Chapter Eight.

In the heat of Passion

After finishing their breakfast at the Castelia City pokemon center a little while after Evin's confrontation with Zora in their room. While Dawn took some food for the pokemon up to their room, Evin was thinking about everything he had known about the game and series versions of this world. He was feeling bugged this morning as he still had the nagging feeling he needed to make his team stronger. But as he thought about it, he still felt like his own powers had surpassed all of his own pokemon's put together, and they had no chance to catch up.

His thoughts of how to make his pokemon stronger then himself soon remained him of one of the movies he once watched that had the powerful pokemon named Victini. But he wasn't exactly sure where it might actually be. In the game version of the world, it was supposed to live near the city they were in at Liberty Island. But if he was wrong and it lived at the strange castle that he had no idea where to find or was roaming the world, then he would be wasting a lot of time and effort looking for it. He wondered if it would be worth his while to try and catch it, or if he should just focus on what they were currently doing.

Over the few months he had been living in this world though, he had come realize that many things that hadn't been in the game and had been only on the show had revealed themselves. This in a way brought him to the conclusion that when he had been brought to this world, that his own knowledge of it and other things might have been used as well. So there was a good chance that Victini wasn't where it was in the game.

Evin also couldn't help but notice Dawn was also acting a bit strange today also. Because as they visited stores and just looked at stuff as they window-shopped, she seemed to continuously hum happy tunes and was abnormally happy about nothing in particular. It eventually came out that he asked her why she was in such a good mood and she told him tomorrow was her birthday, and that she would finally be fourteen.

It had totally slipped Evin's mind in all his time with her to actually ask her exactly how old she was, much less when her birthday was. He knew they didn't have much money though to get trinkets, so he was a bit silent for a few more hours till he had a fantastic idea.

His original plan for the egg he had at the pokemon center was to give the new pokemon that hatched from the egg to Professor Juniper. Now it was Dawn's turn to wonder why Evin had a big smile on his face, as she even asked about it, but he refused to say as they spent the rest of the day just talking and milling about at the sights. It was just getting dark when they returned to the pokemon center and then had dinner. Afterwards they both took a bunch of pokemon food up to the room they were still checked into, where they found most of the pokemon asleep and snoozing from exerting themselves the entire time they had been out, the others were too tired to even pay them any attention.

Dawn giggled a little at how tired everyone was and laid on her bed to make some calls for a while to old friends and her parents. He felt more determined than ever to complete his quest, no matter who stood before him or how long it took, he was determined to achieve his goal.

Just as he came to that conclusion of him building his determination back up, he heard the creak of the door and saw little Zora walk in. But was Ash the backup plan incase he himself failed or died?

Nurse Joy after telling him these things then said with a blush on her face, "It is also a known fact that humans can in fact fertilize a lucario's egg." Evin's world almost did a three sixty when he heard this, and blurted out, "What!? How?" Nurse Joy then continued and said, "Scientists still haven't figured out exactly how. But its been known to happen frequently in these situations."

Evin began tripping over his own words, but managed to say, "What kind of kids do they have when this happens?" Joy then said, "They lay eggs just like all pokemon do, and from what I know of it, when the egg hatches it should be just a regular riolu. I don't know the exact way it happens, but these offspring are supposed to be just like any other riolu of their kind." With that said, she let him get up and get dressed before saying with a cheery sound in her voice, "Have a nice day." and made for the door.

Once she was out of the room as he redressed, he waited until Dawn reentered and asked with a rather upset almost angry tone, "Was that really necessary?
