Lost in your Eyes - Chapter 9
#3 of Lost in your Eyes
Spencer couldn't put his finger on where he might find Mike. Every day after school, he drove by where Mike's mother was burried. He drove by Mike's old house, which was now abandonned. He couldn't think of any other place he might be. Mike's been missing for two week now, and he's fed up with it. He sat down at his computer at home, looking around for any hints on the internet. He searched for common reactions in teens who lose their mother and lose their lover.
The very first item that popped up was on the furnews website. The section was titled "The Morpher". Spencer remembers hearing about him on the T.V. briefly before the power went out. He curiously opened up the article to find out more.
"The Morpher is a notorious creature of unknown origion believed to be connected with the disappearances of thousands of missing furs. All of these missing furs had recently lost something dear to them prior to their disappearance. An exclusive interview with Shane Ghaj, a victim of the Morpher, is shown below.
'She looked just like my wife, and I fell for her so quickly, even though my wife had passed away only a week before. She was a little more hostile than what my wife was like, but I didn't care. I was lost in her eyes, and felt like I had to obey everything she said. My son had died not long after meeting this woman, and it sent me into a state of darkness that I cannot describe. I was a drone that fed off of whatever the Morpher would give me, which wasn't much. I was held in a dark place for almost four weeks, given little to eat and drink. That's when she revealed who she was to me. I felt like the last bit of hope I had in having a reason to live in this world had just been ripped from my heart. I wanted to die. I have a nearby stranger who heard my cries of despair to thank. I would have taken my life had someone not shown any compassion for me just then.
I'm still alone in this world. I know not where the stranger went...but I knew I had a purpose. I needed to warn the world of this menace. Please...bring that bastard down.'
"If you have any information on..."
Spencer stopped reading. He had his answer. He knew exactly where he'd find Mike now. He wanted to rush over to the warehouse where he found Mike in agony before, hoping it wasn't too late to save him. He pulled out his phone and almost texted that he was comming for him...but stopped himself. The element of surprise was key, and he knew not what the Morpher was capable of.
Spencer grabbed a large knife from his kitchen and hid it in his back pocket. His mind was telling him to call the cops, which was obviously the best thing he could do for Mike now...but his heart told him it was time to be the hero. The heart had a reason which reason doesn't know.
Spencer hopped into his truck and sped off to the general store where he could pick up som food and water bottles to give Mike in case he was malnourished. As he entered the store, he pulled out his phone to text his cousin, Blake Darkwing.
"Cuz, R U busy?"
"No, y?"
"Come to old k-mart down the street from skool. Bring guns"
"Wtf?"
"Trust me, it's important. Life is at stake."
"k"
Spencer knew he could rely on Blake to help him save Mike. Blake hated bringing things to the cops attention, what with all the paperwork and long interrogations involved. Blake's a mercenary for hire, but owed Spencer a favor. Spencer bought some lunchmeat and bread, and some chips and water. He hoped he'd still have cold bologna to feed Mike once they arrived.

Spencer arrived at the warehouse, surprised to see his cousin already there. Blake was a large black dragon, his yellow eyes giving him a look of pure evil. The dragon was nine feet tall, and full of bulky muscle. His clothing mimicked the suit of Solid Snake. His body was covered in a black stealth suit, several guns holstered at his hips, one of them being a saw-off shotgun. Spencer didn't recognize the other guns except for the fact that they go "BANG" when the trigger is pulled. The drake smiled and waved at his cousin. "So...who are we saving?"
"Mike." Blake nodded. "So, the furball got himself into a little jam?" The dragon didn't look too bothered. He had a heart of stone, good for a mercenary. "Well, I think he's the next victim of the Morpher. I don't know what he's capable of, so I needed support." Blake chuckled at Spencer's mentioning of the Morpher. "I've heard of that guy. Never knew where to find him and bring his head in for the bounty. Five-hundred grand...I may still have to owe you a favor, cuz" Blake looked excited now. "So, are they inside I guess?"
Spencer nodded. "Yes, but I want to go first. Keep an eye out for the Morpher while i got get Mike out of there. He's probably weakened. I don't think the Morpher is here yet, so feel free to hang around after I leave with Mike.
Blake nodded, showing a bit of disappointment at being told to be the 'lookout'. But he listened to orders, knowing he was repaying a debt from long ago by doing this for Spencer.
Spencer put a hoof on his back pocket, holding the handle of the knife as he put the other hoof on the metal door. "Here goes nothing."
