Foreign Skies - Act 2
#11 of Yogoloth's Chronicles
After nearly dying and rendering the gryphoness helpless, what will Yogoloth do now?
Part 1
It started getting light as the clouds began to thin, the last of the stars vanishing in the blue and grey of the dawn sky. It had been a close call, but Yogoloth had managed to tap into that strangest of abilities and start the process of changing back into his feral form. It had been more painful than normal, just as he thought he'd begun to gain some control over it. He could normally keep his jaw clenched shut to stop from crying out in pain as his bones and muscles stretched, bent and twisted into shape. But not this time.
Now, he lay twisted on his back, panting into the dewy air, staring up into the patchy, morning sky. Yogoloth took and deep breath as the pain receded, swallowed and looked over towards the paralysed gryphoness. She was watching him, her thoughts and feelings a mystery, unable to move anything but her eyes. He took another breath, slower and calmer this time, as he began to stretch out his tender limbs. Was it because he'd cut it so fine this time? Because he'd changed twice in one night? Actually, he'd rather not think about it anymore.
The young hybrid carefully got onto his feet and finally stretched his wings, they were like the rest of his body, muddy and unusually sore. The previous evening's rain had turned the packed dirt track into a series of puddles in a narrow muddy path. But he had no time to clean nor preen, the paralysis that he had managed to shape into the gryphoness wouldn't last forever, and he had to make a bit of a show, if this was going to have the best chance of working.
He turned towards her, growled and then roared into the sky. He didn't care if people heard, they were unlikely to reach this place before he was gone. He stalked towards the gryphoness and shoved her over onto her side with his horns, then again over onto her back. He straddled her, his belly scutes pressed against her furry body and looked down at her birdlike face. She was smaller than he was, but not by much. He growled lightly, showing off his fine collection of teeth.
"You were going to kill me.", he said with as much malice as he could muster. He opened his toothy maw, moved his head down and wrapped his teeth around her feathery neck. He squeezed her throat, making sure she could feel every sharp tooth as they pressed against her helpless flesh. He could feel her heart pounding in her chest, its desperate thumping her only way of expressing her panic. Then he opened his mouth and pulled back. He hadn't even drawn a single drop of blood.
"There, now we're even.", he said calmly licking his snout a couple of times. He settled his body onto hers and got more comfortable before continuing, "You thought I was a blood mage, I suppose I can forgive you for that."
He suddenly felt a little awkward, this one sided conversation wasn't exactly the sort of thing he was used to. He looked down at her as the sky slowly brightened overhead and, now the danger was over, got his first real look at the gryphoness. Her body fur was a middle brown but lightened noticeably around her belly, but her wings were unusually pale, the lightest of browns and some almost white feathers were mixed in. Yogoloth moved his fore legs forward and around her golden yellow talons, locked them in place against his flanks and looked into her eyes again. They were mostly green seemingly with flecks of the same rich yellow as her talons and beak. The feathers of her face and neck were the same pale brown of her wings.
"I'm going to remove the paralysis now, and if you insist, we can try to kill each other. But as you now know, I'm not a blood mage and I don't want to fight you.", he said very carefully, trying to sound calm and confident. If she tried anything however, he would have to kill her.
She couldn't reply or even acknowledge him, but her eyes hadn't left him since he'd paralysed her to begin with. At the moment, he was the most real thing in her world, and he couldn't imagine she'd missed even a single word. Yogoloth took a deep breath and reached his magical senses into her body. The magical shape that kept the gryphoness paralysed was on the brink of unravelling by itself, but he had to make a point of releasing her willfully. He tugged at it and the shape unravelled, the magic dissipated. Having already left his body, the magic would not return as the magic from the disguise had done before. Now they were both magicless.
Her body tensed up and her fore legs lightly gripped his flanks, he felt her sharp talons against his hide, but it wasn't an aggressive act. Her wings stretched out against the ground and her body relaxed again. She wriggled slightly but didn't struggle, she was probably quite uncomfortable after so long paralysed and now having a dragon laying on top of her. The gryphoness looked up at the creature that had her pinned and opened her beak to speak, but then closed it again. After a moment's more thought she finally spoke.
