Rin opened the front door deciding to go for a walk. She stopped short as she saw him.

Kenzi froze when he heard the door. Not looking at her he started to walk away.

"Kenzi..."Rin said softly still standing at the door.

Kenzi kind of jolt. "Are you really...telling the truth?"

Rin hugged herself slightly "I don't feel like a walk any more" she muttered and went back inside.

He drives off down the road and hit into a light pole.

Kenzi sat there unconscious till someone called 911 for a ambulance

Rin sat silently in her room her knees pulled up to her chest.

The phone in the living room started to ring.

Rin hesitated not wanting to move. With a sigh she got up and answered it "Hello?"

"Yes this is Sean at the hospital there was an accident umm Kenzi is in the hospital from a car crash."

"What?" she gasped

"Yes he is in room 130 on floor two. A person jogging saw him leave your house, so we thought you and Kenzi was family or friends."

"I'll be right over" she said and hung up the phone.

The person on the other line hung the phone up and got filling paper work for another patiant.

Rin hurried out the door and over to her car. She found her hands shaking as she pulled out of the driveway.

She arrived at the hospital.

Rin found his room as she reached the hospital and opened the door carefully.

Kenzi was lying on a bed strapped to some machines, breathing very little air and asleep.

Rin stepped into the room carefully.

Kenzi breathed in slowly and started coughing when he exhaled

Rin bit her lower lip as she stepped to the edge of the bed.

Kenzi was cut in several places on his face and chest.

Rin reached out a hand carefully but then drew back.

Kenzi had to get stitches next to his eye. And had his head wrapped by a cloth.

"What happened?" Rin asked out loud to no one.

A nurse walked in. "He was driving down the street and ran into a light pole. When we got there his eyes was open and he looked like we had something in his eye or he was about to cry."

Rin looked over at Kenzi and touched his arm gently. "Kenzi..."

Kenzi just laid there in the bed, not moving and his breathing dropped a little more.

"Oh no. Ma'am you have to go." the nurse motioned a doctor in to put a breathing tube in.

"Why?" she asked softly.

"We need to put a breathing tube in him his breathing is so low he can't take enough air in his lungs."

"But why do I have to leave?" she insisted

"We don't need someone in here in the way. Please miss we have to get it in him now or he could die from lack of oxygen."

Rin looked at Kenzi for a moment, she wanted to stay but the nurse was sure to argue. Wuth a nod of her head she left the room.

the nurse and a doctor started bringing equipment in.

Rin sat out in the waiting room wondering when she could go back in.

a few minutes passed and a nurse came in the room. "his breathing has came up, he can have visitors now, but if he looks like his breathing is slowed or stopped please get a nurse in there immediately."

"All right" Rin said and hurried back into the room.

Kenzi was still lying in the bed but had a tube in his mouth going down his throat.

Rin hovered by the side of his bed unsure of what to do. She blinked back a few tears.

Kenzi's eyes opened a little and he looked at her, tears coming back to his eyes. And he went back to sleep.

Rin blinked again but this time the tears overflowed and ran down her cheeks.

Kenzi woke up but this time he stayed up. Unable to speak he grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. " I'm sorry for making you come here. I hope it was not too horrible for you."

"I-it's fine" Rin said her voice catching in her throat

"I would like to speak to you but I don't think I can get this tube out, none the less move at all. My body hurts so bad right now."

"It's all right...I'm here..."She touched his arm. "You don't have to speak" tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Please don't cry. I am fine, just hurt a little. I would still like to talk to you and tell you things myself."

"All right" Rin said perching on the edge of his bed as she tried to stop crying.

"Please tell the nurse she can get this tube out now I am up."

"Are you sure?" she asked worridly.

"Yes I have to tell you something."

"All right..."Rin rose and went to get the nurse.

The nurse came in a saw I was up and started to take the tape around the tube off, and pulled the tube out. Kenzi coughed when the rube was getting taken out.

Rin reached out and touched his arm again.

"Not that I can talk to you, I would like to tell you something about me."

"What is it?" she asked

"As you know I am a Dragon, well if a Dragon sheds even one tear it would kill them on the spot. Well I wanted to tell you I was about to cry when I hit that poll." he said very weakly.

"And that no matter how much you say 'No' I still will love you till I die."

"I don't want you to die because....I love you too. " She blushed

"I-I feel like I can die in peace now."

"D-die?" she swallowed hard.

"Yes I don't want to but I think I can leave this world without any regrets."

"Please don't die Kenzi..."

"I think I will not but I-I can't stop bleeding. My chest feels like it is bleeding but the wounds are closed."

"Please try" she said softly and kissed his cheek

"I am trying, but I feel-I-." his eyes close slowly and his breathing stops.

Rin's heart seemed to stop. "Nurse!" she called out.

The nurse ran in the room and looked at Kenzi. "Oh god he is having internal bleeding."

Rin whimpered softly.

The nurse ran out and came back with four doctors. "he has stopped breathing and his pulse is dropping."

The doctor didn't care Rin was in the room they needed to save him from dying.

