Ch 5: Discussion
Imported from SF2 with no description.
Looking up and off towards the western horizon in the sky, I manage to discern a brighter point in the green overcast clouds, sunset was finally on its way, perhaps tomorrow would be the day to see the sun, the twilight hours wouldn't last long with the covered sky overhead but it seemed with the days stretching on, it would still persist longer than I'd expect. The humidity had dropped slightly thanks to the less dense foliage and the smell of dead flesh was almost a welcome change over that of the overbearing flora.
Inferno and Calamity had made their way over to the water barrel drinking their fill and emptying the first barrel, once they'd returned Calamity made quick work distributing the meat from two of the felines, we sat close to each other to eat. I now realized that I missed the kobolds cooking back home, preferring their seasoned meals over the raw meat I sat here staring upon with a distasteful eye. The price of being spoiled I guess.
“Everything alright my Tyrant" Inferno asked, her mouth pausing agape before out came spewing flames that washed cleanly over her meal, burning away the fur almost in an instant and cooking the flesh of the meat. My eyes light up as I watch, not just with the reflection of the flames but with a yearning for a similar treatment to my own food.
“Oh right, my Dominion is not a fan of raw meat, he prefers his cooked and very well seasoned." Calamity explains as Inferno gives a slightly confused look back at me. I glance away from her now rarely cooked meat over to Calamity as he noisily tore away a large chunk of meat from his portion and gulped it down in one like the glutton he was. Looking back I see Inferno quickly glances back at me from Calamity as he gulped down the other chunk of food, a slight frown furrowing her brow as she glared back at my wide grin.
“Please, my Tyrant don't title me as your personal chef" She sighs out. “The Fury Bloodline of dragons were known to be deadly warriors, not hatch sitters."
“I'm considering the idea" I tease, my grin widening even more. She folds after a few moments though to my charm and leans over to use her flames to cook my feline to which I praise and thank her in return.
“Are you not capable of cooking the meat yourself with your own flames my Tyrant?" She asks as I begin to tear, chew and swallow down the gamy but delicious cat meat and glance back to answer.
“You are aware every dragon's breath attack is different, right? Depending on their culture or scale colour?" I retort, finding it incredulous that she doesn't seem to know the fact.
“Oh!..We are taught this knowledge, my Tyrant. However I've never seen a different coloured scaled dragon until I was sent to the Dragon Realm, I may have forgotten the fact and in fairness I was never actually told what other cultural dragons were capable of doing." Of course, the Fire Realm is known for its isolation, I should have figured. She has no idea what we are capable of doing.
“Well the glutton over their breaths out acid and is also of course immune to similar acids" Calamity gave me an annoyed glance more due to the undesired pet name I occasionally used_._ “My breath…" I stop myself and consider what I am about to say.
“Oh right, you don't want to know about my Dominion's 'flames', they are not a pretty sight to see." Calamity inserts, coming to my rescue. Inferno however insists on knowing, stating that for combat purposes it could be crucial to know and unfortunately for me, she had a point.
“My breath attack, to put it simply... ends life. Leaving no trace behind, much like disintegration, but more...completely." Even having to describe the effects of my breath makes my scales feel weird, “So I tend not to use it, if I can help it. It's too destructive...too...final. So, to reiterate; no, I cannot cook my own food, the meat would simply cease to exist"
“No wonder you black scales are so feared my Tyrant, no one would stand a chance." She retorted. Yeahhh, its why my Sire is seen to be god like. He could wipe realms out of existence if he so desired too.
“There is a set back, since you aren't so aware of the different types of breaths; the majority of dragons can almost constantly use their breath attack. Black scales however do have to wait a good while for our fuel sack to replenish for another use" I say, explaining that I can also control the volume of the attack.
“I see, considering nothing will be left, you should have nothing to worry about my Tyrant" She retorts, taking a chomp out of the feline.
“Indeed" I reply Unless I catch a part of you within my breaths attack... We continue to eat in silence for a while, until Inferno excuses herself to relieve herself in the woods nearby. I would need to do the same shortly, however this was a opportunity to finally speak with Calamity. “So, what are your thoughts about Inferno, is she...trust worthy?" I ask. Calamity chuckles.
“My Dominion she is completely smitten with you, much like myself." He answers.
“She has feelings for me!?" I ask stupidly, surprised by the motion. Then again it would explain the winking and general flirtatious approach she'd taken and of course her over cautious concern for me.
“Oh yes my Dominion, before me, Inferno vowed to serve and protect you to prove to her bloodline that she is indeed a worthy warrior to fear and revere. Did you really think your ward would be so accepting if she meant to bring you harm. I would never allow any harm come to you" Calamity says with some slight consternation, as if I had insulted his abilities to keep me safe.
“I was more concerned about betrayal or her turning you against me" The words leave my maw before I can stop myself. Calamity gives me a stern look of animosity. I should have know better than to accuse him of betraying me.
“I would never betray my beloved Dominion" Calamity gets up on all fours and steps towards me “The Dominion I admire, adore, appreciate and love with all my heart. Nor would Inferno" Calamity says sincerely and restraint of some indignation. I grumble to myself, loathing that I had upset him. I was about to apologise when Inferno returned, landing close by. Calamity announces he must expel himself and takes flight leaving me with a grinning Inferno like she just glamoured herself for a night of passion. I had hoped this would not be the case.
