Spyro: Return of Darkness, Chapter 23 -- Healing Light, Dark of Returning Night
#22 of Spyro: Return of Darkness
I'd be putting these up a bit faster but there seems to be a server issue with YiffStar, haven't been able to do much of anything the past two days here except maybe comment/reply. that being said, here's chapter 23!
If you=18+, action=stay. if you(not)=18, action=leave.
Chapter 23 -- Healing Light...Dark of Returning Night
Three quiet days went by. Spyro recovered quickly, only to fall ill with another sickness along with Cynder. Terrador had reported that a strange strain was going around and affecting the younger population of the realm. The two young dragons stayed wrapped around each other in their bed during those three days. Sometimes one of them would get a little horny and stroke at the other's tailbase (much to the satisfaction of the other), but they were too out of it to get anything started. Solar, unaffected by the virus, tended to them often, but even he couldn't seem to figure out how to cure them.
"Might as well let it pass," he said as he left them sleeping in their room. Luckily for them, being reptilian, they didn't sweat, but quite a few times they'd kick back the blanket because it got too warm underneath. Solar had pulled the blanket over them after feeling a chill in their paws, but he knew they'd wake up and throw it off again. He had gotten into the habit of preparing a tray of food for them, chilling it a bit, then tending to them as their food warmed slightly--he'd found with Flare that this method somehow changed the juices in the fruit enough to give a soothing effect when consumed.
As he walked down the hallway, he saw a shadow duck out of sight. The elders were off looking for some healing herbs for something he planned to make for Cynder and Spyro, so Solar took it on himself to investigate. Pulling his toes up just a bit, he kept his claws from clicking on the stone floor as he quickly but silently crept along the passageway, like a serpentine feline. Around a corner he jumped and landed on a shadow that quickly vanished from sight as the dragon's claws extended into its neck. A container rolled to the opposite wall and Solar carefully inspected it. The smell was familiar...with a shock he realized it was a concentration of the same liquid that had begun bleaching Cynder's scales way back before the second portal! His eyes flared and he ran back to the tray of fruit he'd been preparing for them earlier, and took a deep sniff. Sure enough, that smell was on the fruit too. He swore under his breath and took the tray outside, and flung the fruits as far as he could before flying off to find more. He quickly cleaned his paws in the river and set about gathering fresh fruit for the two sick dragons.
In their room, Spyro opened his eyes with a groan, and Cynder opened hers when she heard him.
"I feel horrible," she said, rolling on her back.
"You're definitely not alone," Spyro replied. He grunted and clenched his eyes shut as his stomach tightened.
"I feel him nearby," Cynder muttered, shuddering. Spyro swallowed his pain and pulled Cynder to him, and she rolled over and hugged him tight. He gently petted her as she shivered against him.
"He won't get to you...but even if he does I'll do whatever I can to break his grip on you."
Cynder sighed and tucked her head against his neck. A memory came to her mind...even though it was gone in a moment, it left her thinking. Spyro's thin frame, though handsomely muscled, seemed pleasantly different from way back when they'd first started cuddling together...his chest seemed a bit more solid under her head, and there was more strength in his arms as he gently caressed her. Spyro felt that something had changed about Cynder, too...she too was stronger, but even though she's gained some muscle she was still slim and pretty. Spyro stretched his red wing over her, and she noticed that his wings were longer now than they had over a month ago.
"Spyro...have you noticed the changes in us ever since we fell in love?" she asked, looking him in the eyes.
"Yes...I can't explain it, but something is definitely changing us other than usual growth."
She giggled through her discomfort. "Must be because you're a purple dragon madly in love with his mate."
"Got that right," he said with a grin, nuzzling his nose against hers. She sighed happily and hugged him tighter before rolling onto her back as her insides throbbed. "Cynder...I wish this would go away..."
"Why?"
"I hate seeing you like this and not being able to do something about it..."
"Oh get over it," she said, stretching her foreleg out and lightly punching him in the chest. "Some things can't be avoided...you just stick to protecting me from what can be changed."
