However, the post master called, "Mail runners, to your starting positions!"

Duke wasn’t smiling back for he was focused but also saddened at the same time.

"Get set!" added the post master than fired a flare in the air and the dogs took off. Duke, however, was having a slow start until his plane roared to life and took off.

The dogs were able to take a pretty early lead at the first half of the race until they looked up and saw Duke was just beside them moving at a brisk pace.

But then Duke looked back to see Cruallen glaring at him and the plane took off into the air taking the lead.

“Keep pushing guys we can do it!” Troy called out to the team

However, Horace and Jasper were far ahead as they put some dynamite under an ice bridge and then blew it up and it crumbled into the river below. "They won't be able to get across that, Horace, me lad," chuckled Jasper.

He tried to make Horace put it away, but it went off into the air causing some of the snow to come loose. "Quick!" said Jasper as he and Horace hurried into their truck and drove off just before the snow fell on top of them.

Muk and Luk looked at each other and ran off "that may have bought us some time but how much we don't know" Muk would say

Soon Duke would start the plane back up and took off flying again

He then had a hard time seeing and that he didn't realize he was flying too low and clips a tree and would crash to the ground below which would completely destroy the plane.

Nathan woke up from the sudden jolt. "What was that?" he said looking around and popped the lid of the baggage compartment. He gasped at the devastation. "Oh no," he said noticing Duke was unconscious. He was about to check on him when he saw headlights and out of a truck came Jasper and Horace. Nathan quickly hid inside and listened. "Come on," said Jasper, "Let's take the mail and head back to Nome." "But what about Duke?" asked Horace. "Leave him," said Jasper, "He's dead weight to Cruallen now anyway."

Nathan would growl hearing this and waited till the goons were gone and saw the two polar bears "Nathan! you ok?!" Muk asked

"Muk! Luk!" shouted Nathan, "Go get help! Duke's in no condition to travel like this. I need you two to go back to Nome and get help. But watch out for Jasper and Horace... And especially Cruallen if you see him."

They would nod. "On it!" Muk said as he and Luk took off running back to nome. meanwhile Kodi looked up and didn't hear anything in the sky. "Hey dad? Uncle Troy do you guys hear the plane anymore?" he asked.

They all looked up to listen but could hear nothing. "I guess this means we're beating it after all," said Kodi smiling, "Come on! Let's get going!"

Balto and Troy looked at each other in a concerned way and saw nome was in the horizon. but when they could see the finish line they could hear the sound of an engine getting close but it was spitting and sputtering. "JASPER AND HORACE!!!" Shadow called out seeing them.

"QUICK!" called Kodi, "We have to cross the finish line before they do!"

The team was now running as fast as they could seeing they were closing in but the finish line was just right there.

With one last burst of speed, they made it to the post office just in time.

The town and dogs soon cheered happily as Jasper and Horace slide to a stop pounding the wheel angrily

Cruallen was fuming mad at this and walked over to Jasper and Horace's truck. "What the hell happened out there?!" he demanded angrily making the two men flinch in fear.

"Duke crashed so we took the mail try to see if we could beat the dogs here" Jasper said

Cruallen snarled as he smacked both of them. "You couldn't have just run them over, you idiots?!" he growled, "And where's Duke's plane?"

“About 20 miles east from here" Horace said holding his face. "but he is unconscious so we figured the wolves or the cold will kill him"

Cruallen snarled and pulled on Horace's collar. "Do you realize that most of my plans have been foiled by both dogs... and wolves?" he growled, "And that wretch has vital information that could ruin my entire plans! And if you fools didn't have the guts to finish him off, I'll destroy him myself! I hope for your sake you mapped out the crash."

"We just grabbed the mail and ran" Horace said with a gulp.

"And you don't remember where specifically?" snarled Cruallen, but Jasper held up a map, "Here it is," he replied nervously as Cruallen snatched up the drawing. "I'll deal with that fool of a pilot later," he said, "First, I have to see about settling a bet."

"Hello Cruallen" said a familiar young voice from behind

"Why don't you just be happy that you won the stupid bet," spat Cruallen, "And Duke is my problem and not yours. He probably ran out of fuel and radioed them to take it for him."

"So what?" asked Kodi, "Better that damn pilot than one of us. Shadow?"

"Shadow... You're giving up your own job?" asked Kodi feeling hurt, "I... I thought you loved delivering the mail."

"I do love my job...and because of dad, i have it forever as you all as well. but we cant let an innocent human get murdered." Shadow said "now are you guys coming or not”

"Innocent? He was working with Cruallen the whole time!" snapped Kodi defensively, "And now you expect us to help you save a traitor? A villain?”

"Yeah but my dad always said should get to know someone before judging them. and right now they need our help and I'm going weather you like it or not,” he said and Left as did Troy leaving Balto and Kodi to stare at each other. "If you ever want to come with as well we are going to be at Bear Mountain, Just think about it,” he would say and left to join them.

But Kodi didn’t bother to budge. He was torn apart from the inside.

Meanwhile, Cruallen had already gotten a head start and was driving towards the crash site.

He would growl angrily as he would light a cigarette up and would take a long drag on it as he would fight through the snowy terrain.

Meanwhile Troy Balto and Shadow said their quick goodbyes and be back soon with their families and raced off into the woods as Aleu looked at her mother. "You think they will be ok mom?" she would ask.

No!!" Balto said and soon Cruallen was knocked over by shadow with a body check and soon stood proud beside his father as the 2 stood in front of Balto and Duke "i see you met my son Shadow" Troy would say as the human got up grabbing the axe that had been knocked out of his hand.

"You won't get away with this!" snarled Cruallen as he crawled away, "I will get my revenge! I'll get even. Just wait. You'll be sorry, you fools! You idiots!" He finally crawled inside his car and then drove away as fast as he could.

Shadow huffed and looked back at Duke and knowing he was able to understand him and vice versa "you ok Duke?" the black red and white Malamute asked

"I'm okay thanks to all of you," said Duke but winced in pain, "Well, I'm definitely not going to walk back to Nome."

"Well gonna have to sled you back" Shadow said

Duke looked his plane over and then ripped off the cover for the baggage compartment. "This might do it," he said as he set it on the ground. Just then, they heard some howls and in came Kodi and the rest of his team. "Heard you had a special delivery," he said to Balto, "I... I'm really sorry for what I said earlier."

Balto smiles nuzzling him "that doesn’t matter anymore. We need to get home." Kodi nodded Troy grabs all the ropes and makes them into a sled rope "there is only enough for a small team which is enough and I think you guys should get it" Troy said to the others

Kodi smiled and nodded. "Come on, everyone," he called, "We have a life to save."

They all nodded and cheered happily as Troy helped them into the rope harness and then took his feral form back and Nathan hopped onto his back "did ya miss me?" Troy said with a smile at the cat

Nathan, in his feral form, rode with Duke to keep the human warm on the journey back to Nome.
