The Sleeping Dragon In a far away land long ago, lived a dragon king named Spyro who ruled over a vast land of humans and anthros alike along with his queen, Cynder. But despite the peace and prosperity in their kingdom, they were sad and lonely. But one day, the queen had given birth to a son and they called him Orion. Then a great holiday was proclaimed throughout the kingdom so that all of high or low estate might pay homage to the infant prince. And our story begins on that most joyful day. Soon everyone both great importance and simple farmers were all invited to come and congratulate the royals on their first child. One of them was a lonely widow who brought fresh milk from her dairy farm. And then a bright sun beam shone through and out from it came Mother Nature and the four seasons: Spring Unicorn, Summer Stallion, Autumn Colt and the Snow King. “Spyro, Cynder, good to see you both” Mother Nature says with a smile greeting them warmly The other seasons came up and bowed to the king and queen. “Each of us will grant your son with a single gift,” said Mother Nature, “No more no less.” Spring first came up to the cradle. “Little Prince, to you I grant the gift of beauty,” said Spring making flower petals dance over the baby dragon. The little dragon giggled happily as does Spyro and Cynder as well Summer then approached smiling as he glowed softly. “To you, young prince, I grant the gift of courage,” he said allowing his radiance to wash over the infant. Autumn came up and let some autumn leafs float around him and he came up to tickle the prince, who giggled. "To you, my prince, I offer you the gift of joy and laughter," he said. Then came the Snow King with his snowflakes and the baby dragon was most intrigued by this sight as the icy being offered the infant a small snowflake necklace. "To you, my dear prince, I offer you the gift of finding love and kindness wherever you go," he said softly. Mother Nature was about to give hers when suddenly, a huge gust of wind blew the doors open. Lightning flashed and emerging from red flames was a white wolf in a black cloak and red eyes. In his paw, he held a sharp sickle. “Why… It’s Lobo!” gasped Spring. “What does he want here?” growled Autumn but his father Summer shushed him. "Having a grand get together are we? And invite everyone but me? So I decided to see what this hype is all about" he would say leaning against his staff “You weren’t wanted,” snapped Autumn but his father quickly covered his son’s mouth. “Lobo, this is a time to celebrate life,” said Mother Nature, “Please don’t be angry with the king and queen.” “Oh, I know. Their new young boy.... you guys didn’t show when I invited you to celebrate Troy’s birth" he huffed angrily “That’s because the living aren’t allowed down in the Underworld, remember?” retorted Autumn as he wriggled free of Summer’s grasp. "I'm painfully aware you leafy colt, but you legendary figures couldn’t have at least pay your respects in seeing him" the wolf huffed angrily The baby dragon heard the loud voices and was beginning to cry. Queen Cynder hurried over to comfort her son. “Please, Lord Lobo, if we offended you in any way, we beg your forgiveness,” she said. But the wolf had a sly grin on his face. “ Of course, my queen,” he said bowing, “And to show I bear no ill will, I too shall bestow a gift on your son.” The seasons were shocked and crowded around the queen and her son. “Listen well, all of you!” declared Lobo raising his sickle in the air, “The young prince shall indeed grow in grace and courage. Beloved by all who know him. But… before the sunsets on his 20th birthday, he shall prick his finger on the thorns of a black rose and die!” “Oh no!” gasped Cynder holding the baby closer to her chest. The wolf soon cackled evilly gripping his sickle tightly wickedly “Seize that monster!” roared Spyro angrily pointing at Lobo and soldiers surrounded the wolf. "Enough!! I’ll be seeing y’all!!" Lobo cackled out before disappearing in a smoke screen before the guards could grab him Spyro held his queen and child close. Cynder was nuzzling her son trying not to cry. “Don’t despair, your majesties,” replied Mother Nature gently, "Istill have my gift to give.” "Ok" Spyro and Cynder says listening closely "Ican’t remove the curse completely but I can change the outcome,” she said as Cynder handed Orion to her, “Sweet prince, if through death’s trick, a rose thorn should your finger prick, a ray of hope there still may be in this. Not in death but just in sleep. And from this slumber you shall wake with true love’s kiss.” "You truly think that will work, Mother Nature?" Autumn asked "Lobo is a powerful being… not as powerful his son is when he become the same age.” "We'll discuss it later," whispered Mother Nature to Autumn, "For now, let's just make sure the prince is safe. Perhaps make sure there are no black roses in this kingdom for a start." "Indeed. I want all of the black roses to be gotten rid of in the kingdom,” Spyro said Later that night, Mother Nature was alone with the other seasons. "Oh, silly fiddle faddle," she muttered while Spring offered some herbal tea. "I'm sure there has to be something we can do ma'am" Spring says softly "Well, burning the black roses won't stop Lobo," muttered Autumn, "If I had my way, I'd turn his head into a pumpkin." "Violence ain’t gonna solve everything my son" Summer says as he lays back drinking some iced tea "Well, that would make me happy," pouted Autumn crossing his arms and the Snow King was pacing the room. "There must be some way," he thought and then grinned, "There is!" "Whatcha had in mind my chilly cousin?" Summer asked The human was about to explain but he covered his mouth and looked around before whispering, "Even walls have ears." He looked around and shrank himself so that he could fit inside a small toy model ship. He went inside the captain's cabin of the model letting Spring, Summer, Autumn and Mother Nature follow him inside. "I'll give him a month full of snow," said the Snow King. "Lobo?" asked Autumn but the Snow King shook his head. "No, the prince," he said, "Don't you see? A flower can't grow in cold weather, it would be out of season and he'd be perfectly safe." "Until Lobo sends a heat wave," muttered Autumn. "Yes- Oh dear," gulped the human realizing the colt was right. "There has to be another way" Summer said resuming sipping on his tea "Besides he'll be expecting us to do something like that," sighed the Snow King. "Well, what won't he expect?" asked Autumn sitting in a chair, "He knows everything." Summer rubs his chin thinking "wait...what if we have him go into hiding?" "That could work, but where," said Spring when Mother Nature looked out the window at the widow carrying the milk cans down to the royal kitchens. She grinned big and wide. "That's it! Of course!" she exclaimed, "It's the only thing Lobo can't understand and won't expect. Now we'll have to plan it carefully." She began