I'm Sorry / She Loved / Help Yourself

It's been a while since I last wrote a serious poem.

To test myself, I attempted a writing challenge I gave my dear friend Cons.

I challenged him to write a poem divided into three sections:

1) First-Person Point-of-View: I'm sorry

2) Third-Person Point-of-View: He/She was in love

3) Second-Person Point-of-View: You need help

A few years ago, on the Internet, I came across the following quote, "'I love you', 'I am sorry', and 'I need help' are the three hardest things for a human to say."

The quote always stuck with me, and I thought it would be interesting to try to write a poem that not only focued on those phrases, but also added a more dynamic element of perspective in narration (i.e. first-person versus third-person).

Creating the requirement of the three point-of-views, with one view per phrase, seemed appropriate for adding the aforementioned element of dynamic perspective.

This took approximately one hour and forty-one minutes to write.

I am so sorry--No furman'd Ever have to witness the crime Beside this letter. Determined As I was, it was about time

To administer justice--to Quell the remorse, to make silent The ruminations that were so Loudly recalling an event

Of which I was a catalyst, A criminal, and a liar (Though my intentions did enlist Pure causes). A tireless fire

Raged with no direct translation For the suffering in my heart; Yet, no prose or definition Could dictate how she played a part--

No, a character--oh, if you Only knew the protagonist That she tried to be for me: blue Eyes, red fur, and gold heart. I missed

Her facade's only true window: Her smile. She always smiled Brightest when cold, dark crops would sow Her love in such patterns tiled

With misery and pain that I Harvested--I fucking killed her! Her heart wrapped tighter around my Love than the phone cord did the fur

Around her neck! I...if you are Still reading (before the police Come...before you forget our Dark moment, together), I--please...

You cannot be afraid to ask For help. Forget your pride! Forget Your ego! They will always task Your consciousness to make a bet

You may or may not win! Ask for help if you need it! She needed Help! I needed help! Please! Before It's too late to ask... *BANG!*
