Chapter 6: Come Back To Me
#6 of The Mating Season 2:
Chapter 6: Come Back To Me
Lea hung helpless over her father's shoulder, trying to keep her sniffles and hiccups low, trying not to glance up. She could hear wolves snickering as her father passed, could hear low remarks about her red and punished buttocks, and wished to hell that she could disappear on the spot. Only naughty pups were carried by their fathers like this. Lea was sixteen and on the verge of adulthood. This was a disgrace and her father knew it. She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to ignore the murmuring and the snickering. This public humiliation, this was nothing compared to what was in store. Her mother was going to be terribly angry, might even take it upon herself to whip Lea too, and Lea didn't think she could take another whipping. She was still so sore from the last whipping that she had to keep lifting her tail to keep it from brushing the tender flesh. She felt so wretched. Oh, why had she stormed out on her mother? Why couldn't she just stay put in the village? She let out a sob before she could stop herself and felt some small comfort when her father took pity on her and patted the back of her thigh.
When Lea lifted her head again, she realized they had come to the pavilion near the village square. Little picnic tables lined this grassy area and pups ran back and forth chasing balls and playing with wooden swords, riding on their fathers' shoulders, flying little kites. Most of the children pointed and laughed at Lea, and she closed her eyes and ground her teeth when a father laughingly asked Loryn where he'd gotten such a well-developed six-year-old.
Loryn set his daughter on her feet at last. They were standing near one of the massive poles holding up the great pavilion. Lea saw out of the corner of her eye that her father was leaning his spear against it. She stood with her head bowed as his paw touched her cheek, examining the place where he'd slapped her as if to make sure she wasn't really hurt. She knew her father had held back when he slapped her for her disobedience, but the cheek was still sore and she winced when he examined it. He dropped his paw and merely stood gazing at her.
Lea kept her head down. She knew why her father had brought her here: he wanted to talk to her privately. He couldn't have taken her to his own hut because Eno was sure to be there, and he couldn't take Lea to her mother and still manage a private conversation with her. Kira would not allow him to do so. But Lea didn't think she could talk to her father. She was just so angry! And not because of the whipping or the smacking. She had deserved that. She was angry that he had left her. She felt abandoned and she felt rejected and she was angry.
"Look at me," Loryn said, a soft command.
Lea sniffed and looked up at her father. His black eyes were sad but intense. He was leaning his shoulder against the wooden pavilion pole, his arms folded across his broad chest, the muscles in them bulging. He had always been so big and strong, and when she was a child, it had made her happy to swing from his biceps. But now she was just bitter and afraid: bitter that those strong protecting arms had abandoned her, afraid of the strength those arms had to whip her.
"God, you're just a little girl," said her father, shaking his head and gazing at her with misty eyes. "Seventeen is far too young for the mating seasons. They should make you pups wait longer. Or . . ." He laughed softly at his own words. "Or maybe I only feel this way because I'm your father. I was never so bloodthirsty as when I saw Kilyan on top of you. If he wasn't Kel's son, he might not have a head about now." Loryn laughed again.
Lea gulped and sniffed and said nothing.
"Why did you do it, Lea?" Loryn demanded, suddenly grim. "After your mother and I have worked so carefully over the years to instill the fear of the lone wolf in you? Why? What you felt when I whipped you? That pain was nothing compared to a hearty rape. Had some lone wolf come along he would have ripped you up, made you bleed. Maybe you wouldn't be able to bear pups. Maybe I'd be shoveling dirt on you right now!"
Lea flinched at the sudden ferocity in the words.
"But you would still do this foolish thing. Why were you really out in the forest? Are you and Kilyan in love? Is that it?"
Lea blushed and shook her head vigorously.
"Well, this whole thing certainly wasn't about firewood."
Lea's mouth opened as if she would speak, but she bit her tongue and bowed her head again. Before she knew what was happening, she was crying, her breasts shaking with her sobs. She buried her face in her paws and stood there sobbing hard. After a moment, she felt her father's arms around her, and then he was pressing her to his chest, stroking her mane. She was so angry! She just wanted to pummel him with her fists. But she yielded as if she'd been waiting for this all along, as if she'd been waiting for her father's protecting arms around her, the familiar old musk of his fur, his kisses on her head. When she felt his kisses, she gave away more brokenly to crying.
"What is it, Sugar?" Loryn whispered anxiously.
Sugar. Lea's parents often told her that when she was born she hadn't a black stripe on her body: she'd been all white. And her father used to cradle her by the fire, calling her his little lump of sugar. And though Lea's black stripes had started to develop, the nickname had stuck, her father said, because she was as sweet as her newborn fur had been white.
"Dad, I . . ." Lea faltered and sobbed again.
"You can tell Daddy, Sugar. Shush, now. What is it?"
Lea sniffed. "Mom and I kind of got in an argument . . ."
"What else is new?" said Loryn bitterly under his breath.
"I came home to find her crying by the fire -- Dad, she's so miserable without you! Everyday she always looks like that. I get sick of it! I wanted to get away from her. So I told her I was going to get firewood. She told me not to go and I shouted at her that we'd have some if she'd just -- just let you bring it to us like you offered."
