Iron Dragon Chapters 177-178
#88 of Iron Dragon
Nodrog and Marko did not see the four ladies the rest of the day. When they did see them again it was at breakfast the following morning. Where Tabatha was once more connected to electronics. None of them were at all surprised when she announced the company was still in one piece after their absence yesterday. Though it sounded like she was surprised by that fact.
Stacy had spent the day with Randy and met them down at breakfast for the flight back to headquarters. They had managed to pick a date for their own wedding. So that is primarily what Stacy and Roslyn talked about for the flight home. Marko sighed as he answered dozens of questions Tabatha asked him about dozens of projects and events.
Nodrog, Catlin and Kitty all sat quietly with their noses in books or magazines. The two body guards had a great deal more respect for Roslyn after spending a few hours with her. They were also a bit more uneasy around the metal monster in their keep. There was a great deal more power than either of them had been lead to believe.
With so few races left in the season, that meant school had started once again. Though it was early in the school year, Nodrog was heading to campus to meet with Lucy and a few other professors. He would miss the next race because they had a performance late Saturday night, and Sherman's mother would be in town for it. He had already promised to talk to Amber about monsters in general.
It was a nice fifty five outside as he walked across campus. Judging from the number of students out, it was between classes. Nodrog had not been to this building before, but thanks to his unique talents, he knew Lucy was on the fourth floor in one of the other professor's office.
"Ah, I think that would be him." Lucy said as they paused at the sound of metal footsteps.
"Good afternoon." Nodrog said with a smile as he entered the office.
"Same to you. Did you have trouble finding us?" Lucy asked.
"None at all." Nodrog smiled warmly. Unlike her daughter, Lucy's voice carried rather well.
Lucy turned to look at the two other professors. Both of whom were Lucy's age and both were good looking. A very lovely red panda anthro and a silver haired woman. "Allow me to introduce you to my colleagues, professor Ling and professor Clark."
Nodrog bowed slightly. "A pleasure to meet you both."
"It is nice to meet the dragon Lucy has talked so much about." Ling said as she eyed him carefully.
"Indeed it is. She tells us you are fluent in several different languages. " Clark said as she looked over her thin framed glasses at him.
"I doubt I am as fluent as I used to be, I do not get to use them that often." Nodrog said.
Ling asked him a few things in Mandarin and Clark a few things in French. Given that he could mimic their accent both ladies were suitably impressed. The college would be hosting a language festival, high schools from the region would bring students to the college for activities and competitions. The three of them were in charge and needed a little extra help. Nodrog would walk around with two books of tickets, students could get them from him in several ways. Either they spoke directly too him in nearly any language or, he overheard them talking to others in anything but English. He would be wearing a special vest, that marked him as someone helping with the event.
Nodrog would not be the only one with two ticket books, since there were three other multi language students who would be doing the same. Each of them had a second book that was only for students who demonstrated a level of fluency in more than one language. The second ticket was rather valuable since it put them in a drawing for a scholarship. Which made Nodrog the ringer, provided the students figured out he knew all of the more common languages and a few that were not.
He would be paid for his time, since it was an entire Saturday. Not that he really needed it and would have volunteered just for the fun of it. As he walked back to the bus stop, he was rather glad to find things to do besides violence. So with a music performance coming up and this, it really made for a good month. However the following month would be even better.
Next month Tera would be in town, for the entire month. She was going to be busy, but insisted that Nodrog, Winston and the others perform with her at least once. Which was easy to arrange since they were Wednesday's preferred band to record with. It was a duet, he was looking forward to hearing very much.
With Alice in town for a few days along with Randy, thanks to Nodrog. Jenny wanted a picture, with everyone in it. Kids included, so it was a very large group photo. Kenny's family, Alice's parents, Jim and Carrel, Sherman and Samantha, Stacy and Randy, Roslyn, Mike and Carly, Joe's family, the twins, Little Joe, Wes and Natasha. Pretty much everyone, with Alice stuck in the front and center of them all.
Nodrog only chuckled as Jenny squealed with glee a few days later when she got the picture in. It was a nice photo and since it made her happy that was all that really mattered. Jim hung it on the wall for her, his copy of the photo was sitting on one of the end tables. Everyone got a copy and they all placed it out so it could be seen.
Even Roslyn got a kick out of the photo and had it sitting above the little gas burning fireplace in their apartment. Of course she was looking forward to Tera's visit more than anyone. She was also intrigued about the college project Nodrog would be working on. Roslyn knew a few languages, but only enough to fly planes and do business. She was not very conversatonal, but knew the basics.