"So... what are you?", she said sounding in equal parts relieved, curious and confused.
Part 2
Yogoloth wanted to lie, he wanted to make something up, anything but the truth. He'd found a gryphon who hadn't recognised him as a hybrid, and now he had the chance to avoid all the disgust and aggression that seemed to follow. This had only happened with one gryphon, once before, and... He suddenly felt very uncomfortable indeed.
"It doesn't matter.", he said trying to sound casual. He didn't want it to be a big deal, but the question of what he was, was unlikely to be so easily dismissed.
He decided that the gryphoness wasn't about to attack him, and he could hardly keep her pinned indefinitely. He carefully put his weight back onto his feet and backed up, being careful not to step on her wings. She watched him quietly as he released her and began to stretch her legs properly. She slowly pulled a wing in, rolled onto her side and got her feet on to the ground, then stood and stretched her wings. She looked about as muddy as he was, then she opened her beak to speak, but Yogoloth got there first.
"So, I didn't hurt you, did I?", he asked quickly, the sooner they left the topic of what he was, all the better.
"Oh, I don't think so.", she looked around at herself and suddenly realised how filthy she'd gotten in the mud. Her feathers were caked in drying mud and her fur was wet and matted. But apart from some dirt and aching limbs, the gryphoness was uninjured. It could have been much worse if this creature had decided not just to harmlessly disable her. She looked up at him.
"That paralysis was powerful. I thought only dragons and gryphons could do real-", she stopped and her eyes widened before exclaiming, "You're- you're a hybrid!"
Yogoloth's heart sank, he knew it would only be a matter of time before she figured it out. But he'd hoped that it would have been longer, chance for her to get to know him. Maybe then she'd judge him for who he was and not what he was. He would have loved to find out more about civilised gryphons too. She obviously picked up on his change of mood.
"Oh, I'm sorry, do you prefer to be called a... mixed breed?", she said apologetically. For a moment, he could almost believe she meant it.
"I prefer to be called Yogoloth, because that's the name my mother gave me.", he said angrily, feeling his temper rise a little. The gryphoness snapped her beak shut, her feathers ruffled a little and the tip of her tail flicked this way and that.
There was an awkward silence between them which lasted far too long. Yogoloth felt the urge to preen his feathers, but they were so muddy. What he really needed was a pool of water, but he didn't know the area well enough. Rolling around in a patch of wet grass should suffice to get most of it out for now. He looked up at her and sighed, she'd been watching him study his muddy wings.
"I shouldn't have snapped at you. Normally at this point, I'm either flying for my life or the other gryphon has flown away in disgust.", he said by way of an apology. She nodded but still looked a little offended.
"I know of a small rocky pool near here... through the woods.", she said slowly, before adding a little more cheerfully, "After last night's rain, it should be full and pretty fresh now."
"Oh. Just straight ahead, through the woods?", the dragon hybrid asked, making a move in that direction. The gryphoness smiled at him, clearly finding something highly amusing. Yogoloth growled under his breath, he didn't like being a source of humour without knowing why.
"No, I meant, I can show you. You'd probably not find it on your own.", she said kindly before shaking her body free of some aches and loose mud. Yogoloth felt a smile creep onto his snout.
"Oh, I'd like that.", he said in a brighter mood. If he walked slowly he could delay her from leaving for as long as possible!
Part 3
The walk through the woods was a little awkward. Before actually meeting a gryphon, Yogoloth would often be buzzing with things he would ask and subjects to talk about, if he ever had the chance. Now his mind was blank and he had no idea what to say, no topics sprung up that seemed right. But this meeting didn't exactly begin as he'd imagined it would either.