He reached out and tickled her side, and she laughed and rolled away. He got up to pursue, but fell back down as his head suddenly spun.
"You two need to rest," Solar said, coming into the room. As usual, he was walking on his hind legs as he carried their food and water. Spyro flopped back onto the bed and Cynder rolled over to watch as Solar laid his paw on Spyro's head. After a while he smiled and put their food tray and water bowls on the bed. "Well, I found out what is making you sick...actually, who."
They both sat up but Solar pushed them back down gently.
"Who?"
"The Dark Master, of course, but right now I can't tell if he's here doing it himself or if he sent a shadow to do his work."
"Did you get it?"
"I got whatever was sent in, but I couldn't tell if it was a shadow Spyro that slipped from me or if I killed a servant...but it was carrying this." His tail lifted up and he unwound it from around the container. "It's an enhanced version of whatever hit Cynder before the second portal."
They looked at each other, then back at Solar. "But how did we get it? Our scales aren't turning white..."
"You were eating it," Solar said, shaking his head, and they gaped at him. "I made the stupid mistake of preparing the food and then tending you before bringing it here. And whatever was sent here used that time to taint your meals. So, in part, it's my fault."
"Oh Solar, you didn't know," Cynder said, and Spyro nodded in agreement.
He looked at the floor with a half-smile and shook his head before looking at them again. "I do know this, though, without its constant presence in your systems, you'll heal a lot faster now." With that, he left them alone, and after eating and drinking what they could they snuggled together again and fell back to sleep.
Ignitus came back late that night with the other guardians, carrying the plants and roots Solar had asked about.
"What do you need all this for?" he asked as they placed their armfuls next to him on the ground under the balcony.
"I need to try something," he said, inspecting what they set down. "I have a hunch I may be able to concoct something to assist Spyro and Cynder in their battle against the Dark Master."
"What would this potion do?" Cyril asked.
"I wouldn't consider it a 'potion' so much, but an energy-booster," Solar said, not taking his bright blue eyes off the large flower he was holding. "I've been doing some research on plants around here and cross-referencing it with what I know from the databases back in Paralos, and I think I can make something that will give them enough firepower to take on the Master with their light powers."
"Is there anything else you'll need?" Volteer asked with a yawn. He was tempted to inquire about the process behind this development, but the flight had worn even his talkative and inquisitive energy.
"Probably, but right now I don't know. Thank you so much," he said, nodding to them, and they went inside. Solar spent the night studying the plants and roots, inspecting them closely and taking mental notes. He was actually grateful for one thing from his past experimentation--the enhancements he'd been forced through had given him a sharp memory. As he worked, testing small amounts of plant juices and remains with others in a bowl of water, he sat back and sighed, feeling Flare's nightly presence by him. She didn't say anything but he felt her there.
Up in the bedroom, Spyro was on his back, with Cynder in her usual spot on his chest. He stared at the ceiling...something was trying to tell him something, keeping him from sleeping, but what was it? Something about the three crystals they carried...His thoughts were interrupted when Cynder coughed and moaned on him, turning her head so he could see her face. He ran his paw along her black scales and a smile flicked over her mouth as he heard her breathe deeply. Her body was so hot to the touch, but he had noticed that her temperature had gone down.
A fit of coughing suddenly took him, and Cynder jumped up as he rocked onto his side, coughing.
"Sorry," he croaked, and coughed a few times more before rolling onto his back again.
"Oh Spyro..." she said pitifully, taking his paw in hers. As they looked into each others' eyes in the darkness, they both felt that familiar warmth in their tail-bases again and saw that look come into each others' eyes.
"Not here," Spyro said, and she nodded.
"Guess we'll hafta wait til we're better..." she said, and he pulled her closer to him.
"I know something we CAN do, though," he said, and their lips bonded and they slowly lost themselves to each other's love. After a while Cynder fell asleep, and Spyro held her close as he felt himself doze off.