Nodrog and Sherman headed out to the airport to pick up Amber. Winston was meeting with some vendors to arrange for a few special delivers. They were later in the year, but some things he wanted to get ordered and reserved well ahead of time. As she was last time, Amber was chatting away with another older woman as they came off the plane and entered the terminal.
Amber spotted the two quickly and said goodbye before heading over to them. Her handsome son looking a little more civilian this time. Of course the iron dragon looked rather handsome as well. She wondered if he would keep his promise. "Hello, so glad to see you both again."
"Always glad to see my mom." Sherman said and hugged her tightly.
"It is good to see you again, was it a pleasant flight?" Nodrog asked.
Amber smiled. "Not too bad, a little long."
"Lets get your bag." Sherman said as they headed to baggage claim.
After getting her bag they headed out to the borrowed SUV Sherman got from the motor pool. She arrived in town a little after lunch, so they were going to stop someplace for lunch. She was staying with Winston and Jennifer as always, and she had a key to get into their new place. They weren't married yet, but they had moved into a little bigger home. With a steady income, and getting Jennifer's student loans paid down, they had a little extra cash after bills.
What really helped was the amount of money the club had gotten in advance for Tera's performances next month. That and neither Sherman or Winston said anything, but Sherman gave his little brother a few thousand, to help get a few things paid off. Winston didn't ask, and Sherman had to push the idea a little to get his brother to accept it. Hopefully Jennifer would never find out about it.
Speaking of the cute, pudgy little fox, she had just gotten home a few minutes before the three of them showed up. Really just long enough to set her purse down and take off her shoes. "Oh, hey it is that time!" Jennifer said excitedly as she looked at her watch.
"You must have just got off. Don't jump up honey, I know you work a lot of hours." Amber said as they walked in. "What a cute place."
Jennifer still got up. "Well I need a shower, pretty badly actually. So I will save the hug until later, but follow me and I will show you to your new room. You two just have a seat, there are drinks in the fridge."
Nodrog and Sherman both found a spot to sit. Amber came back out and headed to the kitchen to have a little look around. Plus she did need something to drink, lunch had made her thirsty. Moms also tended to be a little nosy, so she looked through the house. "Much more room than that place they had. They even have a little bit of a back yard."
"I see mom has already made herself at home." Winston said with a smile.
Amber blushed. "Well Jennifer needed a shower, so I may have shown myself around."
"Its alright ma, that's why we love you." Winston said and gave her a hug.
"Everything go smoothly at the club? I would have helped." Nodrog said as Winston got himself something to drink.
"Don't worry about it, I take care of it every year, and my venders really like how early I put in some of my orders." Winston spoke as he walked back into the living room. "My beer guy was really happy with the extra I have coming in for Tera's performance."
"I heard all of them are sold out already." Amber was interested in seeing the new starlet from another world. Though the fact her son was playing for the Velopian singer really put her on cloud nine.
"All of her performances but one did sell out. However those are some very expensive seats." Sherman said.
"To bad they are not as good as the ones we have, right Winston?" Nodrog said with a toothy grin.
Winston chuckled. "No, you can't get much better than on stage with the lead act."
"I am pretty sure I have told everyone in town, twice, that you are performing with Tera... I am rather proud of my boys." Amber said.
"I am pretty proud of him too, not every girl gets to say their fiancée is the headline act." Jennifer held out her left hand so Amber could see the ring. Winston finally got down on his knee and asked her, it was of course a dream come true and she did not hesitate to say yes. Actually she had been a bit worried he never was going to ask her.
Amber smiled brightly. "Oh thank heavens I was beginning to worry he had gotten cold feet."
"Congratulations to the both of you." Nodrog said with a smile as Amber squeezed Jennifer tightly.
"So that's why you were asking about rings." Sherman said.
"Well, yeah and we wanted to tell our parents first. You know darn well mom would have skinned me alive if she found out second or third hand." Winston chuckled.
Sherman hummed. "I suppose you are right about that."
"Well not skinned you alive, but it would have been unpleasant yes. Is that a star ruby?" Amber asked.
"It is, I took my big brother's advice and asked Nodrog about it." Winston chuckled.
Amber and Jennifer both looked at Nodrog, but Amber spoke first. "You helped them both pick out rings?"
