This is part 2 of The Gryphon Prince. Eik and Roric travel out to the gryphon capitol to settle things with the king.
"He what!" The king shouted wrenching the gold and silver plated edges of his throne. Soon after the prince's disappearance, he dispatched every single gryphon he could to go out and find him. It didn't take long for the crimson red gryphon to report back with good news. Unfortunately using Roric's exact words to the king only upset him more. "Return when he feels like it!? The fool! Doesn't he realize that he has a duty to this kingdom. His next suitors are set to arrive within the week and this time I will make him choose one. Go find Roric and escort him home by force if necessary."

The thing was that I didn't want to up and go without Eik and taking her with me was a big risk. Still it was a risk I was willing to take, I couldn't think of my life without her at this point. What was I going to tell her exactly? Hey can you give up your old life and come live with me?
The main reason I even left home was to get a taste of freedom and find someone on my own. I would try and build a life out here if I could, but that just might put Eik in danger. Taking a deep breath I walked over to the bed and pulled the towel up and over Eik's beak wringing it out so that the water dribbled onto her face. Her dark feathers on her beak almost glowed a light red. Eik stood herself up and jumped down off the bed quickly rushing out of the door, presumably to be alone to think. "Sire. Who was that?" Colt asked me still sitting beside the entrance.
"That was my hen...." I said giving Colt a shocked look on his face. "There are a few issues that we need to resolve first however. I just hope in my heart that she says yes." The waiting was going to tear me apart.

