Though many on edge, the race went smoothly with Carly just edging Alice out of first on the last corner of the race. "I do need to talk to you later." Alice said to Nodrog as part of their verbal conversation with some others.

While the dragon was polite and courteous to those in attendance, it was very clear that he was her body guard. After they were on the elevator, Nodrog asked. "What did you need to talk to me about?"

"Is there something wrong with me?" Alice asked after a short pause.

Nodrog looked a bit puzzled." What do you mean?"

"I don't feel like myself, especially behind the wheel." Alice said.

Nodrog gave it a little thought. "I have not noticed anything. We can certainly check later this evening once everyone is asleep."

"That would make me feel a little better. Might just be all in my head, but to be accused of cheating, that really hurt." Alice said as they got off the elevator and headed for their rooms.

"No one took that very well. Get ready for bed and I will be in shortly after." Nodrog waited for her door to click as she locked it. He went to his own room to get changed and cleaned up. Alice had remained rather calm out at the track when cheating was brought up, but now away from people she was really worried about it.

Alice took a quick shower and brushed her teeth before putting on her pajamas. She was absent mindedly combing her hair as she watched some late night news. Alice was a little surprised to see Lilith with Nodrog, and felt suddenly under dressed. "A little more warning next time."

"Sorry, but I thought it better to bring in someone more qualified. Lilith's medicine teachings are much more suited to what you asked me, than my... more heavy handed techniques." Nodrog said with a reassuring smile.

"This is something better left to more delicate hands." Lilith said and reached in a bag to pull out a small crystal vial. "Plus if you do not mind Michaela asked if I could get a blood sample. For her ongoing research."

"I don't think that will be a problem. And I do remember how delicate your touch is." Alice said and the two of them blushed.

Lilith smiled. "Well, sit up on the bed with me. We need to be crossed legged and facing each other."

"Like this?" Alice asked.

"Yup." Lilith said and sat close enough their knees were touching. "Now give me your hands."

"He is, however generally this is done sitting on the ground. Being several stories up in the air, his powerful earth elemental alignment will act as our ground." Lilith said.

"Ground?" Alice asked.

"Yes, ground. Besides being done on the ground, it is usually done on holy ground. To keep our bodies and spirits safe." Lilith said and gave Alice a wink. "He may not be holy in any way, but no evil is going to try and harm us in his presence."

"Of that I can assure you." Nodrog said.

"Okay close your eyes and concentrate on my voice, and my voice only." Lilith said.

Alice did as she was told, though it was not hard to focus on Lilith's lovely elfin voice. She did not have the benefit of a translator, so all Alice heard was Elf. "The race." Alice said and quickly memories of the race replaced Jenny. Even the smell of hot exhaust and high octane race fuel was present.

"Can you focus on your feelings?" Lilith asked a bit overwhelmed by the vivid memories Alice had.

As Alice though about the race, Lilith looked around at the memories and emotions Alice had felt. It was a bit like being at the electronics department at a store, with images and sound coming from all directions. It would be highly confusing to most people, but if you know what you are looking for, it is incredibly easy.

"I thought you liked racing?" Lilith asked.

"I do like racing..." Alice said and the memories changed. "Oops sorry about that."

Lilith only giggled. "It is perfectly fine. I think I might have found part of it."

Alice walked over to Lilith. "Is there something wrong?"

"No, but go back to the last race." Lilith said.

Alice watched slightly puzzled as more recent images came back. As to what the elf was doing Alice could not really say. Lilith kind of examined her memory like a person would examine an object.

"At some point you lost the joy you had. It kept your competitive nature toned down. With no joy, you are only concerned with winning." Lilith said.

They both turned as a memory played of Jenny holding Harley as they heard Alice snap at Marko in the car about being hungry and tired. Lilith watched as a couple of tears fell down Alice's cheeks.

"I miss them." Alice said.

"You do have the ability to instantly see them any time you wish." Lilith said and put a hand on Alice's shoulder.

"I don't want to take advantage of him like that." Alice said.

"Trust me, teleporting you any place you want to go is hardly taking advantage of him. For that matter teleporting you and your other car would not even begin to tap his power." Lilith said.

As soon as Alice thought about it, images and the sound of the little red sports car came to her. It's happy exhaust note as it zipped along a stretch of west coast road. What really shook Alice was the euphoria she remembered just driving, the destination of little importance.

Alice opened her eyes and found they were still in the hotel room. Nodrog looked at her as Lilith stretched.

