Chapter 1

Enter The Dragon

Part 2

There was an ear shattering crack and everything began to shake violently, both Liz and her father fell over from the ferocity of the shaking and almost as quickly as it started it stopped. Silence rang out, the only noises were the sounds of car alarms going off in the street, the power had been cut off during the quake and everything was engulfed in darkness.

"Lizzy are you all right?" Liz's father shouted into the dark room as he picked himself up.

"Yeah...my butt hurts a bit but other than that I'm good. How's Desmond?" Both of them went to the couch where Desmond had been only to find he was gone.

"DESMOND!" Liz shouted at the top of her voice through the dark house. No one replied and silence reined until they heard a door close.

"The back door!" Liz shouted running towards the noise her father in close pursuit. The ran out the back to find Desmond standing in the middle of the garden looking into the distance at a pillar of red light shooting up from the ground into the clouded sky above casting an ominous aura over the city. They stopped next to Desmond unable to take their eyes off it like him.

"What is that?"

"The darkness." Desmond said monotone and emotionless, still entranced by the anomaly.

"The darkness? What do you mean boy?" Liz's father questioned looking at Desmond now. After a few moments of Desmond not responding he waved his hand in front of his face but didn't gain a reaction from him. Desmond continued to stare off into the distance.

"Lets get to the hospital, we need to get Desmond checked out and we will also be able to check up on your mother Liz.

They escorted Desmond to the car round the front; Desmond offering no resistance but remained passive and emotionless still in a trance like state. They had been driving for about 10 minutes without seeing another soul or car on the road until they heard screaming, screaming of dozens of people.

"What the hell was that!?!" Liz exclaimed before another car rammed into the side of theirs.

"Fuck! God Damn it!" Liz's father swore as he shook off the pain and disorientation of the crash. Liz you okay? Hows Desmond?"

"I'm okay Dad, Desmond seems to be unharmed." Liz's father got out of the car to check on the other driver but as soon as he got out he saw that there was a riot or something happening a couple of blocks away but it was too hard to make out in the dark. He ran round to check on the other driver to find that he was dead. A bloody broken patch on the windscreen where he had smashed his head, their body lying lifeless and bloodied slumped against the steering wheel. He took out his phone and tried to call the police and found that he couldn't get through as the network was down.

"Liz get Desmond out of the car we're only a ten minutes from the hospital we'll walk from here." He shouted.

Liz got out and helped Desmond out who was still in a trance like state. They started walking making sure to avoid the riot down the street. They walked down the darkened streets all of the buildings they pass in complete darkness, the screaming and noise from the riot fading as they distance themselves from it, the only light a faint red glow cast from the pillar of light a few miles away. Desmond suddenly came out his trance and nearly fell to the ground as he clutches his head in pain only to be caught by Liz and her father.

"Uhhh...what's happening? Where am I?" Desmond asked disorientated and standing on unsteady legs.

"Desmond we're heading to the hospital, are you all right? What do you remember?" Liz asked.

"I don't...I remember being at yours and then...I must have fallen asleep cause I had the dream again but this time it was different..."

"Different how?" Liz questioned.

"I think we should keep this conversation for when we get to the hospital. I don't want to sound dramatic but there is a riot happening so I don't want to run into anyone. God knows what lunatics are prowling the streets tonight." Liz's father interjected but before either of them could respond there was a loud crash from behind them, they turned and looked to see a man falling and rolling across the ground out of an alley.

Before the man could get up a hideous creature leapt out of the alley and onto the man pinning him to the ground. The man barely managed to scream before the creature drove its sword into his chest. The man made a few gurgling noises before going limp. They creature looked up from his victim at them. It stood up and pulled its bloodied blade form the corpse with sicken squelch.

The creature was built like a human and wore what looked like armour but it was falling to bits. It was hairless and it looked like its flesh was rotting and peeling off its body. It stood at around 6 foot 5 and was just a wall of decomposing muscle. It let out a horrific battle cry before charging at the group.

