Tavi had just finished one of his new morning walks and sent his younger brother back home. He wasn't sure if he should call them patrols, after all he was just aimlessly wandering the lower areas of Skyback mountain. He believed he had pinpointed most of the small streams and creeks that were around along with locating the most suitable human campsites. He had only encountered three humans so far besides the rangers, two had been just walking near one of the lower roads. Tavi waited over an hour till they started climbing higher before he showed himself. The couple had excitedly called when the saw him, the female flashing several pictures before he growled and advanced. Wisely they had backed away and after another half hour made there way back down to the road and then down further where they had left their car.

The other human was his first meeting with a trainer. Tavi had smelled the smoke and found the camp before anyone else had. A small fire had been started and the near adult female had a small pot she was setting on a stand over the flame. As he watched she pulled out a long cloth bag out of her very large backpack. With in moments Tavi realized the canvas of a small tent that she was starting to lay out. Acting the Flareon dashed out grabbing the pot and dumping the warming water out over the flames in a hiss of smoke and steam.

Turning at the noise she quickly noticed and called out. "A Flareon!" Her eyes squinted as she dropped a hand to her belt and grabbed a pokeball. "Bella GO!" The human cried tossing the ball.

Tavi decided the best course of action was to ignore both her and the Delcatty she had released. He stepped closer and toss the pot near her pack before going back and yanking the metal stand out it had been sitting on. The Flareon turned and kicked dirt over the remains that still burned figuring that it should be fine till he had a chance to check on it later as he tossed the stand to the pot.

"Hey what do yo think your doing?" The girl asked surprised at what she was watching. With speed that astonished the trainer Tavi tackled the cat and latched onto the scruff of its neck and the purple fur surrounding it. The Delcatty was only able to utter a cry of shock as her neck and head were drove in to the dirt pinned under the Flareon. "Stop what are you doing!" The female cried rushing forward. Tavi actually bit in to the neck and heard a small cry of pain before he shifted and started dragging the cat out of the clearing.

Seeing the girl grabbing for a pokeball he rolled on to the Delcatty and pinned it against his chest and blocked the red beam which hit his back harmlessly. "Let her go!" She cried tossing out her only other pokeball calling out a Bulbasaur. The human had run to the side hoping to come at Tavi from a different direction while he was distracted with the Bulbasaur.

Tavi stood up and turned not to the other pokemon but to the large pack that was sitting a ways off. He blew out a short burst of flame over the backpack which held the girls belongings before he laid down part way on top of the cat. He saw the shock on the trainers face at the thought of possibly losing all her equipment. Tavi knew the nights could still be very cold and the days cool, the loss of clothing and the tent near by was a very real threat.

"Flar eee on/You have to leave." He told the human.

"Bullllba/Make us." The plant pokemon spoke trying to sound intimidating. Tavi turned back to the Delcatty which seemed to still be whimpering slightly under him and unwilling to act. A few times Tavi had battles where desperate trainers threw out inexperience or worse pampered pokemon who were basically useless and the Delcatty had seemed to do nothing but cry or whimper since she was tackled.

"Stand up." He said moving around to behind the cat. He bumped hard on her rear when she refused to move.

"Jacob, Razor leaf." The girl cried out. Tavi just hunched and waited as most of the leaves shot by. Obviously the Bulbasaur was either a lousy aim or to worried about harming the other pokemon.

"Get up and walk or I will bite you much harder than last time." He told the feline. The Delcatty gained its paws then darted forward in a bid for freedom. Tavi kept pace and just before she could dart around a bush he tripped her up and sent her tumbling.

"Leave her alone!!" The Bulbasaur charged forward only to come to a skidding halt when the Flareon opened its mouth and the trainer screamed for him to stop.

"Jacob stop!" She called again, "Please Mr. Flareon. Please let Bella go." She was almost in tears begging the flame pokemon.

Tavi stared hard at the Bulbasaur wondering if a flame attack might help things along, "Jacob?" He asked receiving the slightest of twitches in response. "Go pack you trainer's stuff. Your leaving now or all three of you are going to end up hurt."

It seemed the threat to his trainer was a far more effective motive than anything else causing the Bulbasaur to hurry to the back and try shoving the pot and a few of the other items back inside. "Bulb!" Was its only answer to the near frantic females questions. Tavi sat beside the Delcatty waiting while the grass pokemon finally made the girl understand as he tried to fold up the canvas as she zipped closed her pack and heaved it up onto a shoulder.

With the canvas shoved under one arm and the flexible poles in the other hand the human stumbled after the Bulbasaur. Tavi had the feline moving before she got to close keeping at least ten feet between himself and the human and Bulbasaur. It took Tavi more than an hour to move the group far enough down the mountain for his liking. They crossed two rutted paths and a small dirt road before the Flareon stopped at a small glade where one of the creeks widened out making a small shallow pool to one side.

When he allowed the Delcatty to run to its owner crying Tavi moved over to the waters edge digging out a root of one of the plants growing there. Remembering what he had been taught he gently rolled the root against a rock under the water removing most of the dirt but trying not to tear the skin or remove many of the tendrils before he carried it back to the trainer. Before he was even half way there Jacob jumped forward. Tavi wasn't paying much attention till he realize the Bulbasaur had shot something at him.

The Flareon could feel the sudden rush of growth as the seed twined into his fur and began digging into the skin underneath his coat. Tavi snorted, Leach seed, hardly and effective attack against him but he was betting it was one of the grass pokemon's more powerful moves. He literally sidestepped the pokemon as it tried to tell him to stay away. Tavi kept going to the female who had the Delcatty pulled up into her lap. He dropped the root and huffed at the feline watching as it buried her head farther into her trainers stomach and began shivering in fear. "Chew on this, swallow the juice and spit out the rest. It will help you relax." In truth it was supposed to help muscle pains but he remembered the Leafeon telling him it could do both.

Tavi stepped back turning away suddenly hearing movement. He spun and caught the charging Bulbasaur on the nose as he used its head as a spring board to vault over its body. As the grass pokemon's nose hit the ground it caught causing him to tumble end over end and land flat out on its stomach. The Flareon walked a few feet out near to the center of the clearing. He reached his mouth over his back and bit hard into the seed as he felt the first light pull on his energy. With the best grip he had Tavi tore the seed away with his teeth taking along bits of fur and skin as it ripped away.

