The Ambush

Huge feral cat witch Griselda BlackClawe was gathering deadly herbs for her craft, pulling many roots and vines from the disheveled abandoned farmer's field where she was ingredient-hunting.
"Ahh, mansbane." She purred, yanking the thorned root from the soil, her fur protecting her from its nasty thorns. She heard men shouting in the distance, but she bristled and spun as suddenly those noises were very close. Griselda gasped as a large cross post that had once held a big scarecrow was set on fire by a casted fireball spell, it crackled and popped loudly as she snarled at her attackers, extending her sheathed claws in a fast move.
"There she is, get the bitch! Tie her to the burning post, boys! Let's burn her like the rancid witch she is."
There was her newly-made enemy, Abaddon LightningSword the warlock angel, though it had been months since she'd fought him and the battle had ended in a tie, which had very much hurt the arrogant man's ego, she'd noticed with laughter, though the fight had almost killed her too.
"How kind of you to come back, couldn't stay away, I see." Griselda mocked, she bared her feline teeth and extended her foot long claws far as they'd go, enchanting them with her glowing green magic, she swiped at some of Abaddon's many cohorts attacking her with magic and blade and knocked over three, seriously injuring one of them, who started to scream and writhe around, hand on his stomach, which she'd slashed open. Griselda grinned wide at the blood on her claws and dove into the fray, attacking the men with furious enchanted claws and teeth, Abaddon and a few others hurled magical fire attacks her way, she managed to avoid many in her lithe feline form despite her size, Griselda pounced on another man, who stabbed her paw with his magic dagger, she bit down on his head and tore it clean off, swallowing it and licking her lips.
"Ahh, nothing like male brains for breakfast, though they are rather dense. Face it, worm, you cannot beat me!" Griselda laughed, leaving the slain magician's body to convulse violently as it bled out in a gruesome display. The men immediately retreated from her and joined Abaddon and a few others in a distance attack, still she pressed them with a demented grin, unfazed.
"Damn it, kill her!" Abaddon screamed, he threw a potion that acted as an accelerant for his fire spells and cast a fiery whirlwind, Griselda winced as she was knocked back and an explosion set off on her side, making her meowl in pain and run, some of her fur ablaze. Quick on her feet, she rolled in the dirt, putting out the flames before they did much damage to her body. She spread her big bat wings, which had started this entire feud when she'd made a dark deal with Abaddon's son to save his girlfriend's life in exchange for his angel wings and halo, which she'd refused to give back. James had regrown his wings and halo since with the help of some friends and his own soul, but Abaddon wanted Griselda dead out of principle now; she was a mockery to his family name. She blew Abaddon a jeering kiss and spread her bat wings, taking off with her herbs until she was so high the men lost sight of her.
Abaddon spread his own raven wings and went to follow; his colleague stopped him with a rough arm grab.
"Abaddon, don't! Rolph is badly injured by her & Maxon is dead. We need a better strategy, she's stronger than we thought."
Abaddon roughly threw the other warlock off him in a fit of rage, screaming and kicking over the flaming scarecrow post.
"You think I didn't fucking see what she did to them? That's just another reason to kill the cunt! I want her dead, Seamus!" Abaddon roared, his cohort wrestled with him, trying to calm him and failing.
"I know that, damn it! But your rage is going to get you killed, she used it against you! She's cunning and ruthless. We cannot go in guns blazing again, or we'll lose more men." Seamus pleaded.
"We need a tank! My son is a hulking brute of a tanker, but he'd never fight her, she saved his wench." Abaddon spat in the dirt angrily, wiping his face, which was dirty from combat.
"Then we'll find another way."
"Damn it all to hell! Fuck!" Abaddon screamed, kicking and cursing angrily as he walked off the field, his brothers helping the terribly wounded one and carrying the decapitated man out on a sheet behind their furious leader.
