Another cliche story. Seems like cliche is my friend now a days. Let me know what you think in the comments if you like or dislike. Gives me my motivation.

Gail let out a sigh as he threw another bail of hay onto the large truck. It was a very hot day and having fur really didn't help matters any. He heard a soft whine behind him as the hyena next to him fell to the ground.

"MOM!!!" Gail shouted and ran to her.

She was panting heavily, tongue hanging out of her mouth. It looked very dry as sweat was coming down her forehead heavily. A man in a pair of blue overalls and matching shirt walked over. He held a large wooden stick on his shoulder with tape where his hands could grip it and swing easily. A large straw hat was on his head and a piece of straw in his mouth, sunglasses covering his eyes as he looked down at the hyenas.

"Get your lazy hybrid asses up and finish your work."

"My mom needs some water," Gail said.

"So drink your urine. That's water isn't it?"

A growl from Gail made the man smile. He lifted Gail's chin with the stick and took off his glasses, looking him right in his golden eyes.

"You got a problem dog?"

Gail was about to answer when his mom spoke up.

"No sir, he has no problem. I'm fine now."

"No you're not fine mom. You need water and a little bit of rest from the sun."

"If you're fine, then get your asses up and finish loading the truck."

She tried to get up but fell back down as Gail caught her.

"I'm waiting," he said with menace.

"She needs water," Gail barked angrily.

The man bent down and lifted him up easily by the collar of his ragged and dirty shirt.

"You got a mouth on you dog. A mouth I'm going to shut permanently if you talk back to me again."

"Gail, please stop," his mom whined.

"I'll do her work load so she can rest."

"I don't care who does it, just get it done," the man shouted, pushing Gail backwards but he caught himself before falling. "You got just one more time to talk back to me. Next time you do, you'll be in a world of pain."

The man put his glasses back on and walked away. Gail let out a vicious snarl before his mom whined again. He knelt next to her, holding her close.

"Gail, you shouldn't get yourself in trouble."

"I don't care. I'm not going to let him force you to work in your condition."

A female cheetah came over to them and knelt besides her.

"Here you go Shelly," she said, handing her a small pouch with water.

"Laura, I can't take this. You need it more then me. What about your daughter?"

"She already had some. Come now, drink up and regain your strength."

She gave a nod before taking a sip. It may have been warm, but it did the job as she felt a little better.

"You rest mom. I'll handle the rest."

When night time hit, Gail's whole body was sore all over. Even the slightest movement made him grimace in pain. All the hybrids were huddled up inside a barn and relaxing after a very hot and tiring day. The barn itself was in bad shape as the roof leaked whenever it rained. Most of the wood was rotting away or being eaten by termites. Gail's mom was resting on a small bail of hay next to Gail.

"Thank you Gail," she said softly.

Gail looked up at her. She was once a beautiful hyena. She had brown fur with white dots along her back. But you couldn't see the real beauty of it because it was covered in dirt. Grey eyes that were once full of life, were now always sad and distant. But Gail soon figured out why. The person that bought his dad, let him die. He saved the master's son from drowning but the current took him away after he used up all his strength.

"Don't worry mom," Gail said with a smile and rubbed her leg.

He could feel the weakness in them making him fold his ears a little but giggled as she tickled them. The barn doors opened as a silver pickup truck backed in. That same man from earlier came out before opening the back revealing two large black pots.

"Dinner time hybrids."

Everybody gathered around the truck in a single line as he handed them a plate with rice, beans, and bread. Shelly walked up next and he shook his head.

"Sorry. Lazy hybrids who don't work, don't eat. Get the hell out of my face."

Gail growled viciously but a paw grabbed his short tail.

"Don't mess it up for the rest of us," a voice whispered in his ear.

It took all his will power to not slash the bastard's throat open when it was his turn. The man looked at him and smiled before handing him a plate.

"I shouldn't give you a damn thing after your back talk, but the boss wouldn't like me afterward."

Gail took the plate and gave a grunt before heading back to his mom and handed it to her as she looked at him.

"Gail you eat. It's yours."

"Mom, take it. You need to get your strength back more than me."

Her eyes filled with tears before hugging him. He put the plate down and held her close, rubbing her back softly.

"I'm sorry," she cried.

"Don't be mom. It's okay."

She calmed down after a bit and sat back with a smile.

"I'm glad I still have you Gail."

"Thanks mom," he smiled, handing her the food before taking just the bread.

He watched her eat as his mind started working. Someday, somehow, he will get them both off this stupid farm.

"But dad, I don't need a slave. I'm old enough to clean up behind me," Ryudo complained in the back seat.

"No son of mine is going to live by himself with no slave. The Peterson's don't work around the house," his father replied back.

Ryudo let out a defeated sigh and sat back in the seat. He didn't need a slave. He was twenty four years old. He could handle himself.

"Besides," his mom added. "With a slave around the house, you can study better without worrying about cleaning. You'll thank us later."

Ryudo didn't say anything as they pulled into the hybrid farm. He looked at all the hybrids working to death in the hot sun, something he found very cruel, even if it was the only way they could eat. All the hybrids watched as the car pulled up to the house and stopped, each one wondering which one of them will be bought next.

"Go take a look around son. We'll handle the paperwork," his father said as they walked into the house.

"Dummies," Ryudo said under his breath before walking into the field.

He saw all the hybrids in their dirty and ripped clothes. Their fur had cakes of dirt on them, almost making them look feral.

"This is inhumane." he thought.

He learned in school that the hybrids, a mixture between human and animals, tried fighting against the humans and lost. But Ryudo wasn't stupid. He knew the real reason why hybrids were slaves. Humans were lazy people and didn't want to clean or work around the house. Thus the reason to enslave the hybrids. They never lifted a finger against the humans but they didn't care. They wanted their way regardless. A lot of commotion broke his train of thought as he looked and saw a man raising a large stick in the air before bringing it down on the body underneath him with great force.

"I told you what would happen if you mouthed off to me again, didn't I dog?" the man yelled, driving the stick down with a sick thud against the body on the ground that yelped in pain.

The man raised the stick again to strike when his arm was caught. He looked behind to see Ryudo holding onto his arm.

"I think you've done enough," Ryudo said angrily.

"Don't tell me how to do my job boy."

"Don't hit the hybrid again."

"Or else what boy?" the man said, yanking his arm out of Ryudo's grasp. "What are you going to do about it?"