Nodrog smiled. "Of course, dragons are well known for their interest in precious metals and stones. Being an earth elemental, I am even more in tune with the earth and all of its beauty and savagery."
"We shouldn't forget he is made of metal." Sherman teased.
"So what lead you to suggest a star ruby?" Jennifer asked, rather curious about it now.
"A ruby has two rather prominent aspects about it. First it is known for being the love stone, helping in a number of ways. The second is that it works with blood; to improve circulation and aids in cleansing of infection and germs from the blood." Nodrog said.
"Plus it seemed a little more personal than just a diamond. And I figured any little thing that could help you at work would be a good thing." Winston added.
"Interesting, I never gave much thought to that sort of thing before." Amber said and mulled over it a little more.
"You know Winston, you never used to believe in that kind of stuff." Jennifer teased as he put his arm around her.
"Yeah, and I never believed in dragons and there is one sitting on our couch." Winston said and gave her a squeeze.
"I was right there with you. Didn't believe in those fairy tales, then I met a dragon... and fairies, elves, a talking yeti." Sherman tried to think of the other strange creatures he has met.
"You forgot a German water Nixie, a planet full of Minotaur and you know a Valkyrie." Nodrog chuckled.
"Certainly has not been a dull moment since meeting you." Sherman said with a mocking tone.
"I am glad you find me entertaining." Nodrog chuckled.
"I was blown away with how you deal with the Velopians and other alien races." Winston said.
"The Velopians and most other races have dealt with my kind more than humans have. Plus, there is a great deal that this world does not know about monsters, that the other races do." Nodrog said.
"Monsters?" Jennifer asked.
"It has become something of a catch all name for those of us that are mostly magical in nature along with being immortal. Or simply all of us that, all mortal races feared. Some of you still fear us to this day." Nodrog said.
"If monsters are real, what about angels and demons?" Jennifer asked.
"They are all real, as I have told other people. There are more true stories about monsters, angels and demons than false. I have personally been to the edges of both heaven and hell." Nodrog said.
"Is that figuratively or literally?" Winston asked.
"Literally." Nodrog paused. "I met Charley as he was walking with an angel to heaven. That is how I knew he passed away before his family called you."
Winston thought about it. "I guess that explains why you were not shocked by the news. Though I thought you would have been a little more upset."
"Unfortunately that just comes with being as old as I am, and the curse that is immortality." Nodrog said.
"Jenny has talked about it, a lot actually. Are you really nearly two thousand years old?" Jennifer asked.
"Yes I am." Nodrog said.
"On another topic, is Alice in town at all? I really wanted to congratulate her on kicking everyone's butt." Amber said.
"Actually I was waiting for her to call and ask me to bring her home." Nodrog chuckled.
"Seems like a long way to fly, just to come home for a day or two." Winston said.
Nodrog raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Who said anything about flying?"
"Well how else would you get anywhere quickly?" Jennifer asked.
"Teleporting... I don't know how Alice keeps from getting sick." Sherman said, his stomach slightly queasy just thinking about it.
Nodrog slugged Sherman in the arm. "Oh come on, you didn't throw up the last two times."
"So you could take all of us to my house instantly?" Amber asked.
"Yes I could. Though a fair number of people do get nauseated their first time." Nodrog said.
"The starships actually have dragons teleport the entire ship and crew for deep space travel. Half of the people that went with Alice got sick." Sherman said.
"It is something you have to get used to. So a quick jump there and back is not something I would recommend since we have plans for tonight." Nodrog said.
"Still, that could save me tons on airfare." Amber said and looked at Winston. "Why didn't you tell me he could do that? I could come see my boys more often."
Winston could only chuckle. "Well, honestly I did not know he could do that sort of thing. We spend most of our time talking about music, not magic."
"Since we do have plans, lets get going cause I am hungry." Jennifer said and shooed them all out the door.
They only had dinner plans, of course they would meet Samantha, Jenny and Harley at the restaurant. A dinner that Jenny did not really pay much attention to Harley since Amber fawned over the little girl. Along with letting not so subtle hints about how she cannot wait for Sherman and Winston to give her grand babies.
Chapter.
Dinner was fun and after dessert they had to part ways. The following day was Thursday, and while everyone else had to work Nodrog did not. So he went over to Winston's place to talk about monsters with Amber. Respecting her request to sleep in, which meant he was still over before eight thirty.
"Can I interest you in some coffee?" Amber asked as he walked into the house.
"Sure, that sounds good." Nodrog said and followed her into the kitchen.
