Dreams 2
Do Minotaur dream of mythical Hominidae?
May 2023
I found myself standing nude in the warm salty seawater, hooves settling in the warm soft sand of the beach. The water that washed around me was a vivid, cool green-blue, washing its way to the beach in front of me in eternal waves. The mysterious island before me was a verdant jungle of deep luscious greens covering the land before me. Dense palm trees and thick ferns lined the narrow beach. The wind blowing from my back pushed at me, as did the cool waves, urging me to move on to the sandy beach. Striding out of the water and on to the beach, shaking the water from my fur, I was warmed by the radiant sands. But as pleasant as it was there was, I was drawn to the cool, verdant smell of the jungle before me. Entering a meadow of sorts in the jungle, I paused, tail swishing excitedly, and looked around and absorbed the sights and sensations of this magnificent place. A small stream or creek meandered from the interior of the island. Brilliantly colored tropical birds flew over making mysterious crys, insects sang their sounds, distant birds made exotic calls, and the wind blew soft ocean smells into the meadow. I froze when at the far end of the meadow a creature emerged from the jungle… an Anthropos? The mythical creature did not see me, as it was facing away from me, climbing through the rocks and splashing in the water of the creek. It was a hairless Hominidae, with smooth skin instead of a pelt, and hand-like 'feet'. I almost wasn't sure what I was seeing, and it was so unreal. The bare skinned creature clambered over some rocks and just as quickly as it had appeared, it disappeared further into the interior of the island. I snapped out of my stupor, and strode over to where it had gone. The rocks were smooth and steep, I wasn't sure if I could follow it, but then to my side I noticed a sort of trail that seemed to head up in the same general direction, so I followed that instead.
An actual Anthropos! I pondered as I followed the regular switchbacks of the trail. Said to be crafty and clever, the Anthropos was also purported to bring good luck and wealth to any who could charm the creature. I wondered if it were a female… I might have quite a charm for her…I thought lustily as there was a slight swell in my loins. I had only seen it from behind at a distance, but it was so smooth and pleasant, it had to be a female. I returned my thoughts to the path, it seemed a little too even to be a natural thing, and I used my hoof to scrape some, and beneath the moss was indeed weathered but definitely cut stone. I stoped, crouching low, my sack brushing on the mossy ground as I used a small rock to scrape away more dirt and an outline of a white marble block started to peek out of the soil. Scraping a bit more revealed this was a finely carved stone stairway up the side of the mountain. I stood dropping the small rock, and first looked up at the hidden grand stairway before me, and then back down the way I had come. Now that I knew, the other features started to become identifiable. I pulled the vines that covered tree stump next to me to reveal a cylindrical stone planter under the growth. I was in awe, this ancient stairway must lead some place, and so with a new reverence I ascended the mountain. Occasionally as my length brushed my thigh, I thought again of the mysterious Anthropos, and its smooth soft skin, its gently curved bottom, she was probably quite attractive. Perhaps I could spot her again. As I came to a landing I decided to rest. The landing was flat and round, and the jungle opened for it, providing an incredible view. Brushing aside some ferns confirmed my thoughts, there was a white polished stone rail surrounding the circular landing, and a bench under the brush. I wasn't going to pull it all down, so I sat on the overgrown bench between the foliage, closed my eyes, and enjoyed the warm sun and sea breeze. A rustling in the brush near-by took me out of my peaceful revery, and looking towards the sound, it was the Anthropos! It was still a bit away, it didn't seem to see me. She stood on a large smooth stone, looking out at the ocean for a while, the soft curves of her bottom facing me. My loins warmed as I watched her stand for a moment, then decide to lay down and sunbathe on the huge smooth stone. It lay on its back facing the sun, enjoying the same warmth I was. I closed my eyes, smiling as I faced the same sun, the warmth was magical, and we shared it. I thought about climbing over the rail of the landing, and going over to lay with the anthropos. In legends they made fine bedmates for heroes, and I became swollen to the thought of laying with her. After a few moments I decided I would. I was going to walk up to her, and take her hand, lead her to a good spot, and… there was more rustling from the direction of the anthropos.
When I opened my eyes again she was already up, climbing up the rocky cliff and up over the ledge above.
I had already made up my mind, and nothing on this island would stop me from finding the mysterious Anthropos, and charming it!
I stood resolutely and followed the stairs up towards her with the vigor of my determination and desire.
After several switchbacks I was finally at the top landing, where only a thicket separated me from my goal. The view was breathtaking, the top of the island afforded a view of the endless ocean below. The landing here was clear of brush, and though worn, the stone work was beautiful. From it a stone tile walkway disappeared into the green jungle.
I followed the path, and as I got through the brush I stopped and beheld the center of the island. The grove yielded to a meadow with tall grasses, a meandering babbling brook, the path I stood on lead up to a graceful domed structure on a slight rise in the center of the meadow.
And there! Standing in between the columns of a dome structure- There was my anthropos! It was walking around looking at the structure and meadow around it, it was just as curious as myths said anthropos were.