"RUN!!!" Liz's father yelled, all three of them turning and running away from the creature. They sprinted round the corner only to come face to face with another one of the creatures. They turned to run in the opposite direction, Liz's father turned to run and ran into the first creature chasing them and it drove its sword into his gut.

"DAD!!!" Liz screamed being restrained by Desmond from running to his aid.

"Liz...run!" Her father managed to whisper before the creature slashed its sword sideways almost slicing Liz's father in half, his body falling lifeless onto the ground, his blood pooling underneath his mutilated corpse.

"DAAAAAD!!!" Liz screamed only to pulled by Desmond into the building next to them the two creatures giving chase.

They ran up flight after flight of stairs their legs burning from exhaustion the creatures hot on their tail. The kept running, survival the only thing on their mind until they ran out of stairs. They burst through a door onto the roof of the apartment building, stopping for a moment to take in their surroundings before the sound of the creatures approaching reached their ears.

Desmond turned to bar the door blocking the creatures path but as he closed it he was flung several feet backwards as the creatures barged into the door. Desmond scrambled to his feet and Liz ran to his side. The creatures stood a few feet away tauntingly enjoying their hunt and savouring the kill as Desmond and Liz stood huddled together at the edge of the building; no where to run, no where to hide.

After what seemed like an eternity of fear filled waiting one of the creatures ran at the pair its axe raised high above its head. Desmond shoved Liz to the side out of the way of the attack. The creature was about to bring its weapon crashing down into Desmond's flesh when Desmond fell backwards and raised his foot into the creatures stomach using its own momentum to make it flip over him and over the edge of the building. A few moments later a sickening splat was heard from below as the creature smashed into the ground below.

Desmond quickly rolled to his feet as the other creature ran at him, it creature swung its sword and Desmond ducked it and rolled to the side. The creature quickly attacked again swinging its sword down vertically this time, Desmond managed to side step it in the nick of time and then kicked the creature in the side of the knee making it scream in pain as it fell to its knee.

Before the creature could stand up Desmond did a round house kick into the back of the creatures head knocking flat on its face. It remained on the ground motionless, after a few moments Desmond ran over to Liz who was just picking herself off the ground.

"Liz! Are you all right?"

"Yeah I'm all right Des...DESMOND!" Liz yelled looking behind him. Desmond spun round and got tackled by the creature. It tackled Desmond with such force it drove the air out of his lungs and its momentum took them both over the edge of the building. Time slowed down for Desmond as he fell, he felt his body twisting and turning in the air as he plummeted towards the ground through the cold night air. He heard Liz scream his name and next thing he felt was hitting the ground pain shooting through his entire body.

He lay there trying to force air into lungs and tasted blood in his mouth. As hot dry air filled his lungs he coughed forcefully as the hot air almost burned his throat. He finally opened his eyes and looked round, he had landed in sand. He struggled to his feet and took in his surroundings, he couldn't believe it. He was in the middle of a fucking desert!

He stood there gawking in disbelief clutching his sides in pain, he was sure some of his ribs were broken. He stood on a dune above a rocky section of ground a few feet below. The sun overhead its heat beating him down, he knew that wouldn't survive for long if he didn't find some shade.

A noise behind him caught his attention, he turned slowly so as not to aggravate his ribs and was met with a fist to his face. He was sent flying off the dune onto the rocks at the bottom of the dune. He felt the rocks digging into his flesh and pain shoot through his body as he landed. That pain was numbed however when he smacked the back of his head off a rock. His vision was blurry and unfocused, as he tried to focus on the being standing on the dune above him he soon realized it was the creature that had knocked him off the building and it looked pissed. It picked up it sword and ran towards the edge of the dune and leapt off ready to sink its sword into Desmond's helpless form.

