Trice landed next to her father in the resurrection cave they had built.
“Did you feel it?" She asked him.
“I did, Sam and Sapphire have returned." Michael smiled.
Trice looked over at the four cores. “They're ready."
Michael nodded. “All we need is the audience."
“Who are we going to do first?"
“Probably Silver, she will be the most difficult, because of her elements."
Trice looked at the black core, and smiled. “She's going to be confused, we found her biological mother, father, her daughter, and her daughter is going to be having eggs of her own."
“Then mad, when she finds out what happened to Cynder while I was in a statue." Michael replied.
“I'm not doing it, you can though."
Michael gave her a sidelong glance. “Thanks, it was all I ever wanted; to tell your sister that her daughter was corrupted by her mate, freed by another purple dragon, then they became mated, and both are the crowns of the elemental dragons."
Trice chuckled. “Welcome."
Spyro walked into the abandoned house that Liam was supposed to be laid in.
“The original spell is long gone." Sapphire told them. “All that's left is a nest and couple of toys."
They looked over at the nest, and inspected it closely.
“Nothing unusual here." Spyro mumbled.
They looked around the house, and found a photo of two dragons sitting on a nightstand next to a large bed. The two dragons were both red, and Sapphire stared at them for a minute.
“It's hard to believe that both of Liam's parents were red." She told them.
“Right? I thought that was weird too." Sam replied.
They walked back out into the city, and looked at the wreckage before them.
“A bunch of zombies did this?" Spyro asked.
“When they horde together, they become practically unstoppable. We found it easier to just blow them up instead of fighting them." Sam explained.
Spyro nodded, and they flew out of the main entrance of the city, through the cave entrance, and out under the afternoon sun. Spyro gasped when he noticed a massive valley nearby.
“Was that one of them?" He asked.
“Yeah, one of the hordes was approaching, and the city still had some people left in it, se we blasted it out of existence. I fired this particular missile actually." Sapphire told him.
Spyro looked over at the massive crater, and gulped, power like that can be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands.
“What's a missile?" He asked.
“A technological device, it uses fire to propel itself at a direction, and internal guidance mechanisms to guide it to its destination. Then, it explodes when it contacts something. The one's used on this planet have plasma warheads, which expel very hot substances and spread very quickly, creating a large, but usually flat crater. You might think this one's deep, but compared to antimatter, nuclear, and most non-nuclear warheads, this one changes the landscape the least." Sapphire explained.
They landed in the center of the crater, and Sam picked up a small piece of metal.
“B class, 8 megatons." He told them.
“How can you tell?" Cynder replied.
“The crater tells you how many megatons, while the structure of remnants can tell you the class." Sam told her, looking over the metal shard.
“The biggest one that was dropped was an X class, 82 megaton warhead, it demolished the entire continent." Sapphire added.
“They are surprisingly good for the environment; they completely wipe almost every trace of civilization from the surface. Leaving behind an area that can easily become full of life." Sam replied.
Sapphire turned to Spyro. “Where is Faun exactly?"
“I don't know the specific number, here, let me."
He stepped forward and opened a portal, and they walked through. They walked into the dimly lit square, it was night, but the group could clearly see two dragons talking outside Michael's house. Spyro noticed that one of them was in fact Michael. But when they appeared the other dragon looked over at them in fear. Then it quickly turned and handed Michael a small bundle, then turned and ran off. Michael called for the dragon to wait, but it had already flown off. The group walked up to Michael.
“What was that?" Spyro asked.
“Another egg, this makes three."
“Three? What? Already?" Cynder replied.
“Ignitus' egg, another blue one, and this…" He removed the blanket covering, revealing a normal-sized, black egg. “Egg years are a pain; I expect at least three more."
“Hi dad." Sapphire cut in.
Michael smiled “Hi sweetie, how was your nap, your lucky it's been so long or I would be slapping you right now."
“Yeah, yeah." She rolled her eyes “Nice place you got here."
Trice walked out of the house and froze, then smiled. “Sapphire, it's been way to long."
“Trice? You're so big now!"
Trice scoffed. “Now, I've been like this for billions of years."
They walked into the house and Sapphire's gaze immediately fell on Sophia, May was sleeping in her forearms, and they were both snoring lightly. Sophia awoke when she heard Sapphire's gasp, and smiled at her.
“Hey sis." She mumbled, yawning.
“Where's Max? And Junior?"
“Juniors out on a shattered planet not far from here, studying it, while Max is pretty far away, ruling the ML." Trice explained.
“And Mom?"
“I'm in here sweetie." Bea called from the nest room.
Sapphire walked to her mother and smiled. “Another clutch?"
“Yep." Bea replied, and laughed when Michael set another egg. “Finally, a boy, I wanted to raise at least one boy in this clutch."
Michael raised an eyebrow, and returned to the living room, leaving his daughter and wife to catch up.
“Spyro, Cynder, how was your trip?" He asked them.
“Educational, but very boring." Cynder answered.
“But also relaxing." Spyro added.
