WARNING: This story contains scenes of destruction, and some mild cases of blood, but nothing too major.

So, what do you get when three angel gods come to have a picnic on a planet? Well, it may be normal to them, but to the ones below, that was the day of the end of their lives. Depends on how you look at things, but for the most part, it's all normal. Such is the case when Justin, the godly gryphon, decided to bring along Quill and Naeva to the picnic. Plus, it's quite special for the three, as it's in a place where Justin and Naeva can use Quill's obliviousness to their advantage. Quill has always been oblivious to the tiny places, but that's what he is. So this picnic turns out to be quite a pretty good one indeed~

Oh hey, I'm back! Been a while, hasn't it? I should also mention that this story is also available in Docs right here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RXnE0wvhgVKm_BeSwzjcqQKg0QHqVNmjXApHGW2mf7s/edit?usp=sharingIt contains all the nice formatting kept in it!

Uff, another story? Well, actually, yes! While this was a commission, this was done by yuccasnr after they opened up for writing a story in exchange for a game. And in this case, it was Hollow Knight, which was $15. So, I figured that it can work out well for a story featuring me, Quill and Naeva. Plus, in this story, there are other new details about the characters, especially Quill and Naeva. What do I mean by that? Well, you'll have to read the story to see for yourself.

Picnic Day

By YuccaSNR for Justin1029

On one planet, there was a huge patch of silver and gray as far as the eye could see. The city spanned near endlessly as it covered the entire surface of the continent it sat upon. Even from afar, one could see giant spires and buildings jut out from the ground, all of which would act as monuments of progress for the advanced citizens of that world. The mega-city itself almost seemed sterilized with how clean it was; its gray roads and white sidewalks were perfectly clean, having no trash or dirt to speak of while the air stayed pure and clean. Even the worst sections and neighborhoods of the futuristic city looked faultless. Those that lived within that spotless city wore formfitting suits that further hinted at their advanced standings over other civilizations upon other planets.

Towards the middle of the continent at the very heart of the colossal city, sat the tallest spire. A giant, beautifully detailed tower loomed above all others, one that could only be made with their impressive technology. Within it sat the highest, most prominent figures in their society, ones acted as respected leaders boarding on kings and queens. That tower was the crown jewel of not just the mega-city, but of the entire planet as a whole....

However, life within the giant, tranquil city was about to take an abrupt turn for the worse...

Without any sort of sign or warning, a giant, blue colored beam of light shot down from the sky down to the ground. Those directly at the impact site of the beam did not even have time to register what had happened as they were utterly vaporized within moments by the radiant azure column. Their advanced buildings and structures melted from the intense heat, the modified metal all liquefying to nothing more than molten slag that mixed in with the bubbling ground. Even those not directly hit by the beam had to endure the intense heat that its continued presence caused. Waves of high heat spread across the city, making the once temperate air go from moderate to blazing hot for miles around. Even those far, far off could feel the warmth, though it was at least at more bearable levels...

Panic quickly set in as the blazing pillar of light stuck out from the ground. Those far enough that looked up could see that the blue beam easily hit the higher points of their planet's atmosphere, nearly up into space. Some wondered if it was a sort of declaration of war or a full-on attack from another neighboring planet. It was nothing they had experienced before so none could be truly sure...

But, after only a few minutes of the glowing beam staying stationary, it would begin to quickly expand. It went from being a single column to branching off into two curved lines that met at their highest point. The bases of each glowing beam moved from each other, causing each to sweep across more structures and melting all in their path. It seemed like random destruction to those close to the infernal bands of light, but those further away had a much clearer idea of what was happening. The way the beams curved and moved apart, stopping only when they made an immense oval-like shape. Once the beams came to a halt, the created oval would be filled in with a swirling whirlpool of shimmering blue light. It was a portal... Teleportation was still a difficult form of transportation, even for their advanced civilization, so the idea of creating a portal so huge was thought to be an impossible feat, at least until then...