Morning came a bit chilly, and the first rays shone on Spyro and Cynder as they sat by the riverside. Overnight their sickness had completely left and they felt fully renewed. Spyro closed his eyes with a deep breath of the morning air, and images of Cynder filled his mind. Something soft and sweet pushed its way onto his mouth, and he didn't need to think twice--he knew it was Cynder kissing him, and he pushed his mouth back with a small grin. She giggled and broke away, and he looked at her.
"I know what you're thinking," she said seductively, her eyes half-closed as she gazed into his. He smirked.
"Don't you always?"
She laughed, her paw slowly running its way up his emerging dragonhood. She kissed him and he grinned.
"I think I'll return the favor now."
"What favor?"
"Remember? After training a few days ago?"
His reply turned into a groan as she took hold of his member, teasing him as she slowly pulled up and down on it. The feel and sight of it excited her and before long she couldn't resist its allure. Spyro moaned as she took him into her mouth, flicking her tongue against his shaft. The smell and taste of his meat almost sent her into a frenzy as she sucked on him. Spyro's eyes opened when he smelled her leaking out of herself, and he groaned as her paws began rubbing his legs and sides as her tongue and lips caressed his pole. She was growing more and more aroused, as was he, but Spyro restrained himself. Cynder took her paws and began rubbing the part of his dragonhood she couldn't fit in her mouth, and Spyro shuddered, just barely holding himself back as the intense ecstasy nearly sent him flying.
She suddenly moaned as she unexpectedly climaxed, and Spyro gritted his teeth with a loud moan as her seal on him tightened and he smelled her fluids escaping her. Some pre-cum flowed from his cock and she desperately licked it off; it was an instant aphrodesiac that made her crave more. In the back of his mind Spyro thought she'd bite him accidentally in her excitement, but he knew her better. Cynder regained her control over herself and kept sucking on his member, feeling her own arousal growing again.
"Cynder...ooooohhh...I...I'm gonna..."
Unable to stand it anymore, Spyro relaxed his control on himself, and shouted as his own climax boiled up and he finally unloaded. Cynder shuddered uncontrollably and came as well with a loud, satisfied groan when she felt his seed filling her mouth. The taste was odd at first but she very quickly grew to like it, swallowing as much as she could get, trying but failing to keep up with the spurting waves as he moaned and released his load. She finally pulled back to swallow and watched him shoot two waves over her before he shuddered again, finally done. The mere sight of him coming nearly sent her over the edge again, but she was too worn out, and contented herself to cleaning him off. He lay back, panting, and she crawled up next to him.
"Think...think we should...get cleaned up?" he asked, and she nodded. He groaned and sat up, smiling at her. "That was awesome..."
"No need for thanks," she said, and she wanted to kiss him but her face was covered in his sticky cum. He chuckled at the sight of her, messy but pleased, and he led her down to the river, where he tenderly washed off her face. She reached under him and cleaned his sticky member, then leaned up and kissed him as he re-sheathed himself.
"That was fun for both of us," she sighed into his ear, and he hugged her close. They crawled out of the river, shook themselves off, and lay there, sharing passionate kisses as the sun slowly rose into the sky and warmed them.
"Y'know," Spyro said as they watched the sky's colors slowly change, "we still have that make-up to do for last night..."
"What, you still geared to go or something?!" she asked incredulously. He laughed.
"I could be...but I don't wanna impose myself on you. Just reminding ya." She nuzzled against his neck and he sighed and rested his head on hers. They stayed there, cuddling by the river until about midday, then went off to practice as much as they could with their lightbreath.
It was late in the evening when they all jumped. The discussion about the light crystals ended as everyone rushed to the balcony to see what Solar's roar had been about. He shot up from the ground excitedly, carrying a large bowl of beautiful blue liquid. He carefully set it down on the floor and fell on all fours, an excited grin on his face.
"I've done it!" he shouted happily. "I just know I have!"
"Done what?" Spyro asked, confused.