True to her word, the gryphoness had led him to the rocky pool and the dragon was annoyed at himself for not making more of the trip. The pool was at the base of a short rocky cliff, the run off rain water from the cliff had gathered into a recessed pit in the rock. It had probably been an entirely natural pool long ago, but there was a lot of evidence of talon marks and it had obviously been enlarged over the decades, maybe even centuries. The gryphoness walked up to the pool and sniffed at the surface of the water.
"It's not quite the same as the pool at the stables, but it'll do for today.", she said smiling, before descending into the water. She turned back and looked at Yogoloth and smiled, "I don't bite."
The pool was large enough for a few gryphons at a time and the water was still pretty clear, even as the muddy female started ruffling her feathers up and dunking her head under the surface. He wasted no more time and entered the pool. The near side had a fairly smooth gradient but the far side had a shear edge. There were deep areas and shallow areas that seemed quite organised, it seemed like the pool had been shaped very specifically over the years.
"Natanii.", the gryphon said suddenly.
"What?"
"That's my name, Natanii.", she repeated.
"Oh.", Yogoloth rolled the name around in his head. He only knew one other gryphon name and that was his own. Was this a beautiful name or not? Did it have any meaning behind it? He suddenly felt nervous, does his own name have some sort of meaning behind it that he wasn't aware of. He focused on getting the mud out of his feathers, better to focus on something soothing than fearing the unknown. A while later, the gryphoness hissed under her breath in annoyance and looked at her bathing partner.
"This is ridiculous. I have no idea what might offend you and you've no idea what to talk to me about. I don't care that you're a hybrid, can we just talk and forget what's happened so far?", Natanii said quickly but not unkindly. Yogoloth looked over to her and simply couldn't think of the best thing to say, so he just took a deep breath and said the first thing that came to his mind.
"I'm afraid I'm going to miss out on this chance to actually talk to an equal, because I'm too afraid of the past repeating itself.", he blurted out. His body sagged a little and he turned away from her, suddenly feeling slightly vulnerable.
"I'm not going anywhere and I'm not about to judge you for what you are.", she said, having pretty much finished cleaning out her fur and feathers. Yogoloth looked up and gave a half-hearted smile, before returning to his muddy feathers.
Natanii climbed out of the pool and found a spot a little distance away and violently shook her body and wings. Water sprayed in all directions before the gryphoness sat down on her rump and opened her wings wide. For the briefest moment Yogoloth feared she was going to fly away, but the morning sun had risen in the sky, and she was just using its warming rays to dry her feathers. She looked upwards, closed her eyes and let out a contented sigh.
Yogoloth quickly finished cleaning the dirt out of his feathers, climbed out of the other side of the pool and shook himself the same way. He wandered over to the gryphoness and Natanii's ears perked up at the noise. She opened her eyes and looked his way as he sat down next to her.
"Here, let me help.", the hybrid said as he reached out his magical senses and carefully formed a shape in the gryphoness's wings. Slowly her feathers warmed, the water became vapour and evaporated. She gave him a broad smile as Yogoloth gave his own wings the same treatment. He'd only just regained enough magic to do this and it left him magically dry again. But it was worth it to see her smile.
"Thank you. You've regained that much magic already?", she said, shaking her wings a little and sounding more than a little impressed. She then looked a little worried for a moment and frowned at the rocky ground, "I always thought hybrids would be crippled, weak or... malformed. That's what I've always been told."
"That sounds like my four siblings...", he said quietly, before quickly changing the subject with a hint of pride, "You should see me in the air then!"
"Really? Challenge accepted!", she said excitedly. Yogoloth looked a little confused.
"What?"
Part 4
"Just a simple game of Tail Chase.", Natanii said brightly. Yogoloth frowned at the gryphoness, he had no idea what she meant.
"Tail... Chase?"
"Oh, sorry. Well, we just fly around and see who can bat the other's tail the most with the backs of our talons.", she replied and then suddenly looked down at Yogoloth's fore legs. "Or the backs of your claws, that'd work fine too."