Desmond could only look on helplessly as the creature fell through the air towards him, all he could do was to raise his arm helplessly in his defence. Time slowed as Desmond yet again saw his oncoming death approaching, he felt fear grip his chest and then felt it spread through his body. The sensation over took his senses until it suddenly flowed from his body and into the palm of his raised hand.

"NO!" Desmond yelled and a bolt of lightning flew from his palm and smashed into the creatures chest knocking it back and crashing to the ground 10 feet away.

Desmond had no time to ponder what had just happened as he felt the unconsciousness over take him. He felt his conciousness slipping from him and sensed the presence of something standing over him. He heard it speak but couldn't make it out. He used all his remaining strength and will to focus on the creatures words.

"Did you see that?"

"Yeah, it killed the dark spawn." a second voice replied

"What is it?" The first voice asked.

"It's a human. Pathetic creatures," the second voice responded.

"Help..." Desmond tried to say but it came out as hoarse whisper.

"It's trying to talk."

"Don't bother, you won't be able to understand it. They don't speak our language."

"Help...me" Desmond managed to stutter before losing consciousness.

************

Desmond awoke much later, he sat up tenderly his body still sore. He looked round at his surrounding to find himself in a hut of some sort. Talismans, weapons and animal skins adorned the walls of the hut. It was circular in shape and he lay on the floor on furs next to the fire that sat in the middle of the hut. His wounds had been bandaged and a strange herb smell came from the bandages. Desmond assumed it must be some kind of medicine.

'If they haven't killed me yet and have treated me then I guess I shouldn't try to escape.' Desmond thought to himself. His body was still sore and despite his thirst he decided to go back to sleep as he still felt tired.

When Desmond awoke again it was sometime during the day and his body felt fantastic. He stood up and stretched almost no pain ran through his body and his muscles felt stiff.

"Glad to see your feeling better" Came a voice from behind him he turned to thank the person for helping him but his words got stuck in his throat as he saw what spoke to him. It was a dragon.

"HOLY SHIT!!!" Desmond shouted before stumbling backwards and tripping over the sleeping furs only to scramble to his feet and run out the hut. A few feet out of the hut he crashed into another dragon which gave him a glare and growled making him fall backwards again. Panicked now he looked around him, he was in a village full of dragons. He sat there petrified and almost sure they were going to eat him when the dragon who had spoken to him in the hut emerged.

"Don't worry little one, we are not going to hurt you." Desmond calmed down a bit but was still freaked out.

He looked upon the dragon who had spoken to him. Compared to the others he was much older and elderly, he walked with a cane, his eyes wrinkled and showed the knowledge and clarity that came with age. He wore a simple loincloth and his wings were folded neatly behind him. His scales were grey and had a mane of white hair and despite his hunched posture was still taller than Desmond. His body compare to the other dragons who looked upon the scene was frail but in comparison to Desmond he was very muscular.

"Why are you talking to that runt? He can't understand you." The red scaled dragon asked aggressively, it was the dragon he had run into when running out of the hut.

This dragon was huge, he was easily 8 foot tall and was nothing but toned muscle, he had three small horns jutting out of his forehead in a triangle shape and had a mane of black hair. His wings were spread out wide behind him making him even more intimidating than he already was. He also wore a loincloth Like the grey scaled Dragon only much more fashionable, it was an array of orange reds and yellows and he had a massive double bladed axe draped across his back. The axe had a wooden handle but the blade was black metal and was at least 6 feet long. He wore a Tailisman of some sort round his powerful neck.

"Not according to Nathan and Kilian. They said it asked for help in dragon tongue."

"Preposterous!" the red dragon snorted. "Humans have not every existed in this world and can't possible know the language of the Creator. According to Kilian the human fell out of the sky with a dark spawn."

"True, I was told that as well which is worrying. If there is a crack allowing dark spawn into this world it could mean a lot of trouble for us. But in the mean time we still have a human here and I want to determine whether or not he can actually speak our language or not. If he can I don't believe it to be a waste of time finding out now do you?" The elderly dragon said calmly ignoring the bigger dragons aggression.

