From what we've all heard, and dreamed about the future you'd think that the big fad would be robots and other things along those lines, but as the years passed and the technologies grew different types of robots came and went only to be forgotten as scientists pushed their way through the boundaries of what humanity considered humane. From the splicing and mixing of human and animal DNA, a new product of science came forth. "Anthropomorphism" or "Anthro Beings" for short. When they first came out into the open, only the rich and famous could get their hands on these beautiful creatures, but now almost everyone has their hands on one.

Almost being the key word here. It would seem that out of everyone in the small town of Marion, North Carolina the only person that didn't have one of these amazing beings was High School senior Davey Havok. Poor Davey was already considered a freak by his fellow students what with his pale skin, and black devil lock hair style, the tattoos that swam over his arms and the lone lip ring he chewed on when a bout of nervousness would over come him. But it would seem as if the gods were looking out for the teen when a new shop opened up in town that carried "A wide selection of Anthros for your everyday needs."

Davey had been saving his money up for the past few months so he could afford to buy one. That was where he was headed for right now. With a wad of cash in his back pocket, and a slight skip in his step. From what his best friend Hunter had told him the anthros could be whatever you wanted them to be; be it a friend, lover, teacher, protector, or anything the owner could possibly need their new possession for. Hunter was about to go into detail about what he used his for, but Davey only blushed and darted out the door before Hunter could get to the "juicy" details as he called them.

Davey thought himself lucky as he walked down the street, pausing in his movements so he could pull the hood of his black zip up jacket over his head, to protect his face from the chilly December wind that raged through the town. A small shiver wracked through his body as he continued on his way towards the store. A smile pulled at his lips when he caught sight of the building, just a few feet away. But his smile quickly turned into a frown as he stood in front of the large show window. There really didn't seem to be anything fancy about it, but then again all Davey saw was a lone counter with a portly balding man standing beside it, a wide smile on his chunky face.

Shaking his head Davey pushed the shop door open, a soft tinkling of bells filling the air. As soon as the door closed softly behind him a rough sterile smell filled his nose, making his face scrunch up in disgust. God it smells like a hospital in here. He thought as he watched the shopkeeper (or so he assumed) waddle over his way, the smile that was stretched across his face growing bigger with every step he took. Davey gulped slightly and lifted a hand to flip a few strands of hair out of his vision, but they stubbornly went back to their original place.

When the shopkeeper was with in arms reach of Davey he almost gagged. The sicking sterile smell seemed to be radiating off of the man, and at the close proximity it was searing Davey's nose, and making his eyes water.

The shopkeeper held his hand out to Davey, his smile growing wider as Davey hesitantly took the offered hand in a shake. "Why hello there sir. You being here could only mean one thing." He retracted his hand and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively making Davey grimace.

Taking a deep breath he soon regretted as the air scorched down his throat and charred his lungs. "Um, yeah...I'm here to buy and anthro," Davey's eyes darted around the empty room once more before he continued. "That is if you have any left..."

The shopkeeper threw his head back and let out a boisterous laugh making Davey's eyes widen in fear as the event played out. After a few minutes of laughing the shopkeeper looked at Davey with a twinkle in his beady black eyes. "My dear boy I keep all of the merchandise in the back. If you give me a few seconds I'll go see what I have and bring them to you so you can have your pick." He didn't wait for an answer and was off through a door that Davey hadn't spotted before.

A deep sigh of relief passed through Davey as the heavy smell of Bleach and other cleaning products vanished. He felt a little awkward just standing there, but there really wasn't anything else for him to do. There weren't even any chairs in the room! Davey guessed that when people came in here they got what they were looking for an left, didn't want to sit around sharing a conversation with the shop owner.

The sound of clattering, and a few hushed curses filled Davey's ears, making him turn towards the door the shopkeeper had vanished behind earlier. The shopkeeper came into view with oddly an frown plastered across his chunky face. Davey looked down the shopkeepers right arm to his hand and saw his sausage like fingers were wrapped around a think rope which lead into the dark opening behind the door. Davey was about to speak when the shopkeeper sighed heavily and used his free hand to wipe away beads of sweat that were collecting on his brow. "Um, kid I don't know what to tell ya."

Davey lifted an eyebrow in confusion at the shop-keeps words. "What are saying? Are you sold out?"

The shopkeeper laughed nervously and moved from wiping his brow to scratching the back of his head. "We have one left, but he's not really what I'd call a working model."

Davey narrowed his eyes at the way the shopkeeper was talking. Why does he have to make them sound like their just a car? "I'll take it."

The shopkeeper looked at Davey with wide bewildered eyes, his mouth gaping open and closed like some kind of fish. "Y-you..you'll take it?" Davey placed his hands on his hips and stared at the shop keep firmly. The shopkeeper closed his mouth and tugged on the rope roughly muttering under his breath, "It's your funeral kid."