pacing back and forth while thinking. All the seasons soon waited for her plan to be announced and can all collaborate it together "Well, there's a widowed dairy farmer who's about receive a long awaited reward for her kindness and hard work," said Mother Nature until Autumn gasped. "You mean... We let him grow up in the country?" he asked. "Why not?" asked Mother Nature shrugging her shoulders. "But what about the king and queen just means they won’t see their boy again,” Autumn says "We'll have to explain that it's the only way to make sure their son is safe from Lobo's curse," said Mother Nature, "And not to worry, we'll also be there in disguise as neighbors and fellow farmers." “Wait… You mean… Live as mortals?" Autumn asked "Uh huh," said Mother Nature as she waved her hand and they all appeared in simple clothes befitting for mortal country folk, "And that means no magic while we're raising the prince." "but how are we gonna control our seasons though?" Autumn asked. "We'll take turns going out one at a time and say we're making journeys to the capital for business," said Mother Nature, but Autumn wasn't too keen on the idea of being mortal for 20 long years. "Alright..." Autumn says "Now come along," said Mother Nature heading for the door, "We must tell their majesties at once." they all nodded and would soon agree on the plan And so King Spyro and his queen watched with heavy hearts as their most precious possession, their only child, get placed into the hands of fate. Night had fallen when Widow Tweed pulled into the drive way of her small farm. She was about to go inside when she heard small sound from the truck bed of her truck. she would see the bundle and gasp softly and would look around quickly before picking it up seeing it was a young dragon and she would taking it inside There was also a note attached and it said: "Mrs. Tweed, Please watch over this young dragon and love him always. He must never know of his royal heritage until he reaches 20. You have been so kind and hard working your whole life. It is only fitting that you have your wish for a family come true. Mother Nature" She gasped but nodded softly to herself and would then take him inside and would decide to rename him Nathan. The little dragon was crying when he was found but the moment he felt himself being held in warm, loving arms, he settled down. However, he began whimpering as he was hungry. Soon a bottle would be fed into him as the widow smiles watching him chow down. He began sucking on the bottle but she pulled it away slowly letting him burp a little before continuing to feed him and she hummed a soft lullaby. The seasons watched on with a smile through her window. And the little dragon began growing little by little over the years and he was as kind, handsome and brave. When he was 10 years old, he was outside feeding the chickens when he spotted something orange hidden in the grass next to the fence. He slowly made his way over and gasped as he saw a baby fox kit all alone. It was whimpering softly and sadly. The dragon knelt down to the ground and sat down. "It's alright," he said softly, "Iwon't hurt you. I'm Nathan." “Where’s my mama?” The fox asked softly Nathan looked around seeing no one around. "I'm afraid he's all alone," whispered a voice. The dragon looked up to see an owl looking down sadly at the little fox. The dragon sighed but then smiled. "Would you like to stay with me and my mom?" he asked, "She's very nice. Do you have a name?” "Iwould love that! but I sadly don’t have a name" the fox said sadly "Well... How about... Tod?" asked Nathan as he allowed the little fox to crawl up into the dragon's lap. "Sounds great!" the fox says happily "Tod is a wonderful name sweetie" the owl says happily Nathan smiled as he picked up Tod and presented him to Widow Tweed. The moment she saw Tod's sweet little face, she couldn't refuse her son. So there was another addition to their family. Meanwhile in the underworld, Lobo was overseeing his son's training to become the next grim reaper. The young wolf named Troy was sparring with a couple of demons and hellhounds who could switch between feral and Anthro teaching him proper stances and reversals "A reaper must always be ready for anything and must have no attachments to anything or anyone," said Lobo sternly. “Right dad.” Troy said as he kept on training staying focused Lobo then went back inside the castle and growled turning to a demon. "Any sign of that dragon prince yet?" he growled. “No sir” the demon says Lobo growled and slapped the demon. "Useless!" he snarled, "Get out of my sight and don't come back until you've found him!” “Yes sir…” the demon whimpered as he left After Troy had finished training, he was in his room where a surprise was waiting for him. Crawling out from under his bed was a small feral hound dog puppy. Troy tilted his head and smiled picking up the puppy “why hello there” he said sweetly to the puppy The puppy yipped and happily licked Troy's face. From behind the door, Lobo was watching. Even though he was the grim reaper, he wanted his son to be happy. Troy laughed happily as he was licked by the pup his own tail wagged happily “Do you have a name?” Troy asked the pup "That's for you to decide," said Lobo as he came in, "Do you like him? He's yours." "I love him. Hmmm I think I’ll name him Copper” Troy said Lobo smiled and petted Copper's head. "That's a good name," he said, "But you should know that taking care of a pet means a lot of responsibility." "I know papa. A lot of souls I’ve talked to who had pets gave me tips on how to take care of one properly” Troy smiles "That's good to hear. You'll need that same responsibility to help with judging the dead when the time comes," said Lobo placing a hand on Troy's shoulder. “Sounds good dad” Troy said with a smile Lobo smiled ruffling Troy’s head before leaving. Copper barked and when he was on the ground again, he began sniffing around his new home. Troy smiles watching him explore his new home It was then Copper found one of Troy’s slippers and began chewing and shaking it. The pup had clearly found its first toy. “No no!” Troy said softly yet sternly and would take it from Copper. But the pup wouldn’t have it and they began a tug-of-war. Troy would keep pulling shaking it watching Coppers face flop about as he tried pulling it away At last the slipper came loose from Copper’s mouth when he spotted a pair of socks nearby. However, he was picked up by Troy before he had a chance to sink his little teeth into them. "Idon’t think so little man” Troy laughed “Aww come on! That smelled like a great toy,” complained the puppy giving a sad puppy pout face. “Those are my best socks” Troy said with a laugh “Which makes them the best toys,” complained Copper, “Now how am I supposed to grow up to be a hunting dog?” “I’ll train you with the others who are training me.” Troy said with a smile. “Okay,” sighed Copper when he perked his head up, “Do