Rin shifted from foot to foot her ears and tail twitching anxiously.

They cut his chest open and started stitching up cuts and gashes in his body, sucking up all the blood that the wounds bleed out from his chest.

Rin looked away bile rising in her throat.

They stopped the bleeding and closed his chest. The nurse was sowing his chest up when the doctor left.

Rin was hugging herself in the corner her eyes closed.

The nurse saw she was in the room when that happened and told her to go to the cafeteria and get her something to eat.

"I'm not hungry" she said softly.

"I don't want you to get hungry if you ever want to get anything to eat you can eat free there.

The nurse left the room.

"Thank you" she said as the nurse left.

Kenzi had a fresh cut in his chest and the smell of his blood loomed in the air.

Rin took a shaky breath and approached the bed.

His breathing has stabled and his heart beat was normal, yet his face still looked like he has passed on.

Rin closed her eyes as she started to cry when she saw him.

The wound on his chest was bleeding a little and it was covered by some gauze pads.

Rin leaned over and kissed him gently on the cheek. "I'm sorry Kenzi"

His face warmed up as she kissed him.

Rin pulled back and started out of the room.

Kenzi laid there unable to move and asleep.

The nurse at the desk looked at her as she walked by.

Rin left the hospital, she stood outside breathing deeply.

A dragon walked by stopped and turned to talk to Rin.

"Are you Rin?"

"Um yes..."she said slowly as she looked up.

The Dragon looked at her. "Hello I am Kenzi's sister, my name is Sthyr. I heard a lot about you. I am sorry about Kenzi; he was always getting into trouble when he was young."

"I-It's all right..."she stuttered

"When I and Kenzi were about three our mom was killed by a train and our dad cried over the loss of his dear wife, and shortly passed away from it. Kenzi was never the same, until he met you. I thought I would never see his face like that again, so happy, full of energy." Her eyes started to water, but she wiped them on her arm and tried to keep her cool.

Rin bit her lips and closed her eyes to stop the tears from coming again.

"I hope this is not something that would keep you two apart. You two would look good together."

"Umm..."Rin only managed to nod her head

"yes?"

"Kenzi is..." she paused and blinked back her tears.

"Yes what is it?"

Rin broke down crying unable to speak

She walked closer to her and sat her down on the benches next to the door. "It is ok I am sure Kenzi is fine I am sure of it."

Rin sniffed and wiped the tears with the back of her hand. "y-you sure?" she sniffed again.

"Yes of course, as long as he doesn't cry that is. We Dragons live long lives and can be killed by our own hands, but it takes more than a car wreck to kill that hard headed boy."

Rin nodded her head weakly.

"Please don't hate Kenzi, his actions are strange but at least his heart is in the right place."

"I don't hate him" she said quietly holding her tail

"I have to see my brother now, please come up anytime."

Rin nodded her head

"Thank you for looking after Kenzi for me."

Rin merely nodded her head again

Sthyr walked in through the doors and up to Kenzi's room.

Rin stood up and started to walk

The nurse from upstairs came out and lights a cigarette. "Kenzi is fine" he said to Rin. "He is stable and he is awake. He asked where you were."

Does he want to see me? She asked softly

"Yes, he said to find you and tell you to come to him. Why is something wrong?"

"Oh uh no...I'll see him now" she smiled>

"ok." the nurse sat outside and smoked his cigarette.

Rin wandered back into the hospital holding onto her tail and breathing deeply, she paused outside of Kenzi's room

There were voices coming from his room and Kenzi's was one of them.

Rin knocked gently on the door as she opened it and looked in,

Kenzi was awake and sitting up talking to his sister, he saw her look in the room and his face light up.

"Hello" she said softly and smiled at him.

"I'm glad you came back Rin"

"How are you?" she asked stepping forward hesitantly.

"I am good I feel a lot better, but something is bugging me. Sis can you leave us for a minute?"

Kenzi's sister "sure of course." and she left the room.

"You wanted to see me?" Rin asked softly

"I-I feel like I have known you forever, yet you and me have just met a few days ago. I don't know why but I want to tell you everything about me."

"I'm listening" Rin said with a smile as she sat on the edge of the bed.

"When my mom and dad died I was alone, my life seem to be at a fatal end but I found a pet to help me through the tough times till she got hit by a car and she died. I never felt so pained when that happened. When you said 'No' to me I thought of killing myself, but I kept my promise to water the flowers every day."

Rin looked down. "I don't want to be a pet Kenzi"

"I know I want you to be my wife." he held out a ring with a diamond on it and a ruby on both sides on a gold band.

Rin gasped her eyes wide. "Your-your wife?" she squeaked

"Yes I want you to marry me. I know it is kind of a bad time but I want you to marry me. Please will you marry me?"

"Yes..."Rin replied breathlessly. "I will"

A smile came to Kenzi's face as he slipped the ring on Rin's finger.

Rin leaned in and kissed him her eyes closing.

Kenzi reached up and strokes her cheek gently.

Rin blushed slightly as she continued to kiss him.