The immense portal stood in place for several minutes. Those closest to the portal had already been vaporized by the searing light flooding from its opening. All that was left around the portal's entrance were unrecognizable piles of molten slag that were once beautiful buildings and towers. Those farther away from the source still had to contend with a heat wave. It was not until the safety shielding, translucent, green-colored domes of energy, came up to protect the city, ensuring that they were safe from the heat. However, the green shielding didn't cover every portion of the city. While it stretched miles wide, there were still gaps that they did not cover, with most of those unprotected areas being the far fewer wealthy sections of the city. They were left to deal with the unending stream of light and heat that poured out of the portal, while those within the domes were cooled as the dome's surface dimmed to cut brightness.

People outside of the protective domes ran into their homes to defend themselves from the heat. Meanwhile, those within the shields looked at the looming portal. Was a single ship going to come out of the swirling blue oval? Perhaps it would be a fleet of smaller ships, an entire race preparing to raid their continent-wide city along with the rest of the world? Questions and possible ideas were all tossed around as a loud audio announcement rang throughout the city, one telling everyone to stay calm and take shelter. Those within the city's center, at its capital, watched from what they believed to be a safe distance. The portal still seemed quite far off from where they were. To them, the portal looked like a blue rising sun that had just broken over the horizon. If only everyone were blessed with such a high, far off position...

But something would eventually come out of the portal, something that absolutely nobody was expecting...

Justin was the first to step out of the swirling, blue portal. The angelic gryphon took a few steps forward, each one letting out muffled crunches below his sandal clad footpaws. He would look down upon the ground and was met with the sight of the expansive city, which looked more like a gray and green-lit carpet from his perspective. "Yeah, this is the perfect place.", he silently thought to himself as he scanned the city below.

Quill walked on out of the portal soon after. The giant, godly bird did not even take notice to the slight crunch he felt beneath his own huge feet. He merely walked forward and stood beside his shorter gryphon friend. "So, this is the world you wanted to take us to?" Quill curiously looked at the 'dirt' ground as he asked. "A lot of the worlds you and Naeva take us to always has such strange, gray soil..."

The much smaller angel cat, Naeva, popped on out of the portal last. Though the feline was still positively giant in her own right, she was tiny compared to her the other two titanic angels. She would only measure up to be a few inches tall relative to Quill as she perched on his shoulder. "Of course! These are the best worlds to visit after all! They're guaranteed to be empty, isn't that right, Justin?"

The big gryphon nodded. "Yup. It would be a shame if something happened to any micros. Now c'mon, we need to find a place to sit down and eat."

"Well...Alright. Lead the way."

With that, the trio began to make their way deeper into the city. The portal would quickly close behind them as the titanic bird and gryphon walked on. The angelic cat on the other hand hopped off her friend's shoulder and hovered over the gray ground as she followed closely.

The people across the city were in utter disbelief at what they saw as the macros strolled through the city. Those from afar at least had the chance to take in the details of their giant invaders. One was a gryphon that looked to be leading the other two. White feathers and fur adorned much of his body, while his arms and legs ended in sky blue. The two blue feathered wings at his back added to his angelic appearance, the pair staying folded together as he walked about. He wore little, with only an open, blue colored robe as a top. It looked outlandish for those in the city, further showing that the three were clearly from another world. At the gryphon's feet were a pair of golden sandals, footwear that would slam down into the city floor with uncaring might.

The second looked like a giant secretary bird. He stood two heads higher than the gryphon, making him look that much more imposing for the tiny people of the city. The godly avian was also covered in a thin covering of feathers from top to bottom. Unlike the gryphon, he wore a full, deep-blue robe, one that hid most of his body from view, but still left his blue, featherless hands and feet exposed... Those that looked into the divine avian's eyes could see them glowing, shining just bright enough to still be seen even in the daylight.

The third of the bunch was a much smaller, yet no less threatening feline. Her fur was mostly pure white, with the only hints of blue being at the ends of her large ears and fingertips. The robe she wore was similar to the angelic bird's, though hers seemed to hug her curvy body far more. Her golden eyes glowed as well as they left yellow streaks of light behind as she drifted and flew through the air...

