Metamorphosis Chapter 1
Wolfe Razenwolf, a mature seemingly normal man begins his day in the living room. Being a hero in the last war, his house was filled with comfort, the large crescent shaped leather sofa faced towards an even more fantastic wall mounted paper thin television. His messy black hair stands tall on his head, his the eyes of a wise older gentleman sheltered by his skull. A thin french-like mustache complimented with a goatee, finishes off his face. Other than that his body is muscular, as he keeps in shape because even if you are a veteran you can be called back to war.
He lays back in his robe and pajamas flicking through stations to find anything worth watching. Dainty footsteps walk upon him as lips press against his cheek. He wasn't all alone in this house obviously. A war hero could easily obtain a wife at the very least. A wife plus all of this time gave way to offspring of course his name was Syrus. Who was at the age of 10. The younger but still mature female voice said into Wolfe's ears
"Hun, the school just called Syrus has a fever and has to be picked up" as her red hair hair sweeps down on either side of him. her chin settles on his head and says, "So do you want me to pick him up?" Wolfe rubs his beard and a smile appears on his face, "Not to sound weird but its been a good 6 years since the last time he has been anything near sick enough to pick him up, since you get to do all the fun stuff like cooking I will pick him up and see whats up" He then yawned and walked his way upstairs to the first bedroom where he slipped into some pants with his pajamas on and the put back on his slippers as he walked back down and out the door.
He tried to be patient about his driving but well this was his only child and he was sick, for once. He was excited but at the same time worried. He did enjoy the idea that the school wouldn't allow him back until a day after the symptoms disappear. As his red sports car pulled up to the school he could see why he had his child enrolled here. A mix of all types, human, furred and scaled in the same building. He sighs, "I feel so old when i remember how i was taught things"
He walks into the school, still wearing his robe pants and slippers, the receptionist asked, "Sir what is your business here" curtly as they have to somehow protect several thousand children if the situation ever arises. He coughed warming up his vocal cords and answered with his relaxing voice, "I am here to pick up my son Syrus, who has a fever" And so the receptionist cooled off and showed him the way.
As he walked into the nurse's office the nurse said. "He is resting but well it looks like the fever could get worse, I would take him to a hospital but his records show no treatment previously given to him by hospitals" Wolfe smiled and was he walked towards his body he said, "Thats because I am a professional, no need for a hospital" Indeed he had experience with medicine before he had gone off to war.
The nurse jumped in surprise not knowing of his arrival. as the Dad poked at the tan boy's red cheeks. He looked a lot like his dad, black hair same nose and ears, which made the dad smile every time he looked. As the boy opened his dark red eyes he would turn his head and cough. The small difference was, unlike Wolfe, Syrus had longer hair like his mother, those deep red eyes, and the male version of her small lips. Making him look somewhat a less spoken person.
The nurse said, "I think its probably exhaustion though nothing to big if he gets his rest. They say he does very well in sports here and plays on the communities young soccer team. Maybe in the future you should make sure he doesn't over exert himself." Wolfe ignored the nurse, he knew all about his son, it was his only child after all. "Tuckered yourself out huh? Can you troop it to the car?" As he said the boy seemed to be somewhat unresponsive.
Wolfe picked up the boy with no worries without remembering to get homework. Syrus left everything in his locker, he had always finished most of his work here: done at lunch. during free time, or else he would stay after. As Wolfe picked up his son he said to the nurse, "Tell his teachers he might be out for a week and to organize the work he will need on his return, I am sure that will make him less bored at home and will make him rest more when he is conscious." "Guess ya couldn't" he said believing that his boy was in a state where he could barely hear but not react.
It wasn't long before they were both back home again. The house was nestled in country-like suburbs. They were so far from the school that buses wouldn't pick Syrus up and bring him to school, rather he was brought there. The large house rested on a hill, good against floods and peaceful it wasn't such a bad spot. As they reached the house Syrus seemed to feel more relaxed and his breathing resembled that of someone sleeping. It was probably better that way, he needed his rest.
Some would ask why the war hero didn't shelter and enroll his prodigy of a son into a private school. "What fun would that be?" would be Wolfe's answer. He had no clue what had brought Syrus to such a point in exhaustion but somewhere he was cradling the thought that if it were a day, that he could expect it during a weekend.
Wolfe brings his son into his house with one arm to open the doors. as his wife shouts at him, "Be careful with our son now, he is probably like this because he keeps adventuring with you during the weekdays." Wolfe just responded, "Bah no way" Straight away Wolfe puts Syrus into his own room and bed, covering him with light sheets because of the time of the year. As he lays the sleeping boy into bed he says to himself, "All things in this universe once started small, over time things change and become stronger. When many years pass and things can't get any stronger they evolve and exceed those limitations." As he turns off the light and closes the shades in Syrus's room. "They say isolation makes things evolve faster huh?" and the walks out of the room.
He returns to his room retrieving some of his medical supplies, which for some reason always look cleaned and updated with the current medicine of the age. A simple cool packet placed on the warm forehead of the child a cup with some pills that had a note saying, "doubt you will take these but they should help" and a nod from the concerned but still easy going father, "Your mom will be up in a little while with some soup... bah if she didn't cook better than me i could get to do the fun part" he would chuckle as he walked out of the room.
As the day moved forward into night, the parents would check their son, and once it cooled down and the day wasn't bright Wolfe would open the window and open the curtains. The shimmering rays of the moon reflected down on Syrus as he rested carefully in bed. Though against the hopes of this peaceful and caring family, something was lurking in the darkness of the night waited on the proper moment to turn the order of things upside down.
Thanks for reading the first installment in the series I will be taking my time to post each following chapter probably at the rate of once a week. Nothing to wet your pants for yet but comments on what you thought are still appreciated. This post itself is not adult oriented but trust me the series itself is and thus i will keep the whole entire series under the adult heading if possible.