The dragon hybrid relaxed and smiled, this was something like a game he used to play with his mother. Although that tended to be biting tails or batting your opponent with your horns. It actually got quite dangerous sometimes, but she never let him loose too much blood before calling it off. A flying game, it had been a while, but this was really something he could enjoy.
"Ok... how do we start-", Yogoloth began, but the gryphoness just turned, ran a couple of paces and leapt into the air.
The pink pads of her hind paws kicked up a few loose stones and her pale wings were almost dazzling in the morning sun as she started to gain height. Yogoloth growled slightly in anticipation, it had been years since he had last flown with a partner and he was about to make the most of it. The hybrid crouched down, then leapt up and pumped his wings, managing to get airborne in one movement. Perhaps it was a little showy, but the gryphoness looked back at him and smiled as she veered off to the side. Let the game begin.
She had the height advantage straight away, but he'd learned long ago from his mother, that he was a natural in the air. Even the most skilled dragon would find it difficult to out manoeuvre a gryphon in the air. But now he was more or less an adult, Yogoloth found he could even fly rings around gryphons. She dived towards him, shaking her tail left and right, making it difficult to tell exactly which path she was planning on taking. So the hybrid climbed carefully, leaving himself plenty of power for sudden changes in direction, then she was on him.
He swung round and twisted his tail as he dived, trying to evade, but the gryphoness was more experienced at this game and you could only move your tail about so much, without losing control of your orientation. Yogoloth felt a sharp pain in his tail as Natanii struck out with a fore leg, and then she veered off in another direction, out of retaliation range.
The hybrid had turned quickly to strike back but the gryphoness had already moved out of harms way and Yogoloth merely got to see her furry rump as she moved her tail back and forth. He shook his head to rid himself of a mental image and focused on the task at hand. While she maintained the height advantage he'd struggle to break even on score. He wanted to win, partly because he prided his skills in the air, but partly to impress her. He wasn't exactly sure why he felt the need.
She was experienced at the game, but Yogoloth had more power, stamina and was slightly more agile too. As soon as he managed to duplicate Natanii's confusing tail swishing technique, the scales tipped in his favour. Soon it became less a game of Tail Chase and more a case of just flying for the sake of flying. The gryphoness clearly loved being in the air as much as he did and suddenly, he didn't really care what the score was. All that mattered was the shear joy of feeling the air beneath his wings, the wind in his face and, most of all, sharing the experience with someone who appreciates these things with the same pleasure as he did.
They had flown quite some distance from the rocky pool, further away from Stone Haven, far from the curious eyes of the towns folk and other civilised gryphons. The coastline had changed from rocky cliffs to sandy beaches and farmland had given way to woodland as Natanii began to descend. Yogoloth followed her down, watching as their shadows danced on the sand and in the waves, inwardly a little disappointed that their flight had come to an end. He landed moments after she did to find her gently panting from their exertion, he was tired, but would have happily flown with her until he couldn't even land safely anymore.
"I'm sorry Yogoloth... you're not at all what I expected.", she said, swallowing as her breathing slowed. He wasn't exactly sure what she meant as he sat down next to her, both of them looking out over the sea. They didn't speak for some time and then Yogoloth felt something on his wing, he looked over and realised Natanii had started preening his feathers.
She only preened a few, then stopped and looked up at him silently. Was he supposed to preen her back? Or thank her? Did she stop because his feathers were no good?
"Oh Yogoloth! You really know nothing about other gryphons, do you?", she laughed. Yogoloth's brows furrowed, again he was the source of unintentional humour. She continued bluntly, "When a gryphon preens a another gryphon's feathers, they're either related or... or the first gryphon wants to have sex."
"Oh... but... I'm not a gryphon... why would you want me?", Yogoloth replied shocked, forcing himself to look her in the eyes. Natanii looked at him with the most puzzled expression.
"Just because one of your parents wasn't a gryphon, doesn't mean that you're not.", she said kindly. "You're strong, have powerful magic, you make me smile, can fly better than any gryphon I know. You have beautiful wings and eyes... why wouldn't I want to feel your weight on my back?"
