Pirates of the Caribbean Ch. 1 Heart of Ice The fog around the ship was thick but the sea itself was calm and still with the wind filling the sails making the ship glide through the waves. At the bow of the ship, a young dragon was leaning against the railing as he looked out over the calm scene while humming softly to himself. "... A pirate's life for me," he sang softly to himself. The dragon was finely dressed in gold with his blue scales sparkling like sapphires. Soon a horse servant came walking up to him. "You doing ok, your highness?" he would ask softly. "Oh, just enjoying the small amounts of freedom I get to have before having to suffer the company of the loud mouth of a duke I'm engaged to," sighed Nathan looking to the horse servant, "Other than that, nothing much. Why? What's on your mind, Dale?" "Just wanted to see how you were doing... I know all the things your going through and wish I could help you" he said, being the princes dearest loyal friend. "You're doing more than enough by keeping me company... And driving Mr. Big Mouth over there away from me," said Nathan smiling at Dale when he spotted a brightly colored Peacock strutting about on deck. “Well, I'm glad I can help you" Dale says with a smile Nathan groaned as he saw the peacock making his way over. "Hello, Reginald," he said rolling his eyes. "Nathan my darling...what are you doing out here with this servant...? you know he has other jobs he can be doing other then talking to you." he says snootily "Dale is a close friend and loyal servant to my family, so I'll thank you to be more civil," snapped the dragon standing up to the colorful bird. “Hmmpphhh! As you wish,” he would say with a huff. Nathan glared at the peacock and sighed leaning against Dale. "Remind me again why he's here again?" he asked the horse, "I might as well jump overboard at this rate." "I wouldn’t do that… but we both know he is only doing this to be an ass kisser." Dale says "Well, he needn't treat you so cruelly," said Nathan smiling at Dale, "And you have my full permission to kick his ass or punch his beak if he ever gets out of line again." “Nah. I’ll let fate deal with him," Dale said with a smile. Nathan groaned leaning against the railing. "Why not just let a pirate just rob us now?" he muttered. No sooner had he said that then there was the sound of cannon fire hitting the water just along side the ship. "PIRATES IN COMING!!!" called out a spotter from the crows nest. Nathan and Dale looked at each other in horror. They could hear Reginald squawking and running around like mad trying to find a place to hide. "Well at least its funny to see him squeal like a girl" Dale chuckled softly Just then, another ship appeared out of the mist and the flag showed the traditional skull and crossbones. The symbol for a pirate! Just then, grappling hooks shot out from the pirate ship and hooked on to the royal ship pulling them both closer together. soon pirates soon was able to gather jewels and supplies but then would gather everyone together as a cobra slithered up looking everyone over and Reginald was shaking and shivering in fear then froze seeing the cobra was staring down at him then fainted when the cobra said, “Boo." "Stop!" shouted Nathan running up to stand between the pirates and all the passengers and he glared down at the cobra, "These people are innocent, and their lives are not worth taking." “We're not interested in taking anyone’s lives, we maybe pirates but we have standards as well" the cobra says "And just what are you planning to do with them?" growled the dragon as he grabbed a sword from a nearby pirate's belt and pointed the blade tip at the cobra, "If you want them, you'll have to go through me." Soon a slow clap came from a wolf in a black and red outfit and it was when all the pirates were at attention except the cobra who was still in a standstill from Nathan pointing the sword blade at him. "Never thought I would see someone stand up against my first mate. I admire that,” the wolf said as he slowly walked over. But Nathan wasn't having it as he pointed the sword at the wolf. "Who are you?" he growled but then saw the snake trying to sneak away. The dragon stuck the tip in the cobra's tail pinning him in place. "Not so fast!" he growled, "I'm not finished with you." "Baines...captain Troy Baines of the BlackMoon, the cobra there is Trell, my second in command." the wolf would say reaching into his pocket and when Nathan drew his sword closer he slightly retracted seeing Troy pulled out a flask and took a drink from it and it smelled like rum. "want a drink?" the wolf asked offering it to the dragon. However, the dragon wasn't fooled. Just then, Reginald woke up from his faint and he started to shake. "Take the prince!" he squawked shoving the dragon forward into the wolf captain's arms, "He's all yours