Shepard was busy, as usual, and Garrus leaned against the Normandy’s hull as he waited for the human to be free. Wouldn’t be long, he imagined. Shepard never had the patience to deal with the Illusive Man for long, and after the last mission, he could all too easily imagine that patience being strained to its breaking point just by being in the same room as the head of Cerberus, even with the latter being just a hologram. The Turian chuckled to himself, shaking his head as he imagined just what kind of responses would be fired back and forth in the other room.
He always was one for quips…
Shaking his head, Garrus leaned his head back, one hand going up along the opposite arm until he reached his shoulder. It was still sore from the fall, and from the rescue that had come during it. Doctor Chakwas had done what she could, but the bruising was going to last for a while, particularly when his arm had all but come out of its socket from Shepard’s rescue.
A bit of embarrassment, that. Just a little, though. There were some people that he didn’t mind being rescued by, after all, and Shepard…well, he was the only one that he didn’t mind that from, he supposed.
Particularly after we’ve been…
“Heh…my thoughts are all over the place today, I suppose,” he muttered to himself, clicking his mandibles in minor irritation and exasperation. “So much for the focused killer I’m supposed to be…”
It wasn’t like Shepard needed him to be the ultimate assassin or anything of the sort, but he did hold himself to certain standards. When he was in C-Sec, and even when he was Archangel, Garrus had forced that discipline on himself, ensuring that he had been ready, willing, and most importantly, able to go forward and take on any target that crossed his sights. He needed to be ready to take down anything that threatened the mission at a moment’s notice, not have all these little…popcorn thoughts, he supposed humans would have called them. They were distracting, and more important, dangerous.
He shifted position, only to hiss again at the bad arm. He was going to need to remember that the shoulder was still weak. The joint had been popped back into place, but that didn’t mean that the soreness had gone away. Chakwas couldn’t give him more than a mild dose of painkillers, either, considering that most of the crew needed more treatment than that. The infirmary was over-full, and even the crew that were able to keep the ship running were doing so on a boatload of painkillers and medi-gel.
He’d just have to deal with it. Just like he had to deal with…
The Turian knew what he was doing. He was trying not to think about what happened next. He leaned his head back again, bumping the wall with the back of his head several times to try and stop his stupid subconscious from going further.
Of course, it was a futile endeavor. After all, when did the imagination ever listen to the conscious mind?
#
He’d brought the bottle to try and loosen things up between them. He needn’t have bothered, considering the first thing out of Shepard’s mouth had been a joke.
“What, you think either of us are going to have trouble getting it up?”
Garrus chuckled, shaking his head as he put the bottle down on the nightstand, sitting down on the side of the bed. He’d left the armor down in the engine room, and had gotten a number of funny looks as he went up the ship. It was a rare moment that he was out of armor and in more of a dress uniform. Would have been something more casual, of course, but that would have meant going on the net and finding something that fit him. Not easy to get something like that shipped out mid-mission, and even harder to find someone that was willing to deliver to a vessel that technically belonged to Cerberus.
“Well, it’s meant as an ice-breaker.”
“You’re spiky enough to be one on your own, Garrus.”
“And you’re the kind of man that likes that.”
“Heh, well, that’s what I’ve been told.”
“Oh? Am I coming to well-trodden ground, Shepard?” the Turian asked.
“Not with non-humans,” the commander admitted.
“Heh…Tell me, were Mordin’s videos…”
He let it hang for a moment, only for Shepard to go bright red. It was a very different shade for the human, and one that he hadn’t seen for a few months, at least. He chuckled.
“That bad, hmm?”
“Not as bad as some of them, but…clearly, he needs to update his files.”
“He needs to learn the difference between porn and bio-docs,” Garrus said, rolling his eyes. “I thought that I’d never get it up again after that.”
“That bad, huh?”
“That embarrassing.”
