The otter's cookie-like ears flicked as the merry jingle of the door announced another addition to the already worrisome late-morning crowd. Mercifully, a hearty number were busy perusing among the bins, fingers flicking with dexterous familiarity from title to title, issue-number to issue-number as each sought out their own particular pleasure.
Actually-a-lot-o'-comics still did a surprising amount of business, even after the advent of the digital age. Maybe it was the smell of the fine pages, or the draw of owning rare prized pieces of art, or the rich purple colour-scheme, mostly hidden by dazzling arrays of posters and pop-culture statues, or perhaps they simply lived in a town of unfulfilled hoarders. Dylan's inclination was the latter.
Scanning several comics and mindful to doublecheck nothing else had snuck between any pages, the lutrine slid them snugly within a patterned paper bag, and after the merry chime of the customer's hastily tapped wrist-watch, he waved them off, with a 'Have a super day!', only to regard the line still waiting for him.
Rolling his ankles in his high-tops he gave a soft groan for the soft pops he felt, the padded mat doing little to alleviate his statue-strain. Watching people leaving comics out, despite numerous bright signs insisting on just the opposite, spying empty racks that he hadn't had a chance to fill at all, thinking of the delivery of this month's Marvellous Morpheus issues that he was itching to read. He could only take a steadying breath, hitch his smile and brace as the next artisan collector approached with several fresh issues to paw.
At the very least, the phone-number had been put to pasture in lieu of the web-page kept well up-to-date. Between the jingle of the door-bell and the chirpy tone of the phone, he'd have gone full Everyman months ago.
He wasn't convinced that wasn't what had happened to the last employee.
Another jingle drew his grey eyes up, and his heart leapt. The tall black labrador making his way through the store with a merry, casual air, his vibrantly dyed hair a pastel imitation of the walls, his stylized shirt of the day draping over his ample middle, and the thick jeans that hugged a cushy caboose, and obscured a pair of sneakers.
Catching his employee's eyes, Tris made his way about the counter, to earn a soft ruffle along his middle from the ott, making his tail wag promptly.
'Thank Titanium you're here.' Dylan murmured earnestly, before squeaking a little as the broad canine gently wedged himself about the ott, broad belly squishing against his back and somewhat pinning him to the counter as he sidled to the till beside him.
The guilty smile on the dog's face as Dylan playfully huffed at him brought all the forgiveness he needed. Not that he ever really needed to ask.
And under their combined efforts, the line was demolished, sale after sale beeping through the system, until finally it was just the habitual browsers that made up the mainstay of bodies in the store.
Dylan took a deep breath, as if he'd forgotten to do so, and let his shoulders sag, his eyes lidding in a silent moment of zen. Blinking them open, he found Tris standing before him, his arms open and inviting.
The ott gratefully sank into the dog's front, to savour the bracing squeeze from his manager. After working for a self-owned business, the ott couldn't imagine going anywhere else as the cushy hold enfolded him. The soft sweet scent of vanilla body-wash, and fresh laundered clothing was quite a soothing balm for his frayed, but readily repairing nerves.
'While it's quiet, do you think you could..?' The labrador began after a few moments, wagging merrily from the hug. Dylan perked and straightened up with a nod.
'Yessir!'
And slipping out from behind the counter, he got to work neatening up. Comics finding their homes again, displays neatened, and the odd question answered. Slipping behind the counter again to continue his mission, Tris turned with him.
The counter's fortunate, or subjectively otherwise position: nudged up closer to the wall to allow for more stock, gave precious little room to manouver as the dog's tum met the ott and lightly pressed him against the wall. Cotton-clad flesh lightly moulded about the lutrine's frame, making Dylan squeak despite himself as Tris beamed down to him.
'Oh! Jerry should be by later with another delivery. He texted me to say they'd messed up the run for Zuma.'
Bracing his arms atop the soft tum and lightly itching the sides of the lab's tum, Dylan smiled.
'There should be room over by window three.' the ott offered, causing the wagging canine to turn and regard the position, freeing his coworker by proxy.
'Perfect!'
Wriggling back through the stock-room curtain to fetch stock for the stands he'd left hanging bare, the ott hefted the box neatly from among the stacks of other bits and pieces. He sidled back out into the store, watching the lab leaning on the counter, chatting with a short pink moogle, and a silver-furred wolf.
The casual pose let Tris' shirt droop, baring the dark underside of his tummy. Rudder wriggling gently, the ott tried to ignore the soft heat in his cheeks at a mark or two on that soft middle, as he lifted the box, and carefully tried to wriggle himself behind the playful pooch.
Dylan was certain he caught the barest hint of a playful grin from the tall figure, and as he tried moving past, the dog's hips butted back to moosh the ott against the wall once more, tail wagging keenly as the ott huffed and squirmed gently.
