New Beginnings Chp 6
#7 of New Beginnings
Hey everyone, I'm sorry about this one being two weeks later than I said I would put it up. Shit happens. Also I wont put up another one until the earliest of the 12. I might be suffering some Jet-Lag, so will probably be later.
The sun rose and shined brightly. Mark leaned up from his bed and made a nice, wide stretch. He got up, grabbed a towel, and headed to the bathroom. He got to the bathroom only to see the door closed. 'Not this again.'
"Eri-!"
The door swung open and Eric was startled by his brother. "What? You don't need to yell."
"You're smiling. Why are you in such a good mood? Yesterday you were angry and mean. What's going on?" He questioned his older brother.
"What exactly do you mean?"
"I mean, I know you and Lucas have been fighting. Have you guys made up or something? Are you going to go back to normal or...?"
"How did you...? You know what, never mind. Why do you care?"
"Maybe because I like to pry into your personal life? Yep, that's it."
"Do you ever have anything better to do? We are four years older than you, associate with people your age."
"...You do know four years is not that much, right?
"Depends..."
"Huh?"
"It depends..."
"It depends? It doesn't depend on anything. Four years is not that much of a difference."
"It's a matter of opinion. Anyway, yeah we did and we're going to go to Filanzzi's after school with someone."
"Can I come?"
"No."
"Please?"
"Still no."
"I'll tell mom about your condom horde..."
"You little... Fine. You can come."
"Sweet! So who is this other person who's gonna be there?"
"A guy named Max Garth, no, Grath. Max Grath."
"I take it you don't know him? Given that you're not sure of his last name."
"No I don't. So you better not embarrass us, especially me."
"I just want free food."
"Of course you do. Well, I have to go, so..."
"Yeah, move. I'm gonna take a shower."
"'Kay."
Eric stepped out of the bathroom and went to his room. Mark closed the bathroom door behind him and went on to take a shower.
Eric and Mark got to school at their usual time, met friends, and went to class. During lunch Mark went to his table. He immediately sat next the Cay, his lioness girlfriend.
"Hey Cay." He said as he threw his arm around her.
"Hey Marky." She said in response as she hugged Mark's arm. "Wanna do something after school?" Then she kissed his hand.
"What do you have in mind? My brother is taking me to Filanzzi's, but I can blow it off."
"Really?" She asked excitedly and bolted up, facing Mark. "I love that place! Can I come too? Please! Please! Please!" She pleaded.
"Filanzzi's? Hey guys, who wants to go to Filanzzi's after school?" Matt, who eavesdropped on Mark and Cay's conversation, asked the group.
They all said yes. Mark put his head into his hands. "You're so stupid Matt. How do you think we would all get there?"
"You said your brother is taking you. He can take us too."
"The car has only four seats and three of which are taken!"
"Oh, well, we can catch a bus?"
"How would we pay for it? You guys have cash?" Cay, Grant, Matt, Jess, and Sam pulled out money. "Well, I guess I'll go talk to my brother then."
Mark got up from his seat and gave Cay a quick kiss. "Be right back."
"Don't take too long." Cay said and winked at Mark as he walked away. He smiled and proceeded toward his brother.
Lucas saw Mark and waved. "Hey Mark!" He yelled across the lunch area.
"Hey Lucas." He said as he sat down next to Eric.
"So, I hear you're coming with us to Filanzzi's. That true?" Lucas questioned.
"Yeah, about that. So I was talking to my friend-"
"Your girlfriend? The one you just kissed?" Eric interrupted with a grin forming on his face.
Mark slightly blushed. "Yeah, and she wants to go, then another one of my friends was kinda listening to us and then asked everyone else if they wanted to go. Now they all want to go. That cool?"
"Do I get to meet this girl?" Eric asked and looked over to Lucas and wiggled his eyebrows. Lucas laughed silently to himself.
"I guess. If you really want to." He blushed even more.
"Great." Eric said with a grin.
"Hold up," Lucas interjected, "How many friends we talking here? Three? Four?"