I get treats?” “Of course you do” Troy said snapping his fingers and a box of treats appeared and gave Copper one The puppy barked happily spinning in a circle and jumped up and down waiting for one. Troy laughs happily giving him a treat Back in Spyro’s kingdom, many sad and lonely years passed for the King and his people. But as the time of the prince’s 20th birthday drew near, the entire kingdom began to rejoice for everyone knew that as long as the entrance to Lobo’s domain Bald Mountain thundered with his wrath and frustration, his evil prophecy had not yet been fulfilled. In the throne room, Lobo was pacing back and forth with thunder booming overhead. Around him was his army of demons and lost souls. “It’s incredible! Twenty years and not a trace of him!” he growled and looked to a commanding demon, “Are you sure you’ve searched everywhere?” “Every nook and cranny of land sire…they must be hiding him him some where good.” The demon say “And what about the towns? The forests? The mountains?” he snarled making the demons shake in fear. “Every rocky cave to the acorn” he shivered “dad!” Troy called out who was grown up now with his grown up dog following loyally beside him to the angry wolf who quickly calmed down “Yes, Troy?” asked Lobo turning to his son, “What is it?” “I’m heading out with I’ll be back by dark” Troy says. “Alright, son,” said Lobo smiling watching his son head out with Copper and then the demon added, “We also searched all the cradles too.” Lobo froze. “Cradle?” he asked slowly turning to look at the demon, “CRADLE?!” They nodded gulping softly Lobo then turned to a vulture sitting on the arm of his throne. "Did you hear that Sauron?" he asked the vulture lifting its beak and letting it slide off his claw tip, "All these years they've been looking for a baby." The wolf started laughing at the thought but grew angry. "Fools!" he shouted raising his sickle making the demons and souls tremble, "Idiots! Imbeciles!" He then slashed the air making lightning burst out of the blade making it strike the wolf's minions. They all disappeared into ashes as the vulture looks at his master as if he was about ready for orders "Out! Out! Out!" roared the wolf angrily before sitting down in his throne, "They're hopeless. A disgrace to the underworld... Sauron, you are my last hope. Circle far and wide. Search for a young male dragon of 20 with scales of sapphire blue and hair as red as a fox. Go and do not fail me." He nods and took off into the sky on his mission Back on the farm, Nathan had grown into a handsome dragon with Tod never leaving dragon's side. On this, his 20th birthday, Widow Tweed, her neighbors Amos and Chief Slade and the seasons were planning something extra special for a surprise. “Why don’t ya go explore Nathan but stay within the forest” Mother Nature said softly who was disguised as a farmer woman. "Okay," said Nathan but gave a knowing smirk as he looked over to his mother, Slade, Chief, Spring and Summer. "And what are you folks up to?" he asked playfully. “Just adult time. Now shoo!” Widow Tweed says shooing Nathan and Tod out. "Alright, Mom," chuckled Nathan as he walked out the door and called, "I'll be home before dark!" Tod followed the dragon out and together they made their way to the forest. Autumn looked out the window. "Do you think he suspects something, mother?" he asked Spring. “Not a thing” Mother Nature laughs softly "Will he be surprised," chuckled the Snow King, who now called himself Jack Frost. "A real birthday party," declared Autumn happily. "With a real birthday cake," added Spring. "Yes, and a suit of clothes a prince can be proud of," replied Summer as he walked over to a closet and pulled out some fabric he had secretly procured since going out on his seasonal duties. “Wait your making the suit gold?” Jack says walking up "Why not?" asked Summer, "It's a royal color after all, and dragons are fond of gold." "I'll get our wands," said Autumn but then everyone stood frozen in horror. "No magic!" said Mother Nature firmly. "But the twenty years are almost over," complained Autumn. "We're taking no chances," confirmed Summer. “Alright.” Autumn says. “Gotta say though you guys have done a good job at protecting the young boy” Chief says "And both you and Amos have been good father figures to him," said Tweed smiling as she, Spring and Mother Nature set to work on baking the cake. "hehe..well he needed a father figures of some sort to toughen him up a bit" Amos says. "And it took him only a few seconds to make you calm down," chuckled Tweed remembering how Nathan managed to trick Amos into setting a rabbit free. "heh..well he is such a sweet kid." Amos added Jack sighed softly. "It seemed only yesterday he first came here," he said but then he began sniffling. "Why Jack," said Spring, "What's the matter?" "After today he'll be a prince... And we won't have any Nathan," whimpered Jack. Spring looked especially hurt. "Oh Mother," she said but the old woman calmed them all down fighting back her own tears. "Now, now. We... we all knew this day had to come," said Mother Nature wiping away a tear, "After all, we've had him for twenty years." "Twenty wonderful years," sniffled Jack. "Indeed. and you all should be proud" Chief says Mother Nature sighed but then cleared her throat. "Good gracious, We’re acting like a lot of ninnies!" she said before ushering Spring and Tweed back into the kitchen, "Come on, he’ll be back before we get started." Summer then brought Jack over and stood him on a stool. "Up here, Jack," he said, "You can be the dummy." The pale human was stunned at the name but he was unsure. He knew Summer had never tailored a suit without magic in his life. "Well, I still say we ought to use magic," said Autumn crossing his arms and turned to Amos and Chief, "Wanna help me with decorations?" Amos nods and smiles nodding and would help him. “well, we will definitely be trying today" Summer says Out in the forest, Nathan was strolling down a path with Tod by his side. The dragon began singing a note that got the attention from a woodpecker, a American goldfinch and Big Mama the owl. However, there was another person walking through the forest who heard the dragon's singing. "Whoa... you hear that, Copper?" Troy asked "If you've heard someone singing, you've heard them all," sighed Copper but stood alert for a moment, "Squirrel!" "you and them damn squirrel reactions, but come on I think we should still check it out" Troy said "Uh uh," said Copper shaking his head, "You know your dad hates it when you're out too long." "you know he will understand." Troy said with a chuckle "Yeah, yeah," groaned Copper, "The answer's still no." However, Troy wasn't the kind to give up and he knew all of Copper's weaknesses. "not even for some extra wet thick dog food.....with biscuits?" Troy asked with a smile Copper froze and whined. "Well... Maybe if I had a scent to follow," he said reluctantly agreeing to