Wow... here we are again on April 1st and what better way to celebrate it than with another post of the Cohen-Kline Icosahedron!

Our protagonist is a 19 year old college student named Kaiden Wilson, a Unity Programme graduate from Vancouver British Columbia, and the odd situation in which he is put thanks to a discovery of yet more versions of earth in the rapidly expanding multiple-reality-stretching world in which this story series takes place. Unlike on many other Earths, Plateau Earth places one visiting student with seven natives. The Viddin, as they call themselves are divided into multiple categories based on species, and overworked, over-utilized has one of each.

Things start out with a heartfelt discussion between Kaiden and Prirn, which was a long time coming. After that, Kaiden has a bit of a realization that life will change soon, and that makes him take stock of what is really important and where his life is going.

This story started as a spin-off purely as a joke, yet it quickly developed a following and is now a canon addition to the Other Earths series. That being said, this is still several books away from where I am currently writing with Book 2 having just finished.

As always, thank you for reading, and I appreciate all the comments and favs I receive. Cohen Icosahedron will be book 6 in the series, so, if there ISN'T a resurgence of interest it'll still be awhile til we get back to Cohen-Kline Icosahedron, but hopefully you will all hang in there and enjoy the path that will lead us back to it!

The Cohen-Kline Icosahedron Chapter 16 copyright comidacomida 2026 Following after Prirn felt strangely ominious; the Viddinur rarely if ever bothered discussing anything in private that he couldn't just as easily express in public. Kaiden waited patiently as Prirn stepped on the talon-activated switch for opening the door and went in after him, trying to start some kind of dialogue. "We missed you on the field trip." The Viddinur paused, glancing back over his shoulder; Prirn's beak quirked into a warm acknowledgement. "I missed everyone as well." That was it as far as the interaction was concerned; the dog-sized Viddin proceeded across the living room and headed down the hall. Kaiden realized at that moment that they were heading to Prirn's room and, for almost a full two seconds he was relieved to think that perhaps the Viddinur just wanted some 'cuddle time', but that idea went right out the window when he had those few seconds to consider that Prirn was always willing to socially broadcast his intentions in that manner, and the apprehension returned. Whatever it was, Kaiden could tell it was important; Prirn almost never required a private discussion. Judging from the viddin's body posture and the way he held his wings, the Human was willing to bed that it was going to be an uncomfortable conversation; Prirn always kept his wings only half-furled when he was uncomfortable, and they were definitely not laying flat. That made the Human even more concerned. Prirn finally arrived at his door, which was alredy half ajar so he bumped it with his head and stepped inside, lingering near the entrance so he could speak over his shoulder. "Come on in, Kawikikik." Doing as requested, Kaiden followed Prirn in. Once they were both inside the Viddin moved over to a lounging sofa and hopped up onto it. He circled once, and then carefully positioned himself to leave a large portion still open. Prirn patted it with his talon, offering what looked like a reassuring smile. " Why are you all the way over there?" Kaiden made his way over and slowly took a seat. He leaned back against the wall that was behind the lounging sofa and his arm reached out absently for Prirn; whatever the Viddin had to discuss couldn't have been all that bad since a feathery head found its way to his palm, and Prirn let out a contented purr as the Human's fingers began working their way through the Viddin's cowl. Offering a slightly uncomfortable laugh, Kaiden got to the point. "The whole way you approached wanting to talk to me in the private kinda... freaked me out a little, Prirn." His companion let out a faint squawk and then shook his head as if doing a complete mental reset. "I, uh... wha? Oh... OH! Oh, Khwah! Sorry, Kaiden. I didn't mean to worry you, I've just... got a lot on my mind." The candid comment immediately helped Kaiden to calm down; he felt the tenseness leave his body and, after taking a deep, steadying breath, he smiled, increasing the pressure he was using to rub through his companion's feathery cowl. "That's okay-- It's mostly my own falt for always overanalyzing things... but, anyway, we're here now, aren't we? So what is it you wanted to discuss?" The quirky smile on Prirn's beak faded, and the Viddin swallowed audibly before saying quietly. "I... well... first, I wanted to thank you for letting me stay home. I know I really would have enjoyed going on the outing with everyone, but--" The Human smirked, moving his hand down to caress Prirn's feathery neck. "I know... you really wanted to know if there was anything there with the Human tutor leading one of the other Roosts." He leaned a