Thinking Sinking Thoughts
#5 of Verse and Other Nonsense!
A short silly poem to get the old pen flowing.
I find that I don't often express why I'm such a big fan of the escapism that this particular pastime represents.
This is my feeble attempt.
Thinking Sinking Thoughts
When in a certain mood
And feeling very lewd
There is a thing
That thinking brings
That's often misconstrued
An escape from everyday worry
When the thinker's in no real hurry
Drifting through thought
Decidedly hot
And also remarkably furry
That's why fantasy appeals
Away from all the reals
That say you shan't
Or even can't
Because of social seals
Why not flirt with dapper dragons
Or horses driving wagons
Or mice and minks
Or moose and skinks
Or Tigers bearing flagons
"Because they don't exist"
Is that all that's on your list?
Love and hate
You reprobate
Are likewise both dismissed
"But it's all just in your mind!"
Would you rather I in kind
Become like a god
Or General Zod
With reality cruelly defined?
I really just don't see the trouble
In retreating to one's little bubble
To think what they may
In their own unique way
While leading a life that is double
So while I sit drifting in thought
I want you to pity me not
I'm thinking in glee
Of the things that I'll be
And the fiction with which I'm besot