"Bet she didn't like that," said Loryn with a light chuckle.
"She said not to mention you and threatened to whip me, so I went anyway."
"And then I whipped you," said Loryn, brushing away one of Lea's tears with his thumb.
Lea heard the miserable tone in her father's voice and looked up at him quickly: the black eyes were twice as sad as before.
"So it's all my fault," Loryn whispered, gazing off. "Because I'm a bad father."
Despite her misery and anger, Lea burst out, "No!"
Loryn only smiled at her sadly and smoothed down her mane. "My little girl. You must've been so hurt when your father left you." He kissed Lea on the forehead and she closed her eyes, sniffling quietly.
"But no matter how angry you are at us, you mustn't go out into the forest again. Especially not alone. Do you understand that? Never again, Lea!" Loryn squeezed his daughter tightly in his arms as if in earnest, and Lea promised at once never to enter the forest again.
"Not until the mating season," her father told her, "and if it was up to me, your first mating season wouldn't be until you were thirty."
Lea laughed in spite of herself.
"Yes, that's better. Smile," said her father, pulling back to look down at her. "So beautiful. Just like your mother. Beautiful shouldn't be sad, hmm?" He playfully nudged her chin.
Lea was saddened when Loryn turned away and took up his spear. It had been such a long time since she'd spent time with her father like this. She missed him desperately and said so as they started the walk to Kira's hut.
"I know," Loryn told her with a sad smile, his spear resting on his shoulder. "I missed seeing my little girl too."
"I wish you'd just get back together with Mom."
"I wish it was that simple, Sugar. I wish it was that simple."
"Why isn't it simple?" Lea demanded.
Loryn heaved a sigh and glanced sideways at his daughter. He wished he could make her understand.
"I can't just tell your mother I'm sorry and expect all her pain to go away."
"She'd be in less pain if you were there holding her."
"Perhaps. But . . . we both know she's not going to admit that."
Lea had no retort. Her father was right, of course. The moment Loryn entered the hut with Lea, Kira was going to try and make him leave. Kira was like a vicious beast every time Loryn came around to see his daughter, flashing her fangs, tossing her mane, growling out a cruel retort when Loryn had only spoken a civil word to her. And Lea would hurry from the hut and wait for her father outside. She could never stand it when Kira was so cruel to Loryn.
They came at last to Kira's hut, and when they entered, Kira was pacing up and down the room. When she saw them, she spun around, her eyes alight in her rage.
"Where the hell have you been, Lea?" Kira demanded. She marched toward her daughter, who bowed her head. "I've been looking all over this village frantic that something had happened. Well!"
"Go to your room, Lea," Loryn whispered.
Kira let out a shrill cry of indignation when this soft command was given and obeyed. Lea walked past her mother, then broke into a sprint and ran miserably behind the curtain. Kira turned burning eyes on her ex-husband.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" she demanded. "I wasn't through talking to her --"
"She ran off into the forest. I found her there. I whipped her. It's been dealt with."
"She went into the --! After I told her not to!" Kira whirled and yelled at the curtain, "Well, you've set your last foot outside of this hut, young lady!"
"Kira?"
"Get out of here, Loryn," Kira snapped, pulling her shawl tight around her breasts. "You don't live here anymore."
"We need to talk."
"No . . . we don't," said Kira darkly. She went to the fire, which was dwindling badly, and tossed a miserable twig on it, the last of their firewood.
"Yes, we do! She ran away to the forest because of us, Kira!"
Kira looked at Loryn with wide eyes and didn't know what to say.
"That's right," continued Loryn. "She said you're always miserable, and she was sick of seeing you that way, so she ran away."
Kira bowed her head and turned away, touching her fingers to her lips as if she couldn't believe it. She heard Loryn come up behind her, and with him standing so close for the first time in a long time, she squeezed her eyes shut -- squeezed them shut as if she could block out his enticing musk, as if she could block out the brush of his fur, his breath on her mane. He put a timid paw on her arm, and a tear escaped over her white cheek.
"And you're miserable because I'm not here, aren't you? I did this. I caused you this pain."
Kira snatched her arm from Loryn's grasp, and he dropped his paw, stung by her anger.
"How could you come back here with that boy? With that little pup who hadn't even had a mating season yet! How can you love him and at the same time claim to love me?"
"Just because I love Eno it doesn't mean we can't love each other. I love you, Kira! Goddamn it -- I've always loved you!"
Kira gave a little cry of shock when Loryn wrenched her around.
"And you still love me!" he said, peering shrewdly into her eyes. He held her shoulders as he studied her and saw that she was visibly trembling.
Kira struggled against him until he had her pressed against the wall.
"I can't love a male who -- who can't love me and only me!" she growled, the tears streaming down her face. She twisted and fought but Loryn would not let go. "Why couldn't you just -- just be mine!" she sobbed.
"I don't belong to you, Kira! I'm not a pretty bauble you can put in your mane!" Loryn snarled back, struggling to hold her still against the wall.
"That's your problem, Loryn!" Kira screamed. "You could never belong to anyone!"
