In Love with a Gryphon - Chapter 4: "The Unspeakable" (Part 1)
"Can I open my eyes now?" Diamond asked
"No, it is a surprise" I answered.
She squealed when she felt empty space beneath her feet. "Aaahhhh!!!, let me open my eyes!"
"No" I chuckled, "trust me, BTW, watch your step, these stairs are tricky, we're almost there"
"Where are you taking me, anyway?" she asked, a chill ran across her spine.
"To your new room" I answered as fresh as a lettuce
"Hey, wait me a minute XiLluminum" she stopped walking "I am not supposed to take the egg to my place and then inform you of all what happens to it?"
"No" I answered "I made it clear to you last night that I had to keep an eye to that egg, it is my responsibility to ensure its safety."
"Do you mean that you don't trust me?" She asked offended
"I haven't said no" I answered calmly. "Personal motives that I won't explain to you right now". I pushed her and continued walking. "Now, close your eyes again. I promise you that I won't do anything unlawful."
"OK" She sighed, and closed her eyes.
I guided her through long corridors and halls, when a maid ran towards me and said " XiLluminum, sir" She panted, and bent on her knees.
- "Gain your breath little one, what's going on?" I asked
She stood up again and said "The room is ready, you may go now and lead your, uhm... girlfriend in".
I chuckled, and said "She's not my girlfriend, just a friend that will help me with some business".
"My mistake" she closed her eyes, breathed deeply and said "I suppose I must be punished".
"Yes, you will" I said severely, "now, you're dismissed, go to my Lab this night, after dinner, I'll be waiting you there".
"Yes sir" she left, tears filled her eyes.
"I think you shouldn't have been so rude with that human girl, she made no fatal mistake" Diamond said.
I moaned and said, "Please, don't spoil this, I'm not going to punish her... so hard" remarked grinning.
We continued walking, until I said "This is it, open your eyes"
"What? I don't see nothing except these beautifully carved stone doors" she said
"Exactly you've seen nothing" I clapped my palms, a buzzing sound came from the stone, and the doors opened entirely. The white light that poured from the entrance blinded both of us for a sec, and what Diamond saw left her astonished.
"Oh my Gawd!" she exclaimed "Did you do this for me?" Tears filled her eyes. "Nobody has ever treated me like this!"
"It is the least I could do for you" I answered, happy to see that she was happy.
It was an enormous room, big windows that ensured a spectacular view of the valley, in the center, stood a bed specially made to sit on the egg and to make the dragoness feel comfortable; beneath the bed, was a beautiful silken carpet.. In the far side of the room (to the right) there was an enormous closet full of the finest dragoness clothing, and the decorations were the most exquisite landscape paintings I found in my treasury. Form the ceiling hung a golden chandelier. The source of light was obviously enchanted spherical draconites that floated a few inches above the lamps. And, in one corner, there was a large stack of food on a triple layered platter. By the food, were large jugs of water and the finest wine of my cava, made with the ripest and sweetest grapes of my vineyards. Beside the food was a maid, who would feed the dragoness and serve her in any way that she could, all day and night long.
- "What if I need to go to the bathroom?" The dragoness asked.
I walked past her and stood next to the closet. A doorknob was there; it was a fake door. I opened the door, and led Diamond into an enormous white marble bathroom. There was a silver sink; the softest linen towels were neatly arranged next to it. 4 lamps hung from the walls; one was hanging above a full body mirror. In the centre of the bathroom, was a huge tub that seemed a small swimming pool; soap bars were placed next to it.
"Well, I think this will be enough during your stay. Feel free to ask all what you may desire" I said. "Oh, and feel as in your home".
"Thank you so much!" she sniffed.
"Oh, I forgot" I handed her 3 things the first one was a small device with a red button "Push it if you need something" I said; secondly, a map of the mountain, it showed all the halls and rooms that were inside the mountain, and finally a small package. The dragoness unwrapped it. She looked at me surprised, and before she could speak I said "A small gift to my new friend". It was a silver necklace decorated with gold filigree, in the center, 3 gemstones were attached to the chain: 2 diamonds and them, a big draconite, shaped as a half-sphere, it was transparent while it touched the paper, but when she fastened it to her neck, the draconite changed color into a clear pink.
