Broadening Ken's Horizons - Chapter 15 - On the Run
Standard disclaimers apply, though there's not much adult in this particular chapter.
Julie and I screwed for a few more minutes after Tom's call before I got distracted thinking about the whole situation. I decided I had better call Tank while Julie went around the house cleaning up various puddles of cum off the floor, furniture and kitchen counter. His phone rang once and he answered.
"Hey Ken. What's up?" he asked, a cheery tone to his voice.
"Tom's been trying to call you," I replied. "Did he get hold of you?"
"I wasn't answering," he replied. "I figured he may be mad at me. Why? What does he want?"
I explained the day's events with Roger's behavior, his disappearance and the news crews.
"Wow," Tank replied, nervously. "I had no idea all that was going on. So we're both in trouble, huh?"
"Yes," I replied. "So it's really important that you lay low for a while. How would anyone know all this? Any ideas?"
"No," Tank replied.
"Have you told anyone at all recently?" I pressed on. "Other than your parents, of course. I assume we can trust them."
"Yeah, we can trust them. I've been around both of them since you dropped me off. They are keeping it quiet since they really want to see me back as a human. They don't let me out of the house in case the neighbors see me and start asking questions."
"OK, that pretty much rules them out. How about Tom? He knows that I'm partially transformed. He acted like he didn't know that you had."
"No, I've never told Tom, even though I've known him a couple of years now."
Well, that certainly jived with Tom's story. I couldn't see Tom blabbing it to the world, anyway. It was obvious that whoever leaked the story had to know not only that Tank had transformed years ago but also that I was in the middle of transforming, myself. I was at a loss.
"Tank, is there anyone else you can think of..." I started, then the most obvious answer came to mind. "Tank, did you contact someone yourself?"
"No, of course not," he replied rather defensively. "Why would I do that?"
"I don't know, Tank, just asking. The only other suspect, in my mind would be Roger," I continued. "He may have known I was transforming, or at least suspected something was going on. Tom could have told him just enough to explain why I was staying at the apartment."
I was thinking out loud at this point, pulling for answers that just weren't becoming evident. I was pretty much ready to conclude the call at this point. Tank wasn't shedding any clues and I needed to sleep on all this, anyway.
"OK, Tank. Just lay low and I'll let you know when I hear anything," I said. "You OK otherwise? Need anything? I've got your truck, by the way."
"Sometime, I would like to get my personal belongings from the apartment," he replied. "Some time when it's safe, could you do that for me?"
"Sure, Tank, I'll be glad to. I'll let you know when I can do that. I'll bring it over to your parents' house."
"OK, thanks," he said. "I'll talk to you later, Ken. Thanks for being a friend."
"No problem, Tank," I replied. "Talk to you later."
We both hung up. Julie walked into the bedroom at that point and climbed into the bed with me, cuddling up close. We laid there together without speaking for quite a while, then both slowly drifted off to sleep.
"Ken, wake up," I heard Julie whisper.
I slowly rubbed my eyes as I rolled over to see what she wanted. The alarm clock read 2:35 AM. I noticed that Julie was peering through the window between the curtains. I could see her face lit up by flashing blue lights. I could also faintly hear sounds like walkie talkies.
"Is that your truck out front?" Julie asked.
"Well, it's Tank's truck, but he's letting me use it," I replied. "Why? What's going on?"
"There are a couple of police officers out there checking it out," she said, still whispering. "One has a flashlight checking the license plate and the other is talking into his radio."
"I wonder if I parked illegally," I wondered aloud.
"No, everyone parks on the street here," she started, then pushed the curtain closed and headed towards her closet. "One of the officers is coming up the sidewalk. Sit tight and I'll handle it."
Julie threw on a long night shirt and headed to the front door. I got up and stood just inside the bedroom door so I could hear what was going on.
The police officer asked Julie if she lived here, to which she replied yes. He asked if she knew whose truck was outside and she replied no. He asked her if she had seen who parked it there and again answered no. Finally, he apologized for the interruption and asked that she call the police if she saw anyone around the truck, especially if they drove off with it.
I heard the door shut and went over to the window and carefully peeked out. Both officers stood around talking for a couple of minutes, occasionally gesturing towards other houses, then got back in their car.
Julie came up to peek out with me. The officers turned off the flashing lights and sat in their car a couple more minutes. Then they pulled away from the curb and slowly drove down the street, eventually disappearing from view.
We both climbed back into bed and snuggled together.
"That was scary," Julie said. "Wonder what that was all about?"
"Looks like they're looking for Tank for some reason," I answered. "The officer didn't indicate why?"
"No, he just said to let them know if anyone goes around the truck."
"If it was reported stolen, I would think they would tow it away," I speculated.
"Maybe they will in the morning," she replied. "Is there anything of yours inside it?"
"Nothing that I can remember leaving in it," I replied after racking my brain for a moment. "At least nothing that would have my name on it, anyway."