the terms. "well concentrate hard and sniff a scent that has never been sniffed before" Troy says Copper sniffed the air. "Hold on... I think I got something," he said sniffing harder. "lets go then!" Troy said smiling following Copper They heard the voice again with Copper leading the way and they thought the found it until something black and white came out and sprayed Troy all over. When Copper sniffed again, he cringed and covered his nose. "Wrong smell," he gagged. "yeah...for that....no biscuits.." Troy says sternly Elsewhere, Nathan and his animal friend walked up to a place that over looked the area and in the distance there was King Spyro's castle. The dragon sighed and walked away from the viewing spot. "Oh boy," he sighed, "Why do they still treat me like a child?" "I'm sure they mean well sweetie. they really love you and just watching out for you" Big Mama says "True," said Nathan sitting by a stream, "Still, they never want me to meet anyone." Then he gave a sly smirk as Tod, Dinky and Boomer came up next. "But you know something?" he asked them, “I fooled them... I have met someone." "Oh yeah? Do tell?" Tod says with a smile "He's a prince," said Nathan, "He's tall, handsome and... And so romantic." "What did you do, huh?" asked Boomer hopping up and down, "What did you do?" "Oh, we walked together and talked together," said Nathan, "And just before we say good bye, he takes me in his arms... And then... I wake up." “Awww such a sad dream" Boomer says “I know," said Nathan nodding, "But they say if you dream a thing more than once it's sure to come true, and I've seen him so many times.” "Maybe it can also be fate?" Tod added in "Maybe," said Nathan as he sat down next to the bottom of a tall tree and let the fox curl up beside him. Dinky sighed wish there was something they could do to cheer him up. He looked over to the side when he saw a cloak being hung to dry on a branch. "Hey, Boomer! Big Mama!" he whispered, "Look over there. I think I've got an idea." They all nodded grinning "gonna have to recruit some help" Big mama says They found two rabbits and invited them to help them with the plan. They were about to take the cloak when they saw a wolf wearing a loincloth stepping out of a river. “I appreciate you trying Copper...but gotta know the difference between a good smell and bad smell... I guess we will never know where that voice came from and who it came from." Troy said sitting on a branch It was then Copper saw Troy's cloak flying through the air and the boots hopping away. He began barking to alert Troy of the runaway clothes. Troy looked quickly and got up chasing after his clothes. “Hey! Come back here!!” Troy yelled as he ran. Once they were closer to Nathan's location, Dinky had Boomer wear the cloak. "Don't worry, Boomer, you'll look great," said the little bird. Then Dinky and Big Mama held up Boomer by holding up either side of the cloak and the rabbits matched stride with the cloak. Nathan was softly humming when he heard Boomer's signature chuckle. He sat up and chuckled, "Why it's my dream prince!" He giggled and bowed singing a tune. "You know I'm really not supposed to speak to strangers," he said to the mock prince, "But we've met before." Then he began singing and dancing just as Troy and Copper caught up to the runaway clothes. "Well I think we found our mystery voice,” Troy said with a chuckle. Nathan was still dancing with the mock prince until the wolf snatched his cloak away and while the dragon wasn't looking, he joined him. Nathan was surprised to hear a new voice singing with him until he saw Boomer inside the cloak looking a little sheepish. He was about to help the woodpecker out when he felt Troy hold his hand. "Oh!" he gasped in surprise seeing a tall, muscular wolf before him looking almost like the prince he had been dreaming about. “Why hello there.” Troy says with a smile “Oh hello,” replied Nathan shyly, “I’m sorry but I don’t usually talk to strangers.” "oh but I'm not a stranger...we have met before remember" Troy smiles “We… We have?” asked Nathan confused while the dragon’s animal friends watched on with interest. "Of course" Troy said as he would start dancing with Nathan singing the same song he was singing before The dragon blushed and danced with the wolf till they came to the same small hill overlooking the kingdom beyond. The dragon snuggled up to Troy and sighed with a sense of belonging. "You know this is always the best view...my dad can always be overprotective...i guess maybe thats why he got me a dog" Troy says “Well, my mother is overprotective of me too… along with all the other neighbors too,” said Nathan looking up at Troy. "My neighbors can be kinda crazy...but they are protective of me as well..but they have to follow my dad’s orders...and my dad has a very short temper" Troy says looking down at his claws gently picking at it “Has he ever told you that he loved you?” asked Nathan as Tod and Copper slowly approached each other and sniffed one another. "all the time. he maybe a hardass he still cares and loves me" Troy said looking down at Copper and Tod "Ithink your dog has taken a liking to Tod,” whispered Nathan when he saw the fox and hound nuzzling each other. "indeed. his name is Copper" Troy said with a smile Nathan smiled and looked up at the sky frowning. "I have to go,” he said getting up and hurrying off with Tod following behind. Troy smiles watching them leave "whatcha think buddy?" Troy asked petting Copper’s head. But Nathan stopped and looked back. “Will you come to my house this evening?” he asked, "I live on the dairy farm down the road.” "Like tonight?" Troy asked “Yes… it’s my 20th birthday today and I want to invite you over to meet my mother,” he said blushing. "heh I don't see why not. like I said my dad maybe an ass but he will understand" Troy said as he walked “See you tonight!” called Nathan as he and Tod hurried home. Meanwhile, things were getting slightly messy and the cake ended up burning. The suit was a mess and the decorations were less than perfect. "oh dear..." Chief says softly and in a worried tone Autumn sighed. “Okay. I think we’ve had enough of this nonsense,” he said marching up the stairs, “I’m getting the wands.” Spring looked to Mother Nature. “You know… I think he’s right,” said Tweed when Autumn came down with the wands in hand. “Here they are,” he called, “Good as new.” Mother Nature grabbed them and hid them close to her "ok we will do this but close up all the windows and block any cracks, we will take no chances" Mother nature says They hurriedly closed all the windows and curtains before resuming their tasks. Jack was given the task of cleaning up. Summer started making the suit while everyone hummed and sang a bit having some fun while they worked Autumn was having the time of his life using his magic to left things and making them dance around the room. Mother Nature smiles as everyone worked to get things going but jack