She shifted even closer to him and nibbled at his neck with her beak, taking in the scent of his mane. Yogoloth couldn't help but let his snout drift into her mane in return, to fill his nostrils with her scent. His body began to react to the wild thoughts that were passing through his mind. She was, after all, a very attractive gryphon.
Part 5
Yogoloth had begun nibbling at Natanii's neck and the gryphoness had started sighing in blissful contentment. Her beak had been buried in Yogoloth's mane and he could feel her warm breath coming out in steadily increasing waves. She slowly pulled away and walked passed him, and he watched her as she strolled idly across the beach, the sand below her talons and paws combined with the gentle waves of the ocean, the only sounds. Her lion-like tail flicked around and playfully swatted the hybrid in the face.
He was slightly confused by this turn of events, one moment he was in his vulnerable two-legged form and truly believed he was going to die. Then he was flying through the sky, enjoying life like he hadn't in many years. Now the very gryphoness that threatened his life only hours ago, wanted him to mate with her. He had suddenly seen her in a different light and she shone beautifully. Her body was well muscled, but still moved with grace over the land and through the air. However, Yogoloth's confusion only went so far, he was not going to pass up this opportunity and his body had already reacted to his arousal.
She had planted her feet into the sand a little way off, slightly closer to the sea and with her back to him. Natanii looked over her shoulder, her beak parted slightly, eyes wide and alert, and moved her furry tail slightly to the side.
"Don't just stand there...", she said quietly before closing her eyes. Yogoloth moved forward, placed his fore paws on her furry rump and moved his snout toward her sex. She shivered as his breath tickled her naked flesh.
"What are you doing...?", she started to ask, sounding slightly dazed, then Yogoloth suddenly realised something. Natanii was a gryphon, and had probably never been with any male other than fellow gryphons, and gryphons don't have very long tongues at all. In fact, their beaks would not be very easy to use in the way he was about to use his, far softer snout, and far longer more flexible tongue.
"Relax, I don't bite.", he whispered before his tongue slipped free from his snout and pressed against her vulva. The gryphoness trembled slightly at the foreign sensation and hissed lightly in pleasure. Yogoloth sank his claws slightly into her rump, shuffled forward slightly and pushed his snout against her. Natanii hissed again, slightly louder and for longer this time, her tail flicked involuntarily and came to rest between the hybrid's horns and down the right side of his neck.
"Oh... keep doing that...", she breathed as her head became heavier and slowly lowered towards the sand, her eyes remaining tightly closed.
The hybrid started slow, licking in long, precise strokes, pushing his lips against her and drawing his tongue back into his mouth, only to pull back and repeat from a different angle. He could feel her body begin to tremble softly, her breathing became louder and came out in more rapid breaths. Then she cried out with a high pitched sound that was half hiss and half screech. Yogoloth felt her hind legs begin to shake from the weight of his fore legs, so he slowly shifted his hind legs forward to allow him to rest on his rump instead of hers. But his purple tongue never left her pink flesh, instead, he slowly pushed it between the folds of her labia and into her moist sex.
"Never... stop...", she panted as her fore legs slowly folded and her chest and head came to rest on the sand. Yogoloth grinned as he drew his tongue out and licked over her flesh one more time. He pulled back, and before the gryphoness had time to complain, he pushed her over onto her side and then rolled her over onto her back. His fore legs firmly held her hind legs and Natanii's feathers fluffed up in protest.
"What are you doiiiing...", the last syllable of her sentence was drawn out as that purple tongue found its way back onto her sex once again. Her head tilted back down onto the beach has the hybrid went to work again. She felt trapped, hopelessly, wonderfully trapped by this magnificent male. Her breathing became erratic as another orgasm built within her and then exploded. She could do nothing but clench her talons tight and cry out to the sky as wonderful things happened to her that she had no control over.