The next thing the man knew, he was face down on the ground, a knee digging into his neck while his left arm was pulled back almost to the breaking point making him yell in pain.

"You were saying?" Ryudo said, pulling back harder.

"Stop! Don't break my arm."

"Apologize to the hybrid."

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Please let go."

Ryudo got off of him as the man hastily got to his feet, looking back at Ryudo before hurrying away. All the hybrids watched as Ryudo bent down, picked up the stick and broke it over his knee before looking at the body on the ground. He walked over getting a high pitched whine in response.

"Are you okay?" Ryudo asked softly.

The hybrid opened his eyes and looked up at Ryudo. Golden eyes stared into opal eyes, neither saying a word. Ryudo never seen eyes like those before and couldn't help but stare into them before catching himself and spoke again.

"Are you okay? Anything broken?"

"No," the hyena said, still looking into Ryudo's eyes.

"Good. Can you stand?" Ryudo said standing up.

The hyena tried getting up but a sharp pain ran up its leg resulting in a high pitch whine.

"He hit my leg hard. It's pretty sore."

"Well you can relax. He won't be back here anytime soon."

"GAIL!!"

They both looked to see another hyena running over. She hugged him tightly, whining a little.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"Yeah mom, I'm fine. He helped me."

She looked at Ryudo before bowing her head, ears lowered and tail bent underneath her.

"Thank you kind sir for helping my son."

"You don't have to bow. I'm just happy to help," Ryudo said with a smile.

She hugged Gail again as Ryudo watched with a smile.

"What are you doing here kind sir?" the female asked.

Ryudo's smile faded before he let out a heavy sigh.

"My parents insist on me getting a slave."

She looked at him, before looking at her son.

"Then, would you take my son?"

Ryudo looked at her along with Gail.

"Mom, what are you saying? I don't want to leave you here by yourself."

"Gail, you'll do so much better out there then in this hell hole."

Ryudo crossed his arms before speaking.

"Is that what you truly want miss?" Ryudo asked.

Gail and his mom looked at Ryudo in shocked. No human was this kind in asking such a question. Usually they just took what they wanted and left without a care.

"Yes. Please, take my son away from here."

"But what about-"

"That's the one!"

They turned to see that same man, but he brought along two more. One of them had the same outfit as him but the one standing in the middle had on a nice pair of dress pants and shirt as he spoke up.

"Did you stop him from disciplining a hybrid boy?"

"Yes I did. And that wasn't discipline, it was just being a bully."

"We need to keep these hybrids in check so they won't riot. By you doing this, causes trouble for us."

Ryudo let out a humph at that.

"Well maybe if you treated them like living creatures, things would be different."

"What are you, a hybrid lover or something?"

Ryudo looked at the man he subdued as he walked forward.

"No. I just don't like seeing people being beat on, regardless of what they are."

The man let out a laugh before jabbing a finger in Ryudo's chest, making a point to dig into his skin.

"We do what we damn well please on this farm boy. And don't you forget it."

Ryudo grabbed his hand and with quickness and skill, broke it before flipping him onto his back and putting his foot on his throat.

"Touch me again, and you'll lose more than your hand. Got it?"

The man gagged before nodding his head, his air escaping him fast.

"You deserved that Bruce. And as for you boy, a little word of advice: don't do things like this in public. I know that your parents are rich and well respected. But doing stuff like this will tarnish their reputation. Johnny, help Bruce up so we can get his dumb ass to a hospital."

With that said, they walked away. Ryudo balled his fist at his words.

"Who cares about my parents reputation. I'm my own person."

"Thank you for sticking up for us," Gail said.

"Somebody has to," Ryudo replied, looking back at him with a smile.

"There you are. Have you made your decision son?" his father said, walking up to him.

Ryudo looked at the female again as she nodded her head.

"Yeah dad. I want him."

"Here, put this around his neck then."

His father handed him a collar. It was black with a gold tag hanging from it. Reading the tag, it read: Property of Ryudo Peterson. Ryudo frowned and looked at Gail. Gail folded his ears and presented his neck. With a sigh, he attached the collar, making sure it wasn't too tight.

"Alright, let's get back to the car where your mother is waiting. I have a meeting to get to."

Ryudo watched him leave before looking at the two hyenas.

"Shall we go?" Ryudo said softly.

Gail nodded before hugging his mom tight.

"I'll come back for you mom. I promise."

"I know you will. Please take care of my son sir."

"You have my word."

With a final lick to the cheek, Gail broke away and walked alongside his new master. He looked back at his mom who gave him a wave and a smile. They got to the car where his parents were waiting for him.

"Not a bad pick hun," his mom said looking Gail over. "He could use a bath though."

"Can we go please?" Ryudo said. "I've seen enough torture for today."

"It's not torture son. It's discipline," his father said as they got into the car.

They had to cover the seat with some paper to keep the dirt from going onto the leather interior and opened the windows as Gail's odor was a little ripe. Gail watched with sad eyes as the farm left his vision along with his mother. With a small whine, he sat back in the seat, heading to his new life as a slave.

"Make sure you show him the ropes Ryudo," his father said out the window.

"I know dad."

"Don't forget to keep up on your studies also. I don't want you falling behind now that you have a slave," his mom added.

"Yes mom, I know."

"Alright. We'll come by sometime to see how things are doing."

Both Ryudo and Gail watched them leave before looking at each other.

"Well, this is where you'll be staying. Come on, let's get you cleaned up."

They walked up the small cobblestone path leading to a two story brick house. Unlocking the front door, Ryudo let out a sigh and walked in.

"Um, sir?"

Ryudo looked back to see Gail standing at the doorway.

"What's wrong?"

"Well, I don't want to get the rug dirty."

"Who cares. Get in here and close the door," Ryudo said, climbing the carpeted stairs.

Gail let out a soft whine and stepped inside onto the soft, plush rug. His paws felt relief as he walked into the house and closed the door behind him, feeling the cool breeze from the AC. Looking down, he saw the dirty footprints he left in the white rug as he whined.

"Come on upstairs," Ryudo called.

Gail walked up the stairs to see Ryudo in the bathroom, the door opened and water running.

"Take off those rags. You won't be needing them anymore. Oh yeah, get rid of the collar also."

"But, won't I get in trouble sir?"

Ryudo looked at him. Letting out a sigh, he got up and turned off the water after filling the tub.