gave a flick of the wrist turning the suit from gold to blue "Not gold," he muttered, "Make it blue." He flicked his wand and Summer gasped. "Jack!" he snapped and waved his wand, "Make it gold." But Jack smirked as he softly waved his wand again and whispered, "Make it blue." Summer growled making it gold and would zap jack with his wand turning his cloths gold Jack gasped looking at himself and then waved his wand turning Summer's clothes and fur blue all over. Jack burst out laughing when he saw his cousin change color until he found himself turned to gold. "Hehe" Summer chuckled and soon found himself dodging blue spells and would return with gold spells as well. Jack was also avoiding the gold spells. However, what everyone forgot to notice was how the magic was escaping through the chimney. Up in the sky a vulture was still searching around till he noticed the flickering and would make his way over to it. He flew closer to see gold dust and blue dust shooting out of a chimney stack. He smirks taking a peak inside only getting blasted by gold and blue dust. Inside, Jack and Summer were still fighting until both their magic hit the suit. "Oh! Summer made the suit gold once more. "Now hide, quick!" he said pulling his wife and Mother Nature into hiding. But Jack sneakily changed it back to blue and would get into hiding as well They all hid when Mother Nature gasped, "Good gracious! Who left the mop running?" Jack gasps softly waving his wand having it go back to its place "Mom. Amos. Chief," called Nathan as he entered looking around, "Where is everybody?" He then gasped when he saw the room and sign that said "Happy Birthday Nathan" and under it was a brand new suit and a beautiful cake. "Surprise!!" everyone called out. "Happy birthday,” Autumn says happily. "Oh, thank you so much," said Nathan hugging each of them, "This is the happiest day of my life. Everything's so wonderful and just wait till you meet him." "Him?" asked Jack freezing in place. "Meet who?" Chief asked as there was a knock on the door suddenly "That must be him," said Nathan smiling hurrying over to the door. When the door opened Troy was standing there with Copper. "Glad I was able to find the place" Troy says. "Come on in," said Nathan holding Troy's paw. "And just where did you meet this young stranger?" asked Amos. "Oh, he's not a stranger," said Nathan, "We've met before." "You have?" asked Autumn surprised, "Where?" "Once upon a dream," sighed Nathan dreamily. "Indeed." Troy says with a smile. "What's your name?" asked Mother Nature sensing this young wolf looked familiar. Troy was already back in all of his clothes while Copper was snuggling up with Tod. “Name's Troy, Ma'am" Troy said politely. Everyone froze and huddled together. "It's Lobo's son," whispered Autumn in the huddle, "What do we do?" "We are gonna have to leave the next day let him have his day" Summer whispers. "But Lobo's curse was supposed to be before sunset on his 20th birthday, and that's today," said Spring. "We're gonna have to bring him back to the castle before sunset," said Mother Nature. "Agreed for now let him have fun." Summer says And after having cake and talking for a little while, Nathan led Troy out promising to invite him over tomorrow. But after Troy left, Lobo's vulture Sauron peaked in listening to the conversation. "Uh... Nathan... There's something we need to tell you," said Jack hesitantly. "And it unfortunately involves Troy" Summer added in "What do you mean?" asked Nathan. "We're taking you home today," said Autumn. "But I'm already home," said Nathan looking to Widow Tweed. "True, but you were born at the palace, dear," said Spring. "But that's impossible," said Nathan, "How could I belong at a palace? I'd have to be-" "A prince," answered Jack. "And you are, dear," said Spring. "Prince Orion," said Mother Nature stunning Sauron outside, "And tonight we're taking you back to your father, King Spyro." "But... But I can't," said Nathan, "Troy's coming back tomorrow... I promised to meet him." Everyone looked at each other with uncertainty. “Should we tell him?” Summer as softly. Mother Nature shook her head. "I'm sorry, dear," she said, "But you mustn't see that young wolf again." Nathan backed away with tears in his eyes before running upstairs to his room. Tod, surprised to see Nathan run out of his own party, hurried after him. Tod would soon follow up to Nathan. “Hey, Nathan." The dragon was laying on his bed with his face in his pillow crying. "Please don't cry, Nathan,” Tod says licking the dragons cheek. "Oh, Tod," sobbed Nathan, "I'm never gonna see him again." "I know how you feel… I feel like I'm not gonna see Copper again" Tod says Nathan hugged the fox. "You love him too, don't you?" he asked softly stroking Tod's head. "Sure do. But I do gotta say that wolf is a hunk. especially while you two were dancing" Tod smiles "I know... He looked at me like... He really loved me," said Nathan thinking back to when he first met Troy. There was a knock on his door and Widow Tweed came in. "Can we talk honey?" Tweed asked Nathan sniffled and nodded sitting up letting the woman sit next to him. "You know we are only doing this for the sake of your safety..." She says "But I feel safe here with you," said Nathan looking up at the only woman who had been his mother his entire life. "Well you will be even safer back with your parents" she says holding his hand "Will I get to see you again?" asked Nathan snuggling up to the old woman who held him close. He couldn't see it, but he knew Widow Tweed was shedding tears of her own. “Of course sweetheart. I will always love you and make visits when I can” she would say “I love you too," he whimpered softly. And later before sunset, Nathan was dressed in his new suit and Widow Tweed would drive him and Tod all the way to the palace. Tod would rest his head on Nathan’s leg Once they arrived at the palace, the four seasons snuck the prince inside for they didn't want anyone to know he was there until after sunset. The dragon was led to a lavish bedroom where he was sat down at a table. Tod sat beside him loyally. “So, where are we?” He asked "We're in King Spyro's castle," said Autumn softly to Tod. "There's one last gift we have for you," said Mother Nature as she and the other seasons created a golden crown and placed it upon Nathan's head. But the dragon was still heartbroken about never seeing Troy again and leaned over the table sobbing. “Oh, honey. Please don’t cry,” Mother Nature says softly "Why don't we give him a few moments alone," said Widow Tweed softly as she led Mother Nature and the four seasons out. Amos and Chief were just outside the door. Amos had taken off his hat. "It's that wolf he met, isn't it?" he asked softly. “It is…he…is the grim reapers son…” summer says Nathan was still crying with Tod curled up by his side when a soft voice called out to him, "Orion! Orion!" Nathan slowly lifted his head and saw a glowing red orb