Henry began coating my fur and feathers with a white pudding like substance in different patterns. It was cold and after it was complete, Henry started chanting his usual mumbo jumbo. The air around me began to swirl around in shades of green. I shut my eyes and awaited the transformation. Soon the lights dimmed down and I reopened my eyes. Nothing had changed! I was still a gryphon!
"That's odd. I was sure that it would work. Hmmm well we might just need stronger stuff then." Henry said digging a journal from out of his robe. " Lets see....this might be more difficult than I originally anticipated. Normally humans have the lowest traces of magic which is easy to manipulate. Since you are now a gryphon, your magic is now much higher meaning we now need something of higher power to help."
"Like what?" I said trying to hold back my anger for the half satyr. He paced back and forth with his hands smoothing over the horns on his head. "Well since your a gryphon we could probably go to the capital and look there. It is the most likely place to find high tier magic items besides the dragon kingdom." Henry said. It was extremely doubtful I could blend in with the locals there even if I looked the part. I wonder if Roric would be able to help us out here?
"I might know a guy that could help us with this." I said. "Do me a favor and just wait here a sec." I said running back up to my room. Before I could reach the door I could hear muffled sounds of yelling between Roric and that other gryphon. I slowly pushed the door open poking my beak in to see what in the world was going on.
"You can't just sleep with whomever you please my lord!" The crimson gryphon was pushing his beak up to Roric's with his wings flared out. "Do you even have an ounce of self respect! What would your father say to this? This fling of yours cannot hope to have as much political power as the ones your father has chosen. What would the others think!"
"I don't care what the others think!" Roric screeched back at him pushing his chest up to his with his much larger wingspan out. " My passion for her burns brighter with every moment I spend around her. This is my choice and as the future ruler of the gryphon kingdom I want her by my side!" My eyes widened and my heart skipped a beat. He was a prince! I had sex with a prince!
"We shall see when we return home sire." The red gryphon folded his wings back and stormed off opening the door. "Wentch.." he said walking past me. "Roric I need to ask you a favor. Do you know of any powerful magic items that you might have? My plan failed so we need something with a lot more kick to it." He lifted his head off me for a bit and began to think hard. "Well" He said. " We do have a massive power source that lights up the whole city so yes we probably do." It was such a relief to hear him say that.
After a few minutes of packing, we cleaned ourselves up and I taught Eik how to properly wear a tunic. While I had on my red and blue one, she had a green and black one that fit nicely over her body with her wings having plenty of room to breathe through her wing holes. We then checked out of our room and met Colt in the lobby along with a chatty fellow by the name of Henry.
"Are we ready my lord?" Colt said as Henry climbed over on his back. "This one will be accompanying us back, says he has business with the king and with your hen." I nodded and we walked outside with the sun brightly lighting the warm blue sky. I waited a moment for Colt to take off so that Eik could settle on my back. I feel like I need to teach her how to fly on her own when we return.
After a few hours of soaring through the sky, we finally reached home. The clouds parted from around the mountain revealing the gryphon kingdom. Surrounding the mountain were lakes and small wooden houses each housing a less than wealthy gryphon. As you got closer to the mountain, the rich and pampered were more prominent. Cobblestone walkways with bathhouses and fancy housing. Art sculptures and flowering littering the streets. At the mountain itself was my home and home to the king and queen.
The mountain itself wasn't anything special except for the giant holes with fancy balconies and a lot of magic power emanating from within. I could hear Eik gasping in awe at everything even before we descended into the mountain entrance. The inside was almost a maze of caves with torches lining the walls. It was made like this to keep intruders lost, but as you passed through the giant double doors with the golden gryphon symbol on it the layout changed from gritty and dark to bight and homey. White cobblestone walls, red rugs, and plenty of paintings and statues.
Soon we arrived in the main hall. Giant statues of past kings lined the hall leading to the throne which was perched higher up than the queens and made from gold and rubies. My father was impatiently waiting there for us and I grew nervous on what he had to say to me. "It is about time you showed up!" The king screeched clenching the arm of the throne in his talons. " There is much we have to discuss from your actions. Plus the gryphons from Yardvel are waiting in your quarters for your selection. I want an answer this time too."
"Father, I believe I have already found my hen." I cleared my throat gesturing towards Eik. She sheepishly walked beside me and bowed her head. Father stared at her for a good minute scratching the side of his throne with his talon. "What family does she hail from Roric?" He said coming down from his throne to further inspect Eik. As he paced around her I spoke up. "Her name is Eik and she is an extremely rare breed that holds more magic power than most."
"That is not what I asked. Does she come from a noble family or not. " Father looked me dead in the eye and if I could sweat, it would be in buckets right now. "That's what I thought. I can't have my son siring a son that doesn't come from noble roots. Plus what would I gain from this hmm? There are plenty of lovely ladies waiting for you that have much land and power so you will choose from them."
"You told me I could choose for myself! I love her dad!" I yelled panicking. The king chuckled and said " Love? you don't know what love is. It has only been a week since you've been gone and-" I chose that moment to interrupt him and without any hesitation I yelled "She already is carrying the next heir!" Father stopped in his tracks staring into my soul.
Breeding was a strong subject in the kingdom. It symbolized a new hope and a new beginning which is why we always kept our hens intact. If the egg came out to be broken or if it broke any point during the days then it would be a loss of hope, to take it deliberately away is a big crime and that was written by my own father.
The king was quite angry obviously, but there was not a thing he could do about it. After a brief moment of silence, he gestured towards the guards. "Escort miss Eik to Roric's quarters and as for you my son I want you in my lecture hall immediately." Once today is done, the prince and I are gunna breed in that bed and everyone of you is going to watch as he fills me with his seed and we reshape the kingdom in a better way." "She said angrily pushing her beak up to mine. "Just you watch".

"I like hunting and farming." One said. Most just answered with generic "I'm sure I could learn a lot from you".
When he reached the snobby gryphon I rolled my eyes. Roric then asked her "What's your ideal spot for a first date?" She quickly responded with "A picnic spot on a mountain side with a gorgeous view." Roric's eyes lit up a bit hearing her answer. Was this the kings plan? Trying to get him to go with one of these hens so the king could have his way. I was actually getting nervous from this. On one hand if he didn't pick me I could return to my old life with no regrets, but then there would be this hollow feeling inside myself...
Roric then approached me and asked " What do you aspire to be after this?" I felt his gaze upon me having doubts on who I actually was and I answered as honestly as I could. " A man." The gryphons couldn't contain their laughter holding their talons over their beaks. Roric however wasn't laughing.