When the sun rises, I'm calling a meeting." He told them. “You better be there."
Sam chuckled. “Some things never change."
“Yeah, that blade has passed down through several thousand generations, those face markings too." Michael replied.
Sophia yawned and picked up her sleeping child, then walked into the guest room and closed the door. Michael looked back at Cynder, who's eyelids were drooping.
“Go get some sleep, you have a few hours." He told them.
They nodded and walked out of the house. Aura and Sam suddenly appeared on the other side of the square, they were fully armored, and covered in dirt. They noticed Spyro and Cynder, and walked up to them, smiling.
“Hey there, you're back." Sam greeted.
“Hi, yeah, we just got here." Spyro replied.
Cynder leaned against him, suddenly feeling very tired.
“Is my sister here, Sapphire?" Aura asked.
Spyro nodded, and she smiled.
“I've always wanted to meet her" She stated.
Sam nudged her with his snout, then motioned at Cynder. “Let's let them get some sleep."
Aura nodded, and they walked away. Spyro looked over and hefted Cynder over him, then walked into their house. Spyro set Cynder on the bed, and removed everything from his storage, then laid down around her. She smiled and curled her tail around his, then immediately fell asleep. Spyro followed, happy to be home, because they are staying this time.
Cynder woke on their bed, surprised for a moment, then she remembered Spyro carrying her there. She noticed a fire letter above his head, and read it. Then she nuzzled him awake.
“Hey." She purred. “Michael wants to speak with everyone."
Spyro groaned and arched his back, then opened his eyes. He smiled at her, then got up. They stretched, and walked out of their house. Everybody else was already out, and they smiled and greeted the two dragons. When everyone had settled down, Michael walked up and cleared his throat.
“Hello, everyone, today is the day I will be giving formal invitations to select dragons, to join me as ethereal beings."
Aura, Sam, Trice, Sapphire, Sophia, and the elder Sam stood next to him, all smiling at the crowd.
“Spyro… Cynder… Star… Mark… Flame…. Ember… I officially give you these invitations. If you choose to ascend, you will do so in pairs, and join me as immortals. You have one week to decide, but has anybody already decided?"
“We have." Star called.
Mark looked a little shocked, but smiled at his mate. “We will take up your offer." He called
Michael smiled, and nodded at them. Spyro turned to Flame and Ember, who were talking in hushed whispers.
“What do you think?" Cynder asked him.
“I like the idea of spending eternity with you." He turned to her smiling. “But watching the world age, the people, grow old and die. I don't know."
“It's not like that's going to happen soon." Cynder replied. “I kind of want to."
Spyro looked shocked “You do?"
“I don't really have much here, other than you." She replied. “Sure, I have family, but they aren't as close as we are, nobody is. Plus if Ember and Flame join, we can have our friends come with us."
Spyro nodded. “Alright, let's do it."
Cynder smiled, then called to Michael. “Us too, were doing it."
Michael nodded to them, then turned to Flame and Ember. They looked over at Spyro and Cynder, then back to Michael.
“We'll do it too." Flame called.
The rest of the group cheered, and Michael turned to Spyro.
“Is there anybody else you would like me to give the invitation too?"
“Our parents?" Spyro replied.
Michael scoffed. “Duh."
“Camry and Layla." Cynder added. “And Lumi's family."
“Lumi and Amber already refused." Michael told them. “But I can offer it to Camry and Layla."
Spyro smiled at Cynder, and Michael turned back to the group.
“Two more." He called. “Camry and Layla, you also have been given a choice."
The two dragons looked up in surprise, then looked at each other for a moment. They nodded in unison and turned to the crowd; Layla opened her mouth to say something but Camry beat her to it.
“Why not?"
The group chuckled, and Layla shot him an irritated look, before breaking down and smiling. Michael turned and motioned for the group to disband. But the eight dragons remained with Michael.
“How does ascension work?" Mark asked.
“You will be brought in pairs to an ethereal temple, far from this dimension. Then I will use my power to make you ascend into ethereal beings." Michael explained.
“Will our children be immortal?" Ember asked.
“At first, no, they will be tougher, and can't be killed, but they still can get hurt, or injured badly. Also, they still need to be fed. But when they fully unlock their powers, immortality will follow a few years after. Your family lines will be immortal, from now on." Michael told them. “Your immortalities will be different at first. For a long while, you will feel no difference. You will still feel pain and can be hurt, but you just can't die, unless there is a special weapon or something, but don't worry about that. You will have extra powers; the ethereal element will be available for you; I will teach you how to use it."
“Sam and Aura have the same thing?" Star asked
“Yes, they do, but Aura has been training for it since she was born. She has been teaching Sam." He answered. “I think Camry and Layla should go first."
Camry and Layla nodded, and turned to leave.
“Not today." Michael called. “Tomorrow, first light, wear your armor."
They nodded again, and everybody started to leave.
“Spyro, Cynder, the resurrection is ready when were done with the ascensions, Silver is first."
