Chapter 26

Since his encounter with Koga Venus took it upon herself to train Chase. The training was rigorous and Chase got more than his fair share of injuries. Athena objected constantly not liking the fact that her mate was being beaten up on a regular basis. It was worth it though because Athena was his personal physician but Athena didn't not see it that way however. If she had her way Chase would never need to worry about fighting but what's done was done. While Chase was asleep Athena confronted Venus.

"Why did you tell Chase about the duels Venus!?" She growled.

"You can't protect him forever." Venus said.

"I CAN protect him!" Athena growled.

"You mean like you did when Thorn attacked? Or when Kira got him? You have only proven that you CAN'T protect him. You know full well that he WILL need to fight at some point." Venus shot back before walking out side.

Venus was right. There was going to be times when Athena wouldn't be able to protect him. And many dragons will disapprove of them being together. Ace was in the same boat though he knew how to defend himself. Many dragons hated him and even more wanted him dead but only the bravest dared try. The fact that his mother was a warlord played a HUGE part in that. She was the strongest female feline and known for her ferocity.

Outside Chase was resting on the couch. Every joint in his body was aching and his body was covered deep cuts. He then felt something blocking his sun and opened his eyes to see Venus standing over him.

"Break is time over." She said gesturing him to follow.

He followed her to the back yard where she tossed him a shinai. Chase caught it with one hand. Venus then threw a kunai at him and Chase deflected it with ease.

"You've handled swords before?" She asked.

"My older brother taught me when I was little." He said.

Chase went through the motions with great easy. He clearly has a lot of skill and was well trained. When it came to hand to hand combat Chase was as weak and pathetic as they came but give him a sword and he could be a threat. Ace saw Chase with the shinai and went outside. Venus let Chase get in close but the dragoness summoned her elemental ability and blasted the human point blank right in the chest. The wind blast cut right through his sword, his shirt and even his skin sending him crashing into the ground.

"Have Athena tend to your wounds." Venus said flatly.

Chase weakly stood up blood dripping from the massive cut on his chest.

"I'm fine. You just surprised me was all." He said.

Suddenly Venus had her talon fully extended pressed to his throat, a small drop of blood made its way down his neck. Chase didn't even see her move.

"In battle surprised is just another word for dead and if this was a real duel you would be." She said.

The dragoness pulled her talon away walking into the house.

"Don't you think maybe you were a little too hard on him?" Ace asked.

"Don't question my methods." She snapped as she walked past him.

"Don't take it personally, She is like that towards everyone" Athena said as she walked past Ace to tend to Chase.

"I wish you wouldn't push yourself." She said as she tended to his chest.

"I need to get stronger." Chase said.

"Yes, but remember Rome wasn't built in a day." She sail poking him playfully.

Chase sighed as She healed his chest wounds first She then had him lay down on his back as she healed his neck injuries. The wounds on his neck were small but a lot deeper than she thought. As the dragoness leaned over him her large bust was mere inches from his face. She was wearing new cloths instead of her normal tank top and cargo pants. She was wearing blue booty shorts and a black halter top. The human blushes as she was also not wearing a braw or panties. Athena looked and saw his blush.

"Someone likes what they see." She said grin.

"What are you talking about?" Chase said looking away blushing.

"You're eyeballing my breasts!" She countered looking very cross.

Chase blushed even harder as now he is in an even more awkward position. Not only was she leaning over him wearing a small halter top with no bra but now he got caught checking her out. Chase knew that one of the easiest ways to offend a female is when they see you checking them out. They get even madder if they catch you staring at their chests. In most cases that situation ends in one of three ways, The girl slaps the person, tells the person off, throws something in the person's face, cusses them out, or in some cases they do all of the above. Chase was about to speak but Athena cut him off.

"You can...touch them if you want." Athena said as she started to blush a little.

Chase starred at her in disbelief.

"W-What?" He asked not sure if her heard her right.

"I said you can touch my breasts if you want. I know I am small and human males like girls with big chests... so I understand if you don't want to." She repeated blushing harder.

Chase was taken aback. He never expected her to say that. Athena was giving him full consent to touch her breasts to his hearts desire but what surprised him more was that Athena considered herself to be small. She was at the very least G by human standards which was huge. He was half tempted at ask her breasts size but decided not to sense she was clearly sensitive about it. He wanted to touch but from some reason he was holding back. Part of him wondered if she why would she openly allow him to do it. Athena has never done anything like this before. Acting loose was not in her character so why the sudden change. Was she worried that he may lose interest if she didn't? Or was this a test to see if he would actually do it or not.

"Chase its okay really...Go ahead." Athena said stroking his cheek.