The one thing Tavi knew was that this couldn't be about being nice or leaving trainers with wounded pokemon. The Flareon let his internal heat rise pushing hard as the glade warmed around him. This was his first encounter as guardian and what he wanted most was to show was Power!! He let out a Flame thrower blast straight into the air creating a column of fire that topped more than twenty-five feet and radiated enormous waves of heat.

"Jacob Return." He heard the girl cry after just the first few seconds. 'Good.' Tavi though maybe she understood and he wouldn't have to harm her pokemon at all. Tavi held the attack for as long as he could making sure it didn't waver or falter. He took several deep breaths watching the female hold her Delcatty tight. The Flareon raced out of the clearing howling as it went charging back the way it came.

"Strong and Firm. Force the humans to leave or make them if you need to." The words echoed as he ran home. He wondered how far he would have to go when a real challenge presented itself.

Tavi got back to his den just as the sun was setting sighing to himself seeing the Lombre named Mince already waiting outside. "I'm hungry." The pokemon complained.

"I showed you where to find food, even helped you find a den with a food store. What.." Tavi started.

"It's all gone." Mince interrupted, "and it is hard to find any food."

'GONE?' Tavi thought to himself. He had helped the Lombre move less than a week ago with a store that could have feed his family for twice that long. "I'm not helping you tonight. I am tired and I haven't eaten yet either." The hopeful look in the other face really was beginning to irritate the Flareon, the Lombre along with two others were nearly useless on their own. It wasn't the first time he wished he could drive them out too. They were lazy, caused problems, and he was not sure which, but one of them was now stealing food rather than gather it.

Tavi moved into his den, it was a small cave that was hidden by bushes. It was large enough for a nice size family and the previous pokemon had had pulled in dirt and packed it down covering the rock floor and making a nice livable area. The Flareon walked over and curled up into his nest that he had build to one side of the cave watching as the Lombre struggled in behind him and began sniffing and poking around in the dark. "Did you need something else?" Tavi asked once he was comfortable.

"Where is the food?" Mince asked.

"There isn't any." The Flareon stated.

"But you said you were hungry.... What you won't share?" The Lombre seemed upset stamping its feet in the dirt figuring that Tavi was hiding something edible.

"I don't get to eat unless I find something to eat. I didn't have the time today and I am tired so I am going to sleep. Not everyone get to eat everyday sometimes you go without." Actually Tavi still had plenty of energy and it wasn't do dark yet but he was damn tired of the whining.

"Your supposed to take care.." "I AM NOT YOUR TRAINER or your mother." He barked out stopping the other. "I am guardian of the mountain if you don't like it here leave! Either way," Tavi stood growling as he stepped forward, "you will leave my den now or I'll make sure food is the last thing you will be worrying about." The growl and threat was enough to have the Lombre scrambling out of the den into the night.

Tavi grumbled to himself as he curled back up. Everyone seemed to think he was here to fix their problems. True most had settled right in several even working together the first few days but now since a few of them had dug up and gorged on most of the unused winter stores many had to work to find fresh food or edible plants and roots that were just sprouting. Then he had been approached by Politoed who claimed that several of the fish she had caught in the pond near the mountains base were gone, taken. It wasn't that he didn't believe the Politoed she had passed out fish before to those who had really been hungry, it was the fact that she expected him to take care of the problem.

He was still mulling the problem over days later when a cry sounded in the trees, the human alert. He finally felt he knew it was some kind of pokemon in the trees that made the noise but every time he heard it he never had time to ask questions and when he could he never thought to. Tavi made a quick check though the area before heading down. As it turned out he found more rangers this time with four vehicles. The Flareon growled as he backed away, they were going to dump more pokemon who needed care. He almost thought of turning away before he had a bright spark of inspiration. Running back up the hill he quickly gathered the Lombre, a Servine, and the Purugly who he nearly had to drag out of its den to get it moving. He told them only that he had a new place for them that was far better than here. With more inciting words he led them back to the rangers.

The Servine realized what was happening first and tried to bolt when he heard the commotion ahead. With a howl and a bark that was sure to catch the humans attention Tavi used agility and swiftly caught the Servine pinning it to the ground as it twisted and wriggled under him. By the time he had drug the struggling pokemon out into the open three rangers had come forward. The Flareon growled keeping the other pinned as he looked around, already there was a dozen pokemon out of their cages and still more were being freed as he watched.

He bullied the Servine forward letting out just the tiniest puff of flame on its back when it used a vine to whip at him. It was a struggle and the rangers seemed to be doing nothing even when Tavi tried to scratch at the front of one of the closed empty cages. After rolling around a bit more one of the rangers finally opened the cage. When Tavi turned to look the Servine made a last bid for freedom throwing its head backwards and slamming into the Flareon's muzzle causing him to stumble away.

The Servine made a dozen yards dodging two rangers before it was struck in the side by a yellow glowing beam. It stumbled but still kept its feet moving forward till it crashed into a bush. The grass pokemon twisted and thrashed before it rolled out and back onto its feet running directly back towards the rangers. It took several minutes for them to get the pokemon into the cage while it struggled. After smashing into the wire sides several times it flopped down and kicked its feet uselessly into the air.

Wondering if he was going to have to spend the day searching out the other two Tavi called out for the Lombre and Purugly glad when the pair came out of hiding slowly creeping forward before stopping a short way from the Flareon. "Neither of you belong here." Tavi spoke plainly. "The rangers will find you a home." Rather than force them into cages he made them both sit in front of a ranger and turned his attention to the pokemon who had already been let loose.

Although it had been obvious that a few had made a dash for freedom the Flareon told himself they wouldn't likely be a problem. He spent hours questioning every pokemon left and out of the twenty-seven he spoke to five he sent back to their cages.

"Please. Please." Tavi heard the cry from the Servine as they began loading up his cage. "Let me out. I promise I won't steal anymore." Although he hadn't been sure the confirmation angered the Flareon as he marched to the cage growling. He was actually stopped by a ranger before he could reach the cage.