When it finally saw me it froze in place, staring at me. I noticed it was actually a male, judging by the small penis. I smiled, that wouldn't pose a problem, just a challenge. I strode confidently up the path, looking at his smooth skin, and gentle form. He was in awe of me, charmed at my mere sight apparently. As I got closer I smelled a faint lavender smell from the creature, and his stance made it clear he was intimidated. I circled him, appraising. His bottom still looked as inviting as when I thought he was a female. I would still make him mine tonight, and I took his hand gently, we walked hand in hand into the dome as the sun lowered.
I found a good spot, and after a time I put the Anthropos on his back. I found a familiar looking plant growing near by, and reached over to gathered some sap from it. As I lay over the Anthropos his mouth sampled my loins. I was pleased that my musk was probably helping to enthrall the creature, moving him to submit.
As I moved into position over him the difference in our sizes was very apparent. The creature was small and fragile looking under me. His penis was rather small too, but that didn't matter, I was the male tonight.
He didn't resist, but embraced my entrance in to him. I treated him like a female, and our passionate intercourse lasted until sunset, when I finally seeded him, marking him as mine. Withdrawing from the anthropos made him moan, and I lay next to my own personal mythical creature, holding hands as we watched the unfamiliar stars overhead before dozing off.
I awaken from that most restful slumber, at ease and satisfied. I reached over to caress my Anthropos, but found only cold ground. I was confused as I sat up and threw the sleeping hides back reviling an empty place by my side.
Where?!
I looked about confused, the early morning light did not reveal the warm green paradise, but the cold, barren, boreal hill-land surrounding the lean-to. No! I jumped to my hooves. Looking around my camp frantically.
No! My anthropos! Where!? It wasn't a dream!
I felt a wave of emotions, but they were quickly blown away by the storm of anger. No! I had him, he was mine! I raged, knocking my tools off a stump used as a work surface, dashing them to the ground.
I was wronged! By the very cosmos themselves! I charmed that anthrpos, he was mine! I stomped angrily about my lonely camp, menacing any objects that I crossed.
When I returned to my village a month later, I was just bitter with the stars. I prepared to trek to a neighboring village, where a dream-speaker lived. It would be several days journey, and the cold winds of winter had started to blow. I would do anything to speak with him, he was one of the only ones who would know what it was, what to do.
When I told the old bull my experience, he dismissed me right away, and told me it was 'just a pleasant dream'. He sent me away that same day. I returned the next week, and insisted on speaking to him. He gazed deep in to my eyes as I told him again, but he offered no words or advice, he just looked distant lost in thoughts; but again the old medicine bull sent me away. Distraught I left again, and trekked home. After two months of winter, I couldn't wait any longer. It wasn't a dream. It was more. I had to speak with the dream speaker. I had to make him see. It took a month to make the journey in the sleet and dark, but I would not be deterred. When I arrived the dream speaker and medicine keeper took me in. After recovering from the nearly suicidal journey with the help of the medicine keeper, the Dream-talker came to me. He said he wasn't sure before, but now he knew- Though he had not expected me to return until early spring … after the thaw. After several rituals and my retelling of the vision, he had questions for days. Eight days to be precise, and he only asked one a day, and we spent the remaining sun-up in silent work. After his questions and deep ruminations, he spoke with me, it was not a dream, but a journey. The place I met the Anthropos in was like 'a single star of the night sky' he explained, but like the sky and stars it could be hard to find when and where its ray of light would shine. It could be a star that shines only in one time of the year, only in one direction in the sky and even only one night in the year. His words were heartening at first. My Anthropos was real. But I realized I may take a lifetime - or more - to find him again.
I chose to camp on that desolate place in the hill-land, every year before the cold-winds started. I gazed at the stars every night, with a forlorn hope that I would walk in that paradise once more, and find my Anthropos again. I lay in my sleeping hide, and looked across the scrolling stars overhead, wondering from what star the headwaters came, and I was less lonely, because I knew that the Anthropos was doing the same, looking for me in the stars.

I found myself standing in the warm salty waters. The wash of the waves was a massage on my weary hooves and tired ankles. I knew where to head, so I walked inland then started to climb the stairs at a steady slow pace that was befitting of a place with nothing but time. I rested at the landing at the top of the stairs, looking out across the infinite ocean of jewels. I watched for sometime, contemplating how they were like the infinite stars I had watched overhead. I finally rose to my hooves and turned away from that glorious eternal vista, and walked through the thicket, entering the meadow, and stoped at it's edge. There, across the meadow, standing between the pillars of the dome waited my Anthropos. Just like so long ago, he stood nude, watching me frozen in awe. But this time, awe was accompanied not by nervousness, but a smile. He waited for me. I leisurely strolled across the meadow, and smiled up at him as I ascended the stairs. At the top he held out his hand to me and I took it, and I lead him to a special place waiting for us at the headwaters, a place where everything began.