"Fine then Lord Ash, as shaman you have authority." The red dragon grunted annoyed.

"Umm..." Desmond made a noise drawing the attention of the two dragons, "If your not going to kill me...can I please have some water?" Desmond asked nervously. The elderly grey dragon just smiled while the larger red one just stared open mawed.

"Of course, of course. Follow me into the hut and I will get you some water." The grey dragon responded before turning to the red dragon again. "Can you send for Nathan please Garrick? He should be up on the ridge gathering herbs for me." The red dragon took a few moments to respond but grunted, nodded and walked off giving Desmond a glare before doing so.

Desmond followed the grey Dragon into the hut and sat around the fire pit which was unlit at the moment, the elderly dragon soon handed him a clay bowl with water in it and sat across from Desmond while he guzzled the water letting out a satisfied sigh when he finished it.

"Now that your thirst is quenched perhaps you'd be willing to sate my thirst for knowledge that I have revolving round you and your presence here." The grey Dragon said eloquently. "But first we should start with introductions. My name is Lord Ash, I am shaman of this village."

"Uh...my name is Desmond, Desmond O'Leary."

"Very nice to meet you Desmond. Shalmalaka."

"Uh?"

"Oh sorry, Shalmalaka is a greeting. I assumed since you know our language you knew of our customs, I apolagise."

"Well I'm able to understand you and speak to you but I'm afraid I don't know why or how I'm able to this, for some reason in the last few days I have been able to understand different languages and speak them fluently even when I've never heard them before. I told my friend Liz...Oh my god Liz!!! What happened to her?"

"I'm assuming this...Liz is a friend of yours?"

"Yes, we were attacked by some hideous creatures and then I got knocked of a building and ended up here...Where is here?" Desmond asked worry heavy in his voice.

"Ah well I may be able to answer some of your questions. The creatures that attacked you based on my apprentices report was a dark spawn. A pawn of the Dark God Yami. His army was sealed away by Ragnarok the creator of our people. However some of Yami's army seems to have been able to escape the sealing and are now rampaging through the worlds."

"Worlds?"

"Yes there are countless worlds separated by an invisible but incredibly strong barrier making impossible for the worlds to interact under most circumstances. You are in a different world Desmond. How you got here is within question. It takes an incredible power to rip through the barrier between worlds especially this one where the barrier is at its strongest. This is a shard of the old world making it very difficult to enter without using the gate which we have had sealed long ago due to the Dark spawn raids."

"So I'm in a different world? How do I get back?"

"At this point Desmond I have to say there is way known to me for you to get back to your world short of tearing the very fabric of reality itself. No one in this world has such a power as that power belongs only to that of a god, all of which have long since perished in the War against Yami and even the creator himself gave his life to seal him away."

Desmond sat there letting what he was told sink in when another dragon entered the hut.

This dragon was shorter than the others he'd seen but still an impressive height compared to Desmond., he stood at 6 feet 2 inches and had a toned but slender body. He like the others wore a loincloth his being a simple brown colour. He had light red coloured scales and a fiery orange coloured mane. He was obviously younger than any of the other dragons Desmond had seen probably about the same age as Desmond in dragon years at least, For all he knew they lived to be a thousand and you weren't considered ad adult till you were a hundred or something, he made a mental note to ask about that later.

"Ahh Nathan good of you to come so promptly, our guest has awoken."

Desmond and Nathan took a few moments to examining each other before Nathan introduced himself.

"Shalmalaka, My name is Nathan." He said polity.

"Shalmalaka, My name is Desmond. If I understand correctly you are one of the dragons who found me." Desmond responded trying to be polite.

"Yes myself and Kilian were returning from another village when we saw you fall from the sky and also kill that dark-spawn."

"Wait! I killed it?" Desmond asked shocked then recalling vaguely how he had blasted the dark spawn as it was about to kill him.

"Yes, using magic I assumed we did not find any weapons with you when we got to you. I haven't seen an attribute like it before."