"We will take it away that should be enough for you." Tavi huffed a few times in irritation at the human before he gathered the rest of the pokemon and headed back up the mountain. He pointed out some of the best areas he had found but still had dozen pokemon when he got closer to the area where most were living.

The group slowed hearing the Rattata yelling in the trees calling them to stop and several others along the ground who were standing in the way stopping the Flareon from going forward. Next was an argument filled with barks, wails, squeaks, and all manner of noises. Tavi shook his head unsure what exactly he was supposed to do. It wasn't like he could send the pokemon back and several of the pokemon stopping them hadn't been here that long anyway. It shocked him when he heard Leafeon take control of the argument.

"Enough all of you!! This used to be a place of happiness. A spot where pokemon could live and raise families and enjoy life. If that is what you want then each of you has a right to be here. Does anyone not want to live here?" The question seemed to be taken seriously by everyone and considered by all as the grass pokemon gazed over the group. "That Flareon," Tavi flinched from the callous introduction, "promised to protect the whole mountain which means all the sides so there is plenty of room. And when other pokemon hear of it they will move here as well. If your gonna yell and scream every time someone new shows up you will end up wasting a lot of time accomplishing nothing. Unless some of you are willing to harm others who only want the same thing you do, A safe place to live."

Tavi stepped towards his father when he finished speaking trying to thank or talk to him but the Leafeon growled turning away. He could hear the words, "Stupid Fool." muttered amongst the growl as the grass pokemon left. Tavi looked back over the group before hanging his head and heading home. What did it matter that this time he had made sure every pokemon who he brought up seemed willing to try and work to survive. They wanted him to fix problems but when he tried no one seemed to care and no one even realized that the problem pokemon were gone.

After a near sleepless night Tavi guided several of the newcomers around to spots where he felt there would be homes that would work well for those who had yet to find one. In the late morning he was left walking up a rocky slope following a small strip of water that shifted and worked its way down the rocks to become a small creek below. He had a Larvitar in tow the last pokemon who seemed unpleased with all the places so far. The male had asked to be called Stream and wanted to find a home as close to water as possible. Although any normal Larvitar might stay away he had always liked to play and listen to water and wanted his home near some water that moved and made sound.

The two crested the rise and came to a wide grass meadow or at least that was what it seemed like. It wasn't very wide but seemed to run quite a ways back. On one side was a sharp rocky area which ran with the curve of the mountain back to a cliff and the other side seemed to rise some then drop off. After the first few steps the ground lowered slightly and Tavi stepping into a spongy moss like growth that left his paws soaked and water spots where his paws had been placed.

It wasn't but two steps before the Larvitar squealed playfully running out splashing its paws among the growth that hid a few inches of water. The Flareon continued to carefully walk out noticing a spot clear of green. The area was no bigger than his body and near the center the water seemed to build up like a mushroom as it sent ripples out across the small puddle.

"A spring how awesome is that. I want to stay here!" The pokemon said jumping back to Tavi before he ran off again. "Look there is another one over here." He cried a ways off. The Flareon headed towards the back side where there was a sharp drop of a dozen plus yards where a dense growth of brush at its base. Tavi considered the area it would be impossible for Stream to climb the rise behind the brush but if it could be used as a den then the whole water field would be his front door. Also they way they came wasn't to bad but it might make carrying any food up difficult.

His thoughts were interrupted as Stream raced by trying to reach the brush ahead of the Flareon. Tavi shook his head and changed directions again heading to check out the one side he couldn't see well. After a few paces the ground climbed slightly and dried out. What at first looked like it might be another steep drop or cliff turned out to be a two foot drop before the ground leveled out and in the next ten feet it squeezed together forming a path that hugged the mountain side. Tavi followed the path taking a turn around a corner and stopped, this side had a slope that leveled out more and wasn't as sheer as the other side. The path continued to run along the mountainside until it reached a forested area. It was by no means the lush growth further down and still seemed like it held short drops but it definitely held berry bushes and other food stuff. It wouldn't be easy but if Stream wanted he could easily live here especially if he wanted some privacy. It would be quite a hike back before he found any company but the Larvitar seemed far more interested in water than other pokemon.

The two met later as Tavi was making a meal out of some of the more riper spring berries, they were small hard and tart but still filling and suited the Flareon's mood of the past two days. After agreeing to check back with Stream in a few days Tavi made his way back home.

"Tavi?" The Flareon's mind jumped even as his nose twitched telling him it was his sister, "Tavi?" she repeated.

"Umbreon." He tried sounding awake and alert even though his mind was still mostly asleep and his body craved more rest. The weather had dried which was a nice break from the showers and drizzly days so he had begun the task of chasing more humans off including a fight with two trainers on the previous day who took turns trying to capture him. After doing some serious damage to several pokemon the pair decided to back out and head for a pokemon center.

"Are you okay?" She asked. Suddenly Tavi could feel her body as she rubbed against him fur ticking his side.

"Just tired, what did you need?" As he tried to stand she leaned over him and flopped on top pinning him down before she rolled off with her paws still over his back.

"Sorry." Umbreon said giggling, "It's early go back to sleep. We can talk when you get up." Tavi waited while she adjusted herself curling up around him as he slowly started drifting off again. He felt her paws around his neck pulling his head over into an embrace. After a moment of trying to wriggle away he gave up and slipped back in to sleep as the Umbreon hugged him giving an occasional licks to the back of her brothers head.

He woke up hours later, it was mid morning and for some reason he was now feeling charged, full of energy, and even playful. Tavi could hear his sisters rhythmic breathing but still felt her paws tighten around his neck when he tried to move away. Trying not to wake her the Flareon wiggled forward in her paws till she was gripping more around his shoulders. He gently rolled until his paws were under him and scooted in till he was pressing against her chest. Tavi stretched his neck and head out and in one quick motion bit the scruff and side of her neck hauling her forward while he stood up and rolled over. The result was that Umbreon went into a tumble with him till he let go making her land hard on the opposite side of the den before he pounced on her side licking her long ears as she struggled under him trying to figure out what had happened.