She gently took his hand in her paw and guided it to her right breast but when it was mere centimeters from making contact the young couple got sprayed by ice cold water both of them shrieking with shock. Venus stood there holding a garden hose.

"Don't you two have ANY self control? Groping each other out in public..." Venus said as she kept spraying them.

"Damn it Venus shut off the fucking water!" Athena shouted as deflected the water stream with a glowing paw.

After a few Minutes Venus turned off the water leaving both Chase and Athena soaking wet. Sora watched from the roof sighed shaking her head.

"And the over protective sister strikes again...Just when things were getting interesting." She thought to herself.

Athena then noticed Chase shivering and places a glowing paw on his shoulder. She closed her eyes and began to tighten her focus. All the water and moisture began to get pulled from Chase's body to where her glowing paw was. She slowly pulled her paw away taking the water with it. Chase gazed in awe as she held the water in mid air. She sighed and dropped the body of water to the ground leaving the human nice and dry. Chase couldn't help by clap. Athena smiles and blushed. She suddenly felt weak and stumble at bit but recovered.

"Are you okay?" Chase Asked concerned.

"Just a little dizzy." Athena said as she rubs her forehead.

"You took an embarrassing moment and made it work in your favor...Well played Athena...but that sudden dizziness...." Sora thought to herself.

Back inside the house Sakura lay on the couch with her eyes closed in total bliss as Kiyo massaged her back. She loved it when he did this as very few things made her unwind, plus it may Julie so jealous she would see green, her tail swished from side to side as she let out a pleased murr.

"Kiyo you are so good with your hands..." Sakura said

Before Kiyo could respond Julie came jumping over the back of the couch not noticing Sakura lie there landing on her back. Sakura yelped and Julie jumped off immediately. The two sisters were soon in each other's faces growling loudly.

"Watch where you're sitting fat ass!" Sakura growled

"Why don't YOU watch where you are laying tramp?" Julie shot back.

"The bitch who bedded 100 males is calling ME a tramp!?" Sakura spat.

"The difference between us is while you're busy flirting I am getting the job done!" Julie countered.

"Break it up you two! I am not your baby sitter so stop acting like children!" Kiyo said getting between to two.

The two sighed as their ears drooped. Neither of them liked upsetting Kiyo and he was right.

"We're sorry." They said in unison.

Kiyo sigh and rubbed his temples as he sat back on the couch with both girls joining him. Upstairs in the lab Yoshi was surfing the web keeping track of a strange sickness that was sweeping the globe and it was only affecting furs. The infected furs seemed to show signs of poisoning but there was no way to tell what it was from and it was spreading rapidly, thousands of furs had already died from the illness and the numbers kept rising. She took the time to test some water she got from the tap. She gasped. There were strong traces of ion radiation. She then rushed down stairs and took a sample of the earth's soil and ran back upstairs and tested it. She got the same result. The ground also was hot. Ion radiation was poisonous to furs; exposure meant certain death which is why the reptoids used it as a weapon. She remembered Sora mentioning that Kira had a weapon of mass destruction that used ion energy and how he destroyed Sakura's home town with it in a single blast. A weapon of that size would unleash a lot of radiation.

There was also Odin's ship the Oblivion. The F.T.S was just a modified turret from that ship whitch meant that It too gave off Ion radiation. The ship was the size of Manhattan which meant is emitted A LOT of Ion energy, enough to cover a small planet like earth in radiation. This is what's poisoning the furs. And now earth was no longer safe for them to live on. Yoshi then came across an article about the radiation.

Furs were already preparing to leave the planet and many already have. Armed officers made sure all slave furs were freed from their human owners. Many fur sectors still had working carrier ships which were used to transport them to earth in the first place. The furs of Nobility such as pack leaders and diplomats had their own private vessels. Even fur sectors destroyed during Kira's raids still has working ship so evacuating the planet wasn't the major issue. But how was she going to tell everyone that they would have to leave the people they have become so close to? To say it will be devastating news would be an understatement especially for Sakura and Athena, They will have to leave their mates, possibly for ever. The Akita felt tears well up in her eyes buy quickly dried them when she heard a knock on the door. She gave the OK to enter and Sora walked in with a depressed look.

"You already know don't you?" Yoshi said.

Sora nodded.

"Light dragons can sense all types of energy, radiation is no exception. The levels are too high and Athena is already feeling the effects though she is dismissing it as exhaustion." Sora said

"Then you are aware that it's your fault." Yoshi said.