little closer, asking in a chidingly insistent manner, "Weeeeeellll? Was there?" Prirn squawked out a chuckle, headbutting Kaiden in the arm with his head even as he reached out and rested a talon on the Human's leg; it was a familiar, intimate, meaningful gesture. "Yes. There was." Kaiden sat up a little straighter; he'd known Prirn to often be flighty and hadn't really thought that anything would come of it. "Oh?" The viddin bobbed his head up and down. "Yes. I... really like Nneka, and it seems that she really likes me. That's what I wanted to discuss." Any lingering concerns or worry left Kaiden and a smile spread across his face. "Really? That's great, Prirn!" Prirn did a double-check. "That... I mean... you--" he paused and started again, his beak resetting as if words were coming out without his brain's approval. "You do not mind that I like her?" Laughing, Kaiden leaned over and gave his companion a big hug around the neck. "Why would I mind? That's amazing news, Prirn! Especially since it seems to you that she likes you back. Why wouldn't that be good news?" The Viddinur blinked, feathers on his cheek puffing out. "I... was worried that you might be jealous." The Human smiled. "Okay... well... I guess that's a fair concern... but, no. I'm not jealous! I'm glad for you. I mean, I know Viddin sometimes have trouble with stuff like this-- heck, I guess some Humans do too, but, no; this is really cool!" Prirn's feathers finally folded down against his back. "Really?" Kaiden out-and-out laughed again, giving Prirn another hug and he was pleased to feel his companion's wing wrap around him in reciprocity. Letting out a relaxed sigh, the Human offered a faintly stronger squeeze before disengaging. "Prirn... if Nneka makes you happy then that makes me happy. We already covered this before... right?" The Viddin rotated his head, one eye nearly over the other. "We... did?" The Human nodded, stroking Prirn's neck feathers. "You never called me 'Takket'... and, even if you would have, I think it's been pretty well established that I have a LOT of Viddin who want to Hu'stook, so I couldn't rightly expect to keep you all to myself in either case, now could I?" Prirn's head returned to its normal orientation and his feathers puffed out even more. "No... I suppose that makes sense... so... you really don't mind?" Rolling his eyes, Kaiden poked the Viddin's beak with his index finger. "No. Just as long as you don't plan on leaving our group." Nipping playfully at the Human's digit, Prirn squawked out a negative answer in the Viddin tongue before repeating in English. "No. I am going to stay a part of the Roost as long as you want me." Kaiden nodded with finality. "Good... then that solves it: you're not getting rid of me until we're done with this semester." The confirmation on both their parts seemed to do Prirn just as much good as Kaiden felt it did for himself and he ended up leaning against his companion even as the Viddin leaned against him. A long stretch of silence followed and Kaiden reveled in the presence of the Viddinur, enjoying the soft, droning purr that came from him punctuated by the strong heartbeat that the Human could hear due to the way his ear rested against Prirn's neck. It was Prirn who ultimately spoke next. "You're still my Kawkikikik, you know." The simple statement made Kaiden smile anew. "Good. You're still mine too." The next almost-hour was spent listening to Prirn wax poetic about the many things he appreciated about Nneka, talking about her intellect, her sense of humor, the meal that she cooked for them both, the fact that she wanted a huge family-- a discussion followed about whether she was open to having Viddin offspring or not, and Prirn was all too happy to explain that they discussed that very same question and, in fact, she didn't seem to mind the idea one bit if the right Viddinur came along. That statement caught Kaiden's attention. "Did she say Viddin, or ViddinUR?" Prirn's beak parted in a grin. "She said Viddinur... and then she confirmed it. We used protection though. She wants to finish her time at the Centre before committing to starting a family." It was probably the most subtle he'd ever heard a Viddin discuss sex, and that helped Kaiden realize just how serious things were getting. "That's great, Prirn. It sounds like you've figured out what direction things are going for you after we're done with the semester. I'm glad!" The Viddinur rested his head against Kaiden's arm. "I did, and I am also happy, Kaiden. For awhile I wasn't sure what I would be doing since I have to return to Plateau Earth, but Nneka already has transfer papers that will let her go with me." That honestly caught Kaiden by surprise. "She's going with?" Prirn's head bobbed up and down. "She is, yes. I know it is sudden, but this is what we both want, and it is something we can both have. I am looking forward to introducing her to my family." Kaiden still remembered meeting them for the first time on the day that the Roost departed to Land Earth. He smirked. "I hope she knows what she's getting herself into." The Viddinur beamed visibly. "We will face it together." The Human