"Let's get one thing straight," Ryudo said walking up and looking him in those golden eyes. "In this house, there are no slaves. It's just you and me, got it?"

"Yes sir," Gail said, ear folded.

"And stop with the sir. My name is Ryudo. Only call me sir outside or when people are over, okay?" Ryudo said with a soft smile.

Gail looked at him and couldn't help but smile back. The kindness he was showing was making him feel at ease.

"Why are you still in those rags? Get rid of them."

Gail blushed a little before taking off his ripped shirt and shorts, discarding them onto the floor. Ryudo looked at him, seeing the dirt build up on almost every part of his body before nodding his head towards the tub. Gail walked past him and stepped into the water. He couldn't help but murr as the warm water eased his muscles a little.

"Let's get you cleaned up and looking better," Ryudo said.

He reached under the sink and brought out a large brush and a bottle of body wash. Getting to his knees, he opened the body wash bottle and applied some to the brush before dipping it into the water and scrubbing his back. The water started to turn brown almost instantly as dirt just fell into the water.

"When was the last time they let you wash off?" Ryudo asked softly.

"About a month ago."

"The bastards. This is no way to treat people."

Gail turned his head, watching Ryudo wash him down. Looking down, he saw the dirt in the water before folding his ears, ashamed that he was this dirty.

"So, what's your name?"

"Gail."

"Cool name. Was that your mom back there on the farm?"

"Yeah. She's the only family I have left."

"What happened to your dad?" Ryudo asked, turning the water on again as he grabbed the handle of the shower head which detached and wash the soap off his back.

"He died saving his master's son from drowning," Gail said softly.

"I'm sorry to hear that. Lift your arm up a little."

Gail lifted his arm as Ryudo started washing it, giving a small giggle when he tickled his armpit. Ryudo smiled at his reaction as he washed him down. He could feel the muscles tense before relaxing in his grasp. He was pretty well built. Guess all the work he did on that farm made him strong both physically and mentally, having to deal with assholes like that one man.

"How old are you Gail?"

"I'm nineteen. How about you?"

"Twenty four. Here, you handle the front while I'll get some clothes for you to wear."

Gail watched him get up and leave before taking the brush and scrubbing his body down. He actually felt welcomed in his master's new house instead of a slave. A small smile appeared on his muzzle as he washed himself down. He got out of the tub, his fur dripping wet and stepped on the towel.

"Um, sir, I mean Ryudo? Is there a towel for me to dry off with?"

"Yeah, check the linen closet behind the door."

Gail opened the door and saw an assortment of towels and grabbed one, beginning to dry himself off. He felt ten times better now that he didn't have so much dirt and other stuff on him. Feeling somewhat dry, he wrapped the towel around his waist before heading out the bathroom and to where he heard Ryudo's voice. Walking to the front of the door, he saw Ryudo digging into a large closet and taking out various pants and shirts and tossing them on the bed. He looked at the door and saw Gail standing there. He looked actually refreshed and smelt a lot better.

"Well, you look a lot better. How do you feel?"

"A lot lighter now that I don't have all that dirt on me."

Ryudo chuckled at that before motioning him inside. Gail walked in and looked around. His room was pretty well equipped. A large bed was in the corner by the wall that looked extremely soft. A single window with the blind down was to the right of it. Underneath it was an end table with an alarm clock and various other nick knacks that he didn't know along with a small lamp. On the other side of the room was a large entertainment center with all the fixings, DVD player, video game system, and an assortment of movies and games.

"See if any of these fit you," Ryudo said, pointing to the clothes he had laid on the bed.

Gail dropped the towel onto the rug and proceeded to try on the clothes. Ryudo watched out the corner of his eye, taking in Gail's body. His grey fur looked soft now that it was clean. Black stripes ran down his back on each side, like lightning bolts down to his legs. His black tipped tail was wagging happily as he tried on the spare clothes. A black shirt covered his creamy white chest fur as he directed his eyes forward again.

"Do they fit you?" Ryudo asked, still looking into the large closet.

"They are a bit tight, and I have no hole for my tail," Gail said with a whine, feeling his tail being crushed.

"But they do fit?"

"Yes."

"Good. Take them off and try the rest. There's a pair of scissors on the end table which you can use to cut a hole for your tail on any pair of pants that fit you. You'll be wearing those around the house. We'll head out tomorrow after I come home from school and get you better clothes to walk around town with. I'll head down and make us some dinner."

With that said, Ryudo left Gail alone in the room and walked downstairs. His still couldn't get the image of Gail out of his head. His body was perfect in almost every way. He even managed to get a glimpse of his grey sheath before it got covered by his pants. Shaking his head, he walked into the kitchen to prepare some dinner for them both.

"I guess I do have a problem," Ryudo said out loud.

He started to think back during his high school years while staying with parents. They had a coyote slave at the time and Ryudo loved having him around. He helped him out with everything he could ask for. There were nights Ryudo was up studying hard and Justin would bring him up some hot tea to relax his mind. They started becoming close during his summer vacation, always being seen together no matter where they went. His friends started to get curious as to why he would hang around a stupid hybrid but he ignored them.

One summer night, while his parents were out of town, they became more than friends. It started with a night time movie, he couldn't remember which one. They both were sitting on the couch next to each other, munching on popcorn in a bowl. They both reached in at the same time, hand touching fur as their eyes met. It was something he couldn't explain when their lips met. Sure it was weird kissing somebody with a muzzle, but that didn't matter to either of them at the moment.

Soon, they were both naked on his bed, taking their time and enjoying the new sensations each one brought the other. Ryudo was in heaven as he and Justin made love that night, both of them hitting their peaks at the exact same time making it even more special. But their happiness didn't last long. Rumors started to spread around the town making his parents uneasy. They didn't want their image destroyed, so they sent Justin away to Ryudo's grandparents and was forbidden to see him again.

"God damn them," Ryudo said angrily. "Only worried about their stupid image. What about my happiness?"

"Is there something wrong Ryudo?"

Ryudo let out a gasp and turned around to see Gail standing there in a simple pair of white jogging pants and shirt. He cleared his mind instantly and smiled.

"Nothing's wrong. Have a seat and I'll whip us up some soup."