They were dancing around the subject, he knew. They were both aware of why they were here, and they both knew where this was going. The banter was a way to put it off, to think about something less embarrassing, less awkward than two completely different species trying to find a way to make a romance – hell, barely even that, a liaison between them – work out. Garrus had read the manuals, watched the different pornos, done some independent research to make sure that he was seeing stuff that actually worked, but he was still not quire sure how this was going to go long-term.
He looked at the human. Shepard was doing what he always did late at night. He was on his data-pad, reading through reports from the rest of the ship, going through everything that had happened over the day. Even before this horrible mission, he was still going through his routine.
That was something that he appreciated about the commander. Even in exceptional circumstances, he found a way to keep the mundane around. It grounded him, and that, in turn, grounded the crew around him.
Garrus took a deep breath, slowly letting it out.
“So…”
“How are we going to do this tonight?” the commander asked.
“Heh…just going right for it, huh?”
“Feels like the best way to hit the target, right?”
“Well, I guess that’s true. I was more hoping a random ricochet would do the job.”
“Well, if anyone could make that happen, it’d be you.”
“Yes…well…” Garrus shook his head, sighing. “I don’t know, Shepard. Everything’s been so crazy during this mission. Everything going wrong, even when it goes right. One rabbit hole after another. I just feel…I just want something to go right before it all goes wrong again.”
“…”
“I don’t even know how this is going to work out between us. I…I need something to be right.”
There was a moment of silence, broken by Shepard shifting on the bed. Soon, the human was sitting beside him, and they were looking into each other’s eyes. They were still, their gaze fixed on each other. A few small touches, gentle strokes. One hand on another.
He wasn’t sure how it changed to leaning forward, forehead carefully against forehead to avoid any spikes or bumps, but they ended up that way. It was surprisingly comfortable. Natural. Right.
He breathed out slowly, and Shepard met him with a kiss in that moment. It was something that he didn’t expect, and it almost went badly; after all, human lips and Turian mandibles weren’t exactly made to touch each other that way. They shared a breath, then another.
And another.
It didn’t take long for their arms to wrap around one another. He didn’t know what was going through Shepard’s head, but he knew what was going through his. Someone else that was strong enough to support him, and someone that he respected enough to support in turn. Someone that had always been reliable. Someone that gave him what he needed, and could be something that he wanted.
Someone that was his equal.
Someone that was his…his rock.
Someone that he could lift up and make better.
It was everything.
And Shepard was hot, too, and not just to the touch. He felt a shiver run down his spine as he imagined what it would be like when they were both naked, what they’d do, how it would feel. He was still torn, and he didn’t know what he would end up doing for his commander, but he knew that he would enjoy it, one way or another.
Shepard finally broke the kiss, both of them panting, though Garrus disguised his with a grunt and chuckle.
“Heh…didn’t think that you’d be that good with your mouth.”
“You’d be surprised what else it’s good at.”
“Heh, is that an invitation to find out?”
“Do I need to write it out in triplicate?”
“God, Shepard, don’t ruin the moment…”
They were quick to strip at that point, their clothes coming off at record speed, hitting the floor. The sight of a real naked human, rather than just one that had been on the pornos, was something very different. Softer, squishier, somehow, than he had imagined. There was more movement to the body, places where you could see the anatomy shifting beneath the skin. There was none of that for Turians; their plates meant that they didn’t have that same organic feel to them, or the view of something moving beneath the skin.
At the same time, there was something brutally, organically honest about that, particularly the way that Shepard was already getting quite erect at the thought of what they were going to do. The human’s erection pushed upwards, begging for attention, and he smiled as he felt his own sliding free of its hiding place.
They were very different looking, very different indeed. One shaft that was smooth, coming to an almost mushroom-tipped end, and his own that was more of a pointed, arrow-like shape, narrow and curved, with a curved, hooked underside to the head. Ridges ran along the shaft, meant to stimulate Turian females, but he had no idea of how it would feel to a human.
Shepard moved closer, and they pressed together, shaft to shaft. It was a moment of utter intimacy that he had almost forgotten about, and he shuddered, going head to head with the human once more.