"I do need one, I had forgotten about it." Lilith said and quickly got out the things she needed for that. It was over quickly and was painless. After which Lilith got off the bed and summoned a shadow. "I am going to have to make some notes, Alice has such vivid memories. I am astonished at the detail. Have a good evening, I need to head for home."

Alice put a hand on Nodrog's arm. "Take me home, please."

Jenny opened her eyes as Nodrog woke her, she was surprised to see Alice climbing into the bed with her. "Is something wrong love?"

Jenny was certainly not going to complain about having Alice in her arms for the night. Or still holding her mouse in the morning when they woke up. Jenny wondered what had prompted the surprise trip home as Alice held Harley in her arms. All she did know was something that had been missing was suddenly back.

Alice did not get much time to spend with Jenny and Harley, but even two hours raised her spirits quite a bit. Thankfully being at home meant she had clothes to put on before heading down to the garage to collect an old friend.

The little red car shined in the low light of the shop. Alice walked over and put a hand on the front fender, she felt genuine guilt from neglecting the Lotus. It was her first true love after all. Nodrog chuckled and the world went black. When the world came back into view Alice and the Lotus were sitting at a road side pull off. She was on a stretch of deserted Nevada two lane blacktop. The sun still two hours away from rising here, not a cloud in the sky to dampen the stars in the sky.

Alice put the Lotus in gear, checked that it was clear and rolled out onto the road. She left the radio off so she could listen to the familiar engine sing to her. All alone with just empty road and the Lotus, Alice could relax and enjoy the feeling of just driving for the sake of driving. No destination, no pressure, no cameras or media, just a cruise.

Alice's heart fluttered as the road became twisty, just like the feeling of being in Jenny's sensual embrace. She was driving fast, but not aggressively. So she simply headed to the where the next race was taking place.

She turned on the radio and set the cruise control at a steady eighty five miles per hour. Quick enough to be enjoyable but slow enough to also be enjoyable. Of course not having her phone on her was also a pleasant change as well. It wouldn't last long, but the mini vacation was just what the monsters ordered. Alice was glowing her mood so improved when she stopped for lunch and more fuel. Back on the road she caught up to a very familiar looking truck and trailer rolling down the road. She had caught up to Randy without even thinking about it. That ought to confuse the hell out of her cousin.

So after a quick check of the side mirror, Alice zipped out and pulled up alongside the blue truck. Alice smiled and beeped the horn.

Randy glanced out the side window and was completely surprised to see the little red sports car. He responded to her little horn by laying on the truck's air horn. He chuckled as the little car weaved in its lane before taking off again. He had thought it a trick until he got the chance to read the plates. Somehow Alice had driven most of the way across the country in a day... or a certain iron friend gave her a lift to a closer point.

What ever the method, Alice beat Randy to the race track by a couple hours. The rest of them were not even scheduled to land until tomorrow. For that matter Alice was not supposed to even be here for three more days. Randy didn't really care, at least he wouldn't be stuck at the track for a couple days. After getting the truck parked they got in the Lotus and went off in search of dinner.

Randy was a little surprised by how chatty his cousin was. She had been getting quieter and quieter with each passing week the last month and a half. Alice barely said a word at the last race, usually replying with single word phrases. "Not sure what prompted the change, but is nice to have you back to your ol'self."

"Just misplaced something important, thanks to a certain dragon and an early morning cruise; I found it again." Alice said as they waited for dinner.

"What did ya lose?" Randy asked.

"The joy I had for driving." Alice said.

Randy thoughtfully sipped at his iced tea. "Everyone gets burnt out now an than. Even if it is somethin' they love."

"Do you get burn out being constantly on the road?" Alice asked as the waiter brought them their food.

"Once an a while... Mainly because there is a little kitten of my own I would like to spend more time with." Randy said with a smile.

"That is harder than I thought it would be. I guess I did not realize how much time Jenny and I were together even with work." Alice said and cut into her dinner.

"Now that you mention it, the two of you were never apart for very long. Even before you started dating. Seems like Jenny was always with you." Randy said before digging into his hamburger.

"She would take any reason to be away from her family back then. I don't know how she survived living like that." Alice said.

"Least she has a good home now." Randy said.

"That she does, I am so lucky that everyone in our family is so understanding and open minded about things." Alice said.

"We just want you to be happy." Randy said.