Gail smiled and took a seat at the table, watching Ryudo open up some cans of soup into a pot before turning on the stove. After about ten minutes, the soup was ready as he fixed them both a bowl. Gail let out a murr, feeling the hot liquid run down his throat. Ryudo watched with a smile seeing the happy smile Gail had the entire time. Once finished, Ryudo lead him back upstairs to an empty room and turned the light on.

"This is where you'll be staying from now on."

It was a simple room consisting of a made up bed alongside a dresser with a mirror over it. A window stood in the corner which looked out onto the backyard. Gail walked in and sat down on the bed. The softness took him by surprise as he sunk into it.

"Do you like it?" Ryudo asked.

"It's more than I'm worth. I'll try to live up to your expectations."

Ryudo frowned at that before walking up to him.

"What did I tell you before? There are no slave in this house, understand?" he said with a little anger.

Gail let out a whine, ears folded and nodded. Ryudo let out a sigh before turning around.

"I'm sorry about that. Just try to be yourself around me okay?"

"Yes Ryudo," Gail said softly.

"And stop being formal. Just Ryudo."

Gail smiled at that and nodded.

"Okay Ryudo."

"That's better," Ryudo said, looking back with a smile. "My room is right next door. If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to knock and walk in. I don't care how trivial it is. Also, if you get hungry, go down to the kitchen and help yourself to whatever you want in the fridge. My house is yours now."

"Thank you Ryudo."

Ryudo smiled before leaving the room and walking into his. He yawned and rubbed his eyes before starting to undress, getting into his night clothes and crawled into bed. He had a long day but remembered that he had a test coming up. So he went to his backpack by the entertainment stand and pulled out his text book and started to read. Gail was laying down under the covers, light off as the window was cracked a little, letting in a cool breeze as the crickets chirped down below.

"I hope my mom is okay," he said softly.

He already missed her warmth as she hugged him from behind every night when they slept. Her scent still lingered in his nose making him whine a little.

"Why can't all humans be like Ryudo? He's so kind and thoughtful."

Time passed as Gail tossed and turned in the bed. He couldn't get comfortable enough. All he thought about was the warmth of his mom holding him close and stroking his head softly, lulling him into a deep, blissful sleep. With a soft whine, he got up and walked out his room. All the lights were off as his eyes adjusted quickly, seeing Ryudo's door closed.

"I really hope I'm not pushing my boundaries here." Gail thought as he knocked on the door.

"Come on in Gail," Ryudo's voice said.

Gail opened the door to see Ryudo closing a book and placing it on the end table.

"Something wrong Gail?" Ryudo asked, looking into Gail's golden eyes.

"I can't sleep."

"I don't blame you. It's probably hard on you cause you're use to having your mom and all the other hybrids around you, making you feel safe and comfortable."

Gail looked at him in shock.

"How did you know?"

"Call it a wild guess. Plus, I can see it in your eyes. You can sleep with me until you feel comfortable enough to sleep on your own."

"Are you sure?" Gail asked.

"Get over here stripy," Ryudo chuckled, making room for him.

Gail blushed at the nickname and walked over. He got into the empty space as Ryudo pulled the covers over them both.

"Turn off the light for me."

"Okay," Gail said, reaching over and clicking the light off as darkness took center stage.

Silence was golden for a few minutes until Gail whined.

"Are you okay?" Ryudo asked.

"I'm sorry for that," Gail said. "It's just I miss my mom. She use to always hold me close. It put me to sleep quickly."

Ryudo smiled in the dark before bringing his arm around Gail's chest making him bark in surprise at the contact. He felt his body being pulled close to Ryudo's as his warmth took over making him murr softly.

"That better?" Ryudo asked.

There was no answer as Gail was asleep. Ryudo heard his relaxed breathing and smiled. Letting out a yawn himself, he rested his head on the pillow and was asleep himself.

The smell of cooked meat awoke Gail as his nose inhaled the scent. His eyes opened slowly, the sunlight coming in from the window heating the room up with its warmth. With a yawn, he stretched and got out of the bed, his stomach growling as the scent got stronger. Heading downstairs, he saw Ryudo sitting at the table reading a book. A plate of bacon, eggs, and toast was sitting at the empty seat. Ryudo looked up from his book and smiled when he saw Gail.

"Did you sleep well?"

"Very well. Thank you again."

"No problem at all. Have a seat and eat some breakfast."

Gail took a seat and started to dig in, a happy wag to his tail. Ryudo watched before taking a sip of his tea and checking his watch.

"I'm going to need to head to school shortly. So before I go, do you think you can handle yourself?"

"I should be able to."

"You can have a look around the backyard, but if you do, make sure you have your collar on. That way people won't harass you or ask questions. Can you cook?"

Gail folded his ears and shook his head.

"I....can't even read."

Ryudo frowned but smiled.

"No problem. I'll show you how to make something simple. And if you want, I can teach you how to read, write, and other things?"

Gail looked at him, a surprised expression on his muzzle.

"You.....would teach me all that?"

"Why not? Everybody deserves the right to read. It's pretty fun."

Gail gave a soft sniff, trying to hide his tears.

"Thank you for being so kind to me."

"Don't cry. You lose your good looks when you cry."

Gail cheeks went red at that before smiling.

"Here, let me show you how to make something simple and easy."

Ryudo showed him how to make some soup along with sandwiches. Once he knew that Gail understood it, he grabbed his backpack and headed to the door.

"I should be back around two. Feel free to look around the house and get to know where everything is."

"Okay."

"If you get bored, you can watch the TV in the front. The only thing I ask, is that you clean up after yourself when you make a mess."

Opening the door, he looked back and gave Gail a smile before leaving, making sure to lock the door. Gail watched him get into his car from the window, pull out of the driveway and down the street, leaving him alone in his new home. With a little smile, he started to explore his surroundings.

"So, I heard you got yourself a slave now?"

Ryudo turned to the voice and saw his classmate, Joseph standing there.

"You're finally living up to your family's name."

"Shut up Joesph. It wasn't my decision to get a slave."

"But you need one man. You're rich."

"What's that got to do with it?"

"Rich people don't clean their own house."

Ryudo looked at him evilly before walking by him to his next class.

"Hey man, wait up. What did I say?"

Ryudo walked into the class where all the students were chatting and laughing at jokes. He took his seat in the back row, placing his backpack under the chair. A cute girl walked over to him and sat besides him. She pushed her black hair from in front of her eyes and smiled at him.

"Hey there Ryudo."

"Hey Jessica," Ryudo said, not even looking at her.