We both laid together for a while. My mind was still racing with questions, not only from this recent event, but from everything that had happened over the last 24 hours. Hopefully Julie was sleeping since she needed to be fresh for work. I finally drifted off myself.
Julie woke me up the next morning, already dressed. She was letting me know she was heading to work.
"Be careful," I warned her.
"You too," she replied. "And stay inside."
"Sure," I shrugged. "It's not like I have anywhere to go."
She headed on out. I was curious about the truck, so I got up and peeked out the window. Julie was just pulling away from the curb in her car and disappeared down the street. The truck was still out front. I decided to get up, take a piss and see what was in the kitchen for breakfast.
While I was eating breakfast, Tank called.
"Hey, Ken," he started without even a hello. "Think you could swing by the apartment and get my stuff today?"
"I don't know, Tank," I replied. I told him about the police visit. "Know anything about that?"
"No, that's weird. Think it has anything to do with the reporters?"
"I don't know what to think at this point," I replied. "I'm not sure if anyone is watching the truck or not. I could use some of my own clothes, though. Wonder if it would be worth risking it?"
"We need someone to check out the truck," Tank said. "See if anyone is watching. You're at Julie's place, right?"
"Yeah, but she's at work," I replied. "I'm not too keen on walking out there myself." I was looking out the window, trying to see if I could tell if there was anyone around that looked suspicious. That's when I saw a familiar face walking up to the house next door.
"I have an idea, Tank," I said quickly. "I'll call you back." I hung up the phone and quietly slid open the window.
"Randy!" I hissed in a loud whisper.
"Ken!" he replied, starting to walk over towards me. "What are you doing at Julie's place?"
"Shhh," I hissed. "Don't come over this way. Act normal and go on in your house. Come around to the back door and I'll let you in and explain."
He nodded, looking understandably confused and went on in his house. A minute later, he appeared at Julie's back door and I let him in, scanning around the back yards a bit before quietly closing and locking the back door.
"Wait, let me guess," Randy started. "You've been bopping women and you're ashamed to be seen with a guy now? Ken, I'm so disappointed..."
"No, that's not it," I interrupted him. "Listen, I can't explain everything right now, but I need you to do me a huge favor."
"Sure. Looks like you could probably do me a huge favor, as well," he replied, staring at the large tube dangling down the leg of my shorts.
I knew I should have put on my underwear. I remembered he hadn't seen me since my cock had nearly doubled in size. I didn't want to have to explain that right now.
"We'll discuss that," I replied. "But after you do this for me. I need you to walk out to the truck out front and just look around it like you are curious. Maybe try the door handle. It is currently locked. Look in the windows a bit. Then, just walk back into your house. You can come back over through the back door."
"OK," he replied. "But I'm still confused."
"I'll explain when you get back," I said. "Just do this for me."
He headed out the back door, over to his house, then out his front door. I watched from the bedroom window while I slipped on my underwear, packing my cock in the best I could so the bulge didn't look so massive.
Randy slowly walked around the truck while I watched up and down the street. I didn't see anyone approach. He looked in the windows, tried the door handle, then shrugged and headed back into his house. He let himself back in Julie's house while I was still watching out the front window. Randy joined me.
"So what are we watching for?" he asked after a minute.
"That's Tank's truck, that he let me borrow," I answered. "Last night, the police were checking it out, but I don't know why. I was trying to see if someone looking around it might cause anyone watching it to show up. Apparently, nobody's watching."
"Yeah, but why..." Randy started to ask.
"No time to explain," I replied, throwing on a shirt and shoes. "I need to go run an errand. I'll see you later." I headed to the back door with Randy following close behind.
"Hey," he called to me. "You owe me one."
"I owe you a big one," I replied, winking at him.
I jumped in the truck, fired it up and headed down the street, watching the mirrors carefully for anyone following me. Satisfied after a bit of driving around random streets, I headed to the apartment. I purposefully parked in a shopping center parking lot nearby, backing the truck up near a wall to hide the license plate.
I walked nonchalantly to the apartment complex, entering a different building, then slipping out the back door and into the back door of Tank and Tom's building. I went up to their apartment and quietly let myself in. I quietly checked the whole apartment and found it empty.
I grabbed one of my bags and emptied out all but a couple changes of clothing, then headed into Tank's room. I called Tank and he answered.
"OK, I'm in your room," I explained. "I have a limited amount of space in my bag, so I hope you don't want a lot of stuff."
"Just a few small momentos," he explained, telling me where each item was and what it looked like. "And my diaries. They are in the bottom drawer of my nightstand. They are under a stack of magazines."
"I see the diaries," I replied after opening the drawer. "But no magazines on top."
"I always left them covered," he explained with a sound of concern in his voice. "How many of them are in there?"
"Eleven," I replied after stuffing them all in the bag. There was a long silence on the phone. "Is that all, Tank?"
"There should be twelve," he finally replied, very quietly.