"Do you drink it black or are you like Winston and have sugar with some coffee?" Amber asked.
"Black is fine. He is a bit more picky than his older brother." Nodrog said as he looked at a photo of Jennifer and Winston.
Amber giggled. "I never thought he would eat anything but chicken tenders and plain bean and cheese burritos his entire life. As for vegetables, that was hopeless... Sherman on the other hand, if it was food that boy would eat it, scarf it down like he was half starved."
"Sherman still eats like he is half starved. They are rather opposite, I'm surprised they get along so well." Nodrog spoke as they sat down in the living room.
"I always was surprised as well. Sherman was a good older brother, taking Winston everywhere with him. He even taught Winston to drive while I was working two jobs." Amber said, a little sorrow in her voice.
"The football coach taught Sherman to drive so he could get to and from practice. Even sold Sherman an old rusty Toyota pickup on the cheap. Sherman never got stellar grades, but he worked hard. Gave me most of the money he made to help pay bills. Gave Winston a ride to band and music lessons." Amber paused to sip her coffee.
"I think they knew, how hard things were and tried to get along just so I would have one less thing to worry about. Always did their chores and Winston started cooking dinner in eight grade I think." Amber wiped away a tear. Back then it was so hard to keep their heads above water.
"They are both fine young men, as hard as it must have been. I would say you did everything right." Nodrog said.
"I had a whole lot of help, and luck. Most of those people could have ignored us, but they held out their hand to help when we really needed it. Sherman's coach knew he was not one for academics and suggested Sherman join one of the military branches. Being mom, I was against it. However Sherman knew it was the only way he was going to get anywhere in life." Amber said.
Nodrog sat and listened. It was odd how Sherman grew up with poor economics but was rich with family; and Jenny was exactly opposite. Their struggles were worlds apart, but really in the end it turned out for the better.
Amber's sorrow took a slight tone of anger. "Sherman was doing well, working hard for his promotions... Then he says they selected him for special training and just disappears. For months or more. No one saw or spoke to him for fourteen months at one time."
"Ah, the super soldier program. I am rather familiar with it. That is actually when I met him, towards the end of the program." Nodrog said.
"I don't suppose you can tell me what they did to him?" Amber asked and searched his face for an answer.
"I think that is something Sherman should talk to you about, when he is ready. Trust me he is not very happy with his choice in that regard. How about Winston, how did he end up in the big city?" Nodrog asked.
Amber thought about it for a moment. "I suppose you are right, he will tell me when he is ready. Winston came out here for college, he landed a scholarship. Not a full ride, but enough he could afford to take classes."
"Called me up at least once a week to let me know how he was doing. His grades were very good and he was had a decent job. He even was dating someone, Wednesday a young singer. That was a year before Sherman disappeared. I was feeling pretty good, both my boys were doing good." Amber said.
"They don't talk much about it, so how did they buy the club?" Nodrog asked. He could have gotten the answer other ways, but since Amber was talking, might as well ask her.
Amber smiled. "That little shit, doesn't say a word about it. Just says he has a surprise for me when I come out for graduation. I had been to the club twice before, since he worked there and the band played there."
"I fly out to see graduation. Winston is top of his class, graduates with honors. Always been proud of how well Winston does, I was so happy. After the ceremony we head down to the club, because that is where the surprise is." Amber says as she smiles remembering the day.
"Brian and Ox's parents are there. Jennifer and her parents along with a few close friends. Brian and Winston head to the back and bring out two bottles of wine. They pour everyone a glass and Winston raises his. Says that we are celebrating graduation and taking ownership of the club." Amber's smile grows brighter.
"And the rest is history." Nodrog said.
"Pretty much. It hasn't all been roses, but they work hard and with a few lucky breaks. They are doing alright." Amber said and sipped at her coffee.
"I imagine things are going to get even busier now that they are hosting an off world singer." Nodrog said.
"Is she as talented as I keep hearing?" Amber asked.
Nodrog smiled. "She is a very talented young lady. I could listen to her sing for days."
"Is she anything like Wednesday?" Amber asked.
Nodrog thought about. "There are some similarities, while their tone is close, their styles are rather different. Since Wednesday sings more jazz and blues, while Tera is more Celtic and folk."
"Interesting. Maybe someday I can see one of her performances." Amber said.
"Of that, I am sure something can be arranged." Nodrog said and finished off his coffee.
"So... onto the thing I wanted to talk to you about." Amber said and looked him in the eyes.