“How…”
“Garrus.” Shepard looked him in the eye. “I know what you need right now. But when we make it out alive tomorrow…we do it the other way…yeah?”
“Heh…If you can take it tonight…sure.”
“Condom?”
Garrus nodded, leaning over to his uniform. He pulled the little wrapped up bit of rubber free, and Shepard took it, opening it up and unrolling it over the Turian’s shaft. The feeling was very different, and not something that he had ever expected to use. It was a very human invention, but it wasn’t bad. It was almost like some of the fetish-wear that they had back home, clenching tight around his shaft and making him feel it all the more.
And then…
Then Shepard got on his knees on the bed. Garrus watched as the human leaned in, gently taking his cock by the base with his hand, and slowly brushing the latex-wrapped tip against his face. The feeling was…indescribable.
“Ah…”
“Sensitive, Garrus? Come on. I bet the ladies do this for you all the time.”
“Heh…they do. But you’re not exactly a lady, you know.”
“You’re right. I’m better.”
The confidence somehow made Shepard that much hotter, but nothing was better than that mouth slowly closing around his shaft, pulling him deeper and dragging his rod further and further back. The feeling of that tongue working along the bottom of his cock, guiding him further back than he had any idea the human could manage, was enough to not only keep him hard, but make him start dripping.
Thankful for the condom in that it would keep most risks of an extreme allergic reaction at bay, he gradually fed his cock forward, waiting for the tap on his thigh that would tell him that Shepard needed a breather, waiting for the moment where his – his what? His human? His companion? Commander? Partner? – his Shepard would tell him to pull back for a moment or chicken out of the whole thing. He was braced for it, expected it, even.
But it never came.
Instead, he was allowed to slide all the way forward. Sure, Shepard had a few moments where he struggled, and when the tip of his cock popped into the human’s throat, there was a moment where everything clenched down, all but gagging around his cock, but it was a moment and nothing more. He slipped in –
And then felt his hips click with the human’s chin. He was balls-deep, now, and he was panting without even knowing it.
“Mmmph…that’s a talented mouth, alright, Shepard…”
There was no response, save for a hard swallow, one that almost felt like it was stripping the condom from his cock. He groaned, gripping his cock around the base to make sure that the latex didn’t actually slip, then slowly started pulling back. There was a faint, almost indiscernible moment where the human actually did make a face of relief as his throat was cleared out, some desperate air getting sucked down, but still, no turning back.
Either Shepard was braver than any other partner that Garrus had ever had, or he was enjoying this. A lot.
He chose to believe the second one. It was hotter, more flattering, and it meant that he could keep going.
He shifted his footing, resting one hand on Shepard’s head and the other at the base of his cock to keep the condom where it belonged. It was already starting to get a little slimy inside, and the last thing that he wanted was for any of that fluid to leak out and start causing them problems. He could see Shepard’s eyes glinting, knew that the human wanted to keep going, and…well, who was he to deny the commander?
Forward, back, forward, back, his hand driving Shepard’s head along his cock. Every thrust, every bob reminded him of the differences between them. No need to worry about a mouth that wasn’t quite suited for this. No need to keep the other mandibles in mind. No need to worry about a throat that wasn’t deep enough, that couldn’t quite take him.
No, he could just do what he wanted…and Shepard was letting him do it, more to the point. The human didn’t just encourage him. The human took active part, swallowing, shifting his tongue around, using his mouth rather than just letting it be used.
It was an entirely different feeling for him, and it was making him feel like some young Turian that hadn’t had the number of bedmates that he’d gone through. Garrus huffed, clicking his face-plates together more than once as he forced himself to keep moving, to keep the commander moving along his shaft. If he stopped, if he focused on the feeling of the blowjob for too long…
He had honestly thought that Shepard being on the bottom would be something that happened as a favor, as something that the human wasn’t interested in, but the more that they did this, the more he realized that Shepard was as versatile as he was capable. He could have taken charge, and he could easily imagine the commander doing this to him, but at the same time, it didn’t feel wrong to have him on his knees either. The feel of the human’s mouth, the constant movement, the teasing, the licking, the swallowing at just the right time, proved that Shepard had been in this position more than once. At least to him.