Umbreon couldn't help giving an odd purr when she realized what he was doing. Maybe he was willing to go much farther than she expected. "You know dad told me to leave." She informed him pressing herself to the ground while pushing her hind quarters up some.

Tavi kept licking even as he slid of his sister. "Of course he does." The Flareon finally stood up when his belly rumbled. Umbreon scurried forward pushing her way out of the den before him wagging her tail and scent in front of him. When Tavi exited his den he watched his sister staring out into the forest while her tail wagged excitedly behind her. He slowly stretched out, it was later than he normally woke but he felt extra energetic and decided a quicker patrol today would be good then he could spend some of the afternoon with his sister.

Umbreon looked back over her shoulder keeping her tail high and wiggling her butt behind her only to see he wasn't watching, he was walking away! "Hey, are you just going to leave me here?" Umbreon demanded of her brother.

"Something to eat then a quick patrol." Tavi muttered to himself but loud enough so she could hear. He turned at her growl watching as she advanced. "What!?" he finally asked when she was just a foot away and huffing at him.

"You're going to just leave me here like this?" Umbreon spat out. Even if he was her brother and she should probably leave, those licks on her ears had said he was interested and got her a little more heated. Now he had backed off like she didn't even exist, brother or not she wasn't going to let him play with her like this.

"Sis. I am the guardian here, I'll look around quick and come right back." Actually Tavi was finding it hard to be still. He wanted to run, jump, roll. For a moment he had an image of pouncing on his sister and playing again like when they were cubs. He even took a step forward considering the leap when she sat down grinning.

"So, you don't mind.... if we send the afternoon together?" She asked in a sultry little tone.

"Of course not. I won't ever be like dad and try to kick you out. You're welcome to stay as long as you like." Tavi spoke firmly and with irritation over the fact she had ended up in his den before dawn because of their father.

"Dad was thinking about Eevee." Tavi tried to puzzle out what his sister had just said as she stood up and rubbed up against him. "All right." Umbreon spoke again.

"All right what?" The Flareon spoke as he leaned against his sister. He was having trouble following what his sister was saying and began rocking on his paws once again feeling the need to do Something besides stand there.

Umbreon laughed as she jumped away crouching just a few feet away wiggling her rear as she looked back. "Let's go!" Seeing he hadn't even stepped forward she wondered if she shouldn't entice him more rather than try and help him finish his patrol. "I'll come help. You said food first right?"

Tavi turned and exploded forward leaping clear over his sister and charged off into the brush. He felt like he was floating as his paws directed his body around trees and over shrubs. The Flareon could hear and feel the Umbreon follow as she strived to catch up. Only once before had he charged this recklessly down the slopes. That time worry and fear drove him, this time it was sheer joy.

Being reckless though has its consequences he wasn't quite able to clear one bush when he leaped. His fore paw was snagged by the end of a broken branch and caught long enough to twist the Flareon's body. Tavi hit the ground leg sliding under him as he was slammed into the dirt. He tried to roll and nearly ended up on his feet only to collapse a second later without breath or balance both robbed from the impact.

Tavi laid shuttering and gasping for air that seemed to thin to help his body. He could hear a roar in his ears and his mind seemed close to blacking out as he continued dragging in lung fulls of air which he expelled a second later.

The two rough licks on his muzzle combined with the soft voice helped him try to gain some control, "Relax, slower breaths."

"Can't.... breett." He gasped. The tongue resumed lapping at his muzzle and the side of his face. "Relax everything will be fine." She spoke soothingly.

When he was calm enough to open an eye he nearly got her tongue in it as she continued licking and soothing her brother. She was able to get him into a seated position and helped him lean against her placing a paw and leg over his back while she rested her head on top of his. Suddenly Umbreon was reminded of Eevee and the fact that she actually stood taller than both her brothers. Thoughts of size vanished as he turned and nuzzled himself against her chest letting out a long slow breath.

"Feeling better?" She asked squeezing him closer and wrapping her tail around his rear. Tavi took several breaths through his sisters fur feeling the same restless energy building again as he tried to pull away and stand on his own.

The Flareon took a few slow breaths before he walked forward waving with his tail for his sister to follow. There was an Oran berry bush nearby that might provide him with a few berries and several plants nearby that might provide him with a meal.

After several quick bites he led her to several places where he could look out at some of the smaller roads looking for parked cars. Another half hour and they had checked the most likely camping sites and clearing where humans were likely to hang out. Tavi dropped down on a grassy slope stretching out in the sunlight relaxing out the last of the mornings event. The Flareon was lost in his own thoughts but smiled as he felt a nose nuzzling down his chest with light licks making him automatically spread his hind legs.

It wasn't until several rather rough licks were placed against his sheath did his eyes snap open in surprise seeing a black form over him. Tavi tried to press his legs closed as heat rushed to his face and member while he used his forepaws against her sides to move her away. She moved but not in a way that he expected. A second later he was staring at her rear which started a few inches away from his muzzle giving him an unobstructed view of her slightly swollen folds.

More powerful than any magnet his eyes were drawn to the light red puffy skin in the sea of black fur. His head moved forward with mouth hanging open as every sense he had soaked up what was in front of him. Umbreon tried to stay still as her brother moved so that there was the barest space that could be considered one between his nose and her sex. It felt like each inhale was being drawn off her sex while each exhale rushed over her sensitive skin leaving her quaking and fighting against each simple breath just to stay still and quiet.

For Tavi the seconds raced by as he squeezed his eyes shut and his mind began blurring with multiple images and scenes that had been invading both night and day dreams over the past week now that spring was in full swing.

"Leafeon." He whispered seeing only the pokemon that had been present in those dreams since he had spoken with his father. Umbreon gave a yip of surprised fear as she tore down the slope and buried herself in the brush. Her heart hammered in near terror at the thought of her father catching her with her tail lifted for her brother especially after what happened last year with Jolteon.

"Sis?" She could hear her brothers puzzled call as she gained enough courage to drag her head out the the bush she was under. With only her head sticking out she scanned the area twice sniffing deeply and trying to find any hint of a scent beyond her own or her brother. She waited as he walked down to her sitting not but a foot away. Anger built up as she stared at her brother. Did he think this was some game? She was so furious she couldn't even convey her feeling with a growl, 'I will tear him apart if he start laughing.' she promised herself.