Sora sighed and nodded. Even though Kira was behind the war as queen part of the responsibility was hers as well. She knew Athena was going to be devastated to have to leave Chase. She went back outside to tell Athena. Meanwhile Kiyo heard a knock on the door and went to answer it. It was Julie's and Sakura's mother Marin; he then looked past her and saw a large ship sitting not far off. He recognized it from history books as a fur galactic cruiser. Designs to travel across the stars owned only to those of high class and nobility.

"Hello Kiyo...I need to speak with you...and my daughters." She said with her ears dropping.

Sakura and Julie heard the talking and got up. The two saw the look on their mother's face and that the family cruiser was sitting curbside.

"Mom what's going on here?" Julie asked.

"I wish I could have come under better circumstances....I am sure you are aware of the illness going around?" Marin asked.

The girls nodded. They both were aware of it but thought it was just some virus.

"The illness is caused by ion radiation...the very same radiation that destroyed Eclipse and our home world. Now it's spreading and the levels are rising higher every day. I'm sure I don't need to tell you what that means...." Marin said.

"Mother what are you saying?" Sakura asked.

Marin looked down saying nothing but Julie started to tear up knowing full well what Marin was saying. Marin took a deep breath before speaking.

"Sakura the ion radiation levels will soon be too high for any of us to survive we have to leave the planet... I'm sorry but its time for you and Kiyo to say goodbye..." Marin said.

Sakura stared and Marin and disbelief. Her ears went flat against her head. She then ran up stairs and Kiyo followed her. He found her sobbing in her pillow he sat next to her and put a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm not going, for the first time in my life I am actually happy and I am not giving that up! I'll die first!!" She said weakly.

"Sakura, I don't want you to die period." Kiyo Said.

"AND I don't want to say goodbye." She countered.

"Why can't I just go with you?" Kiyo asked.

"Furs require less oxygen than humans. You wouldn't survive on any of our colonies and nobody knows when the radiation will clear up. Could be centuries... Millennia even!" Sakura responded.

"I see...I know we will see each other again though." Kiyo said.

"How can you be so sure?" Sakura asked.

"Time moves quickly. A few months ago I was just some average collage student on a break in the mountains when I found you in the pitfall trap now look where we are, but if there is going to be a tomorrow you need to go with them." He said.

"I'll admit I didn't think much of you when we first met...But now I can't imagine my life without you." She said

Sakura sighed and looked at him

"The second your race is capable of interstellar travel you BETTER look me up..." She said.

"It's a deal but the same goes if you are ever in our solar system." Kiyo said.

Sakura hugged him tightly as she relaxed a bit but her heart was still hurting as was Kiyo's.

After Kira attacked the fur home world the masses scattered. The bulk of the survivors went to earth but others settled on other planet forming colonies many of which were in the territory of one of the 7 warlords. Those who took shelter in a warlord's territory were expected to give some form of payment in what ever way shape or form the warlord wished. In return the colony is placed under the warlord's protection. Lamia had one of the largest fur colonies under her rule. In return for living in her territory, she asked only one tribute from every city of the fur's choice so long as it had value and she refused to take fur slaves however, despite her kind nature she was known for her appetite any fur who crossed her ran the very high risk of being eaten alive be them male, female or cub.

Sora walked outside and called Athena and Chase over. She closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath.

"Athena. We need to go back to Wyvern." Sora said calmly.

"I am not going back. I decided I am going to stay here." Athena said wrapping her tail around Chase.

"Athena you CAN'T stay here...Not anymore." Sora said.

"What are you getting at mother?" Athena asked getting irritated, releasing Chase from her hold.

The dragoness stumbled a bit as another stronger dizzy spell hit but like the others before it disappeared.

"Do you remember how E.T ended?" Venus asked as she walked over.

"I am NOT sick!" Athena growled.

"Athena dizziness is the first symptom of stage 1 ion radiation poisoning. If you stay on this planet you WILL die! Use your head! " Venus said.

"Venus that's enough." Sora said.

"No mother she needs to hear this." Venus shot back.

"This planet is no longer inhabitable. The longer you stay the more you are exposed. Right now you are only in the first stage which means if you leave the planet now your body can fight off the illness and you will be fine but if you stay here you will get sicker and sicker until you die. Did you even CONSIDER what that would do to Chase? I know you want to stay I get it but you need to start thinking about the bigger picture. And start thinking of Chase instead of yourself." Venus said

"There is NOTHING I wouldn't do for him!" Athena roared.

"Then start acting like a mate and not a selfish hatchling." Venus said.

"This discussion is over...." Athena said as she stormed past Sora and the rest.

"Next time your mother says to stop you should listen." Ace said.

Ace went to follow her but he saw Sora shake her head at him letting him know that it was best to leave her be. He could also see Jasmine clinging to Jaden sobbing loudly.