floating in the fire place. He sat perfectly still without blinking his eyes like he was in a trance. He slowly got up and walked toward the light. “Isn’t there anything we can do for him?” Chief asked "I'm not sure if there is," sighed Amos rubbing the back of his neck. Inside his room, Nathan was walking towards the orb when suddenly, the back of the fireplace vanished to reveal a secret passage way. Tod tried to stop him but it was no use. He hurried to the door and started scratching for attention on the other side. Outside the room, Spring looked to Summer and said, "Maybe we should allow Troy to know-" "Listen!" said Mother Nature when she heard the voice and gasped, "Lobo! Nathan!” Soon everyone began searching for Nathan. They burst into his room and gasped when they saw Nathan walking away into a dark passage following the glowing orb. They were about to follow him when the back of the fireplace reappeared blocking their way. Tod ran up digging at the wall whimpering to get to Nathan. “Split it up search for him!” Amos says But Mother Nature looked to where Tod was. "Over here!" she yelled and made the back of the fireplace disappear, "Hurry!" They all rushed through to see several paths. "Nathan! Nathan, where are you?!" they all called out, but Tod had Nathan's scent. Meanwhile, Nathan followed the orb up a flight of stairs to an abandoned tower room. Soon the orb eventually made its way into the room and would turn into a black rose bush. Nathan slowly reached out to touch it when he heard Mother Nature's voice ring out, "Don't touch anything!" The dragon pulled his hand back, but another voice called out and it was darker and deeper. "Touch the rose," he said, "Touch it, I say!" Nathan slowly reached out and as he wrapped his fingers around the stem, he pricked his finger and the room was filled with a bright red glow. Mother Nature and the other seasons burst in but stopped in their tracks when they met face to face with the Grim Reaper himself. "You poor, simple fools! Thinking you could beat me? Me?! The master of all life and death?" he growled and held the edge of his cloak, "Well, here's your precious prince!" He pulled it back to reveal Nathan's body on the floor fast asleep. Lobo cackled as he disappeared from the room with his laughter still resounding before it faded away with the rest of him. “We were too late!!” Summer whimpers out falling to his knees Mother Nature knelt down next to Nathan covering her mouth. "I'll never forgive myself," she sobbed. Everyone came in horrified and then shedding tears. Meanwhile Troy had been walking back inside his home happy as he could be but he couldn’t find his dad anywhere so he made himself a snack and headed to his room “I’m glad we met our guys today. Can tell you and Tod got along greatly” Troy said Copper blushed bright red. It was then they heard cheers and shouting from the throne room. There was a bonfire out in the courtyard and all the demons and souls were dancing around. Lobo stood watching them with a smirk of triumph on his face. “Wonder what they are all celebrating about” Troy says Lobo was looking over his forces while stroking Sauron's back. "Iwonder if Troy knows yet about his mysterious friend," chuckled Lobo with a smirk. “What are you celebrating dad?” Troy asked walking up to them "Ah, Troy," chuckled Lobo, "Nothing much. Just celebrating a little victory in making a prophecy come true... One concerning a certain Prince Orion." “Prince Orion? That dragon you been obsessed with the past years?” Troy asked "The very same. And now he's been dealt with... For good," chuckled Lobo and looked to his son, "And what about you?" “Met a new friend and was able to hang out with him and his pet fox and they were really fun and cool” Troy said with a smile "A new friend?" asked Lobo arching an eyebrow, "And what did he look like?" Troy thinks a bit and would describe the dragon his tone slowing down a bit as he comes to realization it’s lining up to the same dragon his father was obsessed with Lobo then realized Troy had fallen for the prince and he didn't know who he was. He snapped his fingers and two shadow creatures grabbed the young wolf. "Take him to his chambers and seal it so he doesn't leave," he said firmly, "But be gentle with him... I want to have a long talk with my son." Troy quietly followed his escorts and would sit on the bed still in disbelief Meanwhile, the seasons and Mother Nature laid Nathan to rest at the top of the tallest tower in the castle. Amos and Chief were doing their best to comfort Widow Tweed who was heartbroken. Mother Nature took the fall harder than most walking out onto the balcony. "Poor King Spyro... And the queen," sighed Spring, "They'll be heartbroken when they find out." But Mother Nature stood upright again wiping away her own tears. "They're not going to," she said, "We'll put them all to sleep until Nathan awakens.” “Do it” Summer says Mother Nature nodded and she first put Tod, Amos, Tweed and Chief to sleep first. Then she and the other seasons went out through the entire castle putting everyone under a deep sleep. Tod on the other hand had been hiding so he didn’t get put under the spell and would huff softly and made his way out and would head out to search for Troy Autumn spotted Tod and stopped him. “Just where do you think you’re going?” he asked the squirming fox. “I’m going to tell Troy he needs to know” Tod says “But he lives in the underworld and the only way in is either dying or sneaking in through the entrance at the top of Bald Mountain,” replied Summer as he came up. “I’m a fox. I’m good at sneaking in.” Tod says “It will be dangerous,” said Autumn. “That’s why we’re going with you,” added Mother Nature, “Right now, Troy is our only hope of awakening Nathan.” “Let’s get moving then” Tod says with a confident huff “Me and the boys will keep an eye on things here,” said Big Mama flying down to Tod, “Just be careful up there, honey.” "Iwill big mama” Tod says licking her cheek before leading the seasons off to the underworld. Meanwhile Troy was laying in bed with Copper snuggled up against him trying to comfort the wolf. Troy sees this smiling softly petting his head softly After a while, Lobo came in. “So want to tell me who you were with this afternoon?” He asked crossing his arms. "The same dragon you were obsessed with, yeah don't think I have been hearing it" Troy says sitting up “So you’ve heard?” asked Lobo and then waved a hand over his sickle blade and in it, Troy could see Nathan was in his new clothes and a crown but he was fast asleep. “Behold King Spyro’s castle,” he said, “And in the top of the tallest tower dreaming of true love is Prince Orion.” "His name is Nathan" Troy said “Yes, but that was before the seasons told him who he really was,” said Lobo, “And now, he’ll sleep for all eternity.” "All of this over them not inviting you to a party?" Troy asked with a snarl “Well, yes… And for not attending