She watched him dip his head and try to poke his nose into the brush, "Your in heat!" Tavi spoke with both surprise and awe.

"Of course! What do you think..." She had to stop even through her anger she could see the genuine shock as he drank in her scent once more.

"You... we..." Tavi stopped having no clue what to say. Umbreon finally stepped out sitting so close she could stare at his eyes and nearly pick out the individual hairs on his nose. Could he not understand? Last night she had almost had Eevee mounting her before her father stopped him and explained a few things before literally forcing his daughter to leave she had spent half the night alone before thinking to pay her brother a visit.

"Tavi?" She asked when he turned and walked away. She could feel the confusion and uncertainty as she followed the Flareon back up the hill and all the way back to his den. When they were finally outside he turned to confront her.

"Dad made you leave because of Eevee." He said trying to piece together the bits in his mind which seemed to keep breaking each time he made a revelation when it fit together.

"Yes" She spoke softly waiting a moment before asking her own burning question. "Why did you try to call Dad?" She watched as he dipped his head in pure embarrassment. He had to swallow a few times before he could finally articulate an answer.

"I wasn't thinking about Dad." Tavi told his sister. She considered for a moment trying to put together a few things her younger brother had said, and the fact he still seemed so surprised with the revelation of her condition. She gave up after a moment she was having a hard time just thinking as her body now was making its needs more known now that her shock from earlier was forgotten.

Umbreon walked down her brother's side sniffing under his tail as she felt him shiver when her nose bumped into his sac. His scent spoke volumes she could still smell his musk and even his sense his arousal on the other side of those two orbs. She wondered exactly how much it would take as he sidestepped slightly when she rubbed back up his other side.

"Have you ever been with a female before brother?" She asked.

Tavi ate a few berries before he sad down a few feet away from Eevee. The brothers sat in silence for a while before the young pokemon began nosing himself between his legs. After a few moments, realized his brother was intently watching, he stopped embarrassed. "I can't help it ever since dad made Sis leave it's all I can think about." Tavi nodded even as the Eevee continued. "Dad explained this morning about all the mating stuff and how it's bad for brothers and sisters to be mates after she left." After a long pause the young pokemon continued, "I guess it's bad for brothers too." He said with a slight wishful tone.

Tavi wasn't sure it was all that bad for brothers and sister to mate but he was not going to argue against his father since he could understand why he would tell his brother that. Leafeon wanted his kids to go out and find mates and have families. He pictured for a moment having Umbreon as his mate as he sat there. Visions of mating his sister filled his mind and thoughts of Eevee cubs living in his den. "Listen I know your saying that for Eevee you want all of us to go out and have families I understand." He told his father.

Tavi listened as his father laid down. "You don't understand." With that Leafeon explained everything beyond the fact he wished for his children to be productive. He explained the simple facts that inbreeding could sometimes produce sterile eggs or worse sometimes those eggs hatched things that shouldn't have been given life and that they usually didn't live long. Listening to his father Tavi asked several simple questions one being 'did that always happen' which his father replied it was uncommon but better not done in the first place.

Before they finished Tavi finally asked, "So then how do you explain today?"

After nearly a minute of silence Leafeon spoke, "That was your fault, and mine. I might have been able to control Eevee if you and Umbreon had just separated at the start. But you reeked of her and it was driving me nuts. I used the excuse to go after Umbreon to try and run off some energy and clear my head. I realize when I got back that it hadn't helped." He took a moment and lowered his voice some so that Tavi had to work to hear. "There are times in spring when males play around when they are driven to it, some even really enjoy it. But still it shouldn't happen with family." If Tavi hoped for more he didn't get it as Leafeon stood up with a grumble and walked back into the den. The Flareon wasn't surprised to see a slight shadow movement within the den as his father walked away.

Tavi spent the next week checking in on his father and brother before taking the Eevee out with him on patrol. But," he said as the Eevee turned to stare at him, "she hasn't been gone long yet and trust me no matter what happens she knows where home is, she will come back when she wants to." Tavi allowed Eevee to snuggle against his side for a while before he told the young pokemon to go home.

"Humans?" Eevee asked.

"Maybe." He answered, "I need to check it out." The truth was he wanted to be alone for a bit. Part of him was worried that Umbreon hadn't come back because she was worried about her father and what had almost happened between them. He knew the Leafeon wouldn't offer any help on this matter and would not be happy if Tavi left for a few days to try and find his sister. All he could do at the moment was keep waiting and hope that she either came back or somehow let them know what happened.

Tavi was very busy the next day which started out with rangers who this time brought in whole families which were being relocated from another area, there were even three mothers who were egg heavy. The Flareon went back to find the Nuzleaf who had actually requested to be returned if the rangers came back and then began the task of helping the new pokemon. He made six trips through out the day with the rangers help trying to situate families into spots that were unclaimed. Then he worked hard to the entire afternoon with several others including rangers to clean out, fix up, or feed the new arrivals. When the humans finally left they took the time to inform Tavi that they wouldn't be doing this again and that the area was now an official pokemon preservation area and that poaching in any form would be dealt with. They told the Flareon he was free to protect how he chose but needed to make sure not to try and harm any humans unless there was no other choice. Tavi waited until all the rangers were finally gone before he trekked back.

He woke the next morning to an excited Eevee who wanted his brother to take him to all the new homes since he heard there were other young pokemon and cubs so that he wouldn't be the only young one anymore. The two quickly found that although many had more than appreciated the help yesterday today they were treated like unwanted guests, some to the point of shooing the cubs inside and guarding the entrance. Tavi was unable to answer his brothers questions as to why he couldn't play or even talk with the others but it was actually the Rattata's voice that supplied the answer.

"You boys really don't have a clue." Tavi groaned inwardly at hearing the voice and tried to quiet his brother as he asked a question.

"Why don't they want us around?" Eevee spoke.

Much to Tavi's surprise the Rattata climbed down to a lower branch just a few yards overhead. "Eevee you've grown up and you are no longer a cub. How do you think you own father would react at hearing two healthy male brothers were interested in meeting the family especially the cubs." There was a slight pause as he continued, "in spring no less." Tavi instantly understood what the rodent was saying suddenly seeing all the meaning in the polite 'thank you's' and veiled attempts to get them to leave.