"You coming to my birthday party this weekend?"

"No can do. I have to help Gail."

"Who's Gail?"

"The hybrid my dad forced me to get."

"Ohh, you got a slave? It's about time you started acting your status."

"Whatever," Ryudo shrugged.

Jessica smiled before taking out her books as the teacher walked into the classroom. He greeted the class before rambling on about something Ryudo lost interest in. Once the bell rang, he headed out to his next class. Lunch time couldn't come quick enough as he headed towards the campus lunch room. Normally he would go out to eat but he didn't feel like wasting the gas to get a cheap burger when he could eat at the campus for free. Grabbing the lunch tray, he found his good friends sitting by the large tree outside.

"Hey fellas!" he said happily, taking a seat next to them.

"Hey Ryudo!" they all said back.

These were his real friends: Blake, Connors, Stephen, and Simon. They weren't rich like him, but they all had one thing in common, they secretly were in love with their slaves. Normally, the law stated that if you were caught in fornication with a hybrid, the hybrid was killed and the person in question would either to jail, or disappear. There were cases like that Ryudo read in the paper and hated that it came to that conclusion.

"So Ryudo, how goes everything?" Blake said, munching on an apple.

Blake was his childhood friend and probably the closest thing to a brother he could ask for. They did everything together, even taking up the same hobbies and studying to be doctors so they could help the sick and ill hybrids. Nobody wanted to help the hybrids, but the government came down on people. If you owned a slave, you had to take care of it. Meaning it had to pass the state inspection. If the hybrid was in bad shape, the owner was fined and sent to jail while the hybrid was sent back to the farm it was bought. Hybrid doctors were few because nobody really wanted to help them.

"Pretty bleak man. My parents insisted on me getting a hybrid."

"You got another hybrid?" Simon said, pushing the glasses up the bridge of his nose.

"It wasn't my choice really."

"Do you ever hear from Justin?" Connors asked.

"Not a word. Even though I taught him how to write, I told him not to get in trouble for my sake."

"That sucks man. You two looked really cute together," Stephen chuckled.

"I miss him so much. Dare I say I fell in love with Justin."

Everybody chuckled as Ryudo blushed before digging into his lunch.

"How's Caroline, Blake? Are you treating her good?" Ryudo asked.

"I spoil her and see spoils me. I don't think I could live without her in my life. She means everything to me," Blake said.

"I know what you mean. Hosea's been almost like a brother to me. My parents wanted to get rid of him but I told them if they get rid of him, I'm going with him," Connors said.

"So what's your hybrid's name?" Stephen asked.

"His name is Gail and he's a hyena."

"Cool name. Anything interesting about him?" Blake asked.

"Yeah. He's got the most amazing eyes. Almost like looking at two pieces of gold."

"Sweet. When can I come over and see him?"

Ryudo looked at him before rubbing his chin.

"I don't know. I want to give him time to settle in. I'll give you a call when I think he's ready."

"Sounds like a plan," Blake said when the bell chimed in the air. "We better get to class and finish the day."

Grabbing his tray, Ryudo finished what was left before hurrying to his next class.

Gail opened another door to find a bunch of coats and a shoe rack.

"He has a ton of shoes. Wonder if he ever wears any of them?"

Closing the door, he went to another one and opened it. It had stairs leading down and a light switch on the wall. Clicking on the light, he headed down. Downstairs looked like another bedroom. It had a large bed on the left side with an entertainment stand on the right side. A couch was stationed in front of the stand as everything was on top of a simple red rug.

"Wow," Gail said walking on the rug. "Somebody could live down here."

Heading back upstairs, he turned off the light and closed the door. Walking into the living room, he sat down on the soft couch and sighed. He explored the whole house from top to bottom, finding it very exciting. So many things he never saw before and couldn't wait to get it explained to him.

"Wonder how the outside looks?"

He walked back up to his room, making sure to grab his collar and attached it to his neck. When it was on, he walked back down and out the front door. The sun was high in the sky as a few slim clouds painted the otherwise clear blue background. He took a big breath, smelling the various scents in the air and getting familiar with them.

"So, you're the new hybrid huh?"

His ears perked up and turned to the left to see a horse leaning on the wooden fence.

"Yes. I arrived here last night."

"Well, you got lucky in getting to be Ryudo's slave. He's a real nice person."

"Yes, I can tell."

"So, does he have you doing any chores yet?"

Gail shook his head no.

"No, not yet."

"I'm not surprised. He would rather do everything himself. He even helped me clean up around the yard when he's not in school. He helped almost all the hybrids around the neighborhood."

Gail smiled, proud to be Ryudo's hybrid.

"What's your name? Mine is Kurt."

"Gail," he said, walking over and shaking Kurt's hand.

"Welcome to the neighborhood. Most of the humans here are pretty kind and don't mind us hybrids talking to one another. Just don't let them see you without your collar on. They will report you and you'll be taken back to the farm you were bought faster than lighting."

Gail swallowed and folded his ears a little.

"I'll make a note of that."

"Hey Kurt, are you going to finish cutting the grass?" a lady said from the door.

"Yes mistress. Just saying hi to the new hybrid."

"You'll have time for that later. We have guests coming over tomorrow and I need this place in top shape."

"I understand mistress. I'll get right on it."

"Good. I'm going to finish cleaning up in here."

"Well Gail, I hope you have a happy stay here. Make sure you follow the rules and everything will be just fine," Kurt said, starting up the lawnmower.

Gail gave a smile before walking around the house to the backyard. It was very spacious with an oak tree occupying a large space. A simple swing was attached to one of the large tree branches as Gail took a seat on it.

"Boy, mom would love this."

A cool breeze rustled his fur as he closed his eyes and let out a soft murr. He got lost in the warm rays of the sun as he swung slowly back and forth. His ears picked up the sound of a car pulling up. He quickly got off the swing and rushed to the front. He couldn't help but wag his tail as Ryudo got out and closed the door.

"Welcome back Ryudo," Gail said with a smile.

"Hey Gail. You enjoying yourself out here?"

"Very much so. This is a beautiful place. I can't thank you enough for this opportunity."

"No thanks needed. Did you get something to eat?"

"Yeah. I managed to make some of that soup you made yesterday."

"See. Simple wasn't it?"

"Very."

"Good. Let me change clothes and we'll head into town to get you some clothes and personal hygiene stuff. Wait here for a second."