The duo chatting with Tris smirked at his predicament, whilst the pup coyly feigned his ignorance of his pinned co-worker. Continuing their talk, as the ott kept trying to wriggle past, shimmying and gasping when he slipped free. Those hips eased forwards again, earning a soft bat at the keenly waggling tail and a tilted glance from the lab, his floppy ears and lavender eyes bright and perked with playful energy.
Murmuring sheepishly, the otter continued his task, filling a few stands, glancing towards the counter to watch the pup almost subconsciously petting his middle. The soft sway and odd wobble from the interaction drawing a gentle thump from his rudder.
The afternoon brought on a fresh batch of customers, and Dylan was soon back behind the counter, fetching orders and chatting with familiar faces, as he bagged and scanned. The taller otter with rather heavily braided hair grinned as he pulled out an aged looking comic.
'I thought you guys would appreciate this one.' Garn remarked proudly, careful in his handling of the well-loved pages. 'Issue one!'
Dylan smiled keenly and nodded as the first rendition of Marvellous Morpheus was displayed.
'Ooh! Back in the early days, just him and the world-building. Though Aucturus and Titanium were such fantastic additions.' Dylan smiled, turning a page to admire the slightly faded inks. 'Tris! Check it out!' The ott chirped as his coworker saw off his customer with a keen wag and their eponymous farewell, before sidling over.
The broad press of the dog's middle against his back and side somewhat pinned Dylan as the tall lab leaned over him to look over the comic.
'I miss my first copy..' the dog pouted. 'I can't believe I gave it to my friend.'
The disheartened tone made the pinned otter smile despite himself. Easing his hand about, he softly kneaded along his coworker's middle, feeling it give a gentle reverberation against his touch.
'Well, much as I'd like to sell this one, it's my favourite one.' Garn chuckled apologetically, letting the duo finish the issue, before carefully storing it in a plastic sleeve. 'Oh! Has my order come in, by chance?'
Tris tilted his head thoughtfully and smiled. 'Could you go check in the manilla folder by the old display signs?' He asked down to his coworker, easing back to let the ott free. The dog squirmed keenly as Dylan nodded and turned to ruffle that tum with both hands, before vanishing behind the curtain again.
Garn stood off to one side, smiling patiently.
Standing amidst the busy back-area, Dylan scratched at his headfur. There was no manilla folder like Tris had said.. At least, not where he'd said. The dog knew the store like the back of his hand. Any and all incomings, he could remember obscure orders whose paperwork had vanished, and could pick familiar black-listed faces instantly.. It was surely here. He checked over several shelves, ruffling through paper on a desk, only to pad towards the store empty-handed, glancing aside to consider an area he'd looked..
His stride stopped as he sank against a cushy mass, which he recognised instantly for the labrador. Tris' broad arms slid about him warmly, and lifting him with a slight tilt of his body, walked back into the stock area.
'I forgot,' Tris smiled in an endearing way that said he hadn't forgotten at all. 'It's already under the counter. He messaged to say he was coming in.'
'But-.. you never forget that stuff.' Dylan gave a playfully accusing squint, making the dog wag anew.
'Nope. But it's also just about your time to clock off, isn't it?' Tris asked, rocking a little as he hugged his coworker. Glancing up to a red and black clock on the wall, the ott nodded.
'Yeah.. Why..?'
'Looks like it's going to be a busy run tonight.' The dog murmured softly, hands kneading along the otter's back softly. 'I might not get a chance to sit down for a lunch-break.'
Dylan blinked a little, before the dog leaned in to nuzzle lightly along his cheeks, giving a soft groom with his curious, ebon-coloured tongue. Understanding awoke in the ott's eyes. His cheeks rose with colour unabated as he kneaded on the soft, groaning tummy.
'Over-time, huh..?'
'Well, maybe more Inside-time.' The lab grinned hopefully, lapping his thick tongue slowly along the ott's face as Dylan considered, or perhaps simply indulged in the view and felt the warm wash of his coworker's breath over his face.
A simple nod was all the dog needed, and his form gave a delighted wriggle to receive it. Softly squeezing his shorter friend against his belly a little more eagerly, Tris almost savoured the deeper gurgle of his stomach, keenly aware it was soon to receive a new occupant. The ott's cookies perked as he felt it too, and cuddled about the large dog, leaning up into the grooming and smoothly parting jaws.
They were both aware of the time-constraints though, and even as the lab's jaws unfurled over Dylan's face, smoothly sliding over past chin and ears, a faint pine escaped the depths of that inky gullet for the lost opportunity to indulge. At least this time.
