Dragon in my room!?
#3 of The Silver Dragon
"BEEP! BEEP!"
Sky looked at his alarm,
"6:30..."
Sky sat up and sighed,
"Another day....but I'm sure today will be better!"
Sky said that same thing to himself everyday but it was always the same, but he refused to give up, if he stayed positive and helped others he was sure good things would happen!
Sky was 15 years old and had a slim body but wasn't very muscular. He was just below average height and had thick, wild blond hair.He had a beautiful pair of sky blue eyes; which was the reasoning behind his name. His mother always used to say his eyes were as bright and happy as the summer sky, which always made him smile.
Unfortunately his mother passed away when he was 7 years old due to a car accident on her way to work and he was now living with his mean and constantly drunk uncle. His uncle would often bellow insults across the room when he came home from school and didn't lift a finger to help Sky in any way. But he wasn't going to let that bring him down, his mother always used to tell him that good things happen to good people and that you'd never know when they will happen, and he believed this to be true.
Sky turned of the alarm and rose from his bed, scanning his room. His room was pretty normal for someone his age, TV in the corner with a PS3 sitting below it, next to that a one person chair made of black leather, a big oak wardrobe and a small wooden desk in the other corner of the room. A swivel computer chair was tucked underneath the desk and piles of homework and pictures he had drawn untidily scattered across it.
Sky loved to draw it was the only thing that took him away from the world, his favourite things to draw were mythical creatures and really wished they he could meet one and even be friends with it. He would hide his drawings from everyone else because he was somewhat shy and didn't want people to think he was weird and crazy.
He left his room and into the bathroom, where he jumped into the shower. The cold water hit him like large blobs of hail, he squealed at first but let out a long sigh as it heated to a comfortable temperature, it felt great against his aching body. He began to think about school. He was dreading school, he knew most people his age disliked school but it was much harder for him.
Sky enjoyed learning and would only occasionally daydream; he always handed his work in on time and was polite and friendly to everyone. So Sky couldn't understand why but no one at school liked him-they treated him like a freak even though they knew nothing about him, even the staff gave him strange looks and treated him differently,
"What's wrong with me?" he would often wonder,
"Did I do something wrong?"
He didn't get it and he especially didn't understand what had happened to him a week ago.
It was lunch time. Sky had made his own lunch- a ham sandwich, some crisps and a bottle of coke. He did what he always did; sat alone on the wall beside the bike shed with his MP3 in, listening to his favourite band: Snow Patrol. He was listening to his favourite song and didn't notice the group of 3 boys approaching from the other side of the wall until they had pushed him off. He got up, dazed and confused. And saw a group of boys all slightly older, taller and more muscular than him, he gulped.
"What did they want?"he thought.
Then he noticed something, the one in the middle struck him as familiar, he had seen him-or at least his picture before, but where?
Then it hit him like a ton of bricks."You're the head's son!" exclaimed Sky,
"Yup" he replied "and that means that I can do WHATEVER I want to you and you can't do anything about it, Shorty."
The other boys snickered at his remark as Sky realized just how bad this situation was for him. What did he do to deserve this?
"Why wo-"
But Sky's plea was interrupted by a swift kick to the leg from one of the boys. Sky fell to the ground writhing in pain as they came upon him and brutally attacked him. Kicks to the ribs, elbows to the chest and punches to the head struck him while he just lay there, defenceless against their merciless onslaught. The bell rang signalling the end of lunch time and interrupting their massacre. They casually left chatting as if nothing had transgressed behind them. Sky lay there winded, bruised and bleeding with only one thing on his mind,
"Why me? He thought. "Wh-"Then he fell unconscious.
Since then every day they had bullied him whenever possible and the worst part is no one cared or even tried to stop it. Just because he's the son of the Head does that make it okay to brutally attack a fellow student?
He felt tears streaming down his face, he didn't want to cry, he wanted to believe things will get better, but it kept getting harder and harder. He brushed away the tears and tried to remain as optimistic as possible.
He stepped out of the shower grabbing a warm towel off the heater and dried his eyes. His optimism returning as he had just thought of a reason behind the spontanious bullying.
"Maybe, maybe that's their new hangout spot...yeah, and that they thought I was stealing it, if I explain it to them I'm sure they'll stop!"
He kept telling himself that it was true as he dried himself off and returned to his room. Sky opened his wardrobe and got a fresh pair of boxers and his uniform; his uniform consisted of smart, black trousers, a black leather belt and a white polo shirt with the school's logo sewn on. He pulled the clothes on, done up the belt and sat on the swivel chair to finish a piece of homework.
He was going to finish it the night before but he was so worn out that he had slumped straight onto his bed, it was due in today and he didn't want to get in trouble. He sighed,
"Algebra...great."
Sky didn't mind algebra at all but at this early in the morning he found it hard to focus on anything. He found his mind drifting to his drawings; one specifically. A dragon he drew yesterday. It was a teenage dragon wearing jeans and a black top with three gold triangles in the centre. It had black hair, green eyes and was completely silver. This picture was different from the rest, like he was told to draw it; a preminition...
He shrugged it off and tried to finish his maths homework off, but his mind kept wandering back to the picture as if it was trying to say something to him, but what?
Sky leapt out of the chair in surprise as a bright light filled his room, he shielded his eyes and waited for the strange light to dissipate. Finally it stopped and Sky's expression shifted into one of total shock. Standing in front of him was a tall man dressed in armour that was a heavenly white and on his bed was...it was the dragon from his picture!
He rubbed his eyes, his heart pounding against his chest. Thinking it was an illusion or trick of the light, but there they were; an armoured man and the dragon from his picture.
"How-how could thi-"
The armoured man interrupted him before he could finish,
"I will explain everything."
His voice was deep and heroic, a voice that commands respect. Sky understood and sat down.
"You can call me Light,"