"Actually, more like eight including me."
"Yeah, I can't fit that many in my car. You guys have to find some other way to get there."
"They plan on getting a bus."
"All right, cool. See you then." Lucas said.
"Bye Mark." Said Eric as he turned back to Lucas.
Mark got up and started to walk away when he stopped mid step and spun around on his heel. "Wait, how did you know she kissed me? Were you two watching me?"
Eric just looked at Lucas and they both laughed. Mark starred questioningly at them then turned back around and walked to his table, looking back a few times at the laughing pair.
Cay saw him as he was approaching. "What did your brother say?"
"He said sure." Mark said and sat down.
"I wanna meet him. What's name again?"
"Eric, and his friend, a husky is Lucas. They'll both be there and some other guy I don't know."
The bell rang signaling class to start once more. "Well, see you later Marky." She said and gave him a kiss.
"Bye Cay."
After school Mark met his friends in the parking lot. "Alright guys, so, who knows what bus to take?" Mark asked the group.
He got blank looks instead of any verbal response.
"No one knows?" More silence. "Does anyone know where it is from here?"
"I can look it up." Said Ricky. "We are living in the twenty first century."
"You do that."
"Okay." Ricky pulled out his phone and looked up where the restaurant was.
He paused what he was doing and looked up. Everyone was staring at him waiting for the information. "What?"
"Well, where is it?" Jess asked.
"Oh, we can walk there. It's just a few block away. It'll take five minutes or something."
"Then let's go." Grant said and they went off.
After a ten minute walk they got into the restaurant and sat down. "You are the WORST at judging time and distance Ricky." Sam said.
"It's not my fault you guys didn't check yourselves to make sure." He said defensively.
As they were bantering, Eric and Lucas walked in. Mark got up and went over to them. "What took you guys so long? You drove, we walked."
"You walked? That's like a ten minute walk. Are you guys stupid?" Eric said jokingly.
"Yeah, well, someone is not good at judging distance." Mark said more to himself then to Eric and Lucas.
"To answer your question, we stopped at my house get some money." Lucas said.
"Ah. So where is this guy you two are meeting here?"
"Good question, but an even better one is when are you gonna introduce us to your girlfriend?" Eric said as he pushed Mark out of the way and toward Cay.
Lucas looked at Mark and gave a shrug then took off after Eric.
Cay stood up as she saw Eric and moved toward him. "You must be Mark's girlfriend. I'm Eric, his brother, and this is my friend Lucas."
"I'm Cay. Mark has told me a lot about you."
"Really?"
"No. He actually never talks about anyone in his family. It's nice tofinally meet someone from it. I know your mom works at the school, but I don't take any of her classes."
"It's nice to meet you too. You wanna know something funny about Mark? Since as long as I can remember, he has talked to himself every morning in the mirror like he is talking to someone. I think he practices pick-up lines or something."
"My Marky does that?" They both started laughing and Mark's cheeks burn from embarrassment. Eric continues to try to embarrass Mark as much as he can and Lucas joins in. Mark watches them in horror as many of the things he thinks no one knows are told to his girlfriend.
In the middle of the fun, the restaurant door swings open. A tall, muscular german shepherd walks in. He has fur the color of brown sugar covering his body with black patches on his shoulders and face. He was wearing tight jeans and a black tee-shirt with a vinyl of many swirls.
Mark looked at the large dog who had all his attention focused toward Lucas. After Mark followed his gaze he nudged Eric. He whispered, "Who's he?" as Lucas took the other canine outside.
Eric turned around with a smile lingering from laughing. "Who's who?"
Mark pointed at the shepherd discreetly. "Oh, I think that's Max Grath. We were meeting him here." The two brothers moved to the window. "I wonder why Lucas hasn't introduced us yet."
"He just got here." Mark said while looking out the window and standing out of Lucas and Max's view.
"Oh, well let's not stare, Lucas is not a sideshow." Eric pushed his brother back towards his friends. He lingered by the window for a few more seconds before meeting the rest of Mark's friends.