They struggled wildly, Kira twisting to get away and Loryn holding her against the wall so that she could not escape, cursing her under his breath, begging for her to just stay and listen. Kira eventually struggled so hard that her shawl fell free of her breasts. They both fell still as her pearly white breasts stood silhouetted in the gloomy hut. The pink nipples were jutting with her obvious arousal and seeing Loryn's eyes travel over them, Kira blushed prettily. She saw Loryn's cock stand erect at this sudden exposure, and she trembled, out of breath. Loryn's paws smoothed up her shoulders, massaging that tender flesh near her collarbone, and then before either of them knew what was happening, Loryn lifted Kira clear off her feet and down onto his cock.
Kira arched her back against the wall and let out a scream, but Loryn's tongue at once filled her mouth, hungry and wet and as wild as his thrusts into her. He felt her walls closing tight around him, felt how wet and gushing they were, and knew she had been aroused by the mere sight of him when he'd come in with Lea. He ran his paws all over her body, up and down her back, and then his paws cupped her buttocks and he thrust into her hard and fast. Kira's cries were muffled behind his kisses, but they were cries of ecstasy, and when he pulled his lips away to suckle hungrily at her breasts, she confessed breathlessly that she loved him, that she had missed him all these years, that she had never lain with another male for want of him.
"I can tell," Loryn panted in her ear. "You're as tight as you were during the mating season."
Kira fell forward against Loryn, her arms around his neck, and breathed into his ear that she wanted it harder and faster. Loryn complied, remarking that he'd do anything for those bright eyes. His grunts as he forced his way inside of her aroused her all the more, the overwhelming scent of his musk, his muscles flexing against her as he moved -- all of this sent her into heights of pleasure she could never remember knowing. She loved him, damn him! In spite of everything, she loved him. And she had missed his body and his voice and his eyes -- she had missed his jokes and the loving way he used to cuddle her in bed. She had missed him so much! And she breathlessly confessed all this as he banged his powerful body against her, she breathlessly confessed all this and closed her mouth over his.
When it was over and their passion spent, Loryn knelt heavily on the sitting furs stretched near the fire and laid Kira down, then laid beside her. Kira snuggled into his arms at once, those big burly arms she had missed so terribly. And Loryn kissed her head and held her close.
"That . . ." panted Loryn, "was . . . delicious." He leaned down and purred into Kira's ear, to which she giggled. "I haven't touched a tit since you kicked me out, Kira. I think when I saw yours sitting there so perky, just waiting for me, I snapped."
Loryn leaned over and buried his face in her neck, giving a mock growl that made her tingle as his big paw closed over one of her breasts. She moaned a little as he squeezed and rotated it, then he leaned down and gave the jutting nipple a little suck.
"Magnificent," Loryn whispered. "You always had magnificent breasts. So big and so blushing. And no matter how the years go by, they just keep standing." He gave her breasts a playful slap and watched them smack each other.
"I never dreamed you missed being with me," Kira whispered.
"What are you talking about?"
"I thought you liked males."
"I do. But I like females too. You thought all these years I was just pretending? If I'm not attracted, Kira, it stays down. I've never been able to fake an erection -- even just by thinking of someone else."
"There are many males who can."
Loryn snorted. "I'm not many males."
"So . . . does this mean you're coming back to me?" Kira whispered, gazing up at him.
"Do you want me to?"
"Loryn!"
Loryn chuckled. "I know you do, Kira. I'm just teasing. Of course I want to be with you. I've thought of nothing else for years. But, Kira . . . I'm not going to stop fucking males. And I'm not going to stop falling in love with them either."
"I wouldn't care if you fucked them if you just didn't love them."
"But I can't help loving them. It's not that wonderfully simple."
"Nothing ever is with you, Loryn."
"What if I told you that even before we met that day, I was in love with Kel?"
"Kel?" said Kira in wonder.
"What would you say then?"
"I . . . I don't know!" said Kira slowly. "I like Kel. He's a good male and he makes Aliona very happy. Is -- is he in love with you?"
"I should hope so! Or else those words whispered in my ear were very sweet and tempting lies."
"How long have you loved each other?"
"Since we were pups."
Kira's eyes grew round and sad. "And I've loved you since we were pups. You just didn't know it. I had the biggest crush on you."
"And look at you now, here in my arms." Loryn pulled Kira close and started kissing on her face and neck.
"Loryn?"
"Mmm?"
"I don't care if you love Kel -- but please don't be with Eno! Anyone but Eno."
Loryn halted, his ears pricking forward. "Why?" he said sharply, watching Kira.
Kira glowered. "He looks at Lea like -- you know . . ."
"Like he wants to fuck her," finished Loryn for her. "Yes, Eno is a lusty little shit. Some of the things he did to Aliona . . . But I never knew he was thinking about Lea. I'll confront him about it."
"Is that all?"
"What, you want me to rip his dick off and feed it to him?"
Kira giggled. "No! Loryn, are you coming back to me!"
Loryn grinned mischievously and pulled Kira on top of him in response, showering her neck and breasts with such rapid, wet kisses that she started giggling uncontrollably, held suspended in Loryn's big paws.
Sitting in her room listening, Lea grinned.