What?"
"There should be twelve diaries. One of them is missing. Did you look all around the room?"
"Not yet, but I will," I replied, digging around the room looking for the other book. I didn't find it anywhere. "No luck. Anywhere else to look?"
"No, that's OK," he replied. "Where can I meet you?"
"How about that bar near your parents' house?" I offered.
"I don't feel comfortable being seen in public," he said. "Pick me up there, around the side, then we can talk in the truck as we drive around."
"OK," I said. "See you in about fifteen minutes." I hung up the phone and slipped out of the apartment.
I took the same roundabout route back to the truck, threw the bag in the back and headed off to meet Tank. I kept a sharp eye out for anything suspicious but never saw anything the whole trip. I drove around the bar and found Tank, who jumped in the truck before I even stopped rolling.
"Head north on the interstate," was all he said.
I pulled back onto the highway and headed north. He reached back and grabbed the bag, opened it and sorted through the diaries. He zipped the bag back up and put it in the back seat, then started rubbing his brow in a look of deep concern.
"What is it?" I finally asked.
"The missing diary is from the year I transformed," he replied.
We both rode quietly for a bit, then I spoke up. "Roger?"
"Or Tom," he replied in a serious tone. "Get off at the next exit and go to the truck stop. I need to think over some food and a beer."
"Same here," I replied and headed down the next exit ramp.
I swung the truck around the back of the building, hiding it among all the larger trucks. Before I shut off the truck, Tank leaned over to check the gauges on the dash.
"Making sure you had plenty of fuel," he explained. "This would be a good place to get some if we needed to."
I glanced down and looked, as well. About half a tank. I shut off the truck and we headed inside, grabbing a somewhat isolated booth. We ordered food and drinks and sat quietly until it arrived.
"So you think either Roger or Tom read through your diary and figured out you had transformed several years ago?" I finally asked.
"That would be my guess," Tank replied. "At least that would explain a lot of what is going on."
"What would either of them gain by telling the press or the authorities?" I wondered aloud.
"Well, for Roger, it would be a way to get payback..." Tank started, his voice trailing off.
"So you did rape him?" I finally surmised. Tank nodded his head in affirmation.
"Well," I spoke up after several awkward minutes of silence. "We both need to find a place to hide out for a while, until we find out more about what all is going on."
"I agree," replied Tank. "There is a small motel at the next exit."
"Do you have enough cash?" I asked. "We can't use credit cards, we would be tracked too easily."
"No, I have about enough to cover dinner," he replied.
"Same here," I said. "Any other ideas?"
"Wait, I know," he answered, his face lighting up. "The friend I told you about that helped me when I transformed lives on a fairly remote farm about 20 miles north of here. I'm sure he would let us stay at his place."
"Did you mention him by name in your missing diary?" I asked.
"No, not at all," he replied.
"Cool," I said, getting up from the table. "Let's go."
We had been in the truck stop so long that the sun was setting. We hopped in the truck and headed north on the interstate. After about 10 miles, we heard a clunk under the truck's hood and the engine died. I struggled to pull the truck over to the shoulder and stop, since the power steering and power brakes had stopped working along with the engine.
"What the hell?" Tank asked out loud once we had rolled to a stop. "See if it will start back up."
I cranked the engine for a couple minutes to no avail.
"Let me call my friend," Tank said, pulling out his cell phone.
"No, don't," I said, grabbing his phone. "They could trace the call and find out where we are heading."
"True," he said. "So now what?"
"I'm not sure yet," I replied. "Give me a couple minutes to think it through."
While we both sat quietly in the truck pondering our next move, I noticed a vehicle approaching in the rearview mirror, slowing down. I was hoping it wasn't a police car. As it slowly drove past us, I realized it was a truck. It pulled over in front of us and stopped, turning on an array of yellow flashing lights.
The back of the truck had reflective lettering that read "Free Roadside Assistance. Compliments of the state Department of Transportation."
That was a relief. Hopefully the driver could help us out. I saw him walking back from his truck, carrying a flashlight and wearing a reflective yellow safety vest. I rolled down my window as he walked up.
"You fellows need any help?" he asked as he looked in the window.
"Sure, if you can," I replied. "We heard a clunk and the engine died. Now it won't restart."
"I'll see what I can find," he said, walking around the front of the truck. "Pop the hood for me."
I reached down and pulled the hood release. He started panning around the engine compartment with his flashlight for a bit, occasionally probing around with his other hand.
"Found it," he called out. "C'mere and I'll show you."
Tank and I both got out and walked around the front of the truck, leaning over the grill and peering down where the man was waving his flashlight around.
"OK, see this hose?" he asked, shining his flashlight on it.
"Yeah," Tank replied.
"OK, follow the light back towards the back and you'll see," he continued. "There, see that black thing?"
"You mean that square..." I started to ask.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my upper back and stars flashed in my eyes. I felt my legs buckle just as everything turned black.
