also bunched up with droplets of water on the floor. He was taken completely by surprise to see a lovely familiar feline figure standing inside his home, and she was naked as the full moon.

“Pamuya?!" Adam gawked at the mountain lioness.

“Yep." She gave a brief out of breath answer. Her nonchalance baffled him.

“Can't you knock on the door?! You nearly scared me to death!" He swung his arm around.

“Who do you think would visit your home at night during a thunderstorm?" She countered. Adam shook his head without an answer.

“You're wet." He noticed the wet paw prints all over the kitchen floor.

“It's raining." She huffed, pointing out the obvious. “It's been raining since the end of the evening."

“Goodness…" He set down the lantern and retrieved a small hand towel from the stove. “Here, use this."

“Thanks." She wiped her head first, and then the rest of her fur coat. She smelled wet from the rain, but there was something else spicier in the damp air he couldn't place.

“What's going on? Why are you here all of a sudden?" He finally asked. The feline set the damp hand towel aside.

“I've been thinking about you all day…" She mentioned with a rumbling purr, and took a step forward. The human's eyes widened at the odd admission.

“My heat lasts up to two weeks."

“Wh-what?" His jaw slackened. Adam's eyes glanced lower and noticed that one of her hands was constantly rubbing over the line of her sex. The downy white fur appeared subtly damp, and it wasn't from the rain.

“And I need relief…" Her eyes glowed at him. Pamuya stepped forward until their fronts nearly touched. Adam felt a little nervous standing toe to toe with her. A sudden flash of lightning made the hair on his neck stand up.

“Listen, it's late and you-."

“You told me yesterday that you can help me again, if I need it." She reminded the human of his words, but the cougar paused to smile. “I intend to make you keep that promise." She whispered sending a delightful chill up his back.

“I uh…" He did not know what to say.

“I won't pounce, just like I promised." The cougar gently took the lantern from his hand, and turned him around to face his bedroom. The light to his lantern was suddenly blown out, leaving them in complete darkness. The floorboards softly creaked as two pairs of footsteps slowly moved.

'What have I gotten myself into?' Adam nervously gulped as he was nudged back into his bedroom for possibly a fortnight of lovemaking.