"For that, I think a little trip is in order." Nodrog said and after standing up held out his hand.
Amber took it and took a step back as a black shadow formed in front of them. "What is that?"
"This is, Azule. He is a shadow creature and is using his unique magic to allow us to world walk." Nodrog said and lead Amber to Azule.
"World walk?" Amber asked as they walked closer.
"A bit like teleportation, but without the side effects. Think of it as walking through a door." Nodrog said as they stepped into Azule.
Amber was shocked to no longer see the small house but the vibrant color of where they are now. It looked like a giant overgrown coliseum with a green sun burning brightly overhead.
"Welcome to Etal Drasses, considered the first inhabited world, anywhere." Nodrog said.
"It does not look like anyone has lived here for a very long time." Amber looked around, they were on the upper most portion of the coliseum, and she could see overgrown city beyond. At the far end a hole where a giant skeleton lay.
"No one has claimed to live here for a million years or more. It is considered sacred, or holy ground for some. Others, like myself have less than fond memories of it." Nodrog said.
"So who is laying at the far end?" Amber asked.
"I am, those are my rusty bones." Nodrog said.
"Just how many times have you died?" Amber asked. There was no reason to doubt him, considering where they now stood. Along with the few things her boy's father told her.
"Twice." Nodrog said.
"Does that mean he can come back?" Amber asked.
"There is the very slightest possibility. However dragons are the only creatures to reincarnate with full past life memory. Nor is reincarnation an instant thing, it was a few hundred years before I was reborn." Nodrog said.
"Well so much for giving him a piece of my mind." Amber grumbled.
"I wouldn't waste anymore energy on him." Nodrog said.
"Did, did Sherman really kill him?" Amber asked in a hushed tone.
Nodrog looked at Amber, it was clear she wanted to know, but might be afraid of the answer. "Yes, he did. If he had not, I would have."
"Oh." Was all Amber could say.
Nodrog placed a hand on her shoulder. "You asked me for answers. I am not going to lie to you, you of all people deserve honest answers. Even if they might not be what you want to hear."
Amber smiled. "Alright then, I can accept that."
With that, Nodrog told her a great deal of the creatures that usually hid in the dark and shadows, the spirits and the Fay. While Glados did not personally know Sherman and Winston's father, she did know a great deal more about the hunters than Nodrog. He still kept from telling her too much about Sherman, that was something she should hear from her son, not the monster partly responsible for it.
They did not stay on Etal Drasses for long, as it so happened Nodrog took Amber to the small little town Lilith called home. Where the cute little Elf joined them for a light lunch. Lilith's knowledge of all of the many creatures of light put Amber's mind at ease. Plus Nodrog knew some things were better told by other people. He was after all the monster all other monsters feared.
"You know, I should start charging you for all of these consultations." Lilith teased as Nodrog pulled gold out of nowhere to pay for lunch.
"Maybe you should." Nodrog said with a smile.
"Well since you are so agreeable..." Lilith started to say.
Nodrog gave her a kiss on the cheek. "You are a peach, I will start paying you next time."
"Wait a second, that is not very fair." Lilith pouted.
Nodrog chuckled as he lead Amber to the castle so they could head for home. "See you later, and thanks again."
"That was not very nice." Amber said.
"She knows how to find me, besides the two of us have a long history." Nodrog said with a smile.
"A story for another time?" Amber asked.
"Perhaps, it is rather long and rather sad."Nodrog said.
"You did answer everything I had been wondering about for a long time. It would have been nice to know some of that a long time ago." Amber said just before they crossed back into the apartment.
"That does bring up a question I should ask you." Nodrog said. They had been gone most of the morning and had made it back with an hour before Amber was supposed to meet her friend for lunch.
"What is that?" Amber asked.
"Are you going to tell Winston and Sherman the truth?" Nodrog asked.
"But Sherman already knows." Amber said.
"That may be, but he does not know the whole story." Nodrog said.
"I probably should tell them. Maybe it will help them understand." Amber said and looked at the clock. "I thought we were gone much longer than a few hours."
"Time is not the same world to world. Don't worry it will not cause you any harm." Nodrog said.
"After all you have said, I don't get an explanation on that?" Amber asked with a raised eyebrow and hands on her hips.
Nodrog chuckled. "Time is funny on some worlds, there really is no explanation."
"I am not sure how I am going to tell them, but thanks for spending time to set some things right." Amber said.