your presentation as my heir,” replied Lobo and smirked, “A lot of good it did them for try to stop fate. True love conquers all? I don’t think so! Now the prince is no more and all is right with the world… And it’s time you focus more on being the next grim reaper and be as heartless and cruel as I am. "Always an asshole… he was the exception to stay" Troy said to himself Meanwhile, the seasons flew themselves and Tod to the top of Bald Mountain. They quickly hid as they saw a giant demon sitting on the top with its wings covering his body making him look like the rock around him. "The Chernabog," whispered Autumn to Tod, "He's the one who guards the entrance. If we want to get through the entrance, we'll have to be very quiet." "Shrink down and hop on and hold on" Tod whispered The four seasons nodded and Mother Nature did so as they all shrank down and hopped onto Tod's back. soon Tod sneaked and snaked around to get around the Chernabog Getting in was a cinch, but Tod soon realized that finding Copper and Troy would be trickier for all around there was every kind of nightmarish creature imaginable. "Whoa....this place sure is spooky" Tod says "Yeah, and this is just the outside of Lobo's castle," muttered Autumn, "Inside is worse... Much worse." It was then Tod saw another fox but realized it was a ghost fox. "what the?" Tod says looking at the ghost tilting his head curiously "Don't be afraid, my son," she said softly. “M-Mom?” he asked softly "Hello, dear," she said nuzzling Tod affectionately, "I'm sorry I had to leave you when you were young." “No, I understand… I'm sure it was for good reasons" he says "But I'm glad you grew up surrounded by love," she said, "And in return, I will help you find your true love." "I'm also looking for a friend that can help. his name is Troy" Tod says “I know him," said the vixen, "Find Copper and he will help you find Troy." "Where is Copper? He’s.... my true love" Tod says "Follow me," said the ghost vixen leading the group to what looked like a kennel full of hellhounds and the occasional three-headed Cerberus. "wow this place is crazy" Tod says looking around Copper, who had been resting his head on his paws perked his head up sniffing. Soon he saw a ghost vixen being followed by a fox "Tod! what are you doing here??" Copper asked standing up "Came to get you out," whispered Tod as Summer floated up to the lock on Copper's kennel. He shot a hot sunbeam upon the metal and at once, it broke. "we need to get Troy busted out of here." Copper says "Lobo has him locked in his room" he added "And we'll get him out," said Mother Nature, "Lead the way." Copper nods then licks Tod's cheek “I thought I would never see you again" Copper said “I love you," whispered Tod kissing his hound lover. “I love you too." Copper said kissing him back soon leading the way to Troy's room However, Lobo's vulture Sauron was keeping an eye out and for any intruders and he thought he saw movement. Everyone hid from him as he resumed looking about "how we gonna get passed him?" Summer asked “I have an idea," said Tod lifting a paw and pointing at some baskets nearby. "Go for it, babe" Copper says softly Tod then moved along the sides and grabbed a basket big enough to slip Copper and himself under. "Okay," whispered Tod, "Now, let's see you put that sniffer to use." Copper would get busy sniffing about while also sneaking past the vulture Before long, they found Troy's room locked and Mother Nature shrunk Copper and Tod small enough so they could slip under the door and resume their normal size. Before Troy could say anything, Mother Nature shushed him. "No time to explain," she said while Summer worked on melting the door lock on Troy's side. Troy nodded sneaking them all out clear from the castle "such a good boy you are Copper" Troy said hugging Copper tightly However, Sauron spotted them and the vulture cawed loudly sounding an alarm. "RUN!" yelled Summer as several demons came rushing in towards them. they all took off running when Troy whistled out but the whistle was silent and no one heard it which confused them all "that whistle can only be heard by only one 6 pairs of ears" Troy said as they ran "Six pairs?" asked Jack confused when he saw Sauron still screeching the alarm. "I'll be right back," he said as he chased after the vulture shooting ice at him. soon they were able to stop at a good place and Troy did another silent whistle to update their location and soon a large black cerberus with sharp teeth and claws his eyes glowing red and Troy smiled as the others scooted a bit back in fear "its all good guys. Fluffy is a very loyal cerberus, and very super friendly" Troy said petting his most trusted loyal demon dog At the same time, Jack kept shooting snow and ice at the vulture and every time it would dodge each attack. "Alright, you bald turkey! You asked for it!" growled Jack as he gave chase after the bird. The bird kept flying around trying his hardest to escape jack but soon got frozen in place and caught up to the others Unfortunately, the vulture was frozen on a balcony right outside Lobo's bed chambers. The white wolf stormed out and held up his sickle. "Silence!" he bellowed and turned to Sauron, "You! Tell those fools to-" But he stopped realizing the vulture was frozen. He looked out over the underworld to see Troy on Fluffy followed by Mother Nature and the four seasons. "NO!" he roared angrily. "guys we need to get to Nathan. but all my battle gear is inside the castle" Troy said getting to a safe spot with the others "We can help replace your armor," said Mother Nature and she waved her wand making a sword and shield appear in Troy's hands, "This sword of light and shield of nature will help you triumph over evil. Now come! We have to hurry." "Right" Troy said as he remounted onto Fluffy and Tod and Copper hopped on and soon they all rode off to the castle But when they reached the exit, the Chernabog was awake and reaching out to grab Troy. "Watch out!" yelled Autumn as he and the others dodged the giant's hands. Troy swiped at it with his sword and would keep riding along with fluffy going faster As for Lobo, he emerged on the top of the mountain and walked to a tower watching his son run down the mountain. He waved his sickle and made lightning strike the sides of the mountain to start an avalanche. "Avalanche!!" Copper yelled out Jack Frost then created a tunnel made of ice that covered the path entirely. They soon raced through the tunnel getting clear of the avalanche Lobo snarled angrily and started chanting, "A forest of thorns shall be his tomb. Born through the skies on a fog of doom! Now, go with the curse and serve me well! 