What Shapes Us Written by: RVasil Commissioned by: GinkoG

The day was going quite slow. Sure, Alabast had work to do. There were some bolts he needed to fasten and some nuts underneath the car that he needed to tighten, but other than that, it was just the same old routine that he had been doing for a long while now. Alabast reached down and grabbed one of the wrenches he had laid out at the side, and began to turn one of the last few bolts he needed to make sure the engine was safely secured. After a moment of using pure elbow grease, the hexagonal nut was secured and the dragon allowed himself to carefully roll out from underneath the automobile.

"How is it, Boss?" asked one of his workers.

"It wasn't half that bad, really," Alabast answered, sitting upright. He grabbed one of the rags from the side table and began to wipe the oil from his hands. "There were just some nuts that were loose. I tightened them already. That should get things back in order."

"Sweet. Let me go test it out." The wolf walked over to the front of the car, the keys jingling in his hand. Alabast on the other hand took the bottle of water he had for himself on the table and began to down it. The car in front of him rumbled to life, and a loud whoop emanated from the driver's seat. "Awesome! It works now!"

"Good, good," he answered back. "Go and check the papers and see what else Mr. Vasil wants fixed for his car, alright?"

"You got it, Boss." The lupine then turned the engine off, and then headed off to the office to check the papers. With the door closing behind him, that left Alabast by himself and the dragon used this chance to get a bit of a break. He glanced at the clock on the wall and noted the time. He then fished for his phone in his pocket and called his friend.

"Hey, what's up?" came the voice as the person picked up.

Alabast leaned on the table as he smiled. "Brock! Hey! Are we still on for tonight?"

"Oh yeah, yeah, of course Alabast." There was the sound of flowing water in the background. Brock must have been working at his garden again, Alabast assumed. "Just don't forget the drinks, alright? It's on you for tonight."

"Sure thing, catch you later."

Alabast turned the call off and pocketed his phone. The yellow dragon always looked forward to hanging out with his violet counterpart. He smiled, his mind flashing back to him the memories they had when they were in college. It was a chance meeting, and honestly, he didn't expect things to go the way that they did. But he was happy nonetheless. He liked Brock. Glancing back up at the wall clock, he saw that he still had a ten minutes or so just lounge around whilst waiting for his worker to come back with the papers.

The dragon allowed himself to fall back into his memories. He decided to remind himself of where he and Brock met for the first time.

Music.

Very loud music.

Food. Food that tasted horrendous but for some odd reason that night tasted that like it was the best thing ever. Alabast wasn't even a fan of putting those toppings on pizza, and yet he vividly remembered wolfing it down like a dragon that was hungry for his meal. The music changed and the lights flashed. The crowd whooped and it was as if the entire building itself was swaying. Stuck in the middle of it all was Alabast and the dragon happily swayed his body to the rhythm.

It was the picturesque image of a party reaching a fever pitch, and it showed no signs of slowing down or burning out. It was clear to everyone that this was going to go all night long. This was what the students wanted. This was what they longed for.

This was what they thought of when they thought of college.

Some men were whooping, shouting happily about something. There were a few choice groups who were obviously slinking into the dark to get some more privacy. Then there were the students who kept to themselves and enjoyed socializing with the few people that were like them there. There was something for everyone and Alabast enjoyed it. He tipped the glass bottle he had in his hands and was disappointed to find it empty.

"Uh, guys," he said, raising his voice so he could be heard above the loud music. "I'm just going to go grab me a new bottle, alright?"

He then excused himself from the group of people he was chatting with, and the dragon began to weave his way amongst the crowd. The party was at a full swing, and honestly, Alabast had already forgotten what it was all about. All he could vaguely remember was that a party was going to happen, and his college classmates invited him to go along with it. It didn't really bother him as much. He was just as happy to tag along with them and have some fun after a long day of classes.

Managing to successfully weave through the large crowd, he arrived at the drinks cooler and helped himself to a new cold beverage.

"Crazy party, huh?"

The dragon turned around to find a fellow dragon smiling at him. Alabast smiled back, happy to return the greeting. "Yeah," he answered. He finished opening the bottle and stood aside. "You wanted a refill?"

The violet dragon nodded and helped himself to the beverages in the cooler. He opened one of the ice cold drinks and poured one out for him. He then turned to Alabast and asked, "Cheers?"

The returned the warm smile. "Cheers!" The two drank down their cool beverages, Alabast savoring the sweet flavor of the alcoholic beverage.

His impromptu drinking buddy extended a hand to greet him. "The name's Brock. You?"

Alabast reached out to shake the dragon's hand. "Alabast."

Brock nodded, taking another sip from his drink. Having this momentary lull in the conversation, Alabast took this chance to examine his friend. He noted that he and Brock shared the same build type. Brock was large, the muscles in his arms still visible as he held the cup in his hands. It occurred to Alabast that Brock must have been the type to busy himself at the gym during weekends. Wanting to start conversation, he decided to voice a question. "So, what are you in for, Brock?"

The violet dragon's eyes glanced at him, and he laughed. "I'm studying Agricultural Science."

"Oh," Alabast replied. "I don't know what that is."

The dragon grinned. "It's fine. I don't what it is either." Brock's smile was infectious, and Alabast found himself smiling along with him. "I just take care of plants and hope for the best. You?"

"Automotive Engineering."

"So you're the owner of the Tesla car outside then!"

Alabast blinked, then saw the smile Brock had on his face. "Ha ha, I wish. The only form of transportation I own requires me to use this thing we call legs. It's amazing really!" He grinned at the purple dragon. "You should try it some time."

The two shared a laugh with each other.

The rest of the evening continued onwards with Alabast finding enjoyment in Brock's company. The dragon was cheery, his perky attitude and demeanor was infectious. It was the kind of person Alabast enjoyed being around in, and he had a strong feeling that he was going to have another friend by the end of the evening. The party continued on to the wee hours in the morning, and it all blurred for Alabast. It all just meshed together.