if you just leave the rest of us be." Nathan yelped when he was push forward dropping the sword in the process. He tried to stand up, but he was already trapped in Troy's arms. "heh alrighty then, you heard him lads lets move!" Troy said as Trell freed himself up and soon the pirates packed up their treasures and returned to their ship and released them with out incident and resumed sailing away from the royal ship However, Nathan was taken captive on board and led to the captain's quarters. The dragon shivered as he cowered in a corner of the cabin. The wolf took off his coat "I'm not gonna do anything to you, you can relax kid" Troy says as he took another drink of his flask. "Then why take me?" asked Nathan, "What good am I to you?" "Well one the peacock did say to take you and well we are. but I know you are being forced to marry that buckbeak" Troy said as he sat at his desk "Well, that's true," said Nathan but then scowled again, "But that doesn't excuse you for kidnapping!" "Like Trell said, we maybe pirates but we have standards...its not like most normal kidnappers you will still be treated as a person." Troy says "If that's true, then why not let me go?" asked Nathan, "Or at least take me to where I was planning to go. Why keep me here?" "Well where were you going to?" Troy asked. "There's a small kingdom down in the Caribbean," said Nathan, "That's where my grandfather lives. I was just returning from school to go live with him... But the only way to get there was to accept that obnoxious Reginald's proposal. Honestly, he cares more about himself than anyone else." "I take it he is the only person you were able to find that has a ship?" Troy asked "Unfortunately," said Nathan, "For some reason, my other ship was sabotaged on the way to pick me up and bring me home." "Well we can take you. I'm sure that ship is already on its way to your homeland by now" Troy said "Do you really think we can?" asked Nathan surprised but frowned, "I can't go home without Dale. He's looked after me when I lost my parents and brought me up along with my grandfather. And Reginald treated him so poorly and he was so rude to him when we first met that bird. I can't go home without him." "I'm sure he will be waiting for your return. but yeah we can take you." Troy said and a knock came onto the door and when it opened on the floor was Trell "I hope I'm not interrupting" he would say as he came in. Nathan sighed as he stood up and looked out the windows at the sea to see the moon reflecting on the surface. "Ummmmm Nathan is it? look I'm sorry about earlier... and ummm scaring that peacock..." Trell said "It's alright," said Nathan, "Actually, you did everyone a favor by scaring Reginald." "Well I wont lie I did see a few smiles when I did scare him." he says "Yeah... Before he shoved me as a bargaining chip," replied the dragon when there was another knock on the door. soon a large horse came in brining in Dale by the arm as Troy stood up as dale was brought front and center. "I found him hidden in the cargo hold while I was preparing dinner" he would say sternly "Dale!" cried Nathan running to the horse hugging him with the older horse hugging the dragon back. "I take it this is the dale you were talking about?" Troy asked with a soft smile "Yes," said Nathan snuggling into Dale's embrace, "But how did you get on board?" "I snuck on while you guys had the stand off" Dale said "I'm so glad you're here," said Nathan and looked back at Troy, "Will you keep your word in bringing us home, won't you?" "You have my word" Troy said with a smile Nathan smiled and looked to the stallion standing behind Dale. "And who are you, sir?" he asked. "Clyde" the larger horse said "Well, Clyde, since you're going to cook dinner, would you allow Dale to prepare it with you?" asked Nathan, "His cooking skills are among the best I've had when it comes to home cooked meals." "Heh I don't see why not" Clyde would say with a smile Dale smirked as he smacked Clyde's rear with Trell following behind. "Well, let's get cookin'," he said leaving Troy and Nathan alone. "How can I ever thank you?" he asked looking up at the wolf. "Just happy to help. Dale will enjoy Clyde by the way. he maybe a big guy but he is really submissive" Troy said with a chuckle "and he’s got an ass worth talking about" Troy said with a laugh seeing the whole exchange between Clyde and Dale. Nathan chuckled. "And I hope those two will have fun down there," he said when he felt himself begin to sweat and his insides were warming up. “Hehe oh they will.. trust me. He knew what was happening, but he was surrounded by strangers and he knew full well that he was going into heat for the wolf captain before him. Two little winged wolf pups, one 6 years old and the other 4 years old, burst into the room hugging their wolf father. "Hehe morning to