Unfortunately, those within the path of the trio had no chance to take in the forms of the three gods above. All they could focus on was surviving...

Those in the way of the gryphon were often met with the sight of the undersides of his sandals. The soles of the golden footwear were darkened, dirty from constant use. The treads were especially grimy, coated with the debris from past land he had stepped on. Though, some far more recent bits could be made out: silver buildings and structures that would barely register as crumbs were getting stuck to the filth covered bottom of the sandals. Leftover chunks of the city fell from the treads and dropped to the ground as small, destructive meteors, but most stayed with the sole, forever destined to be trapped there as additional grime.

It was as if a meteor slammed down as the sandal-clad foot hit the ground. The shielding that surrounded small sections of the city did next to nothing as the green domes were instantly shattered. Those that believed they were safe were instead pulverized with such force that not even red blood stains could be formed. Their bodies had been destroyed with so much overwhelming power that their entire being was merely turned to a fine, slightly red mist that was quickly lost among the ruins of the city.

Those around the impact zone did not have it any better. The displaced air that shot out from below the sandal sent shockwaves so powerful that it was as if a massive bomb had been set off. The glowing green domes that covered parts of the city barely held, but those not under its protection were blown away with ease. The once beautiful towers were reduced to trashed scrap. The citizens burst into red mist as they were slammed by the wall of condensed air... The shockwave continued for several miles before it finally settled down to a powerful gust.

The few buildings that still stood after the footfall were in horrid condition, looking as if they would fall over at any moment. Even the tallest buildings that still stood did not even match the thickness of the mighty gryphon's sandal, showing how tiny and utterly insignificant the micros truly were in comparison...

As the sandal lifted, all that remained would be a burning print that perfectly outlined the treads of the godly gryphon's golden footwear. All life within had been snuffed out and all structures were reduced to rubble. This all would happen with every single step he took...

However, the even larger angel that followed behind caused even more total damage. His two massive, three toed talons were far bigger than the gryphon's feet, leading to much larger areas of the content-wide city to be crushed down into the ground. Terrified citizens looked up, only to see the underside of the godlike avian's foot. The once purely sky-blue sole was now darkened and dirty, filthy from walking barefoot for such a long amount of time. The accumulated grime that sat within the wrinkles of the sole was a combination of crunched up land along with the leftovers of whatever other civilizations he had tread over before.

Countless lives were lost under those soles whenever the foot landed. The shielding from the domes did nothing, and all caught under the soles were added to the grimy graveyards kept below them. The condensed wave of displaced air carried a powerful scent along with it, the noxious odor of the divine bird's musk. Those unprotected were slammed and vaporized by the shock wave, but those within the relative safety of the city domes had to deal with the leftover musk that permeated the air. The raw scent of the bird god's feet still managed to invade the protective walls, forcing all survivors to wheeze under the polluted air. To someone of the angel's size, the smell would just be noticeably strong, but for the micros, it felt as if they were inhaling smog straight from the smokestack of an old industrial factory. It would not be long before they would pass out from taking in the powerful fumes of the colossal bird's talons...

The footprints left behind had little in them. They were deeper, wider, and longer than the gryphon's... Bits of smelly grime were left within each footprint, the bits of smelly dirt acting almost like dangerous radioactive material for any that was left in the area. This went double for the parts of footprints that were around the toe pits; the deepest crevices where the toes met the foot, where grime and gunk could easily collect. Giant globs of musty grime sat there, polluting the space around it to such a degree that it would leave that section of the city a dead zone for years to come.

The third angel, the feline, was at least far smaller. She caused little destruction compared to her two massive friends, though much was still lost from her presence. She still towered over even the tallest buildings the mega city had to offer. To her, they had still only come up to her ankles at best... Her flying over the city with her divine abilities at such a massive size caused wind to drag by with a hurricane-like force, mostly felt whenever she hovered close to the ground. The advanced buildings were at least strong enough to hold from the gale level bursts of wind that came from her flying by, but that was of little help to any poor citizens that may have been outside by the time the giant goddess passed overhead. They would be kicked up with the winds, tossed and thrown in all directions with no hope of any sort of safe landing.

