A faint glow at the end of one hallway confirmed his suspicions that he'd been in the right place the whole time. He could tell right away that he was dealing with the Power Stone, which was definitely one that he didn't want falling into the wrong hands; honestly, he felt that way about all of them. Gradually he made his way closer, seeing more of the colour radiate brighter the nearer that he got. He grew hesitant, but still pushed forth...
...And was flabbergasted when all he saw was the Stone being suspended in the air by a beam of energy shooting out from a pedestal. He actually found the fucking thing, but why was it so easy? Where was everyone? "The Stone is just out here like this? Unprotected?!" It made no sense. This was clearly put here by someone - or some_thing_ - but there wasn't anyone around for miles. Who did this and why?
But he wasn't here to care about the logistics of the situation. He had a job to do, and he was going to do it. "Screw it, I'll just grab the damn rock and get out of he-"
A bright flash of light burst from the Stone the second that his hand drew close to it, nearly blinding him in the process. He barely had any time to process what was going on before he felt himself being targeted by the awesome might of the Stone. Energy shot into him through a ray of power aimed directly into his open mouth, with several smaller other ones arcing along his body.
The energy blasting into him pulled him upward, levitating him off of the ground to fully intake all that the Stone wanted to give him, leaving the procyon at its mercy. He didn't even get a chance to say anything, his mind awash in all the power cascading through his diminutive form.
Rocket felt like eons-worth of pent-up energy channeling into him like a vessel, clearly having not been used by those who controlled it before. He couldn't move, not even an inch. Every single part of his body was frozen in place. And yet, he felt more vigourous than he usually did, no thanks in part to the Stone's power; that's what it was designed to do, after all.
And as quickly as it started, the ray of energy ceased, sending Rocket hurtling unceremoniously to the ground below him. Panic raged through him as he failed to understand what he'd just endured. He almost couldn't tell that he was in the same place as before.
All of that happened literally within the span of a few seconds, as confirmed when he checked his wristwatch. He couldn't believe what just happened! It felt like time had slowed to a crawl and that he'd been suspended in the air for hours, but reality told him otherwise. His breathing, however, hadn't returned to normal just yet, leaving him sputtering as he picked himself up.
His heart beat a mile a minute, nearly out of his chest as he steadied himself. Frenzied consternation pumped through his veins, especially when he noticed that wisps of the Stone's essence crackled around him, giving him an otherworldly aura of power that belied his frightened appearance.
Eventually, though, his heart rate started to slow as he looked over himself, realizing that he was still in one piece, still the same raccoon bastard that he always was. His blue jumpsuit looked no worse for wear, with even the patches that he'd sewn on remaining attached despite all of that.
It honestly amazed him at how alright he actually was. Every single part of him looked no different, not even a single hair on his frame singed from the blast. For the first time since leaving the Guardians that day, a smile actually wormed its way across his face.
Yeah, he was just fine, great, in fact! The power whirling inside of him made him feel incredible, like he could take on the universe. He just couldn't believe his luck. "Well... that was someth-"
He didn't get to finish his sentence before his arm abruptly exploded in size, untold pounds of beef instantaneously stretching his hide. The sleeve of his jumpsuit shredded into confetti, slowly falling to the floor. The added weight threw him off balance, sending him careening to the hard, metal ground as his limb ballooned in size to the point where it far surpassed how much the rest of him weighed.
And yet it didn't stop. His arm stretched farther than it did before in order to accommodate the densely-packed muscle mass continually piling onto his frame. In a matter of seconds, it looked like he was a giant raccoon arm with a little body attached.
Rocket had no idea what to make of his unexpected predicament, only wishing that he could return to normal and not be so lop-sided anymore. Only part of his wish would be granted as the power began to push back into the rest of him. Like his limb, the pectoral closest to it burst from his jumpsuit, already swollen with musculature.
The other one followed suit, the muscle fibres tearing and repairing themselves as they shredded the top of his suit, leaving the material in thousands of ribbons on the ground. His chest rose high into the air, already taller than he was standing up, and beginning to become just as thick as his body stretched out. His formerly lithe shoulders now broadened wider than even Drax's, making him look tiny by comparison as his deltoids joined in on the fun by shooting past the size of cannonballs. That let his traps in on the action by bloating outward along his now-wider frame, positively swallowing his neck without him getting a chance to react to it.
Then came the rest of his torso, which quickly matched the rest. His trunk pulsed out wide to stay in line with his shoulders, hundreds - if not thousands - of pounds of delicious procyonic muscle stacked onto his gorgeous physique, bulging out muscle groups that he wasn't even aware that he had.
His back blew up in a violent eruption of tremendous bulk that dented the metal beneath him as it swelled into mountainous peaks and valleys. His thickness had grown monstrous, now dwarfing the height of colleagues when measured from the bottom of his traps to the top of his pecs. Then there were his lats that flared out wide, broad and flat enough to land his ship on, though the Guardians' cruiser might be more appropriate at this rate.
The growth continued to his front, where his lithe stomach had torn open his jumpsuit to reveal abs the size of concrete blocks, and only getting bigger from there. If there were another one of him there at that moment, he wouldn't be able to hold one of them in his hand as they'd swelled larger, and tougher, than any man-made wall. They rose and fell by feet with every single one of his quaking breaths.
Of course, he wouldn't remain that top-heavy for much longer. Like his torso, his lower half joined in, consuming the power forced inside of him and continuing his expansion. It completely burst the jumpsuit from off of his body, leaving it totally unrecognizable amidst the destroyed gadgets that he kept in his pockets.
What were once slender thighs that benefited from his constant movement now were grotesque slabs of beef, thick and loaded with sinewy bulk that only kept inflating his quads as the seconds ticked away. They fought for what little space there was between them, pressing against one another even with his widened stance. There was simply too much muscle mass in the way to allow them to flourish, so they opted to lengthen to keep going. Nothing would hinder his growth.
Not to be outdone, his calves also exploded, very slightly at first until they pushed past the width of his leg. They tightened as his body became more inundated with sumptuous beef, thickening to the point where bodybuilders would be jealous before rocketing past that entirely. Now they weighed more than the biggest of heavyweight competitors, even growing stronger than what they were capable of despite not being close to the biggest muscles on his ever-expanding frame. If only those men could get a taste of what he was experiencing.