Then that beautiful tongue stopped. Natanii slowly opened her eyes, lifted her head from the sand and looked at him. Yogoloth was lazily licking his green snout while his purple eyes regarded her with hunger. He suddenly didn't look like a gryphon at all, he was every bit the dragon and yet, every bit the gryphon too. Perhaps the best of both, she thought hazily.
Yogoloth slowly stepped forward with a fore leg, planting it in the sand to the side of her flank. His tongue ran lazily against the gryphoness's belly, and her body shivered at the stimulation. Then his other fore leg moved forward, and his tongue likewise moved further up her body. His eyes never once left hers, it were as though he was stalking her, slowly moving forward, edging towards his prey. Her heart raced with anticipation, part of her wanted him inside her now, the other never wanted this attention to end.
The hybrid moved forward one step at a time, soon his long neck allowed him to start nibbling gently at the feathers on her neck and then her fluffy pale brown ears. She found her fore legs wrapping themselves around his chest, pulling his belly scutes against her fur. Natanii pushed her nostrils into his furry mane and reminded herself of his scent. It was unique, clearly male, clearly gryphon, but also something else. Exotic. She wanted to scream at him to mate her now! To take her roughly, any way he chose, how ever hard he liked. But she ground her beak instead, and let him go at his own pace.
He pressed his body against hers, Yogoloth's tough scutes rubbing against the gryphoness's belly as she felt the tip of his cock against her flesh. The sensation was intoxicating, she felt light headed, she felt her body push against his, without her permission, although she would have given it none-the-less. Then he moved forwards and she felt him push his way inside of her, her talons sank lightly into his flanks as she gasped as the feeling. She pushed the side of her head against his chest as he pulled back and thrust into her again.
She had been mated on her back before, but she'd never wanted a male as badly as this. The fact that he was half dragon didn't matter, if anything, it only made the whole experience even more arousing. Another orgasm rose up, then crashed through her body and her world suddenly just consisted purely of him. There was no beach, no ocean, no woodland, no world. Just her beautiful hybrid mate, his warm scutes on her belly, his weight pushing against her, his thick member moving within her.
Natanii felt that familiar warmth in her loins begin to build again, she didn't know how much more she could take. Each wave crashed against her with seemingly even more intensity than the last. But then she felt him pulse within her, spilling his seed, and it threw her over the edge again. He roared into the sky, and she welcomed him inside of her. For the first time, she felt him weaken, his body sagged slightly against her and she took his weight gratefully.
The gryphoness wrapped her talons more tightly around his chest and pulled him against her. She held him close and yet knew the feeling couldn't last forever. But for now, she was happy to embrace him for as long as he would let her.
Part 6
The sky was nearly clear of clouds after the previous night's downpour, the sun had risen high in the spring sky, and as Yogoloth woke, he stared up and thought that this summer was going to be a good summer. Due to the fact that he hadn't had any sleep last night, had nearly been killed, was forced to transform twice in one night, and then had a long flight that ended with an amazing but tiring mating, he had fallen asleep almost right away. Now he lay on his back, his mane damp and filled with sand from the beach, and felt Natanii moving idly against his belly.
He looked down at her, she was laying on her side with her talons gently gripping his leathery belly scutes, her eyes lazily looked back at him and she smiled and pulled closer to him. He had expected her to be gone when he woke, but she had stayed with him through his short midday sleep. Yogoloth yawned, licked his snout a couple of times and smiled, he was incredibly happy right now.
"Well, that was... different.", Natanii said. The hybrid's ears dropped down a fraction.
"Different?", he said cautiously. She'd stayed with him while he slept, so it couldn't have been that bad. The gryphoness laughed.
"Oh Yogoloth, different in a good way.", she said while slowly tracing the lines of his scutes with a single talon. The hybrid could barely feel it, but he liked the attention none-the-less.
"Sorry, I'm still in a bit of shock, I guess. So many years after I first set out to find hybrid-tolerant gryphons and I find you by accident.", he said shifting his position, he was getting quite uncomfortable but didn't want the gryphoness to move. The feeling of her body against his was comforting.