Cynder gasped, and smiled over at Spyro, then shot back to face Michael. “What about Spyro's parents?"
“Rose is last, Fury's next; I'm ordering them from hardest to easiest." Michael replied
“It's fine." Spyro told his mate. “I want you to meet your mother first."
Cynder looked over at him, with tears in her eyes, causing Michael to vanish.
“You're so nice, you deserve to meet your parents first."
Spyro shook his head. “No, I can wait, I want you to be happy before me."
Cynder sniffed. “But you saved me from corruption."
“You will not only be carrying our eggs, but also laying them and probably spend the most time guarding them, and a lot of time caring for them when they hatch." Spyro laughed. “Think of it as me making up for all the things beforehand."
Cynder froze. “That's a good point."
“Also, I don't think Michael's changing his mind anyway." Spyro added.
“Yeah, probably." Cynder chuckled.
They walked into their house, and sat down on the couch. Flame and Ember joined them soon after, and they chatted for a while.
“Your parents came by." Flame told Spyro.
“They did?" Spyro replied. “I told them I would be gone for a while."
“Yeah, they forgot apparently, and were mumbling something about never seeing you." Ember smirked.
Spyro shook his head, and pulled out some paper to send them a letter. He wrote on it for a minute, before writing the fire rune.
“That's going to scare them." Cynder chuckled.
“A giant letter floating above their house, it might get their attention." Spyro replied.
“Sapphire seems cool, I saw her through the window when you guys got back." Ember told them.
Spyro nodded, “Yeah, she's nice, she really wants to find her brother, but he's long gone."
Star, Mark, and Camry walked into the living room.
“Hi." Star greeted them. “Sorry to barge in, but we haven't had a chance to hang out since we got here."
“Layla's off getting a spa treatment to prepare for our ascension, so I thought I would check in." Camry added.
“Your always welcome here." Spyro told them
Cynder nodded and smiled, then frowned suddenly. “Wait, we have to prepare for the ascension?"
“Not really, she's just paranoid, even though it's just going to be us and Michael." Camry shrugged.
They talked for a while, then the girls went to cook dinner and chat in the kitchen.
“So, what did you guys do while you were gone?" Flame asked.
“Not much really, just read about what happened to Providence. We lounged around a lot, and checked around the city some." Spyro answered.
“Did you fight anyone?" Mark asked.
“A few weird shadow creatures, but they weren't hard to defeat. We saw some large groups of them though." Spyro replied
They heard the girls laughing in the kitchen.
“So that's why they wanted to go; some private chatting away from us." Mark chuckled.
Spyro looked over at the doorway. “Cynder also got some expensive steaks, and probably wanted to try out some new spices with them."
More giggling from the kitchen, Spyro could hear Cynder's voice talking about something, he couldn't hear what though.
“I baked some bread yesterday; it should pair nice with them." He added.
They sat there for a moment, not sure what to say.
“So…" Camry broke the silence “Egg year."
“Yeah, can't wait." Mark smiled. “A bunch of black hatchlings, running around, maybe a white one."
“A white one? How is that possible?" Spyro turned
“Sometimes, due to this whole 'Scale of Power' thing, we can have children that are opposite us." Mark explained, shrugging. “I don't care, I would love them all the same."
“Michael was talking about the concentration of powerful dragons that are laying this year means that there is going to be a lot of powerful hatchlings. Also, since this is the first egg year in the new age of dragons, it is statistically likely that we all will all have a lot of eggs." Flame told them.
“That has an affect?" Camry replied.
“Yeah, something to do with magical radiation. It can affect the amount, color, and sometimes the gender." Flame told him.
“Our families have all colors, so we have no idea what to expect." Spyro told them.
“Yeah, ours are really simple; black, all of them, with a small but good chance of white." Mark replied, chuckling.
“We have the main pink and red, with a chance of any other of the plain elements, were the only normal ones here." Flame chuckled.
“Were normal." Camry cut in. “We only have a royal name, so that means we will be having the normal elements. We both have an equal mix of the main elements."
“Then it's just the four of us." Flame replied. “We have Cynder, Star, Effie, Nebula, and Aura. All of them will be having powerful hatchlings, but us."
“Were all going to be immortal." Spyro added, “Plus, who cares, less power means that they will have an easier time learning how to use it. I have no idea how to teach anybody how to use Dark, Poison, or even anything other than the base four. We are still learning how to use all of our powers."
“Yeah, Michael has offered to teach all of our kids not only to use their full powers, but also to fight as well." Mark told them.
“He did?" Spyro turned back to him.
“You were gone for two weeks, Michael's going to gather all of us together and Bea is going to take all the girls, and basically answer all the questions we might have about raising children, and how he's going to be involved." Mark replied. “Since he will be raising some of his own."
“So, he will be teaching them how to fight as well?" Spyro asked.
“He said we will be teaching them the basics, then he will go into the more advanced stuff. It's likely they won't start until they're teens." Mark explained. “As for the elements, that will be up to you, he said you're more than welcome to be a part of the training."