But there was one detail that set the giant feline apart from the other two giants... She was actually looking down at the city below. None of the city knew for sure if all three were aware of their presence or not, but it was at clear that the angelic feline knew. The small yet somewhat sadistic smirk she held along with her eyes occasionally locking onto the footprints of her bigger friends showed that she absolutely knew what was happening. She caused the least damage, yet she put the most fear into those that saw her, if only because she made it clear that the three giants weren't there on friendly terms.

Naeva continued to float behind Justin and Quill as they walked ahead. She actually had to keep herself from giggling much of the time. While Justin knew of all the micros down below, she knew Quill was still utterly oblivious. The big bird was always unaware of much smaller civilizations, which always lead to them getting stomped under foot. Meanwhile, Justin kept walking around, enjoying the crunch that came from every one of his steps. He was not actually going anywhere specific, at least until he saw something glowing brightly in the distance. It was another tower, still extremely tiny compared to the three gods, but it still stood far higher than any of the other buildings across the content. It was the heart of the city...

The shield around the giant tower was far brighter than any of the others, making it that much easier to see among the other scattered, dimly lit domes. Justin was not the only one to notice the brightly glowing half-sphere... Naeva took notice as well, flying ahead to inspect the city's center....

Those within the immense spire were in a complete panic as fear overtook them. The top leaders and high-status folk of the planet all reduced to scrambling around like a bunch of scared vermin. They would see the smaller angel hover around them, circling them from up above like a hungry vulture. What's even worse is that they'd notice that the titanic gryphon was looking straight at them as well... Though, the godly gryphon would sometimes change directions as he walked around before stopping, acting as if he were thinking of where to go next. But every time, his eyes would dart back to the main tower and slowly but surely made his way toward them while the bigger divine bird followed close behind.

The gryphon was teasing them...

Would they be stepped on like so many others that came before them? They'd watch out from the windows of their monumental tower, gazing upon the deadly talons and sandals that carelessly crushed and destroyed everything and everyone they fell upon.

"I found the perfect spot!" Naeva shouted toward her two giant friends. She could already tell Justin had a similar idea as her, but she still had to put on an act for Quill.

Justin walked on over and inspected the ground, taking a long look of the giant tower and its surrounding buildings. Even the enormous spire that acted as the centerpiece of the city was still tiny compared to Justin, with the structure's height barely reaching the thickness of his sandals. Puny, yet still far larger than everything else that civilization had made.

"Yup, looks like a good place to sit down." Justin began to lower himself, sitting while the main tower of the city was kept right in front of him... There was a series of loud crackles as the gryphon's behind met with the city, almost sounding as if he had just sat down on a pile of crunchy leaves... "C'mon, Quill. You can sit right over there." The gryphon motioned at the spot in front of him, on the opposite side of the giant tower...

"Well, alright." Quill walked on over and sat down. Another series of loud crunches sounded out from below the mountainous angel, though he still simply believed it was the odd, natural texture of the ground. He'd actually lean over and curiously inspect the floor a little more... "Hmmm, I don't think I'll ever get used to this strange dirt. You sure there aren't better planets to have lunch on?" Quill would give the 'dirt' on the ground a quick swipe with a single finger. He'd see the gray small 'rocks' and 'soil' turn to dust as he ran his clawed finger across the land's surface. Any of the strange green bubbles in his finger's path would be popped and shattered with complete ease. Thousands upon thousands of micros snuffed out in a matter of moments from that simple, causal action.

Naeva was quick to respond to her ever-oblivious friend. "Of course! These sorts of planets are by far the best to spend the day on!" Her tone was confident and had a matter of fact. The angelic cat had far more experience when it came to other planets and how they functioned, so Quill was always willing to believe her. Justin nodding in agreement to what Naeva was saying just added further confirmation.