Flesh softly undulated against his face, making the otter nose deeper. The soft rhythmic pulse of the lab's gullet soon gaining a hold on his features to begin streamlining the lutra's ingestion as Tris politely moved his arms to support his friend's hips.
The ott obligingly rested his hands over the canine's wrists, holding himself straight as the gullet before him relaxed, and a steady pull from the plush pup sank him several inches into the thick, pillow embrace smothering over him.
Flesh squished, a pulse raced, and the body about him thumped, glrrn'd and bubbled in a visceral symphony, felt as much as the ott heard through his pinned ears as he sank into the roiling depths of Tris' throat.
He could envision the dog looking so delighted, even in the midst of snarfing him down, that tail wagging to near-blur levels, and probably threatening some stock. The lidded eyes behind thick rimmed glasses, and the soft rise of colour as he delighted in the flavour.. Maybe the texture.. Or the squirms.. He opted to stir his legs and wriggle his body to give a little more of that tactile sensation as he felt his arms pinned to his sides and his torso readily sealed deep in the pup's throat.
The snug squish of the lab's cardia about his face brought a soft gasp from the ott as he found himself so readily being divested into that belly. A small noise of disappointment escaping him for a very similar reason to his plush, pup-like predator's..
Feeling the soft pluck of his shoes from his feet, Dylan blushed and wriggled his toes before Tris' soft hands cupped over his soles. The resulting push saw his face impacting the pillowy folds of the stomach proper, and his modestly flexible frame curling about into the undulating sea of slick, satiny blackness. The click of those broad chops about his paws, the squish of that tongue rippling for the final swallow.. And then the ebbing grasp of consecutive swallows saw the ott rather spilling out into the cushy belly. The walls rippling and settling about him in a constant, cozy cuddle as the dog panted gently and supported his belly by hands.
For the extra mass of his coworker, his shirt bared a little of the curve of his gravid middle, the soft bulges muted for Dylan's modest compliance with his 'Inside-time'. The lab didn't have much to worry about from customers spotting anything out of the ordinary.
Giving his belly a soft cuddle, the lab smiled and returned to the shop floor, his tail indeed wagging avidly behind himself.
A customer stood waiting at the counter, reading one of their purchases-to-be and looking up to the lab as he padded to the counter. His belly pressing up against the solid back of it, Tris couldn't help a small smile as he felt Dylan give a bashful wriggle for the walls squeezing about him. A tiny, whispered, plaintive 'Puuuppy..!' perceptible to his floppy ears growing his smile to a grin as he got back to work.
Tucked within Tris' belly, the ott found there was scarcely more room than when it was the two of them apart trying to move about. The weighty sway and brush of the counter against him occasionally earning a soft gasp, and subtle kneadings from the lab's broad hands gently apologizing for any bumps when he was shifting this way and that..
At least until the Jingle of the door-bell announced a black spotty cat who fronted up to the counter, a familiar jaguar in a shirt baring the moniker of Dr. Spots.
Dylan's ears twitched to hear the dog's voice gently rumbling about him. The duo beginning to chat, he adjusted himself in preparation. Feeling the soft press of the hands beneath him, his weight being settled up a little, not to hang under the counter, but to lean on it.. And the dog's weight settled atop him, a steady, compressing mass that squeezed the walls up about him, or perhaps, him down deeper and deeper into them.
Tris smiled as his steady settling had the delightful intended effect, as his belly gave a curious glrrrn! and shrank in a smooth effort beneath him. By the same token, he felt the too-large (And still too small) shirt to tighten about his form, and his feet and legs to fill out pants and shoes by a similar degree.
Playing down his sudden gaining of several inches of height by stirring some before the spotted cat, Tris smiled as the topic turned to Arci's side comics...
Locking the door in the wake of the last customers, the lab wagged merrily to himself. He padded about the store, blushing as his temporary new size threw off his perception just enough to bump on the odd stand or comic-bin edge while he turned off the lights and headed for the back-room.
Sinking onto a large, aged office-chair he plucked up the hem of his shirt to bare his broad ebon belly. The mark sitting over his naval an almost tribal, three-pronged swirl in silver. Three dots within empty space among the prongs: honey-brown, white, and deep green.
It was a curious symbol, but the dog wagged as he brushed a hand over Dylan's mark all the same, and shivered his delight to feel the warm thrum of consciousness beneath.
'Well, we're all closed up.' Tris murmured to his belly as he slowly kneaded along it. 'Are you ready to...?' the dog's tone softened hopefully.
His belly gave a soft gurgle, and another gentle pulse from the ott's awareness.
'You sure?' the lab's floppy ears perked and his tail wagged. 'Alright then, tomorrow, I promise. Though you're always welcome to stay longer.'
The mark grew warmer.
