No Human's Sky

The traveler who calls himself Andrew discovers an untapped planet that is unfortunately as deadly as it is beautiful. The Atlas does not like to waste life however, so when he dies as a human, the Atlas repurposes him as something more appropriate for what he was trying to do.

(M tf Alien - Golecryst/No Man's Sky)

Andrew flew his ship between a planet and its large, nearby moon. He passed close enough to both to see the glowing translucent bubble that is their atmosphere covering around them thanks to the sunlight refracting on them. He pressed a few buttons to initiate a planet scan. From outside orbit the ship can only give him so much details, but the materials he was looking for; he needed a lot of. So it was only worth his time if there was a lot of the material present- in which case the ship should be able to pick them up on an orbital scan. It did not pick up what he needed, buuuut it did pick up a large amount of Storm Crystals, which sell for enough money that he could just buy what he needed.

Andrew flew through the dense clouds of the planet hearing the drops of rain hitting his ship at high velocity causing the hull to clink with each impact even though it was mere liquid. Even toward the surface the clouds swirled quickly around him as he landed his ship on what looked to be a grass plain. Most of the plants in the area were relatively small, so you could see for quite some distance uninterrupted. Strange loop-shaped metallic rock deposits sit in the grass almost looking like a man-made part. The scan indicated that this planet has never been charted- or at least there are no records of it; so no man has ever set foot here. Andrew shall be the first! He seen a bright light coming toward him as he slipped his exo suit on to step out of the ship and he held his breathe in awe. The light was an end to the clouds- a colossal opening in the swirling storms into clear sky. The light made the raindrops on the grass glitter as the grass gently swayed- the wind suddenly also quite calm. It was beautiful! And rolling hills of swaying maroon-colored grass as far as the eye could see. Clearly a good bit of metal deposits, and storm crystals all over the planet.

Andrew sighed at the sight. Maybe... after all these years of drifting through the Euclid galaxy without any purpose other than survival... maybe he should finally settle down? This planet looked perfect. No one else has been here, so he could set up a base of operations and maybe a private trade fleet and open up a new trade route! Living in peace, trading stocks as a hobby.

The moment he stepped outside his Geiger meter went apeshit and the AI in his exo suit immediately spoke up. [External toxicity approximately 106.7.]

"Well, shit. Now I don't feel so bad about investing in those shielding mods."

[They do not last forever- anything over 100 is extremely taxing.]

"Yea, but it should buy enough time that I can find some sodium nitrate to overcharge them."

[Again, limited.]

"Right. But that should last long enough that I can fabricate an acid-resistant base."

[On a storm-ridden hellscape. Why.]

Andrew looked up through the clear sky and seen the unusually close moon dividing the entire visible sky with its chilly blue surface.

"You are an AI- you would not understand. It is beautiful. And untouched by man; peaceful. It is only two minutes away from the nearest populated solar system by Hyperdrive, but still remote enough that no one else is going to come here for a long ass time. I have been travelling for as long as I can remember man. I am tired. I just wanna build a home, see the sights. Chill out for once. Stop surviving and start thriving."

_"In the storm sure, but it doesn't storm ALL the time, we are in the clear right now."

[...no we are not. Sir, I would like you to look around for just a moment- preferably while running back to the ship.]

Andrew did not see why the exo suit was so uptight. He looked off into the distance though and seen the edge of the swirling storm clouds approaching, and rather fast at that. Then he noticed that they touched the ground. Then he quickly turned and seen the same thing in every direction. The storm never cleared in the first place. He is currently inside of a kilometer wide vortex of acid rain! He is standing directly in the eye of the storm- he basically landed in a giant toxic tornado! Andrew ran back toward his ship but he was already getting pelted by sideways flying drops of acid, flying through the air at the same speed as a bullet!_

[Aaagh, why did you not listen?]

"Why didn't you lead with the fact we are about to die?!"

[Why was I programmed to feel paaaaain.]

"Wait, what? But you are a suit, designed to shield me from pain..."

[Yes. I too believe it to be an inherent design flaw.]

Andrew managed to get to his ship- though his exo suit was already making hissing sounds where the liquid corroded it. He turned the ship on and the second he activated the thrusters and went to retract the landing gear, the ship was ripped off the ground and launched sideways, rolling across the field! The wings tore off immediately as it rolled across the planet at mach 2.

"W-well at least the window is pressure resistant since it is meant to travel in space." And as soon as he finished saying it, the window cracked.

[Sir, a submersible is protected against inward pressure. An extraterrestrial vehicle is shielded against outward pressure to prevent explosive decompression into the vacuum of space. It is ill-suited against exterior trauma.]

"B-but shielding against guns and stuff..."

[Plasma weapons. Plasma is its own state of matter, there is no solid material used in extra-solar weaponry. It is electrically generated heat that it resists, not impacts.]

A short while later the Atlas receives a ping of unusual size. [Entity 12048572, iteration 246-B has been extinguished. Data received. Re-purposing.]