Forward, back, forward, back, always taking his time, despite the way that his body wanted him to go faster. He could have taken Shepard like the Turian in the pornos had taken his human, could have been that dominant, overpowered creature, but he knew that the minute he sped up would be the moment that he lost control. He was holding his orgasm back by the skin of his teeth, and he wasn’t about to ruin this by flooding a condom a few minutes into a blowjob.
So, he took his time. He guided Shepard’s head down along his cock. Focusing on the motions, the movement, and keeping the stimulation in a little knot in the back of his head, the way that he had held back on the different emotions that he felt while sniping different targets. It was the only thing that worked to keep everything from overwhelming him, to keep from being utterly swarmed with the worries of what might happen if he fucked up. It worked for sniping, and it…mostly worked for this.
Forward, back, forward, back, until finally Shepard did tap him on the thigh. He pulled back, groaning in the process, and his commander chuckled, rubbing his jaw.
“What’s the matter? Can’t cum from a blowjob?” Shepard asked.
“…Should I have?” Garrus asked.
“Nah. Usually people do by now, though.”
“Well, I’m not people, am I?” he said, allowing just a hint of his usual cockiness through the out-of-breath voice that he was barely holding back. “Mmmph…but I don’t think I can last that much longer.”
“Good. I don’t know how easy I can take that thing…but I told you I’d try.”
The surprise of Shepard still wanting to try was almost as great as the sight of the human going to hands and knees and turning around. The sight of that ass, that rounded, perfect, muscular rump, was enough to make him throb again. He could just make out the squirt of pre-cum that went into the condom, the feeling of slime inside making him a little worried about over-filling it.
“One second…”
He pulled it off, dragging a second one free of his suit and applying it. The dribble of pre-cum that came free in the process went over the side of the bed rather than onto the sheets, just to be safe.
And then, he was ready. He spread some of the lube that Shepard passed back over his member, and then…
Then he was in position. He looked down, seeing his commander’s hole as Shepard pulled the cheeks apart. It twitched, not wantonly, but almost curiously, as if it was eager to meet his shaft but not quite ready for it at the same time. He rubbed his finger over it, felt it clench.
“Mmmph…”
“Heh…don’t tell me you’re shy now, Shepard.”
“Heh, just dealing with something new.”
“For both of us…”
“Yeah, but who’s the one taking it?”
“Good point.”
He slid forward, thrusting slowly between the human’s ass cheeks. They were nice and muscled, clenching just enough around his cock to guide the latex-wrapped shaft between them. He brushed against the pucker, felt it pull in a bit, then open up once more. He had thought that this would be complicated, but instead, every difference only deepened the fascination that he had for the commander. Not making him think that this was awkward, weird, or wrong – something that he had entirely expected out of this – but making it better. So much better.
He worked his way forward, brushing the more pointed tip of his cock against that hole. It flexed, but it wasn’t keeping him out. All the lube on the condom did its job, and –
POP!
In it went. He gasped as he felt the rim squeezing just behind his head, trapping the tip inside, and Shepard reached back, patting his thigh for a moment.
“Hang on…just a minute…”
“Too big?” he asked, and he couldn’t quite keep a note of teasing from his voice.
“Heh…pretty big, alright…but just need a second.”
“Take a few. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Damn right, you’re not.”
“Mmmph…”
Garrus had to admit, that was a hell of a feeling. The human’s asshole was clenching so hard around the tip that it was almost like taking a Turian virgin, feeling her parts milking, teasing, trying to get him to cum inside of her for breeding as fast as possible. Was that the way that humans always did it, or was he just lucky?
Either way, he knew that this wasn’t going to be a long round of sex. He leaned forward, over the human, reaching down to grasp Shepard’s member. The erection filled his hand, and he squeezed just enough to draw a moan from the human under him.