Gail nodded his head and watched Ryudo disappear into the house, coming out five minutes later wearing a pair of shorts and jersey. Getting to the driver side, he looked at Gail and nodded to the other side.

"You coming or what stripy?"

Gail giggled before walking to the passenger side and getting in.

"Buckle up and we'll head off."

Buckling up, they headed into town, radio playing an upbeat song as Gail's tail twitched along with the beat. Rolling down the window, he stuck his head out, tongue hanging out as Ryudo laughed.

"You're just like a big dog, you know that?"

"I am part canine you know?" Gail grinned back.

They arrived into the shopping district as Ryudo pulled into a parking spot. They both got out as Gail's ears were moving rapidly at all the different sounds.

"This place is used mostly for hybrid shopping. Stores have everything they need from clothing to other stuff that keep them in good condition. Most people don't like selling things to help hybrids, but the government insisted."

Ryudo looked at Gail as his tail was twitching back and forth, eyes going this way and that.

"This place is loud," Gail whined a little.

"You'll get used to it. Come on, the store we want is a couple blocks away."

Gail made sure to stay close to Ryudo as people gave him evil stares making his ears fold back. He saw other hybrids being dragged along by rope or forced to walk on all fours on the hard cement.

"Don't worry Gail. I will never do those things to you," Ryudo said looking back at Gail with a smile.

Gail gave a smile and a small wag of his tail before they reached the store.

"Well this is it. The 'Lost and Found'. I don't know why they named the store this, but it has everything a hybrid needs," Ryudo said opening the door.

The door let out a chime as they walked into the air condition store. A man looked up from his paper and smiled.

"Well well, look who it is. I haven't seen you since-"

"Don't say it," Ryudo said with a hint of anger.

"My apologizes. I see you have another hybrid with you. Is this your own or your parents?"

"He belongs to me and I need to get him some clothes."

"As you wish. Heather, get out here."

A fox hybrid came out from behind a curtain and looked at the man.

"You called master?"

"Yeah. Ryudo's hybrid needs the usual."

"As you wish master. Come this way if you please."

Gail looked at Ryudo who nodded his head. Ears folded, he followed the vixen into the back room where she took out a measuring tape.

"Please hold your arms out so I can measure you."

Gail nodded and put his arms out as she measure him from head to toe. Getting his measurements, she went to racks that were filled with various clothes and started to pick out random stuff.

"You are lucky. Your size is pretty hard to find."

After grabbing a handful of clothes, she handed them to Gail.

"The dressing room is right over there. Please try them on so I can see if I need to mend them in any way."

Gail nodded and took the clothes into the small room and proceeded to try them on. Ryudo waited with the man who was chuckling.

"You know, this brings back memories."

"I'd rather not talk about it George."

"But you guys were the talk of the town. Everybody saw how close you were to-"

"George, shut the hell up. I mean it."

"Oh, touchy touchy."

Silence dominated the store until George spoke up.

"Have you spoken to him at all?"

"No, I haven't."

"A shame. I really liked him too. He was a fun hybrid to be around."

Ryudo let out a grunt before closing his eyes. He tried not to think about it, but Justin's face appeared when he first brought him into this store. Justin was nervous and scared but Ryudo kept him calm with a smile and a friendly pat on the back.

"Do you think about him?"

"That's a stupid question to ask George."

George let out a chuckle as Heather and Gail came back out from the back room. Gail had a big bag of stuff and a blush on his face.

"It looks like your boy has everything he needs. Shall I charge it to your parents account?"

"Yeah. Let's go Gail."

"Yes sir," Gail said walking behind him.

"Don't make the same mistake with this one Ryudo."

Ryudo slammed the store door hard and let out a growl which shocked Gail making him jump a little.

"Is there something wrong sir?"

"It's nothing. Come on, let's head back," Ryudo said, trying to keep his anger in check.

Once they reached the car, they got in as Ryudo sat there, hands clenching the steer wheel hard making his knuckles turn white.

"Did I do something wrong sir?" Gail said with a whine.

"It's not you Gail. It's just something he brought up that happened a long time ago that he shouldn't have. Don't worry about it."

Starting up the car, they headed back home in silence. Gail wanted to say something, but didn't want to get Ryudo any madder than he already was. They reached the driveway as he pulled into it and stopped. They both got out and into the house as Ryudo slammed the front door before walking into the living room and sitting down on the couch.

"Go put your stuff in your room. Don't forget to take your collar off."

Gail nodded his head and went upstairs to his room. Heading inside, he emptied the bag on the bed before folding and putting them into the dresser. He also got a large brush to keep his fur from getting tangled and an extra bath brush. Putting everything away, he went back downstairs to see Ryudo with a glass of alcohol in his hand. Cautiously, he sat down on the couch with Ryudo and folded his paws across his lap. They both sat there in silence, neither saying a word as all they heard was each other breathing.

"Did you explore the house?" Ryudo asked.

"Yeah I did. It's very impressive."

"Good," Ryudo said, taking the rest of the alcohol to his head before placing the glass down. "Since I don't have school tomorrow, what do you want to do?"

Gail twitched his tail, his mind trying to find something to do.

"Well, could we possibly visit my mom? I want to tell her how I'm doing so far."

Ryudo thought about it before smiling.

"Sure why not. I don't think those assholes will be too happy seeing you again but I'll make sure they won't touch you."

Gail gave a smile before reaching over and hugging Ryudo, making him jump in surprise.

"Thank you so much Ryudo."

Ryudo blushed before running his hand over Gail's neck, feeling the soft fur run through his fingers as Gail murred to the treatment. Flashbacks of Justin ran through his head as he sighed and lifted Gail off of him.

"Umm..... how about I make us something to eat?"

"Sounds great," Gail replied, tail wagging happily.

Ryudo smiled before getting up and heading into the kitchen. That pain in his heart he was trying to forget started again as he leaned on the counter, trying to control himself but that single tear ran down his cheek. God he missed Justin so bad. All he wanted was just to see that fuzzy muzzle one more time and know that he was okay. Composing himself, he set about making dinner which consisted of mac and cheese, peas, and corn. After they finished dinner, they sat in the living room, TV playing a movie.

"This was Justin's favorite movie," Ryudo thought to himself.

