"Simba, please respond."

There was a click, and the relieving sound of the lion cut through my headphones.He sounded likewise confused by what had happened.

"Alduin, where are you?"

I walked towards the water's edge.

"I'm on a very small island with Salbar, with naught but sea to look at. Where are you?"

"I'm with Draco and Javid, and it looks like the same has happened to us.Can you teleport?"

"Negative, Simba. Why is this?"

"The techs think that because the teleporter suddenly has to jerk to make sure the subject lands on land, it stops working while it recalibrates. It's happened before.It could take upward of an hour."

"We must have landed directly between the two islands, and so we got split."

"Who are you? You were not here long ago."

"Yes, I am an explorer from another world, and I arrived on this island. Simba, one lifeform is that of a dolphin, about two and a bit metres in length."

"Sorry to turn up like this, my name is Alduin. I'd shake hands with you, but you don't have any. What is your name?"

"My name is Cetacean, Alduin. What planet do you come from?"

"As far as some of the most distant stars. We have a special way of travelling over galaxies."

"Well, you are very welcome."Cetacean smiled." Can you swim, and live underwater?"

"Simba, I trust our air filters don't work under water."

"No, but we do have water breathing apparatus." Salbar came over to me, and crouched in the water. I spoke to Cetacean.

"No, sorry. I'm not a good swimmer, where we come from, we live on huge islands."

"Bigger than this?"

"Yes. Most of them, when you stand in the middle, you can't even see the sea."

"Massive islands?"

"Indeed."

Cetacean paused."We have nothing like that here. The island you are on is possibly the biggest we have on this...did you say planet?If it isn't the biggest, than it is one of the larger."

Simba recited this as he fed it into his data recorder.

"So do you often check the islands for life?"I asked, still aware of the weight on my chest. The dolphin laughed.

"No, I just happened to be nearby as I saw two people appear out of nowhere.Does it happen often?"

"Not usually." I conceded, smiling." We are somewhat unique. But we had intended to land somewhere else."

"Where?"

"About thirteen miles out to sea."

"I see. Can you not land on sea?"

"So how many of your kind are there?"