"Yes that was actually one of my next questions Desmond" Lord Ash interrupted. "I was hoping you'd show me this attribute. From what Nathan tells me it sounds much like lightning but never in years have I heard of a being able to wield Lightning other that the great Dragon General Raikkonen. He was a Dragon who showed great skill and courage in the battle against Yami's army, he fought side by side with the great Dragon God himself."

"I don't know, it just kinda happened." Desmond replied.

"Ah well then perhaps we should try to train you in using sometime."

"You could do that?"

"Well yes but I'm only a fire attribute as is Nathan here so we might not be able to help you as much as we'd like but we could certainly train you be able to control it, mastering it will be down to you and you alone, every attribute is so very different in its abilities."

"Your both magic users? Do all dragons have an attribute?" Desmond asked truly intrigued.

"Well yes and no. All dragons and living organisms for that matter have an attribute but only a rare few can actually use it for anything. More dragons admittedly are able to tap into their abilities than any other race I've heard of but even then they are few in number." Lord Ash explained.

"If I could ask a favour of you Desmond?" Nathan asked now sitting round the fire pit as well. "Please don't tell anyone in the village that I am able to manipulate fire."

"Why? I thought having this power made you special?" Desmond asked confused.

"I have my reasons but I would appreciate you doing this for me."

"Okay no problem. You did save my life and all so it's the least I can do." Nathan smiled and looked relieved at this.

"Thank you Desmond."

"Now then Desmond, Nathan and I are taking a short pilgrimage to the shrine of Raikkonen up the mountain and we can begin your training there, if you are a lightning user then it will be most appropriate don't you think." Lord Ash gave an amused smirk at this and lifted a pipe to his maw and using just his finger lit it and took a few puffs filling the room with a pungent smoke.

The rest of the day went by smoothly, Nathan gave Desmond a tour of the village who was a bit unnerved by all the stares he got but that was to be expected really as very few of the villagers had ever seen a human before. The young Dragon cubs managed to rope him into playing a few games with them, Nathan too.

Before long it was time for bed and Desmond felt extremely tired since he was still recovering although his injuries had all but healed.

***********

"WHAT!!!"

Desmond was jolted awake from someone shouting outside the hut. He couldn't hear what was being said but someone wasn't very happy. Shortly afterwards Lord Ash entered carrying a bag of some description and handed it to Desmond.

"Here Desmond, these are some supplies for our trip, the journey will one take 2 days and we will be there for a week or so."

"Thank you Lord Ash."

"Please when we are not in public call me Ash, If you are a Manipulator you are entitled to the title of Lord as well and therefore we can be more casual with each other. The same wit Nathan."

"Wait so you're not a Lord because you're a shaman?"

"Hehe no, Shaman are Shaman, leaders, healers. Lords are the title given to Manipulators. Now come you have time for a quick breakfast before we head out."

************

Ash, Nathan and Desmond had set off to the shrine early morning and during the midday hours had taken refuge from the sun in the numerous caves that ran along the mountain side. They used this time to help Desmond learn how to access his power without much success. When the sun set they made camp and ate some stew and afterwards did a few hours training with Desmond before turning in. During their resting in a cave on the second day from the midday sun Desmond had manage to get some sparks appear from his finger tips and could now do so at will.

"Well its certainly progress." Ash said with a proud smile watching Desmond look at his hands in disbelief.

"Yeah but it's only sparks hardly what you'd call great progress." Desmond said almost dejectedly.

"Don't be so down Desmond, it took Nathan nearly a month to even get the smallest flame to appear, I myself took a similar amount of time. Your making excellent progress."

Ashes kind words raised Desmond's spirits and soon enough they were on their way again completing the last leg of their journey to the shrine.

I will be needing a large number of new characters for up coming chapters of this story. If you are interested in having your character in the story just PM me the details including sexual preference and possibly how you would like your character to make their appearance.