Diamond was amazed with that and said nothing.
- "Before you leave..." She approached to me, and gave me a long, fiery and passionate French kiss on my muzzle, tears running through her cheeks. "Thank you" she said.
Before I left I took her claws between mines, took a small silver coffin from one of the shelves that stood next to the bed, and gave it to her "Take care of it as your own life" I said.
- "I will" she promised
I left the room slowly; joy filled my heart that evening, and I roared delighted. The dragoness joined my roar with hers. The walls trembled with the pitch note of our roars.
Now that the first thing was done, I needed to fix other business. Someone needed correction for her actions, yes, it was the maid. So I hurried through a corridor to a secret door. After being certain that nobody watched me, I opened the door and closed it quietly. I pushed a button, and a voice came out of the ceiling. It was Citrine, my computer, "Hello, welcome to the Mountain Transit System".
"Hello Citrine, Please turn on this shit and take me to the Lab, level 3"
"Security password" she said. A screen appeared form the left wall, and keyboard slid out of it, as well.
I typed in the password, "************" and a message was displayed in the screen: "PROCESSING........" . Finally the same voice said "Welcome XiLluminum, we'll reach our destination in the mountain's top in 3 minutes".
A sound of moving machines started, and the little room trembled violently, the speed of the ascension increased. I waited until a bell rang, and it stopped. A door opened, and lights turned on. I stepped outside, and I found myself in a big hall, with weird machines and tools scattered all over the floor and worktables, Citrine's main core was placed in a wall far to my left, there a huge screen displayed the words: WELCOME. STATUS............. READY TO SERVE.
I went to the computers console, and instructed her to deploy in the laboratory the MaXXX Machine. A device I invented to "torture" all the servants who misbehaved. Precisely when I was cleaning the machine, and making some adjustments, somebody opened the door. It was the maid.

The maid was terrorized, she was pale, and sweat covered her forehead. "Don't be afraid" I said, "I promise nothing... too bad... will happen to ya'"
I stepped out the machine, and walked to its main control panel. I pushed a red button, and the machine started to "heat up". After a few seconds, I pressed another button and pulled a lever. I opened the stone doors, and what I saw left me frozen. A great chill ran along my spine. Diamond has hurt and tied in a corner of the room, she whimpered scared. I turned around trying to see the egg, but I found nothing. My heart stopped. It couldn't be! Somebody had stolen the egg!! I felt a gush of chilling wind coming from the window; it was broken.
I hurried to check Diamond and untied her. She had several wounds, and blood was covering her body. She was too weak to walk, and hardly breathed. When she saw me, she whispered. "I have failed... they came and took the egg away"
"Who??!!" I shouted in despair "Who took the egg???!!"
"Them" she whispered again "A group... of 30 dragons..." She breathed with difficultly "I did my best to protect the egg, but couldn't" And with that phrase, she fainted.
"HELP!!!" I shouted. Tears ran down my cheeks "A DOCTOR HURRY!!!!"
A few minutes later a doctor, and 5 servants, including the punished maid, took Diamond to the medical bay, at the base of the mountain. "She is strong, she will survived, don't worry" the doctor calmed me.
After they left I scanned the room looking for clues of who was the responsible of the crime. I found a note that said.
"Lord Drakken,
The egg was last seen in the Valley of Light, near the base of the so called iLlumina Mountain, go and bring it back to me. I send a map with this letter, go get it, or you'll suffer the consequences."
Nobody signed the letter, but I did found the map, it was near the window. It showed the whole continent, and some patches of land that laid across the Great Ocean. My mountain was marked with red ink, and then the same mark appeared to the east of it.
"There is where I must go" I figured out
I went outside the room, and ordered some servants to clean the mess up. The egg had to be saved again, and I had no clue of whom I was facing. I hurried upstairs to the armory again, and fetched a sword, then I moved into the treasury and picked up a few bags of gold, some jewels and my magical amulet. It was a big golden necklace with a draconite shaped into a dragon. The moment I put on the necklace, the gemstone turned as red as the wine. I was furious.
I put some clothing, the gold bags and some surplus into my backpack. I fetched the map, and tied my swords to the hips, and blasted into the black sky. That night no star shone above my head, just a dark mass of clouds approached, and lightening tore the sky. A storm was to commence...