nodded, thinking to the coming end to the class year and realizing that he would also not be facing it alone. "Yeah... that's the best way." * * * * * The Roost met up for dinner that night and the meal, prepared mostly by Zithing and Hassag, was dished out to everyone; the Ilsit ate with them as well while the Roost caught Prirn up on all of the happenings. The chorus of Viddin voices speaking over one another to relate the experience of the airforce base and the hot springs and the glide back down the mountain was all background noise to Kaiden, whose mind had started to wander to the end of the semester and what would be the end of his time with his Roost as part of a class. He was so caught up in his own thoughts that a gentle bump of a beak from Sokkas by his side caught him completely unaware. The Viddinich spoke softly in English, for his ears alone as the rest of the Roost continued squawking. "Something is wrong, isn't it?" Kaiden reached out and gently stroked Sokkas' nearest wing. "No... just thinking." He was surprised when the entire Roost went silent at the same time. Lookig up from his plate he saw all eyes on him. A chorus of voices spoke up over one another, asking what it was that Sokkas had just inquired about, all using a variation of "What's wrong?", "Is something wrong?", or "Are you alright?" It had been some time since he'd seriously considered it, but, as he'd heard Prirn discuss his plans post-classes, the thought had continued to gnaw on him. "I... think I'm going to Saurian Earth once classes are over." Kytskir was quick with congratulations; Hahn suggested it was probably because of a 'favor' he'd paid to the Holruk (earning him a wing buffet to his head by Vetlyk; Tral lamented that it meant that they'd have to experience time apart; Nittik chirped and squawked happily about that being a big honor for a Human-- it was all a bit much. Uncertain over what he was feeling or why his eyes were suddenly watering, he cleared his throat, setting his napkin down as he left the table. "Please excuse me." Kaiden fled back to his bedroom, stumbling from the door to his bed due to his eyes being full of tears. He didn't sob, per se, and he didn't cry-- not REALLY, but the tears kept coming unabated, and he couldn't figure out why. The emotions were too complex for him to name, but he found himself overwhelmed in the moment, uncertain how to think, let alone what to think. It was several moments before he heard the sound of Viddin squawking outside his door. He missed most of what was said, but he recognized Vetlyk, Sokkas, and Tral's voices; the first two seemed to be berating the third and, just when Kaiden was about to speak up, the voices stopped, and a soft tap-tap of the curve of a talon against his door signaled that at least one of them wanted his attention. It was Sokkas who spoke up. "Siika'im... Vetlyk and I are here... may we come in?" Any frustration the Human might have felt at being interrupted as he tried to sort through the tempest of his thoughts was banished the moment he heard Sokkas call him his 'little light'. The Viddinich NEVER used any kind of pet name in front of others and yet he did so in the company of both Vetlyk AND Tral-- they must have been worried about him. Wiping away the streaks of tears from his cheeks and clearing his throat, Kaiden called out. "W-what? Do you... need something?" Vetlyk's voice came next. "Takket... Kuutyr-- you left the table abruptly. We are here to check on you." Tral called to him next. "Are you sick? Do you need some ulkulk?" Kaiden, despite his emotionally fragile state, very nearly smirked at the fledgeling-like word the Viddinire used to refer to medicine; it was obviously an attempt to come across as caring, but it was as awkwardly executed as most of his social undertakings. Still, Kaiden ended up smiling... but only for a moment. "No... it's okay." He paused for a moment, addressing Sokkas' original question. "Yes... you can come in." The three moved in what almost seemed like practiced unison; Vetlyk hopped up onto Kaiden's bed and slipped behind him, settling down so that the Human could lean back against the Viddin's side; Tral flopped down onto the floor, all except for his head, which rested on Kaiden's right thing and across his lap; Sokkas also hopped up onto the bed, nimbly circling once before laying down so that his head rested aginst Kaiden's left thigh, occuping what small part of the Human's lap Tral's head didn't. None of them said a word. A long time passed before someone spoke up, and it was Kaiden, actively choosing to break the silence once he finally got a hold of his tumultuous thoughts. "I can't believe how fast our time here on Land Earth passed... we only have about five weeks left." Tral bumped Kaiden's hand with his beak. "It feels like we just got here. You made the time go quickly, Kaiden'huu." Sokkas put words to what Kaiden hadn't been able to articulate. "Now that the Roost's time together is coming to a close, you do not feel entirely ready for what is next." Letting out a long, deep breath, Kaiden slowly nodded, closing his eyes as he leaned back against Vetlyk. "Yeah... I think