"But we just wanted to play." Eevee whined while the Flareon wondered how many of their new neighbors now had the wrong idea.

"Come on let's go." Tavi said giving his brother a heavy nudge with a shoulder, "We will try something different tomorrow." They kept walking but this time Tavi kept his distance as he pointed out the last few occupied dens. The last was a family of five, Linoone and Zigzagoon, who were all outside. The parents collecting some spring berries while the little ones tumbled over each other near by. Tavi called out a hello and sat down still a ways away but said nothing as Eevee started creeping forward.

Linoone and likely the father came forward but seeing that the Eevee was only concentrating on the cubs and unable to control the wiggle of his butt and wagging tail slowed the confrontation long enough for one adventurous cub to hop forward and start creeping up towards the Eevee. Linoone chuckled seeing the group now tearing around in a long circles, loops, and twists chasing after the Eevee as it tried to say ahead of the small pack. "It's no problem they are obviously having fun."

"Actually." Tavi spoke in a much quieter voice. "I think it might be a problem." The Flareon quickly summed up the mornings actions and asked the Linoone if he could just pass the word along that they were harmless. "Eevee is nearly full grown or maybe he is but he had no one but my father and sister to be around. And this spring she left and he is even more lonely. If they want him to wait until after spring I understand, I just hope not to many really think we're trying to find any female to rut."

The Linoone took a moment to answer. "We heard a lot yesterday about both you and what happened before, I imagine life would be very hard on a cub and no I am not worried about your brother playing with my sons and if I get a chance I can speak with some of the others. Nearly all of us came from one area. The humans came in with big noisy yellow machines, they tore up a spot of earth knocked a few trees down. The next day they set out traps and had more humans than I had seen in my whole life with pokemon that helped them. They caught everyone, all the families like mine were brought here, I don't know where they took the rest. But I suppose that is far better than what happened here."

Tavi could now sense the unspoken question that had seemed to plague many of the newcomers. "You don't have to worry anymore. Humans made this a protected area and I will guard it." He waited a moment while the Linoone considered what he had said. "Eevee it's time to head home." The chase which had dissolved into a form of (tag/follow the leader) broke apart into whining cubs and a slow moving Eevee.

"It's time you helped carry these inside." The female Linoone called out to the Zigzagoon.

"Don't worry we will come back." Tavi's words had a cheering effect on the young ones and a few moments later the brothers were on their way.

They joked with each other on the way home Tavi happy to see his brother really smiling since the first time Umbreon had left. Not paying any attention to what was around them the two had nearly stumbled into a mating pair of pokemon. The area was suddenly thick with both male and female scents, grunting, and an the occasional squeal. Tavi shook his head trying to clear it as he looked for the fastest path out while Eevee had stepped forward breathing deep.

The Flareon hissed at his brother who was now several feet away staring around a bush. When he rushed over to scruff the Eevee his attention was caught by the movement around the bushes corner. They had come upon the very end of the mating, the light purple Nidoran had collapsed seed clearly leaking from her rear as the Nidorino stepped away. The two brothers stared at the female's rear just a few feet in front of them, that was until the male had turned snorting at them growling and looking ready to charge.

Tavi hauled his brother back and the two fled the area. Unthinking he guided them back to his den instead of his fathers where he had meant to drop the Eevee back off. The Flareon had arrived back a few moments before his brother, dropping down and trying to remember what his father had told him. They should go to the stream, or roll in something strong scented, or... Tavi's mind froze as he felt the Eevee's muzzle nudging between his hind legs and felt the tongue lap against his sheath.

Leafeon was waiting at the entrance to the tunnel for the den when they finally arrived. Both looked guilty and avoided their fathers gaze as he looked them over. Tavi was sure no matter what they had done to clean up his father was still going to scent the fact they had played around. "Your sister is back." He spoke rather loudly startling them both. With a little yip Eevee hopped forward only to stop because father still hadn't moved. "She isn't here."

"Where is she?" The young pokemon finally asked.

"Trying to come to terms with what happened and what she did." Leafeon spoke finally stepping aside for the Eevee. Tavi held his tongue as Eevee slipped by, as much as he wanted to demand where his sister was or more importantly what his father had told her, he knew the Leafeon wasn't going to say a word. The two males stared for several minutes before Tavi turned hearing a Hoothoot call in the evening air. "Someone new for you to protect?" He didn't answer his father as he left heading for his den it seemed all that had been gained between the two suddenly evaporated now that Umbreon had returned.

It took Tavi three days before he even saw Umbreon. Eevee had let it slip the day before that she was trying to stay away from him. So he literally hunted her down nearly cornering her a ways from the den before she took off running. He had to chase her farther up the mountain then he had ever been before where everything was stone, tiny paths, and steep drops. She turned to face him when the way ahead was too hard to climb.

The Flareon waited he hadn't said a word since she realized he was following her and began the chase. The two of them panted staring with just a few body lengths between them in a small narrow canyon where the path had led them. After several minutes Umbreon pushed past her brother ans started back down the path. "That's it?" Tavi asked more than a little surprised.

"I don't want to talk about it. I wasn't thinking straight. IT never happened." Tavi watched her retreating tail and moved to catch up thinking. When they got back to the trees and more manageable landscape he moved so that he could walk beside her. Umbreon moved so that a bush would deliberately separate them and the Flareon quickly moved around and was back at her side.

Tavi knew the instant she stopped walking but kept going several paces before he turned to look at her. "We can't do this." She spoke.

"I don't understand what you're talking about Umbreon. Nothing Happened. I am only walking home with my sister." He walked away leaving her the choice of catching up or going on alone. After a few minutes she was back near his side but kept farther away.

Tavi thought about many things he could say but instead kept silent glad that she was at least with him. "I'll see you tomorrow." He told her when they were back near the families den. "Maybe you can come with me and Eevee."

"It's not a good idea." She told him starting for home.