It wasn't long until he found himself sitting on the sofa, sharing a drink with Brock once more. He closed his eyes for one moment, and then the next thing he knew, morning came.

Alabast woke up, feeling the effects of dehydration washing over him. He was beginning to regret drinking so much the night before. He looked around groggily, wondering what life choices he made that ended with him being in the situation he was in now. He was hungover, sweaty, and in need of a shower with a raging headache. Blinking once more, he saw that all over the room, different students in various awkward positions were out cold and were snoring lightly. It seemed he lucked out in finding the better sleeping area.

His movements stirred the person next to him, and the dragon groaned, rising to meet the sunlight that was streaming in from the windows.

"Where am I...?" he mumbled, looking around. His eyes landed on Alabast who had a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Alabast?"

"Morning to you too, sleepyhead," Alabast greeted Brock. The yellow dragon stood up and began to stretch, scratching his back. He had fallen asleep at a weird angle, and his back cried out to him as he pulled the muscle. "I need a shower..."

"Me too," Brock chimed in, standing next to him.

"Catch you later then?" Alabast asked, looking at the dragon who was stretching his neck.

"Oh yeah, you have my number anyways. We can hit each other up later."

Alabast smiled. It was nice to know to have another person to hang out on campus.

That was how Alabast and Brock's first meeting went. Two strangers who hit it off quite nicely and by the end of the evening, they were fast friends. The friendship only continued to grow stronger as the two dragons continued meeting with one another. By sheer coincidence, their respective school schedules aligned perfectly, allowing them to hangout during breaks to get some coffee or even lunch.

Alabast enjoyed Brock's company and he had a feeling the dragon was feeling the same way. The two helped each other with homeworks and school projects, and offered advice when the other was struggling with an obstacle in class. They were inseparable, and it seemed like even the world knew it. They often found themselves getting invited to the same parties, and Alabast enjoyed socializing with Brock more as they drunk themselves to a drunken stupor with the cheap booze they were provided with.

"You know Brock," Alabast began as he swirled the liquor he had inside the party red cup he held in his hand, "I'm beginning to feel bad for hogging all your time."

The dragon's brow rose in response. "What do you mean?"

"Don't get me wrong," Alabast answered, taking a swig of the drink. He was partially buzzed at this point. The dragon pondered the question he had in his head. He had been meaning to ask the dragon this question for a while now but he always hesitated in thinking that it would have come across as rude. However, the booze was helpful in tempering his reservations. "I like hanging out with you. You're a cool guy.. But you don't always have to hang out with me, man."

Looking a bit confused, Brock cocked his head to the side, trying to decipher what his friend was trying to tell him. "You're going to have to run that by me again, Alabast," he said.

"What I mean is, I don't want to be the reason you're getting blue balls, if you catch my drift."

It took a moment for the comment to land but the dragon eventually got what his friend was trying to run by him. "Ahh," he answered, taking a drink from his own cup. "You don't have to worry about me getting my rocks off." He chuckled, thinking about the prospect. "I didn't know you cared so much about my sexual well being," he teased.

Alabast felt the blood run to the sides of his cheeks. "Y-you know, it's just..." he sounded flustered, instinctively scratching the back of his head. "You've been sticking with me for like...for as long as I can remember. I don't want to come across as taking away your personal time that you may plan to spend with other people..." he shrugged then added, "a significant other and all that."

Brock let out a light laugh and gently tapped him on the back. "You're fine, Alabast," he answered, "and besides, I could say the same thing to you." He saw Alabast's raised brow, prompting him to continue, "You should spend some time with your significant other."

Alabast snorted. He shook his head and took another drink from his party cup. "Nah, unlike you I don't have a significant other." He glanced at his friend who looked surprised at his answer. "Yes, I know it's shocking, given this handsome mug."

"Well we're on the same boat then."

Alabast blinked. "Wait what?"

"I'm not seeing anyone anymore."

"Anymore?"

"I had a girlfriend back in high school," the dragon waved his hand dismissively. "It was a thing. I loved her. She loved me. The fire was there but it eventually burnt out as we approached graduation." He shook his head. "It was a fun time. We appreciate what he had instead of regretting what we lost." He took another drink from his cup, emptying the contents entirely. "How about you?"

The yellow dragon shook his head. "None."

Brock cocked his head to the side. "Never wanted one or could never get one?"

"Never had the time," Alabast answered plainly. "I was too busy with my studies."

"What?" Brock asked skeptically. "Really?" he looked over the yellow dragon then slowly nodded to himself. "Yeah, I can see that."

"What are you talking about?"

"You are kind of a nerd."

Alabast's eyes narrowed as he glared.

"Relax! I'm kidding."

The two continued on their merry conversation, enjoying yet another party they've already forgotten the name of the host for. It didn't matter for the two dragons. What mattered was that they got to hung out and got to drink booze all the way. This pattern continued forward and it only got better there. Seconds turned to minutes, minutes turned to hours, and hours turned to days. Monday to Sunday, the week ended one after the other. Alabast and Brock's friendship grew as the seasons went by them.

The many homeworks, quizzes, projects and exams passed by in the blink of an eye. The many sleepless nights and the countless parties they were only privy to attend to; the many small conversations plus the long and arduous ones that had the two contemplating the meaning of life when they happened to be drunk out of their mind; all of it transpired as the school year clock counted down. Before long, the cool winter breeze of December wafted in and brought its cold embrace to coat the university.

If there was ever a moment in time where Alabast was glad that he was a dragon, this was it. Being a dragon had its perks, and one of them had him being more resistant to cold temperatures. He looked and couldn't help but smile at how all his classmates were wearing three layers of clothing, covered with scarves and knitted gloves. Meanwhile, there he was wearing only a modest sweater with a scarf around his neck. He was comfortable, fashionable, and most importantly warm. The envious stares he got from his less fortunate classmates were way too many to count.