Andrew gasped as he woke up, somehow already on his feet. He had no idea where he was or how he got here. Last thing he remembers is being on a toxic storm world in a grass field. Now he is on a lifeless planet with bizarre nonsensical geographic formations and absolutely covered in... plates of glass? The sky is completely black with a red glow where it meets the horizon. There are stained-glass windows floating in the air all over the place, and broken frames with cracked glass plates littering the ground. The entire world is covered with these! It is an entire planet of stained-glass. A glitched world. He walked in a straight line, trying to see anything he could recognize. He did not even have his exo suit! He was entirely naked, so he also had to be very careful where he stepped or he would cut his feet on all the glass! As he moved forward, the hills and cliffs seemed to shift around as if he were viewing them through a kaleidoscope! Nothing on this world made any sense. He heard a deep, electronic rumbling that was a machine speaking in the distance- but so loud he could clearly hear it. He could not see the source, and as an organic being he did not understand a damn thing it said.

A moment later his body felt so very strange, causing him to stop immediately. His spine felt tight and the bones pressed together tightly as it attempted to expand, but nothing else around it was growing, so rather than stretch out it just curved more and more- forcing him to hunch further and further forward! The vertebrae in his spine were expanding toward the middle, getting freakishly wide. They were being enriched with metallic elements which also started to bleed into the surface tissue and convert it- so the middle of his spine was now technically exposed to the open air without having broken the skin. The metal inside of him surged through his entire body, carried by his blood stream through swollen veins. His skin all over started to turn a golden color and harden. Inside of him, his bones were being robbed of their own elements, bleeding up through his tissue and collecting against the growing metallic component of his flesh. His endoskeleton was dissolving to give him an exoskeleton!

Where his joints were; breaks in the forming exoskeleton formed to divide it into plates, so he could still move around in spite of how hard his flesh was becoming. As his bones dissolved into a calcium jelly, the structure of his digits was lost. Rather than his metal exoskeleton forming over his individual toes and fingers, it formed over all of them- fusing them into one mass! Andrew moaned in a thunderously deep voice as his spine stretching across and becoming part of his overall back also pulled his ribs far enough to greatly expand his rib cage- which also started the ribs dissolving to harden his underside.

In most situations Andrew would probably be terrified, but the transformation did not hurt and honestly everything about the situation sort of pointed to it being a vivid dream. He woke up here without ever having actually come here in the first place, and all of reality around him shifted into nonsense with every movement, so the fact his body was also changing just sort of... fit the situation.

His feet started to lock up and he was forced to straighten them as the metallic chitin of his legs consumed them- not having a seam there for it to bend. His hands however were very much still there, just one big piece, and it was growing to match his forearm and upper arm, which was actually causing his overall arms to be bigger than his legs! Andrew was still trying to plod forward and find something he could recognize or use to get out of this place- thinking maybe if he got off this glitched world his body would revert. Without his feet his legs came to tapered points, which made walking very awkward, basically he was wobbling from one leg to the other. Eventually he was forced to fall onto all fours- his torso was forced into such a steep arch because of his spine, and the bone expanding into his flesh caused his entire torso so sort of equalize- making it look like a large sphere! Surprisingly, moving on all fours was easier than still trying to move on two. His arms are longer than his legs at this point so he has to keep them bent to keep his body level.

Andrew stopped when his vision turned blue from internal pressure- he could feel the bone material and new invasive metal leeching up from his skull onto the outside of his head! Inside it felt like a gentle outward pressure, on the surface it felt sort of like getting wet clay on your skin. It is malleable at first but quickly starts to thicken and turn hard. His lips projected out a bit as a hard ridge following his mouth and jaw hinge. His eyelids reshaped and turned stiff- leaving a circular opening to look out of rather than a slit. His eyes enlarged, his brow formed a hard ridge across his face, and both the front of his face pushed out a bit and the back of his head especially. Between the hardening of his skin and the stretching of its structure, most of his facial features were lost, including his nose! Andrew was forced to breath out of his mouth for the time being. The chitin built up especially dense around his knee joints and curled out a bit, forming dull upturned spikes to protect what would otherwise be a point of weakness.

His pelvis was pulled outward from the rounding of his torso, till it became too soft and popped apart entirely just becoming the back of the sphere that is his body now. This however caused a jolt of unwanted pleasure in his groin as changes started to give him an unexpected boner because the movement triggered pleasure nerves within. He felt his prostate swell up inside, then his taint swelled larger as a now hard bulge along his underside leading from his anus- which no longer had butt cheeks flanking it. His testicles swelled massively in a sudden surge that was so quick it actually made an audible gurgling sound! They did not sink any lower though- the scrotum did not change size, so when they grew too large they were yanked tightly against his torso for lack of space, and then the scrotal flesh started to harden into the rest of his carapace, which popped the large balls into his torso hiding them from sight. His penis felt almost itchy with internal blood pressure and the glans turned deep violet as the shaft started to stretch longer! Lucky for Andrew- a general rule is that the less mobile the creature is, the larger its genitals need to be in order for coupling to still work. And this creature is clumsy as heck.