"Why not?" He asked as she passed. When she didn't answer he quickly trotted up behind her and grabbed her tail with his teeth and pulled hard. Umbreon gave a screech and spun swiping a paw which he easily ducked. As she tried to turn he pulled again dragging her rear a little ways before he let go and leaped onto her back. She had nearly a foot of size and height but that didn't help her as her brother used his own weight and knowledge. He caught a fore paw and pulled making her stumble then shifted and kicked at one of her rear legs.

The pair tumbled with Tavi ending up on top. The Flareon bit at her neck and shifted his whole weight driving her neck and head against the ground. They struggled for several minutes barking and growling at each other but the Flareon kept the upper hand. When he had finally wore her down he was able to let go of her neck and just lay on top both tired from the chase and tussle. She still growled through her huffing and panting gathering strength to go again.

"So are you two finished?" Leafeon asked sitting down a bit away, the rustle behind him drew both their attention to Eevee who was still hiding some what in the brush.

"Get off me!" Umbreon growled.

"Not until you tell me why you don't want to see me and what the problem is." he told her.

"I'm not playing Tavi get OFF!" She said struggling again. Suddenly she squealed in real pain as her ear was bit into teeth punching though as her head was pulled back from the long black ear. She shivered going still hearing a much different growl full of menace coming from her brother. Umbreon thought back to the time he saved their father and the worry and fear returned realizing his anger was now directed at her.

He gave another tug before he rolled off and onto his feet growling down at his sister as she started trembling. "What makes you think this is a game!" He barked at her. He watched as she got shakily to her paws tail, head, and ears drooping under his stare. "Maybe you don't realize what you mean to me. Life for me was far worse than your here. Every day was humiliation, pain, and worse...Every DAY!" The Flareon started to lower his voice. "At first I could do nothing but run and hope he didn't catch me again fleeing as far and as fast as I could. But then all I could think about was you, Dad, and the others. MY FAMILY! That was all I could think about everyday, every night. You know when you tackled me outside the den and had your teeth at my throat I was happy. Nothing else mattered because I found you."

Tavi took a deep breath and sat down still staring at his trembling sister. "And now you don't want me either. I won't just give you up. Please Umbreon tell me what's wrong, why don't you want to see me?"

The silence was finally broken but by Leafeon who answered, "She is worried she might be carrying an egg." Tavi stared at his sister before her near breaking voice answered.

"You can't be my mate and being around you would make others believe it was yours." Tavi stepped forward and began licking her ear cleaning the blood off that was now dripping down on to the ground.

"I could be a good uncle, I am not going to let you just push me away." He told her.

"I made a promise. I have to go back if I think I'm going to lay an egg." Tavi took several moments trying to figure out what to say or do as he kept cleaning her ear to buy himself time.

"The two of you are like Drifloon caught in a dust storm. You see the mountain every few spins and think that is where you have to be." Leafeon let out a long sigh. "I guess I'll have to accept that." The siblings watched their father stand up and walk off tail and head hanging slightly.

Tavi stared at his sister as he heard Eevee push his way out of the bushes sencing the wrongness in his fathers words. The Flareon was feeling more and more lost as his sister gave him a light bump on the muzzle. "Later." She spoke before she lept away and trotted after their father. Tavi walked over to Eevee and nudged his muzzle in the same manner before leaving for his den. The next morning didn't seem much easier he tried to insist that Umbreon accompany her brothers on a short patrol but she totally refused. She asked for a week since Leafeon told her that she would be certain by then whether or not she was carrying any eggs. Tavi argued that he would be unable to be with or even talk with her if he waited a week and she had to leave. He had enjoyed being with Eevee and learning more about his younger brother and told his sister he just wanted the same. Umbreon finally made the suggestion that Tavi should eat in the evenings with them and they could talk some then. He could do little but agree with her as he left out on his patrol.

However that week left him with little opportunity to talk or even see his family. Tavi sent the Eevee home only a short ways into their walk coming across a fully set up campsite. It was still early morning and Tavi couldn't understand how someone had gotten so far up the mountain and set up camp unless they had done it under the cover of night. He found his answer just after the screeching cry broke out over his head. Tavi heard the movement in the trees but it was far to fast moving to catch a glimpse of and he didn't have the time to give chase. Following the scents the Flareon quickly found a jeep that had driven much farther into the trees than he thought possible. He spent the entire morning hunting down the human after he had yanked out the tent stakes and knocked over a few of the tent poles causing it to collapse partway. He drug all the equipment and the locked cooler back to the tipped tent before heading off.

Although the scent near the camp and vehicle were strong Tavi was finding it very hard to locate the human. It was actually a small beeping sound accompanied by a single human curse that finally alerted the Flareon to where it was. The human was concealed in a ring of bushes and the scents around were so mixed and combined with an odd floral scent that totally covered the humans.

As Tavi crept closer and was just a foot away when a hand suddenly poked out aiming a canister. With a hiss Tavi was hit with a blast of air that was burning his eyes and nostrils. He scrambled back pawing at his muzzle and eyes as he heard a second hissing sounded and he was able to taste the flowery scent as he breathed through his mouth. The Flareon backtracked to one of the nearby creeks washing his face and muzzle and even jumped in and rolled in the cool water trying to remove all trace of what he had been gassed with.

This was obviously not a normal human, sneaking in and hiding was not something Tavi had come across before. He could probably wait for the human to come out or ambush it when it went back to the campsite but allowing the human to stay unchallenged seemed wrong. Tavi took off to the pond near the bottom of the mountain hoping to recruit some help. He finally found Politoed and after a rather embarrassing conversation that had several veiled mating lines in it the Politoed asked why exactly he was there. Tavi explained what he needed as he lead her to the campsite in return she explained how several frustrated males had begged for release since certain pokemon types only breed when they wished. She had no problem allowing a few males to have fun since she was safe from laying eggs in the spring.

When they reached the campsite she agreed that fire under the canopy in this area was probably a bad idea. After promising not to cause more of a fire than she could comfortably handle he was off again back to the humans hiding spot. After some thought he figured a quick charge was probably the best option as he approached but all that changed as he saw Linoone with two Zigzagoon trotting along behind. He almost screamed out a warning watching them walk closer and closer to the humans hiding place.