But as December made itself known to them, there was also one thing that was crystal clear. With December came the Winter Break, and this meant the biggest party of them all.

"Year End Party," Alabast read allowed as he watched the streamer get hoisted up by the student group assigned for decorations. They were all busy putting up decor, checking the sound systems and making sure everything was in order. The Year End Party was the party to end things off on a high note and start things off with a bang as it counted down to New Year's Eve.

Alabast was just happy that he could finally get some decent rest and relaxation after a tiring and taxing school year. He forgot what it was like to get eight hours of sleep after staying up so late studying for exams. Nonetheless, the dragon grinned, eager to get his drink on and enjoy the socialization he was finally going to get. The feeling of dread and stress disappearing was a welcoming thought.

"So," came a voice from behind him. Alabast turned around to find it was his dorm mate, Luis. The brown horse smiled at him, his mane swishing behind his head. "You planning on heading to the Year End Party then?"

"Oh, yeah, of course!" Alabast answered. "You?"

Luis nodded. "Are you bringing someone?"

"Are we supposed to?"

Luis looked at him slyly. "Come on, Al, it's the end of the year. The spirit of Christmas is right around the corner. If there was ever a moment in time for you to get your rocks off, now would be it." His expression then softened. "What about that guy you kept hanging around with? Brad was it?"

"Brock."

"Yeah, him. You two look good together. Don't tell me you haven't made a move on him yet."

Alabast looked at his friend flatly. "Hold yourself, Luis. He's a friend, not a booty call. Besides, I don't even think he leans that way."

Luis looked a bit disappointed. "Oh. Really? Ugh...oh well, pity. Still, see you there alright?"

Alabast nodded and Luis excused himself, muttering something about having to pass an assignment for computer class. The dragon was left standing there, mulling over his roommate's words. He never really thought of Brock THAT way before. He always saw the purple dragon as a friend, a good friend even. Brock was someone he could confide in, someone to share his troubles with if something was on his mind. But to think of him as anything more than that...? Alabast humored the thought. Sure, Brock was a looker. There may have been a time or two where he found himself staring at the other dragon more than he intended to, but to be honest, he never really did made a move on him. More so because he never really thought of it, and he respected the dragon and cared more about the friendship they had and didn't want to ruin it. The dragon didn't allow his mind to bask in the thought as he feared what may take hold.

Also, Brock mentioning he had a girlfriend in the past only solidified which field the dragon batted for.

But as the hours ticked by and the yellow dragon soon found himself standing in the crowd of people in the party venue, the realization began to set in deeper and deeper into him. Majority of the people he saw there were couples, or at least, people who had someone to go with. It was obvious that there were some who were just friends, and just there to have a good ole fun time. But the ones that stood out were those who were clearly emotionally invested with each other. New Year's Eve was right around the corner and the obvious couples held each other close, whispering sweet some things into each other's ears.

It tugged at Alabast's heartstrings. Not only because it was romantic, but it also reminded him of his situation. Being busy with school, chasing deadline after deadline, making sure to pass his deliverables took a toll on the dragon's social life. Sure, he was able to have fun and enjoy the social events and occasions every now and then, but the lack of intimacy was a hole that was failing to be filled.

Thus, with a heavy heart, the dragon seated himself on one of the benches at the party venue, a cool refreshing beverage in hand, drinking it every now and then. He wasn't expecting to feel so down when the mood was so lively and cheery, and yet here he was, feeling blue. Maybe his emotions were finally beginning to show itself after being free from the stress of having to stay strong in order to survive college. Either way, he drunk his cold alcoholic drink, a dejected sigh following afterwards.

"Hey," came a voice behind him.

He turned his head to see Brock approach him, holding the same red party cup in his hands as well. The dragon's purple cheeks were flushed, already halfway to being intoxicated much like he was. Whoever was in charge in sneaking in alcoholic beverages into school grounds was a con artist protege.

"Oh, Brock," he greeted, scooting over to give his friend a space on the bench. The purple dragon sat next to him and made himself comfortable. For a moment, the two relished in the silence, both clearly lost in their own deep thoughts. It was Brock who broke the silence.

"So, you didn't have anyone?"

The question was so plain and yet it carried a lot of weight behind it, or so Alabast thought. It was like his mind was being to just analyze everything now. The dragon shook his head. "Maybe you were right," he remarked.

Brock's brow rose. "About what?"

"Me being a nerd." Alabast chuckled at his own comment. "It's New Year's Eve and I don't even get to get my rocks off, or so Luis tells me." The dragon wondered what the equine was doing at the current moment. He was probably off gallivanting, doing something flirtatious.

"Oh, relax, you're fine," Brock remarked, drinking from his cup. "You're not bad, Alabast. You're quite great. You're a good person. I'm happy that I became your friend."

"Thank you," Alabast replied, smiling at his friend. The two sat quietly with one another, enjoying the peaceful moment they shared. "You didn't find a date for the party then?" Alabast asked nonchalantly.

Brock shook his head. "Nah. I wanted it to be special, you know?" He looked outwards to the black sky, watching the twinkling yellow stars. "Sure, I could probably find someone in the crowd and pull them into my dorm for a quick romp but what's the point in that?"

Alabast found himself agreeing. Sex was one thing. Sex with someone you cared about was something different entirely. He took a swig of his drink again, feeling his cheeks flush from the strong alcohol. Unlike from previous parties, the liquor the students smuggled in this time was far stronger than it has ever been. He was already beginning to sway side by side. A thought crossed his mind, and due to his inebriated nature, giggled out loud. It grabbed Brock's attention.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Just something funny," he remarked. "Luis, told me that I should have just gone out with you seeing as we spend so much time together."

Brock laughed along with him, taking another drink from his cup. "Maybe he's right," he commented. The two found themselves looking at one another. The thoughts of seeing Brock as something more began to rear its head once again in Alabast's head. The dragon couldn't shake it away no matter how hard he tried. The cheery, lively atmosphere only served to heighten the ache he felt in the metaphorical hole in his heart.