The shaft started to arch back and forth and bob with his pulse as it stretched further and further from the stability of his torso. His foreskin was stretched seemingly out of existence entirely, but the more tender flesh beyond it started to swell larger, easier than the rest of the shaft. The small bumps on his corona started to grow out into barbs and as the shaft around it balloons outward the corona becomes stretched into obscurity as well. This pulls the barbs apart, spreading them out around the wide area at the end of his shaft, as it grows into a large football shaped bulb! He has at least two feet worth of regular shaft and another foot and a half of the large bulbous end on it for a three and a half foot dick! The entire bulb area went from neon pink to violet, to purple with pressure. It still itched with internal pressure and felt too good- distracting him from his situation. He swung his rear and bowed down and up again swinging the cock around, feeling the bending of the shaft tickle the pleasure nerves inside and especially when it slapped his underside!

The need to let the ocean of fluid out was erasing his ability to think about anything else. Little did he realize that his actual brain was simplifying- though none of his existing knowledge was being erased. He had to use his arms to hold himself up and had no hands anyway. He tried to reach the end of his shaft with his mouth but it was just slightly too short for that- also he no longer had a tongue. He has two mandibles fused to the inside of his cheeks that hook food and drag it into his throat when he is done chewing. His effort to try and reach his cock however instigated one final change. His vision went blue again a moment as his neck swelled absolutely massive- yanking the metal chitin plates of his head and torso apart, exposing the largest section of bare flesh on his entire body! Two broad pits formed toward the back of his extremely thick neck and a sudden rush of air entered his lungs, now no longer needing to breathe through his mouth! The two craters in his neck are actually large nostril-like opening straight to his lungs, but the openings are covered with a membrane that filters toxins from the air he breaths.

With this added size to his neck he was able to reach his dick, getting the last tenth of it in his mouth at least, which was enough to set him over the edge almost immediately that he had been paused on for too long already. His cum was so thick he could feel it firing up the entire length. If it was any more dense it would almost be chewy. There was not a lot of it, but the orgasm still lasted some time and was very powerful in order to get it up and out of such a long length of phallus. These creatures actually have two methods of breeding- the willing mating which is pretty standard insertion, and then plan B. When the females are too aggressive to approach normally to ask normally- the males can use their long phallus like a whip and ram one of the hard spikes on their bulbous glans through her softer chitin. The spikes contain packets of dormant sperm in waiting. This is a more insectoid form of mating.

Andrew's body was a giant sphere of metallic chitin, except for a few stripes of exposed skin that help take oxygen in through its pours. His neck is not that long but exceptionally thick, and his head vaguely tear-shaped. His eyes strongly resemble those of a chameleon- including their ability to look in two different directions at the same time. There are two circular vents on the side of the head- two are ear holes, two are decoy eyes to fool predators. The chitin all over its body does not grow especially even- there are clusters of small bumps and some clusters of small round pockets. The creature was given the designation H. Cololioe by the Atlas, but has since then been given the humanized name of Golecryst. In any seam or depression anywhere on its body, it turned grey-green because the golden-brown chitin is a high concentration of copper- copper rusts green. His exposed skin is grey, but also stains slightly green from the metal tarnish.

The Atlas let him wander a bit and get used to the body. Andrew did not notice green crystals forming out of a slight depression at the very top of his spherical body. The crystals are the solidified chemicals that killed him- his new body was condensing them and rejecting them in the form of a crystalline adornment that only serves to strengthen its back. A much less noticeable change is that rather than socket to a joint on his torso, his shoulder and hip structure actually jut out and socketed into his limbs instead. This was virtually unnoticeable on his front legs, but on his back legs the bone just out of the sides of his torso a bit before connecting to his actual leg- and that was exposed skin not in chitin. Andrew was unable to ponder his situation fully. His new mind only worked in forward thinking- he could not really reflect on anything that already happened; only think about what was currently happening. This caused him to be unable to worry about the current state of his body.

Andrew blinked and found himself in a familiar place! He did not recognize the ship as his own, but recognized the ruins smeared across the ground as a former ship. He would be sad that he could no longer fly one but... he did not really feel like travelling. Strange snake-butterfly creatures fluttered softly in the breeze. The storm here had long since past, though the environment still toxic even on the best of days. The membrane over the opening in his neck filtered out the toxins from the air, and the rest is condensed and turned to crystals to wear on his back- he is immune to the poisons of this world. The brand of acid that falls from the sky has no effect on copper... which his chitin is mostly comprised of.

Andrew died as a human, but the Atlas does not waste 'soul' data. Andrew was essentially reincarnated, and placed right back onto the planet he died on. He wanted to build a peaceful existence here- and now he can.