“Mmm…you like it, huh?”
“What can I say? Maybe I got a thing for Turians.”
“Or a thing for me…”
“Heh…I think I just might.”
“Don’t tease me, Shepard.”
“Why not? You’re teasing me.”
“Oh, am I?”
He chuckled, slowly turning the clenched fist around the human’s cock to a stroking hand, going up and down, up and down. A fast, hard stroke, something that rapidly got Shepard groaning. The feeling of that clenching hole got all the more intense, too, as he forced the human into a more aroused state.
It didn’t take long before neither of them could entirely hold back. Garrus’s hips twitched in response to the constant squeezing of that pucker, and Shepard started pushing back against him. In less than a minute, they were rutting again, this time rougher, harder. There were moments when Shepard groaned, huffed, hissed when one of Garrus’s plates scraped against him a little bit too roughly, but in that moment, neither of them cared.
After all, they might both die in the morning. This was a mission into Hell, and they were well aware that they weren’t going to come back from it without being marked in some way. They might not come back at all.
And if that was the case, he was going to have this. He was going to take this away with him. Either to his grave, or away from Shepard’s.
In, out, in, out, that hole, those velvety walls, the warmth dragging him further and further towards climax. The human’s cock continued to ooze on his hand, reminding him that it was only a matter of time before he lost all control. He moaned, shivering, panting, shaking from the utter bliss that came from this.
Shepard arched his back, and he felt the sudden spasm in his hand. Warmth, new fluid, and he knew that his commander was cumming.
The rippling feeling of conquest, of satisfaction, of success hit him, and it pushed him over the edge, too. He moaned, groaning under his breath as he buried his cock as far as it would go, holding it hilted inside of the human as he felt himself ‘popping his heat sink.’ His breath came out in a long wheeze, his shaft swimming in his own seed in the condom.
“Ooooh, yeah…”
#
The stomping sounds from the other side of the wall told him that the call was over, and that Shepard had come to an end point with his call with the Illusive Man. Probably an end point that meant that they were no longer working for Cerberus, as a matter of fact. He cocked his head to the side as the doors opened, and chuckled at the irritated-satisfied expression on Shepard’s face.
“Too much bullshit on the channel?” he asked, his arms folded across his chest.
“Something like that.”
“He was never going to last.”
“No, but I thought maybe he’d see some reason after that.”
“Heh, you should have known better.”
“Yeah. But at least it’s done…and now, we have time.”
“Time, huh?” Garrus smiled. “I knew you saved me for a reason.”
“Heh, you think I was going to let you get away without doing your share of things?” Shepard asked with a chuckle.
Garrus laughed with him, shaking his head as he thought about the end of the mission. Beating the Human Reaper, sending it down to the depths of Hell, only for its flailing last gasps at life to nearly take him down with it. The whole platform had come loose, all three of them sliding around, and he…
Well, he had almost gone sliding after the Reaper, and he remembered just how close a call it had been. That was what had yanked his arm almost right out of its socket in that moment, and what Shepard had saved him from. The commander had all but thrown himself off the edge of the platform to pull him back from dying, at great risk to himself, and even though Garrus knew it shouldn’t have surprised him, some part of him had been. The human had been willing to give his life for the crew.
Not that he wouldn’t have done the same thing, but it was always weirder to have it happen to his benefit.
Thankfully, they had all lived through it, though it had been close for some of them. Jack had been particularly endangered more than once, and the fire team pushing through while Shepard had gone around back had almost been taken down by Collector security, but they had all come through. Battered, bruised, and…
Well, in his case, with an obligation. One still buried by banter.
“You should have let it take me, Shepard. That was your one chance to be the best man in the room, and you blew it.”
“Heh, I never would have felt right about that. Can’t say that you own that trophy when you didn’t earn it.”
“You could have said you tried.”