"I really appreciate you being around Brock, it helps keep the loneliness away," Alabast said softly.

Brock returned the warm smile and moved closer. "I could say the same to you too, Alabast. I'll be honest, ever since I broke up with my girl, it was never the same again."

"Well, hey, I'm glad to help however way I can," he added. It sounded cheesy, corny, and downright sappy, and yet, it felt appropriate. The two were so wrapped up in their impromptu heart to heart with one another that they failed to notice that the group of students were beginning to countdown to welcome the new year.

"5...4...3...2...!"

Locked eyes with one another, the two dragons did something they both weren't expecting. Whether it was the moment, the drinks, the loneliness brought about by the stresses of college or something else entirely, the found refuge in each other's companies. Alabast wasn't sure who made the move first, but one thing was clear, they both ended up leaning in to kiss. It was short, tender, timed conveniently as the fireworks set off, lighting up the night sky. It was romantic as anyone could have ever asked for. In that brief moment of closeness, the aching that Alabast felt in his chest disappeared. The intimacy he yearned for was resolved and everything, everything in the world felt absolutely right.

The sound of cheering greeted them as the two dragons separated. Everyone was shouting, the DJ began to play ecstatic music on the speakers. The party was coming alive once more. Alabast separated from Brock's lips, still tasting the alcohol in his mouths. He felt light headed, both from the liquor and the sudden turn of intimacy, but overall, he was feeling fine as a whole. No words were said between them, and the yellow dragon found comfort in the silence.

The party continued on, with the two dragons feeling like their friendship went somewhere neither of them expected.

Alabast's memory was hazy by the time he woke up the next morning. The dull throb of a headache greeted him and he found himself groaning as he sat up right, his throat begging him for some water. The dragon scratched his back as he got out of bed, in nothing but his underwear, and made his way to the small fridge they had in the corner. The dragon was soon quenching his thirst, trying to rid himself of the nasty hangover he was going through.

The headache was banging on his head like a drum that ceased to stop its rhythm. Alabast gritted his teeth, muttering to himself. He was beginning to question if it was even worth living at that moment. The sound of his phone beeping broke him from his dark thoughts, and the dragon was more than happy to go back near his bed and lay down. Flopping his head on the pillow, the dragon lazily reached over to grab his phone from his nightstand.

There was one message. Alabast had to squint slightly to focus the words on the screen. Brock, it read.

"What does he want...?" he muttered, sounding more colder than he wanted. His headache was making it hard for him to care about anyone but himself at the moment. With a heavy sigh, Alabast unlocked his phone and read the text message Brock had sent him.

"What in the world?"

His phone screen was message after message. Alabast had to keep scrolling down to find the latest one. All of the messages boiled down to follow a pattern. Brock was asking him if he was up, and each subsequent message that followed showed that of a man sounding distressed. Alabast found himself gulping when he read the last message that was sent just a minute ago.

It read: "Dude, I really need to talk to you. It's important."

The yellow dragon tapped the side of his head, trying to jog his memory and remember details of what had happened the night before. Did something serious happen? With the way Brock was acting it was like he got kidnapped or something. Alabast shook his head. That was way too absurd. It probably wasn't life threatening but serious enough to have shaken the dragon to this level of distress.

Typing a message and thankful that autocorrect changed his misspelled words, he sent the message and patiently waited, still thinking about the night before.

"I'm up. What's up? You okay?" his message read.

It didn't take more than a minute before his phone beeped again and Alabast began to read the message.

"Can you meet me at my dorm? There's something important I want to talk to you about." Alabast was admittedly confused. But he realized this must have been important if they had to talk about it in person. The dragon typed his response before standing up right and making his way to the bathroom. It was time to freshen up.

The yellow dragon was out the door in just a few minutes, eating a pack of biscuits he found lying around to keep his hunger at bay. He could eat later after dealing with whatever this was. Thankfully, Brock's dormitory wasn't that far from his and before long, Alabast found himself standing in front of the dragon's door and knocked on it.

"Brock," he called out.

The sound of footsteps at the other side responded and the door swung open to reveal his friend looking as disheveled as he was earlier. Brock was only in his shorts and a tank top that looked a size too small for him. "Oh, Alabast," he said, sounding more worried than relieved. He paused for a moment, looking as if he was debating something before he resigned himself to walking back into the room. "Come in."

Alabast followed behind Brock who stopped and rested behind a wall. The door closed behind them, Alabast decided to get straight to the point. "Is everything alright? With the way you were texting me it sounded like you were dying or something." The dragon allowed himself to smile at the comment.

But Brock wasn't laughing or smiling. The purple dragon remaining quiet and somber. He glanced up at Alabast, his eyes filled with emotion. "Sorry about that," he answered. "I...I guess I kind of overreacted a little."

"It's fine," Alabast waved him off dismissively. "So? What's up?"

The dragon was silent for a moment, before releasing a deep sigh. "I'm...confused."

"About?"

"Yesterday."

Alabast's brow rose. "What exactly about yesterday?"

Brock shook a little, and leaned on the wall. It seemed like whatever happened scared him. It made Alabast worry more as his memory was still slightly foggy. Thankfully his headache was beginning to cease to be a nuisance. "That's the thing...I...I don't remember much of what happened." Even the dragon's voice shook. "I remember we were together, and we were having a good time and all that. I was too buzzed to really remember much of what happened when we sat down together. I remember we were talking and all that...I think...I think I did something I shouldn't have."

"You did something?" Alabast's memory was becoming clear now. It was coming back to him and the realization of what was scaring Brock was beginning to down on him.

"Yeah...I...think I did something. Or...well...we did something." The look of fear was etched clearly on Brock's face. It was like he was facing death right in the face. Or something similar to it.

"You're scared because...?" Alabast asked, his brows furrowing as he wondered if he's friend was going to say what he thought he was going to say.