Alice and Randy had fun talking the night away. While Nodrog spent much of the day taking care of things, and causing mischief that would make even Jenny proud. He had Alice's phone after all, and could imitate her voice to a frightening degree.

Not only did he answer her phone, but spoke in her voice to everyone on the other end. Including Alice's dad, some media people and a few others. He was going to fool Jenny, but decided at the last second not to. He did tell her that Alice would have her phone later, and he would have Alice call Jenny back.

To say that everyone was surprised to see the little red Lotus sitting next to the truck and trailer at the track, would be a little bit of an understatement. "So about that thing I talked to you about the other day." Ron said and Alice just looked at him blankly.

"What thing? What day?" Alice asked as they stood around in the garage at the track.

"How could you forget, it was important?" Ron asked a bit flustered.

Everyone looked at Nodrog when he cleared his throat. "I sort of forgot to tell Alice about it."

"Tell me what?" Alice asked.

"That your father called while you were out driving." Nodrog said.

After a short pause Alice quickly figured it out. "You impersonated me on a phone call with my dad?"

Nodrog nodded. "Along with a few other people too."

"No way, your voice is way too deep to imitate Alice." TJ said.

Nodrog smiled and when he spoke he sounded exactly like TJ "I can impersonate anyone's voice. To a degree that even family cannot detect."

"If I could do that, I would have gotten away with so much more when we were little." DJ said, astounded to hear her sister's voice come from the dragon.

"Ya, cause you didn't get me in enough trouble." TJ grumbled.

"So is there anything important I should know or expect?" Alice asked and after a pause added. "Also don't do it again."

"Just a couple of things, nothing major." Nodrog chuckled. He caught Alice up on everything and made sure to give her the message to call Jenny later today. Still things needed to be done and there was not much time for any more goofing around. Well, there was a little time to goof off.

However instead of calling Jenny after dinner with everyone, she had Nodrog take her home. Where Alice could sleep in her own bed with Jenny and talk about whatever it was that prompted Jenny to call. Since he was in town having brought Alice home, Nodrog decided to spend a little time at his home.

Roslyn sighed contently as Nodrog put his arms around her. "Hello stranger."

"Evening love." Nodrog said softly.

"What brings you by?" Roslyn asked as she rinsed off some things in the sink.

"Alice felt like sleeping in her own bed, and I thought it sounded like a good idea." Nodrog said with a smile.

Roslyn hummed. "Except you don't sleep..."

"Who said anything about going to sleep?" Nodrog playfully growled and nibbled on her neck.

"Oh so that's how it is going to be?" Roslyn said and flicked water at him.

"We could have a drink first..." Nodrog said and looked over at an unopened bottle of whiskey.

"A drink does sound relaxing, but could you do something for me before we get naked?" Roslyn asked as she dried off her hands as he got out two glasses.

"Anything you want." Nodrog said.

"I have a couple of tight muscles in my shoulder and lower back, think you could loosen them up?" Roslyn said as he handed her a glass of whiskey.

"I am sure I can." Nodrog said and sipped his alcohol never breaking his eye contact with Roslyn.

"I am sure you can too." Roslyn said as she unbuttoned her shirt before taking a drink.

Nodrog sat down on the couch and Roslyn sat between his legs. She pulled off her shirt and bra so he could rub her shoulders first. "mmm nothing like a good drink and a shoulder rub from the most handsome dragon at the end of a long day to make a woman feel special."

"So I have heard. I am having a little trouble getting used to some things here on this world, and was wondering if you had the same." Cirrus asked.

"It is possible. After all it was quite the shock from when I went to sleep and when Alice woke me up." Nodrog said.

"At least these humans seem to be a little more open minded than others. I suppose that has to do with the change millions of them went through." Cirrus said and looked at Nodrog. "Where are my manors, would you like a drink? I have tea made."

"That would be nice." Nodrog said and followed Cirrus inside. Everything was neat and tidy, like most dragon homes. Cirrus had some art on the walls and a few interesting sculptures. Most everything was open and very light shades of color. Typical of air elementals, they tended to like more open spaces than other elementals. "I see you are all moved in."

"Yes that did not take long, we air elementals tend to own less than the rest of you." Cirrus said as he pulled out two tall glasses.

"I suppose us children of the earth must seem like hoarders." Nodrog teased.

Cirrus laughed lightly. "Well you do tend to like your shiny metals and gems."

"Almost as bad as dwarves, I only keep what interests me." Nodrog smiled.