'Round Spyro’s castle, cast my spell!" Clouds began forming and then surrounded the castle making lightning strike the ground and wherever it hit, a huge, thick wall of thorns would emerge and surround the castle. Soon Troy would be greeted by it using his sword to chop his way through it He was just approaching the castle when Lobo suddenly appeared engulfed in red fire. "I'm giving you this one last chance to turn back, Troy," he snarled, “I don't want to lose the only son I have to some mortal dragon." Troy huffs angrily "no father! I choose to be what I want and I want to live my own life and not to be controlled by someone who can’t let things go" Troy said "So... You choose to accept death the natural way, do you?" snarled Lobo growing angry making Fluffy whimper nervously, “I still won't let you near the prince. If you want him, you'll have to deal with me and all the powers of HELL!" He then burst into fire laughing evilly as his body grew bigger and his cloak became wings and from his shoulders two more heads grew out. When the fire died down, there stood a giant cerberus with dragon scales, wings and a tail. The three heads snarled at Troy before breathing fire at him. They all gasped loudly but Troy used his shield to block the fire But the force of the fire breath knocked the wolf off Fluffy and the draconic beast breathed fire at him again forcing Troy into the thorns. Troy would slash at the thorns to make his way to the rock face However, it was a bit of a slow process and worse still was when Lobo lifted all three of his heads and set all the thorns ablaze! Troy gasped loudly as the flames approached him "Up this way!" yelled Tod as he climbed a few rocks with Copper to a high cliff face where the three wolf heads snapped at Troy. Troy soon quickly climbed up the rock face But he wasn't the only one as Lobo managed to corner his own son against the edge and with one breath of fire knocking the shield away. "One last chance, boy," snarled the three heads together, "Either return to your real home... Or lose to the father who loved and raised you.” “I’m not going home!” Troy growled gripping his sword tightly Then Troy heard Mother Nature casting a spell making the sword glow: "Now, Sword of Light, fly swift and sure. Let evil die and good endure!" Lobo snarled as he got ready to deliver a final blow to his son. Troy growled and threw his sword into lobos chest impaling the Cerberus dragon hybrid The beast howled in pain before falling forward and falling off the cliff landing in the burning thorns. When the fire died down and the smoke cleared, Troy could see his father with the sword in his chest. He was gasping and coughing up blood. Troy then slides down to him and walks up to him Lobo coughed looking up at his son. "Seems I've taught you... Too well," he croaked, "You... You probably hate me right now.” "I don’t hate you....but you need to stop being heartless. why cant you be caring and loving like what you are to me" Troy says "Because I was afraid I'd lose you... Like I lost your mother... I was afraid... Of being hurt," he coughed. "you wouldn’t of lost me dad... but you just need to have better compassion" Troy Says "I'm sorry... I should've let you live your life," gasped Lobo as he started to turn to dust, "Perhaps I'll see you... Another day... I love you son." “I love you too dad” Troy says "And... You have my blessing for the prince... My revenge... Is no more," whispered Lobo before turning to dust and with him all the thorns disappeared. "so he returned to the underworld right?" Troy asked curiously "Yes," said Mother Nature, "But now I think he's a little wiser about how powerful love can be." "Speaking of which, let's get going," persisted Tod as he tugged on Troy's tail pulling him towards the palace. Troy nodded remounting Fluffy and would ride to the castle When they arrived, Troy was surprised to see every single person within the palace walls was fast asleep. Tod ran ahead leading Troy up a flight of stairs to the tallest tower where Nathan was laid to rest. "There he is" Troy said seeing the sleeping Nathan Big Mama was there along with Dinky and Boomer. "Only true love's kiss can wake him," whispered Mother Nature to the wolf, "The question is... Do you love him?" "of course I do...even I just met him I love him" Troy says "Then what are you waiting for?" asked Autumn, "Just kiss him already!" Troy nods and would gently kiss Nathan on the lips When their lips parted, Nathan's eyes slowly fluttered open and he smiled when he saw Troy standing before him. "I knew you were the prince of my dreams," he said sitting up and kissing Troy in return. Just then, they heard yawning and over to the side, Widow Tweed, Amos Slade and Chief woke up. Troy smiles big seeing them wake up And all over the palace, everyone was starting to wake up. "I think I'm ready to meet my real parents now," said Nathan softly and looked up at Troy, "Will you meet them with me?" “You bet” Troy said with a smile In the throne room, King Spyro yawned and looked to his queen. "What happened?" he asked, "How long were we asleep?" Just then, a fanfare sounded and descending a grand staircase was a tall wolf with red highlights in his fur with a blue dragon linking his arm. "It's Orion! He's here!" gasped Spyro as the couple approached and Nathan hurried over to his real parents. Cynder hugged her son tightly crying tears of joy. Troy smiles watching on as copper sat beside Troy loyally as Tod sits beside copper resting against him. Nathan then led his father over to Troy. "And this is Troy... My true love," he said looking over to the wolf. Sir.” Troy said bowing respectfully to Spyro "I thank you for saving my son," said the king, "And you really do care about my son?" “Yes sir” Troy said Spyro smiled and turned to Widow Tweed who came up and curtsied. "I want to thank you for raising our son for all these years," he said bowing to the old woman. “I’m happy to have helped my neighbor had some pitching in he helped with too” she says "Then I thank you as well, good sirs," said Spyro smiling as Chief pulled Amos close and kissed the human's cheek. Then they heard music starting and watched as Nathan and Troy danced together. Troy smiles big wagging happily as they danced everyone watching on as summer sighed happily and gasped “blue!” He gasped and huffed “gold” he said turning the suit gold But Jack also changed the suit back to blue. Nathan looked down at his suit but chuckled shaking his head as he kept on dancing with Troy. “Looks like they are bickering about the color of your suit” Troy chuckled "Let them," replied Nathan softly, "I have something even better." He then leaned in and kissed Troy's lips. Troy kisses back wagging happily more And later that day, when everyone had retired to bed for the night, Nathan was in his new room with Troy by his side. "It looks bigger than I thought it would," he said looking around. “Indeed.” Troy said with a smile "But with you here, I feel like I can face tomorrow again," said Nathan softly, "Will you stay? Be my mate?" “I thought I already was” Troy chuckles happily Nathan chuckled as he started kissing the wolf but it was much deeper and he felt them both drifting towards the bed.