Davey watched with keen interest as the shopkeeper stepped away from the door, a loud sound of something clicking on the tile floor filling the small store. Davey's eyes widened as they scanned over the figure that stepped into the light of the shop. Standing beside the shopkeeper was a male anthro that looked like the painted dogs of Africa. African Wild Dogs, that was their name, Davey thought as he raked his eyes over the candid in front of him. He stood at around 6' with a slim, yet slightly toned body with well defined pecs and the low rising mountains of slightly defined abs. Strong arms were pulled taunt behind its back, where Davey guessed its wrists were tied together. Davey felt his face heat up as his eyes moved below the bellybutton to a well developed sheath and a pair testicles around the size of tennis balls. A low growl filled the air and Davey quickly darted his eyes up to the Wild Dogs face. The candid had short hair that was shaded a lovely auburn color, yet there was a fringe that covered his right eye. It was an angelic blonde and the further it went back, the blond fringe slowly raised off his head, spiking out cutely in the back. His eyes were a deep almond color, and they sparkled in anger and annoyance. Davey's heart clenched sadly as he laid his eyes on the wire basket muzzle that was strapped across his face.

Davey almost reached his hand up, but the shopkeeper coughed loudly causing Davey to turn his attention away from the anthro before him. The shopkeeper didn't seem to look at too pleased and he tugged on the rope that was connected to a jade colored leather collar the canine wore. "This is the only one that I have left in the store. Are you sure you don't want to come back when I get a new shipment in? I can take down your contact info and call you when it comes in."

Davey shyly turned his gaze to look into the deep pools of almond, and he felt like his heart had stopped beating. The deep pools of brown watched him waiting for an answer to the question. Davey swallowed down the lump in his throat as he took a step forward, but as he did so the wild dog took a weary step back, but was jostled forward as the shopkeeper gave another tug on the rope that was connected to the collar he wore.

Davey moved another step closer to the wild dog all the while moving his hand slowly to the canine's face, stroking it gently. Much to the amazement of the shopkeeper the canine leaned into it and murred enjoying it as any normal dog would.

"Well it seems that he likes you. Though I have to tell you this just so we are clear he is a bit of a quirky one. He sometimes has an attitude towards things; that's what the last owner said. I know I bill these anthros as an obedient and loyal. But this one here always seemed to have an attitude when it came to training." explained the shopkeeper which caused a low growl from the wild dog.

Davey moved his hand up, to scratch behind the canine's left ear calming the wild dog down. "Well now I have seen it all he really seems to like you. Well like any animal he must sense the good in you or something that he likes about you. Look I'll give him at a discount to you if you want." He paused long enough to take in the sight before him with a twinkle in his eye "Well let me get the paper work and the stuff you'll need to take care of him." Handing the leash to Davey he chuckles to himself and slinks back into the darkness of the back room.

A small frown pulls at Davey's lips, as he moves his hand from the Wild Dogs ear to trace the metal wires of the basket muzzle that was strapped to his face. His pale lips open in a gasp as a soft, wet tongue inched in-between the gaps in the wire to caress the pad of one of his fingers. Davey pulled his hand back and looked at his new possession with wide eyes as it cocked an eyebrow at him, and...smirked! 'Is it really smirking at me?' Davey thought as he took in the slight pull of its lips.

Almost as if it could read his thoughts its lips pulled back more reveling two rows if sparking white teeth, as if to say, 'That's right,' Davey couldn't believe his eyes. He was being mocked by something that he was buying! A soft chuckle filled the vacant room catching Davey's attention away from the canine to look at the shopkeeper who had walked back in with a small set of papers in his hand.

"I see the two of you are hitting it off." Davey narrowed his chocolate colored eyes at the sarcasm that dripped from every word from that sentence, but he let it slide as the portly man waved around the papers in a rather animated fashion. "Alright boy, all you have to do is fill out the information in these forms, pay for him, and you can be on your merry way."

Davey wrapped his slim fingers around the rope like leash and pulled the canine along with him as he made his way over to the counter where he had first laid eyes on the portly shopkeeper. "Okay, sign your name here and fill out the information required, and your good to go." Davey quickly scribbled down his John Hancock, along with the other information, but paused when he got to the black line beside the bold words "Purchase Name". He darted his gaze over his shoulder as he started to chew on his lip-ring. 'What would be a good name?' He though to himself as he did a quick look over of the canine, before his eyes landed on the jade collar that was wrapped tightly around his neck. Turning back to the paper before him he jotted down the word "Jade" and smiled. After handing the money and the papers over to the shopkeeper Davey was pulling his new "Pet" out the door and into the harsh winter wind, not noticing the evil laugh that escaped the portly man's mouth the moment they slipped out the door, or the words he spoke. "Have fun."