Ready with agility the Flareon prepared to counter attack whatever the human had planned. He waited and waited, watching as the trio passed unmolested and on to their destination. Tavi pulled back puzzled. The human hid and defended himself when he tried to get close but left pokemon alone. 'What was it doing here?' Was all the Flareon could now think about. He continued to watch for the next pokemon and what he hoped might be an opportunity.

A Luxio trotted by and turned going around the side of the bushes. Tavi burst out and covered the ground to the bushes in seconds spooking the Luxio and making it bolt in panic. The Flareon leaped over one of the lower bushes and landed in a small area that seemed to have been cleared out to accommodate the male hiding inside. The human had scrambled backwards into a bush trying to make sure the Flareon hadn't landed on him. The next second it cried out moving to grab what it had dropped in its surprise. Tavi was far faster snatching the object on the ground and tearing back through the brush.

"No STOP! Drop It!! God Damn it STOP!!" Tavi could hear the string of screams and curses fade quickly as he raced back to the campsite. When he got there he carefully placed the item on the ground realizing it was a camera. Tavi had several people take his picture before especially when Daniel wanted to show off the perfect little pint sized Flareon. Still puzzled he retreated back into the trees and told Politoed to get ready.

They had to wait several hours till the early afternoon before the human finally showed up cursing and storming though the brush. There was a cry of shock and surprise at the condition of the camp but once he noticed the camera on the ground in front of the pile the human dropped a few canisters and a large notebook and rushed forward checking both the status of the camera and the info stored inside.

Tavi stepped out fully prepared. An intense wave of heat blew past the human as the Flareon aimed a powerful Fire blast at a tree. He stepped out of the way and closer to the human growling as Politoed jumped in behind him and quickly dosed any flames and the tree. Knowing humans and the shock he seemed to get Tavi stood up on his hind legs and walked forward making the biggest impression he could on the human.

"FLARE!/LEAVE!" He barked holding a arm and paw pointing to the jeep not far off. Tavi waited as the human turned back from where he was pointing. There was no surprise for the Flareon at all as the male raised his camera and Tavi could hear a light whirring noise. He waited a few more seconds before dropping down and growling with a slow advance. The man moved backwards and almost fell but instead ended up sitting on the edge of the cooler with one arm cradling the camera and the other thrust into the pile of stuff behind him holding off his fall. "Flare!" Tavi barked again.

"Please... please wait I'll go. They said there was a guardian but we didn't think they were serious. I'm sorry we won't come back just let me go." Tavi stopped growling as soon as the human started babbling. He barked once more to get it to shut up and huffed a few times for good measure before he turned to leave. Tavi thanked Politoed and she tried to encourage him to visit her privately sometime. After that he spent the entire afternoon and some of the evening carefully watching the human. Twice when the male stopped for a break he showed himself causing it to hurry back to the campsite or grab a load of stuff and dash for the jeep. Tavi decided the human must have come late the previous evening maybe even before since it took nearly ten trips for the human to load the jeep after it had finally packed everything up.

With the jeep started and slowly rolling backwards through the trees Tavi took off downwards trying to cover as much ground as he could while it was still light. He checked the more likely campsites lower on the mountain and decided that no other humans were present. It was dark by the time he got to his den so he had a quick meal and went to sleep.

The camera human seemed to be a trigger, the sunny days and full bloom growth of late spring had dozens of humans about which Tavi chased off. Some like the first couple were simply out hiking through the woods, a simple growl or at worst a short charge made them leave. The few trainers either found their campsites torn apart or a menacing Flareon willing to use Flame thrower on personal items had them reconsider trying to battle. The few who tried found a rather viscous pokemon who didn't fight fair or care about rules. He would run away only to come back moments later charging in with Take down. He would charge humans as well as pokemon but always allowed them to retreat unchallenged when they had enough.

By the time the week was over Tavi felt drained and it seemed nearly every minute was devoted to keeping the mountain human free. The only thing he seemed to gain was the respect of several pokemon some who witnessed his battles or his few injuries when he limped back up the hillsides. Many seemed now to make a point of greeting him as he headed out on patrol wishing him good luck or a safe day.

The last day of the week Umbreon was waiting at his den that evening. She had several Oran berries and some roots that Tavi recognized as helping strengthen the body and also one that helped sleep. He looked over her little bundle figuring the worst. "Your leaving." He stated.

"No. I am just helping my brother who needs it. I don't plan on going any time soon." Tavi sat down and ate everything as she watched before going over to curl up in his nest.

"Can you spend the night?" He asked.

Umbreon seemed a little surprised but answered, "I guess so."

"Can you tell me about Mom?" He could see the Umbreon shadow stop moving. There was a silence that filled the darkening den that not even breaths seemed to disturb. "Please." Tavi finally begged, "Dad would never tell me and Eevee doesn't really remember."

With a sigh Umbreon moved across the den and pushed her brother over to make room as she curled around him. "Mom well she was fast and had the best ears in the forest."

Tavi drifted off to sleep listening to his sisters words as his mind built up an image of an Espeon who loved her family. The images were drawn into his dreams and helped remind him of the few simple memories that were locked in his mind from when he was a cub. Umbreon laid her head on his shoulder some time later dozing off as she listened to her brother sleep realizing that the part of her that was happy she hadn't ended up with an egg wasn't just so that she could be with her family but her brother as well.

This was the best spot to stop and not leave it as a cliff hanger. Tavi's heart is still jumbled and he has many things which he needs to work out, but given time will surely do so.

So I kinda had a few questions.... If you read the whole thing please feel free to give me answers, if you only read part then only answer the first.

Is there to much sexual interaction or not enough for the story? Helpful answers would be --- More / Less / Decent.

Now the real question. Was Leafeon's interaction with Tavi believeable or just seemed off slightly. I tried hard and could only see the pent up frustration and a near punishment for doing someting wrong controling Leafeon's actions but still some parts felt like to much while others felt nailed.

Last question. I know where this story is going and have no real plans on changing it but just a question the whole next part seemes to leave Eevee out of most of it no matter how its written. Should I just go ahead and drop him or would it be better to try and fit some kind of ending in for the younger brother as well instead of just kinda wondering off... NOT That he does...or doesn't or something, he's just not really there.