He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't notice Gail laying down on his lap, eyes closed as he fell asleep. Trying to get up, he felt the weight and looked down to see Gail passed out, a smile on his muzzle. He smiled and caressed his cheek getting a sigh in return.

"Just like Justin."

Grabbing the remote, he turned off the TV leaving the room in darkness. Carefully, he lifted Gail in his arms, surprised at how light he was. Getting to his room, he laid Gail down, climbing behind him and throwing the covers over both of them. Gail let out a sigh before turning around and hugging Ryudo lightly, his muzzle buried into his chest. Ryudo let out a sigh before reaching over and turning off the light. With a shaky arm, he held Gail close, a single tear in his eye as he thought of Justin again before going to sleep.

"I'm going to be honest here Gail. Nobody's ever done this before and I don't think it will go over well."

"I understand. But I really want to see my mother," Gail said, looking out the window.

"And see her you shall."

They pulled into the hybrid farm and drove up the dirt road. Instead of heading to the house, they headed towards the barn as all the hybrids looked on. Gail hurried out the car when it stopped, looking around for his mom. He spotted her sitting down next to a wolf and rushed over.

"MOM!!"

Shelly's ear perked up and her eyes went wide to see Gail running over. She got up and hurried over as they met half way in a tight hug.

"Gail!? What are you doing here?"

Gail didn't answer as he buried his nose into her neck, taking her scent with a happy murr. Ryudo walked over with a smile seeing the happy family together. Gail finally let his mom go as they sat down on the ground. Shelly looked him over with a smile, wiping a tear from her eye.

"You look good son. Almost like your father when he was young."

"I owe it all to Ryudo. He's been really kind to me."

Shelly's grey eyes looked at Ryudo as she bowed her head.

"Thank you for thanking care of my son."

"It was no problem maam."

"Please, call me Shelly."

Gail laid his head down on Shelly's lap as she ran her paw through his fur making him murr happily. Ryudo watched with a smile before something caught his attention. He noticed that Shelly was breathing irregular and rubbing her chest every now and then. He frowned which she noticed and tilted her head.

"Is there something wrong?"

"It's nothing. Tell me something Shelly, how long have you been rubbing your chest like that?"

"A few days now. I think it's just an itch I can't get rid of. But there are some days I have a little trouble breathing."

"I see," Ryudo said.

He knew what the problem was and started to get up. Gail opened his eyes to see Ryudo walking away.

"Where are you going Ryudo?"

"I'm going for check on something. You stay here and spend some time with you mom. If something happens, just yell."

They watched him leave before Gail looked up at his mom.

"So Gail, what is his house like?"

"It's big mom. It even has a large tree with a swing on the branch which would be great for you."

"I bet it would," she chuckled softly before it turned into a coughing fit.

"Are you okay mom?" Gail asked worried.

She managed to stop coughing and catch her breath before smiling.

"Just catching a little cold that's all dear."

Ryudo walked up to the house and knocked, hearing an enter from inside. Walking inside, the owner greeted him from behind a desk.

"Welcome young man. What can I do for you? Are you interested in getting a hybrid?"

"One of your hybrids is sick and needs medical attention."

The man laughed before lifting his feet up on the desk.

"Who cares is one of them is sick. I'll just replace it."

"This is somebody's mother we're talking about," Ryudo said angrily.

"Look here boy," the owner said getting up. "I don't care about about some stupid, mangy hybrid getting sick and dying. If you know what's good for you, you'll turn around and walk your hybrid loving ass out of my home before you limp out."

Ryudo looked to his left to see two men come into the room and stand behind the man.

"I know who you are and about what you did Ryudo Peterson. I have high respect for your parents because they helped mine out of a tight pinch. I won't tell them about this incident so not to cause them grief. If you know what's good for you Ryudo-"

"Shut up!" Ryudo said angrily, startling the man. "I don't give a damn about my parents reputation. I'm my own man. So if you want to tell them about this, go right the fuck ahead."

With that said, he left the way he came, making sure to slam the door hard cause the windows to vibrate. He closed his eyes, trying to calm himself with deep breaths. Composing himself to some degree, he headed back to where Gail and Shelly was. He saw them in the distant laughing and enjoying each other's company. He wouldn't let Gail's mom die because of neglect. Turning around, he headed to his car and checked the glove department. Inside, he found a small bracelet that his parents gave him incase his car broke down. All he had to do was push the button on it and his parents would know something was wrong.

"Lucky I took the other bracelet from them," Ryudo said with a smile.

Closing the car door, he headed back to where Gail was when he saw Bruce standing over him.

"You back here again dog?"

"I'm here to see my mother. So leave."

Bruce let out an angry grunt before reaching down and grabbing Gail by his shirt collar and pulling him up so he was face to muzzle.

"I didn't hear you quite clearly dog. Care to repeat that?"

"He said to leave," Ryudo said from behind him.

Bruce froze when he heard that voice and turned around to see Ryudo standing behind him. With a swallow, he let Gail go before slinking away, whispering under his breath.

"Come on Gail. We've over stayed our visit here."

"Okay Ryudo. I'll come back and see you again mom whenever we get the chance."

"I'll be waiting for you," Shelly said with a smile before kissing his forehead.

Gail headed back to the car as Ryudo looked at Shelly. Kneeling down, he grabbed her wrist and attached the bracelet. She looked at him in confusion.

"If at any time you feel sick to the point you can't move or eat, push the button and I'll come back here as fast as I can and pick you up."

She gave him a smile before nodding.

"Make sure that dimwit doesn't see it either. Try not to over work yourself in your condition."

"Okay Ryudo. Thank you again for taking care of Gail."

Ryudo smiled before going back to the car and heading home.

Gail was nervous. Ryudo's parents were coming by and it didn't seem like Ryudo was happy about it.

"Gail, do you remember everything I taught you?" Ryudo asked.

"Yes."

"Good. Don't be nervous and stay calm. Remember to address them as sir and misses."

Gail nodded, adjusting his shirt again for the tenth time when a car pulled into the driveway. His heart was beating so fast that he could've sworn Ryudo would hear it. The doorbell rang making Gail jump a little. He looked at Ryudo who gave him a soft smile before nodding. That smile seemed to ease him a little as he walked towards the door and opened it.

"Good afternoon Mr and Mrs Peterson," Gail said with a bow.

They walked past him without acknowledging as Gail folded his ears and closed the door.

"May I take your coat sir?"

"No you may not," his dad said.

