With a quick swish, the glass doors of the Pokemon Center opened and the sound of people yelling and complaining filled Jaden's and Autumn's ears. As they entered and looked around, they saw groups of trainers holding severely injured Pokemon. They proceeded to the counter to speak with the head of the center about accommodations for the night. Once there Jaden saw a familiar woman with flashy red hair in a pink nurse's outfit. She curtsied politely and walked to the counter followed by a round Pokemon with similar nurse's garments.

"Hello young man my name is Nurse Joy, I run this center so if you need anything please... don't ask." Nurse Joy said as she sighed and leaned against the counter weakly.

"Whoa, you don't look so good. Is everything quite alright?" Jaden asked as he watched her, Autumn leapt up onto the counter and nuzzled the hand Nurse Joy was leaning on.

"Oh it's been pretty busy the last few days that's all. Every five minutes another trainer comes in with their Pokemon dead or dying in their arms. I haven't the staff to help deal with this many patients." She replied as she covered her face with her hands.

Jaden thought for a moment, "Nurse Joy, you work with the latest in healing equipment developed by Silph Co., correct?"

"Of course we do, why?" She looked up at him.

Jaden went on to explain how he was trained in the use of such machines in the lab of Professor Oak. After showing her his Pokedex with his license that Oak gave him programmed into it he offered his assistance until things calmed down. Nurse Joy thought it through and, after a quick call to the Prof. to verify the information, accepted his offer and immediately put him to work. It was his job to take the trays of Pokeballs from the front and place them into the regeneration chambers. After about three hours he'd healed approximately ninety five Pokemon and that was only the beginning.

Near the end of the day Nurse Joy went into the back and blew a whistle. Suddenly, about ten of these round Pokemon rushed out of the wood work to line up in front of her. As the nurse barked orders at them Jaden pulled out his Pokedex and aimed the eye at one of the Pokemon. With a beep the screen came to life and a voice began reciting information.

"Chansey, the kind Pokemon, this rare Pokemon is known for its kindness to those who are unhappy. When in contact with an unhappy person they are known to give the egg seen in their pouch to said person. They are most likely to be seen in every Pokemon center around the world."

Jaden flipped the device shut as the voice died and watched as the group saluted and scattered once again. Some of them went to the kitchen and began cooking everything from rice patties, to cream of celery soup. A few went to the laundry room and gathered bed dressings to ready the rooms for the guests. The final gaggle of Pokemon scattered about the operating room cleaning the tables and instruments. Nurse Joy walked up to Jaden and sighed.

"Well I have to say it has been one heck of a day. I must thank you for your assistance today; I fear without you I would have gone mad." She joked and laughed.

Jaden merely smiled modestly, "Well it was nothing really. If I can help then I will."

Autumn, who'd been lounging near his bag next to the wall, looked up at him with a smile and a twinkle in her eye. She really admired his modesty and willingness to help others. It made her love him even more.

"Is there anything I could do to repay you for your work today?" Nurse Joy asked.

"Well... I am fresh on the road and I've no money for food or supplies. Would it be too much to ask for some of your extra potions and maybe some packaged food for the road?" He asked in response.

"That's no problem at all! In fact, stay the night and in the morning I'll have something put together for you.

Jaden nodded and gathered his things in his pack and left the treatment area with Autumn on his heels. He headed for a room on the second floor that had been prepared for him and his Pokemon by Nurse Joy. Once there he set his pack down near the door and headed for the bed, which he fell heavily onto and sighed. Autumn leapt up onto the bed and hovered over him licking his cheek.

"It was really nice of you to help Nurse Joy out like you did but you worked yourself too hard." Autumn said as she nuzzled his cheek with her face affectionately.

"I'm fine; Nurse Joy needed everything I could give. Besides I like helping others." He said as he ran his hand along her back a few times making her shiver and blush. "I'm sorry you had to sit there doing nothing all day though. You must have been bored out of your mind." He added with a laugh.

"I actually had a lot of fun watching you work. I always heard from Oak that you were a hard worker but I'd never seen you in action until today. And the way you look when you're concentrating is cute, your face crumples up and you stick your tongue out like this." She replied as she grimaced a face that would make an English Royal Guard crack a smile. And smile is just what Jaden did, he smiled small at first but it grew out into a wide grin and he laughed whole heartedly for the first time in days. Autumn soon joined him and they laughed together for a few minutes straight.

When the two of them finally stopped Jaden's sides were in pain and he could barely hold back his tears. Autumn had rolled on her back and was flailing her legs in the air next to him. They glanced at each other, both of them still smiling, and they both blushed and faced away from each other in embarrassment. Jaden was the first one to break silence after a long and awkward pause.

"Hey Autumn..." Jaden said as he kept his gaze away from her.

She looked up at him with her fiery red eyes, "Yes?"

"I just wanted to say... well how glad I am... that we're together." He said as his face flushed into a deep blush. He winced as he wished he had a second chance to word it better.

"Jaden... I'm glad to be with you too. I was so happy to see you when you first released me from my ball. When I saw you I thought I was dreaming. That's why I sat looking at you like I did. I wanted to make sure it was really you..."

Jaden looks over at her and she is on her side facing away from him, her leaf bent up and over covering her like a blanket. She looked as if she were about to cry, her body shivering slightly. As he gazed at her form he felt something inside him burn, like a fire that until that point had been weak or non-existent. He wanted to say something but he didn't know what it was. What was this weird feeling?!

"Autumn... it was me. And I'll always be here by your side, no doubt about it. So don't cry little one... don't cry." He said as he placed his hand on her side and kissed the top of her head. Her shivering stopped and a feeling of happiness filled her body. She smiled and closed her eyes as a small tear of joy fell from her eye.

The two of them fell asleep afterward, Autumn where she had been lying and Jaden right next to her with his arm wrapped around her for comfort. In his dreams, Jaden found himself walking down a long, dark hall. Nothing but a small light at the end could be seen and he had an idea that he better walk as fast as he could to get there. As if on cue, the floor began to shake violently. Pieces of the path behind him were collapsing into darkness and he figured all hell was about to break loose. He ran as if his life depended on it towards the light. As he looked forward he realized that in the center of the light was a small figure standing on four legs. It was Autumn and she was smiling and watching him as if she knew he would make it. Unfortunately the floor gave way faster and soon it was under his feet and he fell slowly into the dark abyss.

Jaden then woke up and nearly leapt from the bed, his face was white and his white tee shirt was drenched in cold sweat. Autumn, who had been sleeping until the rude awakening of being bounced all to hell, looked at him with concern.

"Jaden are you alright, you look like you just saw a ghost?" Autumn asked, her voice shaking in shock.

"Yeah... I'm fine. I just had a nightmare..." Jaden replied, he placed a hand to his forehead to wipe away the sweat. Why did he have such a strange dream? And what did it mean?

Autumn sighed in relief and jumped into his lap, her eyes looking up at him with compassion, "Everything is alright now Jaden, and I'm right here if you need me." She said with a smile.

Jaden looked at her and remembered that smile from his dream. He wondered if it meant anything. Could the dream have some type of deeper meaning? Or was the dream showing him some type of vision to help explain his feelings? He didn't know but all he knew was that he was really happy to see her and he grabbed her up into his arms and hugged her tight. Autumn looked up at him a bit confused but absolutely loving the affection. She nuzzled her face into his chest lovingly despite the sogginess from his sweat.

"Good point Coleman... tell the guards to keep a close watch on all exits for now and start preparing our transports. We need to move anyhow, this cave is getting a little too moist from the humidity our machines are creating..."