that's a big part of it. I mean... I'm gonna miss everyone, and any time there's change it can be a little scary but, mostly... well... I'm thinking about what the Director said, and how she wants me to go to Saurian Earth." Tral lifted his head up slowly. "Do you not want to go? Just tell her no." Kaiden smiled at the straight-forward perspective. "It's not like that-- I mean, I don't THINK it is. I DO want to go... I just really haven't thought about it. I never even realized it was an option until she sprang it on me back at the Gateway and I've been so busy since then that I haven't given it a lot of thought." Sokkas turned his head to the side, rubbing the top of it against Kaiden's sternum comfortingly. "Whatever you choose to do, Siika'im, I will support you. If you go, I will wait for you. If you stay, I will be wherever you are." Vetlyk was a little more realistic. "If he is here on Land Earth you will need to get approval to stay." The Viddinich's beak made it easy for him to scowl. Rather than object to Vetlyk's assessment, he revised his statement. "You can come with us to Plateau Earth, or I will get a license so I can live here with you." Tral gave Sokkas' beak a gentle bump with his own in Kaiden's lap. "I like how you said that he can come with 'us'... good Hu'stook, Sokkas." Silence prevailed for a short span of time until Vetlyk stated "Kaiden... Takket... Haklys will be returning to Saurian Earth with the next group to leave. If you go, you will be going with him, and if that happens then I will get approval from my father to go with as well." Tral clacked his beat. "Oh. Yeah. Can you check with him to see if we can get permission to go with you t-- OW!" He was interrupted then fell silent when Sokkas pulled out one of his feathers with his beak. Sokkas spit it out, then laid is head back into Kaiden's lap. "Kaiden'huu... I know that I will wait for you to finish your time on Saurian Earth, and I have no doubt that Tral will as well, if he needs to." The Viddinire raised his head; even on the floor his eyes were level with Kaiden's. "I don't want to HAVE to... but I will. Definitely." The Viddinich continued. "This is an amazing opportunity for you, and I cannot think of any Human who would be more worthy of the opportunity. If the Director asked for you then it means she agrees with me." <<<>>> Vetlyk let out a faint derisive squawk. "Or YOU agree with HER." Sokkas continued, unabated, as if he hadn't been interrupted. "I want you in my life, Kaiden Wilson... Siika'im... Kur'im. I know that you will have Vetlyk's chicks first... but I want you to have mine as well. You are my Takket, and I want you as the Koltyr of my offspring." Kaiden felt the tears start up again, but for a much better reason. He couldn't help but smile as he said "I can imagine that Rannyl would be an AMAZING grand-sire." The black-furred Viddinich scowled with mock indignation. "You just had to go and ruin a perfectly good moment, you silly Zvelt." Tral leaned forward, pressing his forehead to Kaiden's. "If you still want more chicks after both of these two, I hope that we can both enjoy putting more in you together." A voice from beyond Kaiden's bedroom door spoke up. "Wow... really classy there, Tral." The Viddinire stood up immediately, charging the door as he squawked at Nittik. "Nittik, au huktji karukt chitgiss!" Sokkas sighed, standing and stretching before hopping off the bed. "I am going to make sure no one dies..." He trotted toward the door, settling down his wings before pausing to look back at Kaiden. "I would still like your help patching up my dye tomorrow... if you'd have me." The Human smiled. "I look forward to it, Sokkas..." before the Viddinich fully departed, he added "...and your chicks... eventually." One everyone had left, Kaiden stood, moved across the room, and shut the door. He then returned to join Vetlyk on the bed. Rather than lean back against him as if he were a cushion, the Human instead laid down beside him, spreading himself out so that his back rested against the Viddin's chest. Vetlyk gentl wrapped a talon around him, pulling the young man into his grasp before gently touching the back of Kaiden's head with the bridge of his beak. "I am sorry, Takket... I had come to check on you and did not mean to bring all of the chaos." Kaiden let out a content, calm sigh. "I've learned to expect it, Vetlyk... it's part of the 'Roost Experience' as far as I can tell." The Viddin stretched a hind leg, folding it over the Human's thigh and pulling with it to move as much of Kaiden against him as possible; it felt nice. "It is quiet now though." The young man nodded. "Mm... yeah... it's nice." Vetlyk made a 'clearing his throat' sound; it was a learned sound rather than an actual body function. "Do you... want to talk further... about Saurian Earth? I will listen if you have worries." It was a simple offer, and, at first, Kaiden thought he was going to decline but he surprised himself when he just... started talking. All of the thoughts, musings, considerations, and worry that had only found an audience in his head was suddenly given voice and, as he went through it all, Kaiden