"As you wish sir."

Ryudo hated seeing this, even when he was with Justin. His parents took a seat on the couch as Ryudo sat in the recliner.

"Why are you here?" Ryudo said with no emotion.

"We came to check on you Ryudo. We have all right to," his father responded.

"Don't mind him dear. We just wanted to see how things are going. It seems you taught the hybrid well. I'm proud of you."

"His name is Gail," Ryudo said.

"Gail huh?" his mother said looking at the hyena who stood in the doorway. "That's an.....interesting name. At least he's well behaved."

"I'll say it again, what are you doing here?"

"I got a call from the farm saying you were causing trouble," his father spoke up.

"One of their hybrids was sick and I was trying to get it some medical attention."

"So what if a hybrid dies? They are only made to serve us, nothing more."

Gail's ears folded as Ryudo gripped the arm rests hard.

"They are living creatures and don't deserve to be treated like that."

"Are you spouting that bull shit again? I thought we went over this when we sent Justin away."

That name just made his anger rise even more.

"If it wasn't for your stupid love of these animals......"

"Dear, that's enough. We didn't come here to argue remember."

"Slave, get me some water," his dad barked at Gail making him jump.

"At once sir," Gail said, hurrying to the kitchen.

"Anyway dear, we came here to tell you that Jessica is having her twenty third and invited all of us to come."

"I'm not going," Ryudo said flatly.

"Oh yes you are," his father spoke up. ""Cause she is going to be your future wife."

This caught Ryudo by surprise as he just stared at his father dumbfounded. Gail came back with a tall glass of water with ice in it on a platter, bowing his head as his father grabbed it and took a drink.

"And why am I going to be married to that bitch?"

"Because I want her father's company to merge with mine. And the only way he would agree to it, is to have his daughter married to you."

Boy, to say Ryudo was pissed was an understatement. If looks could kill, his father would've died all long time ago.

"So I'm nothing but a pawn to you?"

"Don't say that dear," his mom spoke up. "Look at it this way, you'll be getting a great wife. I've known her for a while now and she really likes you."

"Well I don't like her. She's too full of herself."

"You'll warm up to her once you get to know her at the party."

"I'm not going."

His father got up and walked over to Ryudo, grabbing his shirt and pulling him up so they were face to face.

"I am still your father and you will obey me."

"Dear, you don't need to...."

"I'm....not....going..." Ryudo said slowly in his father's face.

Gail let out a soft whine when flesh met flesh. Ryudo was sent tumbling over the recliner as his mother let out a gasp.

"Peter, that was not called for!"

"Your ass is going to that party, or so help my god I'll......."

"Peter, that's enough!" his mom shouted.

Ryudo watched his father open the door and storm out the house. His mother hurried and knelt down beside him. She was going to wipe the bit of blood that came from the cut on his lip but he turned his head.

"Get out mom."

"I'm sorry Ryudo. But you have to understand..."

"I said to get out."

His mother wiped a tear from her eye when a car horn honked rapidly. Without another word, she got up and walked out, closing the door softly behind her. When Gail heard the tires screech out the driveway and down the street, he hurried over to Ryudo, a small whimper escaping him.

"Are you okay Ryudo?" he asked softly.

"I'm fine," Ryudo said.

Without thinking, Gail stuck his tongue and licked the blood off the side of his mouth making Ryudo tense and look at him in shock.

"I....I'm sorry. I didn't....mean...."

"It's okay, don't worry about it."

He got up and rolled his neck around a couple of times before sighing. Looking at the time, it read only two in the afternoon.

"Well since I don't have anything to do today, how about I teach you how to read and write?"

Gail's tail wagged happily at that.

"That would be great."

"Okay. Get out of those clothes and into something more comfortable and I'll teach you the basic."

Gail nodded before hurrying upstairs. Ryudo watched with a chuckle before picking the recliner up and taking a seat on the couch. His mind was going a mile a minute as he thought about what he heard. To think he would have to marry that bitch Jessica all because his father wanted more money. Gail came back downstairs wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top, his tail wagging happily as he joined Ryudo on the couch.

"Alright," Ryudo said with a smile. "We'll start with the basics."

Ryudo sat in the study hall as kids were laughing and joking during their free period. He was reading a book on hybrid diseases when Blake walked over and sat next to him.

"What's up Ryu? What you reading?"

"Book on hybrid diseases."

"I thought that wasn't until next semester?"

"Gail's mom is sick and they are going to let her die unless I figure out what's wrong with her. I have a basic idea but I need more info."

Blake frowned when he heard that.

"People are savages."

"No shit," Ryudo replied, turning another page.

"Hello future hubby."

Ryudo shivered when he heard that and looked up to see Jessica standing there.

"What do you want?"

"Is that anyway to talk to your wife?"

"Wife? What is she talking about?" Blake asked.

"Ryudo is going to be my husband. We're going to get engaged at my birthday party."

Blake looked at Ryudo with wide eyes.

"Are you serious!?"

"Sadly yes."

"Isn't this exciting? Now we can be together forever. I always did have a crush on you."

"Too bad I don't feel the same way," Ryudo said, going back to his book.

"Don't worry, I'll make sure you're satisfied every night," Jessica said with a sluttly grin.

Ryudo gagged a little before covering his mouth.

"Go away please. I just ate not too long ago."

"Such a sense of humor. I'll see you at the party 'darling'."

They watched her leave as Ryudo sighed.

"Why are you getting married and why wasn't I told?"

"It wasn't my decision. My dad is making me marry her so he can get her father's company," Ryudo replied turning another page and jotting down some stuff on paper.

"Damn dude, I feel for you."

"Maybe I can spike the punch and knock myself out before I say I do. Do you think you can get these things for me?"

Blake looked at the stuff Ryudo wrote down.

"I think I can. I know a few people that might be able to get the stuff you need. When do you need them?"

"As soon as possible. I don't know what kind of condition she'll be in."

"You got it. I'll try and have them for you at the party."

"Thanks man," Ryudo said as the bell rang.

Ryudo sat in the car, parked on the curb with a bunch of other cars. The two story house he was sitting next to had a lot of noise coming from it as people were walking towards the front door. He looked to his right to see Gail staring at the house, his tail twitching side to side nervously.

"Are you sure you want to come along?" Ryudo asked.

"Yes. I want to experience my first party."

Ryudo chuckled before reaching over and holding his hand.