"I'm scared because I kind of liked what I did."

The yellow dragon released a sigh, feeling himself get locked into a situation he wasn't expecting to be placed in. Brock was most likely talking about the kiss. He instinctively touched his lips, as he remembered the two of them sharing the intimate moment. What was worse was that even he was unsure of what that meant. He himself was far too shocked to really think about that the kiss meant as a whole. But one thing he was sure though, was the fact the kiss was serious and wasn't done as a joke.

The yellow dragon walked over and pulled himself into a hug. "It's okay, Brock, it's okay," he cooed. "You're going to be okay," he spoke softly.

His friend slowly stopped shaking as he melted into the embrace. It was as if Alabast's comforting hug was all he needed to relax. Alabast figured his friend was probably having a crisis of character.

Brock mumbled a thank you, and the two locked eyes at that moment. A warm smile was on the purple dragon's face. If it were any other time, the resulting closeness between them and the lack of personal space would have been a source of embarrassment, and the two would have been quick to rectify it. But now...like it was yesterday, it only felt more appropriate.

The two dragons, in that moment in time. It felt right.

Brock returned the intimacy, his body seemingly acting on its own. He leaned forward, in an effort to kiss Alabast once more.

But before their lips could have met, the knob of the front door turning brought both of them back to reality. The two dragons were immediately out of each other's arms as fast as a lightning bolt.

"Oh, Brock," came surprised voice of the dragon's roommate.

"Marvin, hey..." Brock's voice came out sounding more meek than he intended it to be.

The black bull stood in front of them. He took out the earphones he had plugged into his ears. "I'm surprised you'd have guests this early." Whether the bull saw what they position they were in and decided to not comment on it, or was just ignorant of the situation, Alabast couldn't tell. But he was glad that he wasn't saying something either way. Brock was still struggling with himself at the current moment. "I'll be in the bathroom in case you need anything. I worked up a sweat jogging."

Marvin smiled at Alabast as he passed by, and the dragon returned it in kind. When the bull was out of earshot, the yellow dragon turned to his friend who was leaning on the wall. "We'll talk about this, alright?"

"This?"

"Yes, this." Alabast locked eyes with Brock. "We'll talk about this some other time. For now, I should go."

Whether it was by sheer coincidence or something else, the talk never came. Alabast and Brock found themselves way too busy to find the time to actually chat with one another. They did, however, stay as good friends, and while the event did in fact happen, the two pretended like it was just a drunken ramble that was best left forgotten. They both relegated it as one of those crazy stories you would have back when you were young in college; a drunken story that you hazily remember when you were at that one crazy party.

"Boss."

Alabast admittedly forgot that he actually kissed Brock that one time. It was amusing to think that it's been that many long years already since that thing happened between them. He and Brock remained in contact with one another, even growing closer. Maybe it was true that friends you make in college stay with you forever.

"Boss."

But now as Alabast remembered the kiss, he found himself tapping his lips instinctively. The memory was becoming clear to him like it had only happened yesterday. Now that it was at the forefront of his mind, he couldn't think of anything else. The match has been lit inside him and the flames of curiosity was becoming an inferno. The dragon always enjoyed Brock's company, even back when they were in college. He was the one that helped him keep the feeling of loneliness away. The one serving as a strong pillar of support against an ever changing world around him. After graduation, they went their separate ways but they did their damndest to keep in touch with one another. It was long and arduous but some could say that their friendship only grew stronger in the absence of one another.

Even as Alabast met knew people, experienced various hardships, successes and struggles of his own, in the back of his mind he was always grateful to have Brock with him every step of the way. The dragon's friendship with him was something he treasured. Alabast found himself smiling slightly. When he put his thoughts like that, he sounded like he had feelings for the dragon.

"Boss!"

Alabast dropped the wrench he was holding and it barely missed his foot on the floor. It clanged loudly, the sound bringing his thoughts to a grinding halt and situation him back into reality. His eyes focused once more and he found himself staring at his companion who was looking at him with a mix of concern and confusion.

"Are you okay, Boss?" the lupine asked, cocking his head to the side.

Alabast blinked, still reeling slightly. He eventually regained his composure and cleared his throat. "S-sorry about that. I was just remembering something."

The lupine looked skeptical. "Uh huh..." he replied, nodding but clearly not buying it. He then shook his head and shrugged. "Well, I got those papers you wanted me to look over."

"Papers?" Alabast asked. His mind took a second to catch up to him. "For who was this again?"

"For Mr. Vasil's car."

"OH RIGHT! Right...thank you." Alabast realized that maybe zoning out at work wasn't the best of ideas. "So what did you find out?"

Giving his boss one more look, the lupine then answered, "well sir, the dragon wanted..."

It was hours later by the time Alabast headed out of the car shop.

The sky was beginning to darken but the yellow dragon wasn't going to let the souring weather ruin his afternoon. He was looking forward to hanging out with his best friend, even more so now that his mind was still recovering from the reminiscing he was doing earlier. Alabast still found himself wanting to ask Brock why did he do what he did. But as the dragon stopped by at a nearby store to get something, the question of 'should he ask' made itself known. It's been years since it had happened. Years since that event became nothing more than ancient history for the both of them. Would it have been right for him to have even brought it up?

Maybe the reason Brock didn't bring it up was because he didn't want to remember it? Alabast remembered the lost look the purple dragon had when he held him the day after. It seemed like something shook him to the very core. Compared to how he was before, he looked fine today.

Alabast stared at the shelf of beer stored in the refrigerator in front of him. There were a lot of multicolored cans and bottles in front of him, and the dragon pondered for a bit of what to get. Eventually however, he decided to get what he considered a classic. Grabbing two pairs of the can named "Summer Sunset", the dragon made his way to the register to pay for them continuing on his way. He smiled to himself as he placed what he bought into the car. Summer Sunset was what he and Brock usually drunk when they hung out; not too strong or too light. It was perfect for a good relaxing evening.