“Oh, if it had happened, I would have told everyone that the Reaper went for you specifically. And you blasted it all the way down.”
“Thankfully, you don’t have to.” He rubbed the back of his head. “Shepard…I didn’t think that I would get out of that. I honestly…well, I thought I was done for. The minute the platform went down, I was all but sure I was going to die. And then, you turned that around. Like you always do.”
He half-expected some sort of quip, something to relieve the tension in the room, but there was nothing. Not even a mild joke, or some bad pun about what they were going to do next.
Instead, Shepard reached over and rested his hand on the Turian’s shoulder. The good one, not the bad one.
“Look. If this is about what we said before –”
“It’s not.”
“I’m just saying. If it is about…that….then you know that I’m not going to hold you to it. It was something that I said when we were sure that one or the other was going to die, and I’m not going to hold anyone – let alone you – to something like that. It’s not fair.”
If there was one thing that Shepard could have said that would have made Garrus go through with it anyway, it was that. The idea of going forward without paying off bargains and agreements that he had made sat ill with him, and more to the point, it was something that he had honestly meant to go through with, if they both survived.
The problem was, he hadn’t expected both of them to survive, and now, he was left with the reality of the situation. What had seemed like a great idea when they were both desperate to find something to live for was something that he questioned now. They were two different species, even if they did fit together well in bed. They worked together well on the battlefield, but how would they work together in a more civil part of life? How would it affect them, knowing that they were each other’s, and not someone else’s?
What would happen to them when the galaxy at large found out?
Because they would, eventually, and that would mean that the pair of them would have to deal with being a public spectacle. There would be all kinds of back and forth on the part of their two species, and considering that interspecies romances were far more rare than interspecies porn, it was going to bring its own problems. There would be politicians that Shepard had to deal with that would be on his case about the way that he was messing with the status quo, and there would be those back in the Hierarchy that would want Garrus to make use of this.
And then there was the whole question of whether they actually cared for each other enough to make it work. All things considered, that was a bigger consideration than just getting on his hands and knees and being the bottom for the night.
But when Shepard gave his shoulder a squeeze, when he and his commander looked into each other’s eyes, it felt like that consideration was a million light years away. He chuckled, shaking his head.
“You’re going to be bragging about this one for years to come,” he muttered.
“Oh?”
“The great Archangel, on his knees in front of Commander Shepard.”
“Well, it’s not like you’d be the first.”
“Don’t start that. We’re not exactly in an open relationship yet, you know.”
“Heh, does that mean that we’re in a relationship, then?” Shepard asked.
Garrus had walked himself right into that one, he realized, and he didn’t have an immediate answer. Part of him wanted to shout ‘Yes!’, while the rest was a little more concerned, a little more cautious. It wanted it, but it wasn’t sure if it could just come out and say it.
In the end, that gave him the answer that he needed.
The Turian slowly reached up and took the commander’s hand. He pulled it down, still holding it as he chuckled ruefully.
“You know the answer to that.”
“But I want you to say it.”
“Must you, Shepard?”
“I think I do.”
“…Then…yes.”
“Yes, what, Garrus?”
“Yes, we’re in a relationship. Happy?”
“Yep. And I’ll be happier in a few minutes. Think that your arm can take your weight?” he asked.
“I think you’re going to have to find a more creative position than that, Shepard. Preferably something standing.”
“I think we can work something out.”
And so, they made their way to the elevator. This time, they were more obviously together, not just someone going to the commander’s quarters like he had done before. There was none of that questionable, could be something else thing going on that Garrus had done before, nothing that the rest of the crew could just write off as the Turian going up to report to the commander about something down in the engines. No, this time, they were clearly going up there for something more…intimate.
Despite that, there wasn’t one comment being made. No side-on looks that might have meant something worse, nothing questioning about whether they were really suitable, nothing that said it was wrong. The crew had been through hell, and if their commander wanted to get in bed with the Turian that had helped save all their lives, not a single one of them was going to say anything about it.
Maybe this would work out after all…