"I strongly believe I've created an energy-boost for your elemental power!" Solar replied.
"Really?!" Spyro and Cynder asked at the same time. Spyro's eyes narrowed a bit. "Is it safe?"
"That, I don't know," Solar said with a shrug. "But still, just the fact that it boosted my light abilities means it works. If there are any effects I'm pretty sure they'll be mild and easily cured." His arm suddenly twitched and he jerked to the side from the sudden loss of support. "I was afraid of that...guess it's not fully done yet..."
"Well, thanks anyway, Solar," Cynder said with a smile. Solar gave a half-smile but they could tell he was disappointed. He took the bowl back down to the ground outside and started his work again. Cynder yawned.
"Cynder, I think we should get some sleep," Spyro said, draping his wing over her. She leaned against him and he led her into the bedroom, where they both hopped up into the huge bed and got comfortable under the blanket as a chilly wind blew through the windows. Cynder yawned again and turned over to look at Spyro.
"Something's on your mind again."
"I just keep thinking...that other dragon in that last place said that Solar was gonna be the 'perfection of the purple dragon genetic code'..."
"What did he mean?"
"Solar explained to me that everyone has their own genetic coding that makes them unique, but there are also codes that determine a dragon's powers and such. Why would the Dark Master be trying to make a perfect purple dragon?"
"You do remember that he was the first ever purple dragon?"
"I know...I keep thinking that he might be looking for a body now that he's just a shadow...and I keep remembering what he said through me that day he was controlling everyone..."
"Well, he can't have my purple dragon," she said, wrapping her arms around him. He kissed her and draped his wing over her under the blanket, but as she fell asleep against him, he couldn't help but think about what was going on. Why was the Dark Master appearing like him and seeking to create the ultimate dragon? Was he thinking of taking Spyro--or trying to again?
Cynder's sweet breath and gentle heartbeat against his chest slowly lulled him into the peaceful darkness of rest.
The next morning was a busy one. Solar had everyone out and searching for some kind of suitable consumable medium for the light potion. It had to be a fruit, but couldn't be too sweet, too sour, too bitter, too large, or too small. By a chance too big to be coincidence, Spyro and Cynder found a lone bush with two perfect yellow berries, and they brought the berries back to Solar. The elders had returned without success, but Solar was overjoyed when the young couple brought back the two berries. He put the berries in the blue liquid and froze the thing solid.
"When it thaws, it should be ready," he said. "Meanwhile I want to see how far you two have come."
Spyro flew back and forth, gathering some target rocks, and he and Cynder gave a quick demonstration of their light skills, impressing Ignitus and the others as they accurately blasted the rocks with light.
"VERY impressive..." Ignitus said approvingly.
"Ignitus...something has been bothering me about all this," Spyro said. "Did the Dark Master...did he ever master light?"
"That, I do not know," Ignitus said, his face going dark. "I don't believe he did, but if he has, he must not realize its full potential. Way back during his lust for power, light was not known very well, in fact it was thought to be the one element dragons could not harness. When the Dark Master began controlling darkness, however, light was theorized to be the counter to his power. There is one telling that states when a dragon has gained one power--light or dark--he cannot fully understand the other, and use only comes through understanding. In his delving for power he grew evil, and evil favors darkness."
"But if he does know how to harness light?"
"Then your new attacks will only be like the others against him, and the battle will be far more difficult. Fighting him the first time was one thing, but a second time...he will be anticipating you. And because he is shadow, you will be hard-pressed to defeat him."
Cynder shuddered and leaned against Spyro.
"What if...what if he somehow gets Cynder and I can't free her?"
Ignitus looked at the ground. I'm afraid I don't know. She could either die in the struggle, having been wrenched away from his power; or she may fall under his sway again." A tear fell from Cynder's eye at the thought of going back to evil.
"I can't let that happen," Spyro said angrily. "Cynder's chosen her path now, as have I, and I won't let him take her back."
