The Plan Chapter 1
Neo Cortex is up to his old tricks again. His plan this time: To Make Crash fall for his sister Coco to keep him from interfering with his plans of world domination.
The tags are to cover the whole story, not just this chapter.
Dr. Neo cortex stood on the observation deck of his newest space station, looking down at the world below him. He had recently rebuilt this space station...for the eighth time, and it wasn't at all the most durable or structurally sound of his creations.
He normally would never have even considered stepping foot on such a shoddy space station, but as he had nowhere that he could go on earth, this station was the best he had. He grit his teeth angrily as he turned from the window, walking over to the reactor just behind him, a large assortment of gem and crystal fragments floated in an energy field, together providing the power for his space station to remain in orbit.
His last defeat at the hands of his most hated enemy, Crash Bandicoot, was the reason he was floating in this derelict space station. As usual, Cortex had come up with a brilliant plan to dominate the globe, utilizing the power of the Crystals and Gems to execute his plans and as usual, despite the odds being in his favor, he had lost yet again. Sometimes Cortex wondered if the world conspired against him.
He sighed and pulled up a systems analysis on the computer screen in front of him, observing the energy reactions for a little while before a door to his left slid open. Looking towards it, he saw his longtime ally and closest thing to a friend, Dr. N. Gin, step through, looking distinctly haggard, and carrying a heavy tool box under one arm.
The man was short of stature and quite disfigured. An active warhead was logged in the right side of his head, sealed off and covered with heavy metal plating that had been bolted to his face. He set the tool box down with a grunt and said, "The thrusters are repaired Dr. Cortex, but unless we get new material and parts, we won't stay in orbit for very long."
Cortex sighed again and turned back to his readings, looking them over again for a moment before he said, "I know N. Gin, I know. If it wasn't for that blasted Bandicoot, we wouldn't be in this situation. Why can't he let me win for once?!"
Cortex slammed a fist against the metal frame of the computer and wasn't surprised when it flew off and hit the floor. He growled and turned away from the device, walking back over to the viewing window while N. Gin retrieved the frame from the floor.
Cortex glowered at the world below him, a world that should be his but never would be for as long as that Bandicoot lived. In every single one of his plans, no matter how well executed, Crash had always seen to it that he was thwarted. Cortex shook his head and said out loud to himself, "Manipulating time, mind control, deception, magic, science, superior fire power, and voodoo have all failed to defeat Crash Bandicoot. It seems that no matter what I do, he and his friends always beat me."
He hung his head a bit as N. Gin walked up beside him and asked, "What's the new plan Doctor? How are we going to defeat the bandicoot?"
Cortex glared at him and said, "Plan? There isn't one you fool! Do you think that I have time to plan for something I know I'll lose? Whatever I do, as soon as that bandicoot gets involved, it's all over!"
Cortex turned away from the window and paced back to the center of the room and said, "I might as well not try at all, especially since I already know the outcome."
Cortex fell silent as he paced around the room, looking absolutely defeated. N. Gin looked back down at the world they orbited around for a moment, thinking quietly to himself. After a moment he perked up and said, "Dr. Cortex! I have an idea!"
Cortex froze in place and looked at N. Gin with a scowl and asked, "What is it N. Gin?"
N. Gin turned from the window and said, "Dr. Cortex, what if the bandicoot didn't get involved at all?"
Cortex broke out into hysterical laughter at this, the mere notion that Crash Bandicoot wouldn't bother getting involved to save the world was laughable. He stopped laughing abruptly and said, "Did you get hit in the head or something? Crash Bandicoot not get involved in stopping me? That's rich."
N. Gin shook his head and motioned to the world and said, "It isn't, Crash Bandicoot, and his friends, are all genetically re-purposed animals. They were created to be our super soldiers."
Cortex waved his hand irritably and said, "I know that N. Gin, what's the point of reminding me?"
N. Gin smiled and said, "All animals have a basic instinct, to reproduce. It was changed during the mutation process to become traditional emotions of affection and attachment. If we create a chemical to reawaken and enhance his most basic of instincts, he'll be too busy pursuing females to bother with our operations."
Cortex cupped his chin in one hand, looking at his companion for a moment before saying, "It won't work N. Gin, Crash's sister, Coco, will create an antidote for it. Her intelligence rivals both of ours."
N. Gin smiled even broader and say, "Not if we affect her too, don't forget Dr. Cortex, there are only two compatible females in all of the world for Crash; Coco and Tawna. Tawna doesn't possess the intellect to undo what we did, and if Coco were otherwise occupied..."
Cortex immediately started laughing wickedly, the idea of subduing his arch nemesis in such a way was greatly appealing to him. Cortex could just imagine their reactions when the agent that made them that was lifted, to see the world controlled by him and the full awareness of what they had done together. He grinned broadly and said, "N. Gin, you're a genius! Come on, we have work to do!"
With that, the two of them set out to execute their plan.