By the time he arrived at Brock's suburban home, the sounds of thunder and the looks of raging storm clouds wasn't far off. It seemed like the weather was keen on raining this evening. The dragon hoped that Brock's yard work was finished already lest they'd be ruined by the coming rain.

His purple dragon friend had a bit of a green thumb, and it showed. Brock's home looked like a paradise in the middle of the concrete jungle. Flowers bloomed happily one side, the tree at the front of his house looked well and healthy and the vast array of pots and plants that decorated the area housed very lush looking plants. It would seem that Brock's Agricultural Science degree was paying off. Alabast reached for the doorbell and rang it, waiting for a response.

"I'm at the back!" he heard a voice call out.

The yellow dragon made his way to the back of the house where the magic really happened. Brock owned a yard where he planted his own fruits and vegetables. Amidst the healthy looking greenery, the dragon's purple scales stood out starkly. Brock was wearing his dirtied up garden overalls and was kneeling on the ground, removing some weeds that were unwelcomed at his garden.

He looked up upon hearing someone approach. "Alabast!" he cried out, standing up and stretching. "Is it that time already?'

The yellow dragon chuckled. "Yes it is. I think it's time you give it a rest. It's already late and it looks like it's going to rain too," he added, looking up at the sky."

"Yeah. That's why I had to make sure to get the garden cleaned up today to make sure nothing bad would happen in case it rained too hard." The purple dragon stood up and stretched. "But enough about that. Let's head inside. You chill for a moment while I go and get changed." Then he saw the bag Alabast was carrying with him. "Oh damn, what did you buy this time?"

"Guess."

Brock scratched his chin. "Last time you bought some sweets...I'm assuming this time it's drinks so I'll have to say beer."

"Damn, you're so good at this!" Alabast answered, showing him the can of Summer Sunset.

"Oh sweet! I love these."

"You'll get to drink them later then!"

Brock smiled. "That I will."

A few minutes later, Alabast was seated at Brock's living room. The television was turned on but the dragon was only giving it half a mind of his attention as it was directed more so to what he was seeing outside his window. The rain came no sooner after they went in, and before long it began to pour. Water crashed into the glass, spraying it like a hose out of control. Thunder boomed from the distance, flashes of yellow illuminating the gray angry skies. It seemed like it'll be a while before it would let up. The dragon was grateful that he was inside the warm cozy house instead of being outside.

Brock had taken off to get himself a chance to freshen up, take a shower and wear some decent clothing, leaving Alabast to his own devices. Brock's home was as home as any other. A shelf here, a bookcase there, and a flat table to put some knick knacks to bring the room together. There were some picture frames neatly placed on the shelf, pictures that showed the dragon at various stages in his life; one had him with his family, another at a birthday party when he was what seemed like five years old. It was when Alabast saw the photo of him and Brock in college at an event that he had already forgotten was when the yellow dragon stopped.

Thoughts of his earlier musing came to the forefront of his mind and he found himself feeling nervous and anxious, for what, he still didn't understand. Here he was meeting his best friend like any other day of the week, and yet...something about it felt different. Was it because he happened to remember what had transpired between them back when they were younger? It was never brought up ever again so it might as well not have happened in the first place.

Alabast was taken out of his thoughts when the purple dragon announced his entrance into the room. "Sorry about that," Brock said. He was rubbing the top of his head with a towel, and was now wearing loose fitting clothing. It was a more comfy grey tank top and black shorts.. He walked over to the side and hung his wet towel before heading back to join his friend in the living room.

"It's fine," Alabast replied, sitting back down. He directed his attention back towards the movie being played on the television. Or was it a series? He wasn't sure which it was but from how he understood it, it was a dragon fighting against a being called a human in what seemed like a tournament and each of them had powers to fight each other with.

Either way, he enjoyed the company with his friend more so than the entertainment they had for the evening, and that was what mattered. The two shared drinks with one another, passing small talk whilst letting the program play on in front of them. However, their relaxing night was soon cut short when a loud crack was heard from the distance, followed by a thunderous boom. The lights flickered before turning off completely.

The two dragons were blanketed in darkness.

"Oh damn it," Brock cried out, fumbling for his phone. "I hate it when this happens."

Just then, another crack of thunder emanaged from the heavens before seemingly crashing down somewhere close to them. A flash of bright light illuminated through the windows and the two dragons were privy to seeing a tree literally get struck by lighting. The trunk was split into two, and proceed to tumble towards the road entangling power lines along with it. This resulted into it getting dragged, before snapping, releasing sparks of electricity.

"Welp, that's going to take a while to fix," Alabast commented, noting the destruction of the fallen tree a few meters from them.

"I'll have to call the power company to get that sorted out completely," Brock said, dialing the number on his phone.

"Do you know where the candles are?" he asked, turning on the flashlight.

"Yeah, it's at the kitchen."

A few moments later, the dragons sat back down once more, the rain still pouring outside. In front of them were a few candles they bothered to light to give them something to fight the darkness with. The flame flickered lazily, casting dull shadows in the dimly lit living room. With the power out, the two decided to just kick back and enjoy the cool drinks they had left going for them.

"The power company said they'll be on the scene in an hour or so."

Alabast took a swig at his beverage. "That's great. I'm glad at least they can fix it soon." He glanced at his friend and decided to catch up with him. "So, how's the garden going anyway?"

"It's going great, actually," Brock answered. "The flowers are blooming quite nicely, so there's that. Give or take a few more days and I'll be sure to have some fruits to harvest too." He finished with a smile, quite clearly proud of his accomplishments.

"I see that college degree of yours is really paying off."

Brock grinned. "How about you? How's the shop doing?"

Alabast leaned on the couch. "It's so and so. I had the pleasure of fixing Mr. Vasil's car, so that's fun." The dragon then continued on to ramble, telling Brock how his day went and whatnot. It was pretty much small talk that the two appreciated to have as it kept the silence and boredom at bay. Eventually however, Alabast's words ran dry and the two fell silent once more. Just as Alabast was about to ask something to try and start conversation again, Brock spoke up.