"Back to the paths thing now, are we?" Cyril asked. "I thought that had been settled a while ago."
"I won't let him take Cynder back now that she's free from him."
"What about yourself, Spyro? You nearly fell to darkness yourself in the Well of Souls. If he is indeed disguised as you, and has been, as Solar says, trying to create the 'perfect dragon', there is the chance he may try to take you."
"Spyro..." Cynder said in a small voice, shuddering against him, "please, when we finally face him, don't do anything stupid, okay?"
"I'll do what I must to protect you," he said, and she sighed, frustrated that she couldn't sway him in his own safety.
"Spyro, I know you're concerned about Cynder, but you must also think of your own safety," Terrador said. "No matter what happens in combat, you cannot let your cares get in the way or you too may fall. What hope is there then for the possible recovery of Cynder if you were to fall while protecting her?"
Spyro faltered with his reply and looked down, unable to retort.
Solar sighed and looked back at the bowl with the light concoction in it. "Well, it may be a bit awkward to butt in right now, but the berries are ready."
Cynder sauntered over to the bowl and Solar picked out one of the berries. It seemed like an edible crystal now--somehow it had turned into a gem-like candy. Spyro walked up next to her and watched as she slowly chewed on it. Solar handed him a berry and he ate it, and felt a strange, warm energy flow from his mouth to the rest of his body. They both suddenly felt a lot stronger, and Cynder turned around and shot light at the pebbles from their targets. The craters left behind from her powered-up breath left the others gaping.
"I don't dare try mine here," Spyro said, and they all chuckled in agreement.
Through the day, Cynder began feeling more and more anxious, and Spyro picked up on it instantly, worried about her. As night fell, Spyro joined Cynder out on the balcony, and she leaned against him.
"He's growing stronger, Spyro...I can feel him reaching out for me again..."
He draped his wing around her. "Think you're ready?"
She paused, her mind racing. "I don't know...I'm so scared, Spyro. What if...what if one of us dies or something awful happens?"
Spyro looked up at the hazy deep-violet sky as the sun's setting maroon light slowly waned. "The darkness is growing again..." he muttered, and shook his head. "Cynder, if anything does happen...I don't know either. But love is a powerful force...Solar says he senses a very strong bond between us, I have a feeling that it may help us in the conflict."
"But what if we don't defeat him for good?" she asked, looking up at him. "What if he comes back again?"
Spyro put his arm around her and gave her a little squeeze. "I don't know. But if--wait, not if, WHEN--we win, I bet we'll be stronger and more ready for his next return. Besides, something's making us stronger than normal growth, and I don't think it'll stop until we're fully grown. So by then, we'll be our own army. Besides, when I faced you, you were quite a fighting force yourself."
She giggled and he kissed her.
"What about our children?" she asked, and laughed as his eyes shot open. "No, Spyro, it hasn't happened yet...but when it does, what about them? If the Dark Master returns, he may try to get back at us by doing something to them."
He held her tight. "Nothing will happen, and if it does, there'll be hellfire to pay for the Dark Master or whoever tries to do anything to us or our future family."
She sighed at his determination and rested her head against his chest, looking up at the sky. She closed her eyes as his paw graced her scales lovingly, and she nestled against him and he held her tight against him. She growled a bit playfully at the pressure from his arms, and he rocked her back and forth gently as they sat there. She lifted her paw a bit and gazed at the gold and silver bracelet around her wrist, and closed her eyes, enjoying the motion as Spyro slowly and lovingly swayed her in his purple arms like she was a small child.
In the morning, Cynder found Spyro sitting on the balcony railing, staring off into the gray stormclouds gathering in the distance. He didn't seem to hear her, even as she jumped up and sat next to him, balancing herself on the edge like he was doing.
"Spyro?"
He started and slipped forwards off the railing with a yell. She shouted but sighed with relief as he flew back up and landed on the railing again.
"Don't...do that again..." he panted.
"I'm sorry...but something's bothering you again."