you too boys" Troy said hugging them "Morning, Daddy," said the older one, while the youngest one was picked up by Nathan. "Morning, you two," chuckled the dragon. "Did you both sleep well?" Troy asked his boys "Yes, Daddy," said the oldest pup, "Are we going to see Uncle Clyde and Uncle Dale today?" “You bet we are kiddos” Troy would say happily The pups smiled and cheered. "Yeah!" cheered the second one, "Apple turnovers here we come!" Troy laughed happily “only after dinner” "Awww!" complained both pups and they looked to Nathan, "Papa, do we have to wait?" Nathan sighed and looked to Troy. "Maybe we can join them for breakfast?" he whispered to Troy. Troy chuckles and nods “alright that’s fine” The pups cheered happily. "Alright, boys," said Nathan chuckling, "Now go and get dressed and then we'll be on our way." They soon ran off to get ready cheering happily Nathan smiled. “You’re such a tease with them, you know that?” asked Nathan chuckling as he playfully swatted Troy’s chest. “They love it” Troy says with a smile The dragon chuckled and kissed his wolf. “And I love you,” he said rubbing his nose against Troy’s. Troy smiles wagging happily Later, the royal couple were walking down the dusty, bustling streets to a bakery. When they entered, a bell rang over the door and Troy saw Clyde was standing behind the counter with a round belly. Dale came in and smiled when he saw who entered through the door. Troy asked with a smile “It’s growing,” replied Clyde resting a hand on his belly, “Among other things. We’re about six months along now.” “Good to hear.” Troy smiles he would make himself some coffee "Dale had been in a rut that night and it triggered my heat which led to our soon-to-be foal," said Clyde as he prepared some hot cocoa for Nathan and the pups. “Very cool! Happy for you both” Troy said with a smile Dale smiled as he helped the pups sit into some bar stools before returning to Clyde and nuzzled him. He then took steaming hot mugs from his mate, put in some marshmallows and gave them to the pups. Troy smiles watching the pups sip on their coco. “Mmmm I’m gonna get my usual breakfast Clyde” Troy says "You've got it," said Clyde nodding and felt the foal inside him move around making him stop. Dale came over holding his mate close and gently rubbing the round belly. "We know, baby," he whispered to the unborn infant, "But we're taking care of people who want to become your family too." Troy smiled at the site sipping softly on his coffee Nathan smiled as he snuggled up to Troy. "Hun... There's something I should mention," he said, "Do you remember your rut from three weeks ago?" Dale, who had been still whispering to Clyde's belly, heard Nathan mention and gasp. "Wait... Are you...?" he stammered. Nathan smiled and nodded. Soon breakfast was done and the kids were in the play corner playing with toys while the adults talked while Troy was rolling a skull doubloon in his fingers. Found this treasure and well I picked up this doubloon on the ground and when I put it in my pocket had this cannibal run up on me and jabbed me with a spear and this kept it from going in me.” He would say "Where's the treasure now?" asked Nathan feeling intrigued. “We have it hidden in a secret place.” Troy said with a smile "Well, aren't you afraid someone might find it?" asked Nathan softly. "I don’t think so. Never had an issue with it” Troy says Nathan was about to say more when he shivered as if a cold wind blew through even though it was the middle of summer. “You ok, honey?” Troy asked "Yeah," said Nathan snuggling up to Troy, "Just got a little chill, that's all." "Ok honey" Troy said holding the dragon close. Later that day, Nathan was still shivering as if he were freezing on the inside. "Troy..." he stammered, "I don't... Feel so good." It was then a familiar peacock was strutting around nearby. Troy puts his coat on the dragon and and nuzzles him. "Come on. Lets get you home.” "Your majesties," said Reginald walking up to them. "Get out of the way, you technicolored chicken!" snapped Nathan with a dark growl snarling his teeth making the peacock jump. But then the dragon shook his head and looked to Troy. "Did... Did that come out of me?" he asked nervously. Even their pups looked nervous. “Yeah, it did...." Troy said nervously "Thats not like you, Nathan.” Nathan shook violently clinging to Troy. Reginald, however didn't get the memo. "What did you call me?" he squawked, "Your highness, I insist you apologize to me right this minute! If you can't show respect to others, then you're unfit to rule!" "Cool it, Reggie" Troy said, "Something is up.” "I'll say," retorted Reginald, "Letting a pirate like you rule by his side? What part of that says stability?" “That's not my life anymore I had to clean up" Troy huffed "Oh, please," scoffed Reginald, "Once a pirate, always a