"Is everything alright?"

Alabast's brow rose. "Huh? Yeah, everything's fine."

"No, I mean, is everything alright?" Brock asked, looking at him seriously. "You seem kind of out of it."

The dragon laughed lightly. "Was it that obvious?" He sat upright and released a sigh he wasn't aware he was holding. "I've just been thinking as of late."

"About what?"

"About us."

The statement made Brock pause, cocking his head to the side and raising a brow. "Meaning...?"

"I mean what happened to us," Alabast clarified. He then glanced at Brock and said, "I was thinking about when we met back at college earlier today and well...I remember the time when you and I...we..."

Brock remained silent, but his eyes told him that he quickly realized what Alabast was referring to.

"When we kissed each other..." Alabast finished. "Do you remember that?"

There was a brief pause before Brock responded. He downed his drink first, seemingly contemplating first. He eventually placed his empty can down the table and nodded, saying, "yes, I do. It was during New Year's."

"We never got to talking afterwards," Alabast continued, feeling nervous for reasons he couldn't pinpoint himself. It was like opening a box he had kept stored at the back corner of his mind. "Do you remember that? You said you wanted to ask me something."

Brock twiddled his thumbs on the sofa chair, his eyes watching the dancing flame of the candle. The rain was still pouring outside and the thunder roaring at the far distance, but all of it mellowed out and devolved into nothing but white noise now. He turned to look at Alabast who was watching him. A smile gently tugged at the corner of his lips. "I still do," he answered. "I'm surprised you still remember that."

"It just happened to came up is all," Alabast answered. "What was it anyway?"

Brock sighed. The purple dragon hesitated for a brief moment. He was clearly trying to find the right words. "I was...confused, Alabast," he began. "I admit, I was glad that I met you during that party when we happened to come across one another. By only having a short moment of time of spend with one another, it was clear to me that we were going to hit it off quite well." He smiled, remembering the days they spent together fondly back in college. "You were the first friend I made in a foreign place filled with nothing but strangers to me. You were...a safe harbor, of sorts."

Alabast blushed a little, not expecting to be complimented like this.

"Being in college like that," Brock continued, "I never imagined how...lonely it could feel. Sure, I made friends socialized with people but like...it felt like I was missing something. The mix of being homesick and being in a new environment didn't help either. But then...when I was with you, that feeling went away. It was like...I felt whole again."

The yellow dragon remained silent, listening intently.

"But that made me feel confused. Even more so when I kissed you..."

"Ah..." It was as if he was seeing Brock in a new light. All the previous interactions they had with one another.

"That's why I strived to keep in contact with you after we graduated. I didn't...I didn't want to lose you," Brock answered, his voice almost lowering to that of a whisper. "I guess you could say I...started to have feelings for you."

The confession struck Alabast like a truck speeding down the freeway. Hearing it himself for the first time, everything in his mind seemingly clicked into place. It all made sense, and yet, for the longest time he was blind to it. The way Brock acted, the way he addressed him, the way they interacted; all of it finally made sense. It was like the mystery that always had an answer staring him right in the face. It was so obvious, he couldn't help but feel stupid for not figuring it out right from the start. The yellow dragon was brought back down to reality however when he heard a sniffle coming from the person he was talking to. Brock was wiping the tears that were welling up from his eyes.

"I-I'm sorry, I'm normally not this emotional..." he let out a weak laugh. "It's just..."

"It's fine," Alabast replied, reaching over to wipe the tears that were streaming from the dragon's eyes. "Why didn't you tell me sooner however?"

"I was..." Brock looked away. "I was unsure...there were a lot of things I had to think about and well...I wasn't even sure if you liked me that way."

"Oh you big oaf," Alabast said, pulling his friend closer to him. "Why do you think I still hung out with you every other week or so? Of course I like you," he answered. He pulled the dragon into a comforting tight hug.

The rain continued to pour outside, accentuated by the thunder continuing to ravage the concurrent skies. The dragons inside however, revelled in the warmth they shared with one another, happy to be in each other's loving embrace. For a that brief moment in time, everything felt right. Brock briefly pulled away from Alabast then leaned forward to kiss the dragon once more, hesitation gone entirely. Alabast himself melted into the kiss, his mind at ease at what they were doing.

Eventually they broke apart, and Alabast smiled. "Are you still confused?"

Brock shook his head. "Not anymore."

Letting the mood of the room take them, Alabast continued forward, leading with a kiss. Brock happily kissed back, letting the other dragon's hands roam all over him. A curious hand snaked its way down his tank top, pressing gently on his chest. The two broke apart and the purple dragon got the message, removing his tank top and letting it fall on the floor below them. Without skipping a beat, they continued at it again, kissing like two lovers eager to get at one another. Gone were the hesitation, the reluctance; they were all replaced by pure desire and the want to be with one another. The idea of finally putting down all the defenses and just enjoying the friendship they shared over the years of their time spent together.

Feeling warmed up, Alabast continued, whispering sweet nothings as he peppered Brock's face with his kisses. He even went so far as to gently nibble on Brock's neck, making the dragon release a cute yelp in response.

"S-stop!" Brock said helplessly. "That tickles..."

Alabast didn't let up however and continued his ministrations, doubling down entirely. Not wanting to be overtaken, Brock decided to play Alabast's game. Reaching forward, the dragon grabbed Alabast's back side, prompting the yellow dragon to stop and moan out in response. Sensing the dragon's weakness, Brock pressed onwards, grabbing a handful of Alabast's ass through his pants and squeezing it accordingly.

"Look..." Alabast replied, looking half annoyed, half pleased with how things were going. There was even a light blush across his cheeks. "Why don't we continue this somewhere more private?"