"No problem at all. I always have time." Nodrog said. With that he teleported back the company grounds to possibly get some work done. Really all he had to do was check on a few things.
While most things could be done in causal, Nodrog did have to change into his suit for a meeting late in the afternoon. The late afternoon meeting was actually about Cirrus and the starship. The air elemental dragon was dressed in a light gray suit and had made a little effort to sit next to Tabatha. The mouse blushed slightly from something they were talking about. Apparently the young dragon already found someone he was interested in.
The few tests they had run so far, had gone better than expected. The handful of problems they had, had been easy to correct. Much to everyone's relief. The majority of the Velopians that had been helping train the crew would be heading for home. A few weeks before they originally had planned, which they found nice. It made getting volunteers for future projects that much easier.
"You seem rather pleased with yourself." Nodrog said after the meeting was over as he and Cirrus stood near the windows.
Cirrus smiled. "I am, after some work, Tabatha has agreed to let me come over to her place and cook dinner for a date."
"Oh, well that is good to hear. So what are you making?" Nodrog asked.
"Still working on that part. I would ask you, but I somehow I doubt she would like metal or gems." Cirrus chuckled.
"I would suggest talking to Jenny about it, she does all of their cooking." Nodrog said.
"Now that is a good idea. I am also excited to hear you play this weekend." Cirrus said as Marko came over to them.
"As am I. It seems you have adjusted to Earth rather quickly." Marko said.
Cirrus smiled. "It was an easier transition than I thought. There is plenty to see and do, as well as people to go do things with."
"I am glad to hear that." Marko said.
Nodrog turned to watch a plane take off. "As am I, it is a huge relief how well you and the other off worlders get along with the humans here."
"I do not see why any would have a problem; the accommodations are exceptional, compensation is above par and lets not forget how well trained and friendly the staff here is. I can safely say you have erased any doubts I had in taking this navigator slot." Cirrus said.
"I try my best, to keep the best around. As for your dinner conundrum, Tabatha really likes spinach and ricotta stuffed shells." Marko said with a smile and a chuckle before he headed off for the evening.
Nodrog also chuckled. "Well, that was certainly easy."
"I am truly impressed with how much he knows about everyone that works for him. His dedication to those in his employment is astounding." Cirrus said as they too left the meeting room.
"I think that is something everyone likes about him, he genuinely seems to care." Nodrog spoke as they walked.
Cirrus glanced at his watch. "Would Jenny be in the lab this late, or would she be home?"
"She has been in their apartment for fifteen minutes." Nodrog chuckled.
"Think it would be alright for me to stop by unannounced?" Cirrus asked.
Nodrog smiled. "Why go unannounced when I could just tell her?"
"I forget some humans are like the Velopians and love when people just show up for no reason at all." Cirrus said with a smile.
"Either case, she is not busy at the moment." Nodrog said as they got on the elevator.
Actually Jenny was just working on what to cook them for dinner when the two dragons came in after knocking. Alice and Lucy had Harley with them at the moment. "Hey there."
"Hello." Nodrog said as he closed the door behind them.
"Hello." Cirrus had never been in anyone else's apartment before, so he was curious to what was different about them.
"Nodrog said you need a little dinner help." Jenny said with a smile. "Who is the special lady?"
"I do need a little help. It has taken a little work, but Tabatha agreed to let me cook dinner for a date." Cirrus said.
"Tabatha as in Marko's assistant, Tabatha?" Jenny asked a little surprised.
"Yes, that Tabatha." Nodrog said.
Jenny put a finger to cheek. "I do not recall her ever going on a date before... Anyways what can I help you with."
Cirrus kept the laughter to himself as the tip of the catgirl's tail flicked back and forth excitedly. "Marko had mentioned she really likes stuffed shells, spinach and ricotta."
The two dragons both laughed as she quickly spun around in the kitchen to look for a book. "Alice loves Italian food, so I have a whole cookbook just for that."
Jenny flipped the book open to the index and found three different versions of that very dish. She opened it up to one of them before turning around and setting it on the counter for Cirrus to look at. "There are a couple in this book. You are more than welcome to borrow it."
Cirrus looked over the recipe, it did not look very complicated. "I think this will work out nicely. I wonder what should go with it?"
"I usually serve bread with Italian. Something with a hard crust but a soft inside." Jenny said.
"I will have to see what I can find. Thank you for the help." Cirrus said and bowed.
"Any time." Jenny said with a smile, her tail dancing behind her.