"Ignitus had that vision again, the one that had everyone acting weird around us a while ago...but he still won't tell me what is was. It has something to do with me and this upcoming battle..." He muttered something that sounded like "I sure hope it's not that dream I had..."
"Have you had any more dreams about Flare?"
"No...I think that now that she's able to communicate with Solar, she doesn't need me to help him soften up enough to let her through."
"How does she communicate with him, though?"
"No clue...but however it works, I'm glad Solar knows Flare is out there."
"When do we help him find her?"
"I don't think we can until this threat has subsided," he said, his face going dark as he looked at the stormclouds. "I have a feeling we will need to leave soon, and squash his rise to power as soon as we can."
"I don't want to face him again, but if you're with me, nothing can stop us," she said, leaning against him. He lay his head against hers. She smirked. "You know you want it."
Spyro laughed. "You know it too, obviously," he said. "You scare me with how well you sense my thoughts."
She leaned up and kissed him seductively, and he kissed right back. He restrained himself long enough to break away from her and fly up and off to the forest, with her close behind. Spyro landed first, and yelled in surprise when Cynder tackled him from above. Laughing, they scuffled for a bit before Cynder backed off and let him sit up. He caught her in a long, passionate kiss as they sat there, gazing into each other's gemstone eyes. Cynder smiled against his mouth and he leaned forward, pushing her to the ground under him. She murred and grinned at him, and he smirked back as he wrapped his tail around hers. She felt him slowly erect, and she spread her legs, and he arched his back just a bit so his dragonhood grew right into her eager sex. He slowly, very slowly pushed himself in, giving her pleasure as she slowly adjusted to his fullness.
"OOOhhhhhh...Spyro..." she moaned, closing her eyes and leaning her head back. He bent his head down as he finally thrust his cock fully into her, nibbling on her lower neck. Her breathing quickened with every light bite he gave, but he wasn't moving, and she growled and clenched her back legs together around him. He moaned loudly at this new sensation, and finally decided to relieve the stress on both of them, and with a powerful pull and shove that made Cynder shout he began that rythym they both loved. Cynder timed her hip movements with his thrusts, clenching her inner muscles around him and desperately but slowly trying to milk him. He groaned and caught her mouth with his, both staring into each others' eyes and losing themselves to the increasing pleasure as he thrust his dragon-cock deep inside her. He let her go and slowly titled his head back with a long groan of excitement
"Oh Spyro...I love you...so much..." she moaned, her tongue hanging out of her muzzle as her head reclined against the ground.
"And I love you...more than...even my own life..." he grunted, and as she lifted her head back up he caught her in a powerful, passionate kiss that fueled their desire for each other. She needed no words to tell him she wanted him harder and faster in her--he sensed her feelings and followed through, speeding up and pounding himself into her. He felt her coming close to the edge, but held nothing back as he buried his member inside her wonderfully warm depths. She moaned loudly and pulled his head to hers, locking him in yet another passionate, lustful kiss. The thrill of his strength and the sweetness of her finally sent them flying, and Cynder screamed his name as Spyro roared, assaulting her with a powerful, pulsing stream of his hot seed that sent shivers of pure ecstasy through her, causing her juices to leak out along his dragon-meat down to their tails as she took everything he offered. When finished, he was still standing somehow, and continued thrusting in her, pleasuring her until his softening cock wouldn't allow him to continue. Spyro fell onto his side as he retracted out of her, and she turned to look at him. Both their eyes shone brilliantly with love, and he stretched his neck and kissed her. After a while she finally broke away.
"Did you really mean what you said?"
"About what?"
"Loving me more than life itself?"
"I love you far more than my own life, because now you are my life."
She smiled and fell into another deep, loving, blissful kiss as he pulled her towards him and held her tight, and she played with his tongue inside that bond of love. How she loved feeling those powerful arms hold her so secure and safe...She wrapped her wing over him and they lay there, lost to each other in pure bliss and contentment, their tails slowly brushing against each other.