"So many years...", Natanii scoffed at the words. "Judging by your wings, you're no more than twenty, maybe twenty-five at most!"
"Sixty-three.", he said smiling, waiting for her reaction. Her furry ears perked up and her beak gaped a little.
"Oh! You look so, well, young!"
"I am young, for a dragon.", Yogoloth pointed out calmly, his humour at her shock showing through. Natanii rolled from her side onto her belly and crawled a little further forward, her wings shaking off some loose sand before folding against her flanks. Her furry chest rubbed against Yogoloth's scutes, her hind legs still resting on the beach, then her piercing eyes met his. The hybrid suddenly remembered only hours ago, her face, a picture of bliss, her eyes closed as they mated. The memory threatened to provoke his body into action but he pushed it away.
"Dragon or not, you fly more beautifully than any gryphon I know. Thank you for sharing the skies with me.", Natanii smiled and rested her head on his chest. But her smile was half-hearted, something was on her mind, something was troubling her. But before Yogoloth could ask the gryphoness what it was, she spoke up.
"Does it always hurt that much?", she said in a suddenly somber tone. For the briefest of moments, the young hybrid thought that he'd hurt her during their mating, but suddenly realised she meant his transformation.
"It always hurts, not normally quite that much."
"I'm sorry I forced you to change. If I'd have known...", Natanii's voice trailed off.
"I had to change back that night anyway.", Yogoloth lied. He had been planning on visiting the estate as a civilised lizard. But he'd now come up with a better plan, that didn't require him to change back anytime soon. Hopefully, this way would work better and be more likely to get him some answers. Why did everything have to be so difficult? The hybrid reached his long neck round and nipped playfully at one of the gryphoness's ears. She yelped in surprise.
"Hey! Stop that!", she protested, laughing. She swung one of her hind legs over Yogoloth and pinned him down with her fore legs and body. He could feel her warmth against his belly and her tail kept flicking against his. The whole thing was quite arousing. But she suddenly looked a little sad.
"I... I can't stay, Yogoloth.", she said looking up at the sky, probably trying to judge the time of day, "I have to get to Stapleton for tomorrow morning and file some mandates. Then there's deliveries to log and ground couriers to charter for exports... If I'm not there, they'll mess it all up. I'm pushing my luck making it there for the inbound shipments as it is."
"I have no idea what any of that means. Civilised stuff?"
"Civilised stuff.", Natanii confirmed as she climbed off the hybrid and smiled. He rolled over, got to his feet and groaned at how awkwardly he'd been laying down as he shook his wings. They both stood on the beach in silence for a moment, Natanii had obviously used Yogoloth's sleep to clean the sand from her feathers and fur. She looked magnificent. His heart began to sink, he suddenly knew that he'd never see her again. She moved forward and wrapped her fore legs around his neck, his own fore legs did the same and they held each other for a while.
"Here, take my signature, if we're ever in the area again, I... I'd love to meet you again...", Natanii looked a little embarrassed as she pulled away back onto all fours, Yogoloth wasn't sure why.
He stretched his magical senses out and found the shape she was showing him. After only a moment of indecision, he formed his own unique signature and showed it to her. She smiled broadly as she committed his shape to memory. Like he had done with Marrus, they could now perform various magics that only affected each other. Mostly harmless magics, like sending messages or seeking each other out. Mostly harmless. Natanii wasted no time and backed a little way from him, spread her wings and gave them a few experimental beats.
"I mean it, Yogoloth! Don't make me come find you!", she laughed loudly over the sound her wings made against the air. Then she took a couple of quick steps and leapt into the air.
Yogoloth watched as she became smaller and smaller, flying back towards Stone Haven, until she finally vanished into the distance. He looked at his wings and started preening them, they'd gotten into quite a state since he'd last given them attention back at the pool. He'd have to head back there to retrieve his leather pack aswell, he was pretty sure he knew his way back. He stopped suddenly and blinked, had he just made a friend? An attractive gryphoness friend? His mind boggled for a moment and then he smiled. Yes, he really had.