That simple explanation was enough for Quill. He still knew little of other worlds, so he was never difficult to fool. "I see... I suppose we should pop by worlds like this more often, then. But for now, let's start eating! We can't be gone for too long."

With a simple motion of his hand, Quill warped in plates for himself and Justin, with each one gently floating down into their respective laps. Even the plates had a godly aura around them as their golden, ornate details faintly glowed with divine energy. Food was warped in soon after, sandwiches crafted in such a way to mimic what Justin had when he was mortal. Quill wasn't entirely used to it, but he was always interested in tasting new things... Next would come the chilled drinks. Large, seemingly glass cups were warped in beside Justin and Quill. They'd land on the ground with a muffled crunch as they flattened anything below them. And with that, the two began to eat...

It was complete chaos back down in the city... Most were fleeing for their lives, terrified of the three angels that were sat in the very middle of the place they all called home. Some looked up, only to see the giant gryphon and bird take bites of their food... Crumbs would occasionally fall, not even noticeable for someone the size of three gods, but they were like massive boulders to the micros... A small crumb of bread fell off Quill's plate and was sent falling straight down onto the side of a silver building. Half of the structure was effectively flattened, crushed down by nothing more than mere falling crumb. Several other buildings and plenty of feeling micros were met with the same fate, flattened by tiny bits of food as the giants had their midday snack.

Those near the resting drinks didn't have it any easier. The area that sat around the glass began to chill, freezing over as if they were in the dead of winter. Frost was quick to cover the buildings closest to the mountain sized beverages. Even the structures hiding in their protective domes had little resistance to the oncoming cold as roads and walkways all froze over with a thin sheet of ice. Running inside and taking shelter could only help so much as the biting cold still managed to find its way in. However, that was still better than being outside and exposed to the deathly chill that consumed the air....

The cold air remained even after one of the macros brought up their glasses to take a quick drink. A circular imprint was left where the cup had been sitting, a deep hole filled with the remains of crushed buildings, all wet and frozen over thanks to the drink that was once above them. However, that all simply meant another portion of the city would be crushed whenever either of the macros set their drinks back down. Again, thousands were crushed while another portion of the city froze over....

Meanwhile, a certain feline angel continued to slowly hover about, this time extremely close down to the ground... She'd eventually come to a full landing. Her large, feline paws would land straight on multiple buildings, followed by her slightly sinking into the land. She was still only a few inches tall compared to her two titanic companions, yet she still managed to dwarf every building and tower that stood. She'd begin to walk, a simple stroll along the ground... The fleeing micros would see her peer down at them, all while the cruel goddess held a smile on her face. Buildings and homes erupted in plumes of fire under her padded paws. Metal contorted; bodies pulverized to mist. Her sheer dominance was clear for all to see, especially for giant spire she was walking straight to. The heart of the city...

Nobody within the main tower was sure of what they could do. The shields across the city were normally strong enough to hold off damage from other outside forces, yet those angels were able to destroy them with nothing more than a simple footstep. Even the relatively small feline angel was able to casually burst the green domes of protective light open with a single footfall. Some within the central tower tried to calm the others, telling them that their shield should hold. It was far stronger than all the others in the city... However, many knew that wouldn't be enough...

Naeva casually walked up to the brightest of the glowing green domes. She'd look down at the building that sat inside, the one that towered over all others, but would barely make it over her shins in height. Naeva knew she had to get Quill to wreck it, and she knew just how...

She'd look back to the gryphon before speaking up. "Hey, Justin, don't these little green things remind you of something from your home? Y'know, maybe like seasoning or some such." A mischievous smirk was drawn across her face the entire time...

Justin was quick to get the message and played right along. "Oh yeah~" He'd scoop up a layer of earth with one of his hands and began to sprinkle the buildings into his sandwich. "Quill, you should use them too! A bit of seasoning was always used to make our food taste better. You should take a patch for yourself too. Hmmmm, maybe that bit riiiiiight there." Justin pointed to the largest of the glowing green domes, right before he took a bite of his sandwich.