A few moments later, the doors to Brock's bedroom swung open and the two dragons barged in. Hands were all over each other, and Alabast was frantically doing his best to remove his shirt. Brock helped him out of it, throwing it to the side unceremoniously. Brock's curious hands roamed across Alabast's broad chest, clearly happy to finally have this all for himself. No words were shared between the two, and they quickly walked over to the bed.

As if an unspoken decision between them was made, Brock sat at the edge of the bed. Alabast knelt in front of him and smiled earnestly. Clearly etched on Brock's shorts was his member, and it left little to the imagination. A slight drool escaped from the side of his lips as he pulled down the dragon's shorts. Brock's member swung free. It would seem the purple dragon was going commando that evening. Alabast's eyes went wide. Sure he had seen the dragon nude before, back when they were in college, but to see it in all of its glory fully presented to him like this. There wasn't a feeling like it in the world.

He reached outwards, grabbing the pulsating member in his hand. It throbbed slightly, a bead of pre escaping from the tip and leaking down towards the side. Brock groaned at his teasing squeeze, and instinctively thrust forward, clearly wanting more. With a smile on his face, Alabast was only happy to oblige, leaning forward to plant a tender kiss at the tip of the dragon's cock.

A jolt of pleasure wracked Brock's body. Even more so when Alabast went so far to engulf his engorged member into his mouth. Lewd slurps and sensual sounds emanated from the bedroom as the dragon began to give the Brock the pleasure he so seeked. Alabast meticulously used his tongue, swirling it at the tip of the hot cock to make sure to get more of that sweet pre that was now beginning to flow endlessly. It was obvious that Brock was roaring for some action. Using his free hand, Alabast reached forward and carefully massaged the dragon's balls. He played with it in his hands, and was happy to find that Brock was squirming under his expert tongue.

Brock cursed under his breath, squeezing his eyes shut in an effort to control himself. He began to see starts just from the sheer explosion of pleasure wracking his body. But the dragon disciplined himself. The last thing he wanted was to buck into Alabast's face, even though his entire body was telling him to do that accordingly. The dragon's face scrunched up into a mix of frustration and pleasure. His hands gripped the bed sheets tightly, the whites beginning to show on his knuckles. Brock's breathing quickened. With the way Alabast was sucking, he was going to blow his fuse real quick.

Just when he was about to tap out, the dragon let up. Wiping the drool that was leaking from the side of his face, Alabast smiled. "I don't want you to blow just yet."

Brock was quietly pleased with the decision. He didn't want to ruin things when they were just getting warmed up. Alabast wasted no time in getting to the swing of things. The yellow dragon undressed himself in front of Brock, giving the dragon almost a show for him. Brock was more than happy to see this upfront, stroking his cock idly in the process. Alabast was just as well built, if not, even slightly more so than Brock. Working with cars all day and lifting heavy tools really did wonders for the dragon's body. So when Alabast moved forward climbed onto the bed with him, Brock's hands were all over the dragon's well toned figure. The two kissed once more, not wanting to be separated. Their cocks were squeezed in between their dragonic bodies, clearly making a mess on their respective chests.

But inevitably the foreplay ended and it was time to move to the main event. Alabast broke away from Brock's figure, only to move back slightly and straddle the dragon by the hips. Brock wasn't sure what Alabast was doing until the dragon took hold of his lower half. Alabast then proceeded to squat on his crotch, with Brock's cock pointed straight at him. His cock was quite slick enough with all the pre leaking out it plus the oral he had received earlier.

A groan escaped Alabast's lips as Brock's cock made contact with his ass. It was bigger than he anticipated and it was probably bigger than anything he had taken before. He knew for sure that he wasn't going to be walking straight tomorrow morning. Either way, the dragon continued onward, taking things at his own pace. Brock's cock spread him wide open, parting like the Red Sea. Brock on the other hand was offering his words of support, but he himself was waging a battle of control. He wanted to take things slow. It was clear that his cock was proving to be a challenge for Alabast. The last thing he wanted was to accidentally thrust into the poor dragon and make things worse.

Bit by bit, inch by inch, his cock disappeared into the dragon's warm ass. Alabast's expression shifted to that of one in pain, before that of one in control, before lastly to that of a person relishing in the accomplishment of the task at hand. Even Brock was amazed at how far the dragon was stretching himself.

Alabast cursed under his breath, leaning forward for support. "You're big, Brock," he commented.

"Are you okay?" Brock asked, holding the dragon.

"I'm fine. You're size is just the way I like them." He struggled to give the dragon a confident smile. "But just take it easy, okay?"

Brock nodded and began his thrusts. It was slow, sensual, and made out of love and passion. There was no rush to take things. It was just the two of them, on the bed, having sex with one another under the covers of darkness. Brock held Alabast closely, giving him loving kisses on the neck as the dragon began to rhythmically bounce on his crotch. The bed creaked and the floorboards groaned under the weight of the two dragons above them.

Inevitably however, Alabast began to get used to the size and whispered for his partner to kick things into gear. Not wanting to disappoint, Brock proceeded to do so, his thrusts picking up pace. The bed soon began to rock with their efforts, the room being filled with their cries of pleasure. Brock held onto Alabast tightly and the other dragon returned the favor, holding each other in a tight embrace filled with passion. But that was when Brock felt his balls ache. He was nearing his end.

Unable to hold things much longer, he gave one mighty thrust into Alabast, ejaculating deep into him. Ropes upon ropes of white hot cum sprayed itself into the dragon's ass. As if on cue, even Alabast lost control, his cock throbbing before releasing white spunk. It sprayed on his chest and onto his partner's, some even landed on Brock's face. The two dragons were entirely spent, riding each other's orgasms to end. At the end of it, Alabast fell forward into Brock's open arms, resting his tired body.

"That was...amazing..."

"That it was..."

Just then, the lights turned on from the hallway, along with the sound of electronics coming to life.

"I guess the power company just got finished," Brock commented.

"Why don't we just stay here for a while, huh?" Alabast asked.

"That is a good idea."