pirate... And the same can be said for your little brats too." Soon Troy stormed up to the peacock “don’t you dare bring my kids into this” But Nathan looked up with his eyes turning black and breathed out ice at Reginald before the peacock could say anything. The bird's head was frozen and he ran off screaming, "You'll pay for this!" Nathan snarled but then his eyes went back to normal before he fainted. "Daddy!" cried the pups running over to their dragon father, "What's wrong with Papa?” "I don’t know but we’re going home to find out” Troy said picking Nathan up and soon they all went home including dale and Clyde to see what was wrong with their friend. Nathan was soon in bed whimpering and groaning in his sleep with ice beginning to form around him. Troy seen this and would go to Clyde. “Round up the old crew. I wanna see if anyone knows what’s going on.” Troy said as a doctor came in to look Nathan over “Well, physically he’s fine and so is the baby that’s growing inside him,” said the doctor, “But somehow his body temperature is dropping fast.” “How is that even possible? He was just fine this morning” Troy says "I don’t know but there are somethings even us doctors are unable to explain,” said the doctor who was concerned, “Perhaps what you need is a second opinion in regards to magical means.” Troy rolled the doubloon in his fingers again thinking and nods “let’s do it find those into the magical means and see if they can help.” He says doubloon The pups came up to Troy. “Daddy? Is Papa sick?” asked the oldest one, his eyes filling up with tears. “Yes kiddo I’m afraid he is but we’re gonna figure it out. Cause Baines’ stick together.” He said with a smile The pups, Peter and Adam, hugged their wolf father wagging their little tails. Troy smiles hugging them back his own tail wagging as well A little while later, a zebra entered the mansion and smiled when he Troy giving him a hug. “It’s good to see you again, old friend,” he said warmly. “You too, Eros” Troy smiled hugging him back "I came as soon as I could,” he said as they walked to Nathan’s room, “So, tell me about your mate’s symptoms.” “Mood swings, sudden chills and ice powers,” Troy says "Ice powers?" asked Eros confused, "And when did this happen?" This morning shortly after I told him about my lucky doubloon” Troy says "That medallion you kept since that treasure hunt?" asked Eros when they felt another chill and saw the doors to the royal bedroom were covered in ice. “What the?” Troy said grabbing the door and quickly pulled his hand away for how cold it was "Stand back," said Eros stepping forward as he kicked down the door. Inside, the room was full of snow and icicles. Nathan was beyond recognition as he was covered in frost and his scales were pale and frozen, yet he wasn't shivering. His breath was soft, but shaking slightly. “Nathan?” Troy asked looking up at him "Troy?" croaked Nathan softly looking up at the wolf as a tear left his eye, but it quickly froze turning into snow. “Honey what’s going on with you?” Troy asked But then Nathan's eyes went pure white and he grinned. Not the warm, loving grin he would use with his family, but full of hungry, malicious content. "At long last," he said in a deep, distorted voice, "I'm free." He then rose up from his bed and looked down at the wolf. "And I have you to thank for releasing me from my prison. Long ago, I was the most powerful ruler ever known to the world, immortal and limitless... But then my soul was trapped in that accursed chest piled on with gold that was sealed with blood magic. There I stayed... Trapped... Until you released me." Troy’s eyes went wide pulling out the doubloon and saw it had a skull on one side but a snow flake on the other “oh no…” he muttered "Oh yes," said Nathan grinning glaring down at the doubloon in Troy's hands. "I tried to take possession of you for years, but now that I've found the perfect host, I have no use for you." He waved his hand and a huge gust of cold air sent Troy and Eros flying out of the room. Nathan grinned as he walked to the balcony. Ice formed on the edge and he began walking across a ice bridge that continued to form beneath him right down towards the town. “What have I done..?” Troy said as he and Eros got back just as the bridge crumbled away from them "We need to find that treasure chest again," said Eros, "It's the only way to reverse this. Troy, that medallion you took. Was it the only one you took from that chest?" “Well a few things…” Troy said rubbing his head nervously "How many?" asked Eros, "It may be the way to save your husband." “The whole chest…” Troy muttered “mine just happened to have fallen out” "Nathan said something about blood magic," said Eros, "It means that those who sealed him in there used their own blood to put it into effect. And the one who has to put it back must