"Seasoning? Well okay. I guess some more off-world ingredients could make this taste better...."

Naeva and Justin both intently watched as Quill scooped up the land with one hand... He'd move the bread bun top of his sandwich aside before sprinkling in what he believed to be some natural seasoning.

Buildings of all shapes and sizes were now stuck upon the meat surface of the sandwich. Those that survived the less than gentle landing were now met with the horror of knowing they would be eaten. The pieces of the city that still maintained their shielding were to act as green seasoning for the mighty bird, and that included the once great capital tower. The highest positions, all the wealth and money, all the power, it all meant nothing now as the top bun of the sandwich was put back on. Their world suddenly went dark, with the only light being from the green glow of the dome they were encased within.

Their world shook and rumbled about for a time, no doubt from the sandwich being raised to the godly bird's beak... What followed next was a violent shaking as the avian's beak met with the outer layer of the sandwich. It bit down, ripping through the layers of food before it finally made a bite off an entire piece. The prime tower of the mega-city had the unfortunate honor of being in this very bite, right in its place along with many other sections of the sprinkled-on city. Then the chewing began. Despite being a bird in nature, the godly avian still had sharp, meat rending teeth that seemed to be better fit on a large feline or canine. They were normally hidden behind his beak, but those inside the maw would have the pleasure of dealing with them firsthand.

The giant white pillars that were the bird god's sharp fangs went up and down, breaking apart the now saliva softened food with every bite. More buildings would be lost in between each chew, instantly flattened into scrap metal that'd simply mix in with the rest of the food in the bird's mouth. Some portions of the city would instead get sent below the tongue or stuck on the sides of the angel's maw, trapped there only to drown in the angel's thick saliva...

The massive capital spire turned food topping managed to stay upon the tongue for some time. The light from their dome gave them a less than pleasant view of all that was happening in the maw. The worst sights had to be whenever another domed building managed to find their way between the bird's sharp teeth. Their dim, glowing green light would be snuffed out the instant the giant chompers came crashing together. Any remains were promptly mixed in with the other chewed up globs of food... And then the god swallowed... All the food, along with the few remaining buildings, were all gulped down and sent into the bird's stomach. This would be the final resting place for the beautifully decorated tower that once served at the planet's crowning structure...

Quill quickly ate the rest of his sandwich. The weird seasoning his friends told him to add didn't really bring much to the taste, but it didn't hurt to try. "Hmm, not as good as I was hoping, but it was still pretty tasty..." The godly bird still had no idea how many lives he had just snuffed out within his mouth... Justin and Naeva both tried their best to conceal their smiles. It was always a treat for them both to see Quill unintentionally snuff out so many micros at once.

It wasn't long before Justin finished up and eating everything as well. The area around the three of them was now filled with footprints, missing pieces of earth, and a landscape full of ruins... When they were all finished, Quill casually warped the plates and glasses away.

"Well, these picnics are always nice at least." Quill would mention as he stood back up. He'd brush off any 'dirt' that managed to cling to the back of his robe. The debris would fall and scatter all over the ground, further adding to the destruction across the content-wide city.

"We're just glad you enjoy going out with us." Naeva slowly flew above the ground as she spoke. She mainly drifted around the areas with most damage and took special interest with the imprints left behind by Quill's and Justin's feet. "So are the two of you ready to go?"

Justin stood and opened a glowing blue portal behind himself. "Yup, I think we're all finished. I'm ready to go whenever Quill is."

Justin took a few steps to the side to allow his bigger angel friend to walk through his portal. As Quill walked forward, Justin and Naeva closely watched his feet land on more and more gray structures. So many more micros lives lost underneath those huge, blue feet, all without Quill noticing a thing...

Quill went through the portal, while Justin and Naeva followed right behind. The portal closed soon after, leaving the planet and the massive city that spanned over much of it. In the end, the casualty reported millions of micro lives lost, thousands of buildings turned to dust; all done in the span of a single lunch break...