"How long will it take for the radiation to clear up?" Chase asked.

"That is something even we do not know." Sora answered.

"Can't I go with you?" He asked.

"I'm afraid oxygen levels on our planet are too low to sustain human life." Sora responded

Chase then took off after Athena and found her in the basement. Athena sniffled and dried her eyes.

"Sorry you had to see me lose it like that...Its just...I can't lose you again I can't bare it." Athena said burying her head into her paws.

"Athena...I love you and I swear to you I WILL see you again." Chase said.

The dragoness shot him a glare.

"Don't make promises you can't keep." She growled

"I have never made a promise I couldn't keep. And I have never steered you wrong. We WILL meet again I promise." Chase said.

"I'm going to hold you to your word, and if you break your promise I will hunt you down." She said as she held him in her arms.

She then took out a medallion and put it around his neck. It was made from pure gold with an amulet shaped like a dragon's eye. The slit pupil was made from pure purple diamond and the chain was platinum.

"Only members of the royal family wear these in stead of a crown or tiara." She said.

"Athena I can't take this." Chase said.

"Please...I want you to have it...to remember me by. Now remember your promise." She said tearing up.

"To see each other again I know." Chase said

"Don't make me hunt you down." Athena said as Chase helped her up.

"It seems like only yesterday you washed up on the beach." Chase said.

"Yeah...I wasn't exactly too kind to you back then and I am sorry for that." She said.

"Well I was a stranger to you." He said. "Even so I feel bad about it." She countered" "Hey it all worked out in the end and I want to thank you." He said. "For what?" Athena asked. "For everything, these last few months have been the best time of my life. Meeting you was the best thing that could ever happen to me. Thanks to you I have a new lease on life." he said. "Meeting you was the best thing that ever could have happened to me as well and I'll never forget you...."She hugged him tightly holding back her tears. Sora pressed a few buttons and a large ship soon appeared in earths orbit. Aces then saw an F.A.S star fighter land near by and Miyu hopping out of the cockpit with Toshiro waving from the passenger seat. Miyu then saw Ace staring.

"What? Did you think I walked here?" Miyu asked.

"You never let ME ride in your ship." Ace said.

"Because YOU are a whiney little prick" Miyu spat.

Ace's ears flattened as he made strangling gestures muttering curses under his breath. It wasn't long before Sakura and the others were packed and ready to leave. As ready as they would ever be. After many tearful goodbyes the sky was filled with ships leaving the planet earth Jaden, Kiyo, and Chase all had their lives changed forever by their friends and mates. They experienced love but also with that love there was pain of saying goodbye. The human waves goodbye tears flowing through their eyes as the ships soon where out of sight.

*6 years later* A reporter from a local newspaper was interviewing a 20 year old human because of his like many others had a personal relationship with an anthropomorphic being. He has bright blue eyes like the azure sky and black hair which he kept in an anime like style. He was well toned which was from his years of exercise and training in various martial arts were sitting in a house on the beach. It was around noon and they both were drinking some coffee.

"So tell me what it was like being around such powerful creatures." The reporter said.

"Actually they are just like you and me, I am proud to have met them. The furs and dragons left a huge impression on the whole world. The technology that the furs left behind has enabled us to make huge advancements in our own technology. Thanks to the furs we achieved in just 6 years what would normally have taken at least 600 years." The man said.

The reporter gave a thoughtful look.

"I see... But it really is a shame that the fur or dragons can't step foot on this planet anymore. Thanks for the interview" The reporter said as he shook the man's hand.

"Hey, it's my pleasure." The man said.

The reporter smiled then saw the gold dragon eye necklace around the man's neck.

"Forgive me But Could you tell me your name once more?" The reported asked.

"My name is Chase." the man said.

The reporter nodded and walked to his car and drove off. Chase then went back into the house and picked up a picture of Athena and him.

"Hard to believe it's been 6 years already...but I still haven't forgotten that promise I made to you." He said quietly.

Several miles away on the other side of town the reporter drove into a dark alley and turned off his car. Once he was certain no one was around he began to transform. In mere seconds the reporter turned into an 8 tailed kitsune. He had long black hair tied in a pony tail with red fur on his paws and feet, he wore a black vest with black pants and bright yellow eyes. The fox put on his wrist communicator and pressed a few buttons before speaking.

"As you suspected Shinryu...there is No way for them to set foot on this planet." He said.

Shinryu smiled showing his fangs.

"Good, our immunity to ion radiation gives us an advantage. Our spies have successfully infiltrated the fur, reptoid and human governments." Shinryu said.

"And soon we will have our revenge." the 8 tails said.

"Yes, we will make them ALL suffer." Shinryu said .