use his own blood to reactivate the seal. And if that medallion isn't returned with your blood on it, Nathan could be lost forever." “Well luckily the chest is kept with Trell and his husband” Troy said "I haven't seen old Snake Eyes in years... But suppose Nathan finds out?" asked Eros. "Daddy? Where's Papa?" called Adam as he came up. The youngest pup looked scared and reached up to Troy wanting to be held by him. Troy picked them up and but knowing it’s better to be honest he told them what had happened. “But don’t you worry kiddo we got a plan” Troy said Peter also came up looking scared and trembled with his tail between his legs and his ears flat against his head. "Will Papa be okay?" he whimpered. “Sure will kiddo. I promise” Troy Would say Meanwhile, in another part of the town, Reginald was playing host to a dozen of high society member for what he claimed to be a "charity gala". "Hello, Sir Reginald," called an elephant walking up to the peacock, "And how've you been this fine evening?" “Been very good Sir Leatherman. How’s the tax business?” the peacock would say "Booming as usual, although it seems his majesty keeps lowering it and lowering it to the point nobody has to pay anything," said the elephant. “Typical of them and that dirty ass pirate husband of his I bet he probably still dips his hand in the till” Reginald says with a chuckle "Indeed. You think his majesty would have been a better judge of character," said the elephant, "But as I recall correctly, weren't you the one who was originally engaged to him and yet you offered him up as a bargain for your own life?" Soon the peacock huffed “yes that fucking snake of his scared the day lights out of me” he says swirling his wine glass around "Well, what do you think should be done?" asked the elephant, "Since he's married, that pirate scum is probably reformed by now." “Oh trust me I got a plan. I’m sure that scum surely can’t resist. And if he don’t I may make other arrangements” he says snootily. Suddenly, the glass doors in the ballroom they were in flew open and a sudden gush of cold air blew in blowing out the candles. Soon everyone looked at the doors shivering at the cold breeze Outside, lightning flashed and thunder clapped through the air. Just then, snow began to fly inside and swirled around in front of the guests until it took the form of a dragon with white scales, a sharp icicle crown and a white polar bear furred robe. He held a long icy staff in hand with a snowflake on the top. "It... It's King Nathan," gasped the elephant in horror, "But... Why's he like this?" "Well," replied Nathan in a dark, velvety voice that wasn't his own, "Quite the interesting party, Sir Reginald... Though I must say that I really felt quite distressed at not receiving an invitation." “Heh never thought I would finally see you in this way? I take it that scurvy scummy pirate has shown his true colors and you came running back to me” Reginald said smugly "On the contrary," said Nathan darkly as he glared at Reginald and banged his staff on the floor covering the entire ballroom in ice, "I've come to put you in your place... In the grave." He and the others have gasped and would all slip on the ice as they tried to make their getaway But then icy monsters appeared in the doorways blocking their path. Nathan grinned. "Call me... The Snow King!" He banged his staff again and at once all the guests screamed as they were all turned into solid ice. He left Reginald last and he glared. "So, did you think I was too weak to choose for myself?" he growled. “Heh…kind of…but I hope no hard feelings about giving you up to the pirates” he said chuckling nervously "Well, let me think... Yes, I do have hard things... And revenge is a dish... Best served cold," he snarled as he lifted his staff and pointed it at Reginald freezing him solid. The peacock gasped his last breath as he was frozen solid Then the ice shattered before the dragon who was grinning with sadistic glee before he left cackling and disappeared in a flurry of snow. Meanwhile Troy was in a carriage with Clyde and dale on their way to get to trellis house However, they looked outside and noticed it was snowing. "We don't have much time," said Eros, "The Snow King's powers are growing by the minute." But when they reached Trell's home, it was destroyed. The cobra poked his head out of the snow shivering. "Jumping ice cubes! It's freezing!" he cried. “Oh Trell thank god your ok. Is your husband ok?” Troy asked running up to him "He is, but I don't know how or who it was, but some white dragon swooped in and stole the chest," said Trell looking worried. “Nathan… but it’s not Nathan” Eros says A tiger popped his head out of the snow next to Trell shaking his head. He cradled the snake close knowing Trell was cold blooded and hated the cold. "I... Don't... Feel... So...