realized that there was a sense of comfort in being able to share all of it... and so he did. Kaiden discussed his concerns about going somewhere he knew almost nothing about. He explained that he was worried because he felt like he had no time to prepare. He was excited at the opportunity to learn about something new but he was anxious because he honestly had no idea what he was getting himself into. He expressed thanks to know that Haklys would be with him, and was honestly relieved to hear that there was a chance that Vetlyk could go too-- having something familiar and wondeful with him would assuredly help. He talked for what like felt like no time at all but realized that over an hour had passed as he finally talked himself into a concluion. "And... I think I'm gonna go. I... really think that I'm gonna do it." He didn't know if he was looking for approval or confirmation of some kind, but he realized that he got something even better with Vetlyk's simple reply: total and unconditional acceptance. "Okay." They lay together longer, during which time Kaiden slowly began to undress, getting ready for the night. His shirt was the first to go-- a few minutes later it was his pants. He remained in his lover's arms, the silence comfortable after having expressed himself. When he next did speak, it was a question. "Are you really going to be able to go to Saurian Earth with me, Vetlyk?" The Vidday nuzzled the top of his head with his beak. "Kaiden, Takket, kur'im... if you need me, Pfiech itself couldn't keep me away from you." Vetlyk had a way of making everything better. Gently reaching out to carefully interlace his five fingers with the four digits of his lover's talons with one hand, he used the other to doff his underwear. Kaiden had done far too much thinking that night, and he wanted-- he NEEDED something else. "And... if I need you right now?" The Human was surprised when his Viddin lover's statement was entirely in English, murmured softly-- seductively even. "Kaiden, my love, my heart, my mate... there is no future where I will EVER fail to fill your every need." Kaiden honestly wasn't sure if he'd subconsciously positioned himself perfectly for it or if Vetlyk was getting more used to unconventional angles for Viddin to penetrate a partner, but the tip of the Vidday's sheath pressed up against his opening with a perfect aim, an inch of Vetlyk's tapered shaft slipping effortlessly into him before the Human grunted; his partner was big, and there hadn't been any Xys involved. "Ngh... Vetlyk... are you sure? Do you plan on going in...." he paused as a copious flood of Viddin semen painted his insides, spilling out immediately, and quieting the ache of the initial penetration. "...dry?" The Viddin's voice remained soft and soothing, with a faint hint of deadpan humor. "If that isn't enough, I am so very willing to give you even more, Kaiden'im." Kaiden met snark with snark. "Don't make a promise you can't keep, cat-bird." Less than a year prior, Vetlyk was an uptight, rigid, unyielding, elitist display of perfection; there was something wonderfully liberating (and strangely enticing) about how willing he was to set that mask aside when he was with Kaiden, and readily played along with the silliness. "Oh? Are you doubting the value of my word, Zfelt?" The Human grinned like a fool. "I'm saying maybe you should lay it all on the table and make good on it." Vetlyk's beak brushed Kaiden's ear, making the Human shiver when the gryphon's lascivious voice blasted out hot against his bare skin. "It is not going on the table, Takket'im." Kaiden had grown used to being mounted by a Viddin, or riding a Viddin, or any combination of such positions, but laying on his side with a huge gryphon partner wrapped around him, thrusting into him in a way more reminsicent of a two-legged partner was a welcome oddity. There was no pause between Vetlyk's ejaculations, the Vidday continuing his movements even as he squawked out each release, painting Kaiden's insides with more and more slick seed. He had made a promise to satisfy the Human and it was evident that he felt his honor was on the line, and planned to deliver. Forelegs holding the Human close to him, hind legs finding purchase on the footboard, Vetlyk's movements were a dance of pure bliss. Gripping the sheets with one hand, grasp tightening on Vetlyk's talon with the other, the Human moaned aloud as the gryphon's ministrations pushed him over the edge. Kaiden felt warm, loved, and adored, and that was really all he could have asked for. Then again, the mindlbowing orgasm that Vetlyk milked out of him through prostate stimulation alone was an added bonus. Vetlyk had let the movements of Kaiden's internal muscles milk one final ejaculation out of him, quivering with his body taut as another dose of gryphon seed was pumped deep into the Human, at which point he finally settled down. The Viddin pulled the young man even more firmly agains his chest. "I love you, Kaiden Wilson." The night had begun with troubled thoughts but, as he drifted off to sleep, Kaiden knew that, while the future was still uncertain, he had everything he needed to face it.
