Chapter 23: The Investigation of Mike Anger

Day 89 continued

The female lynx continued:

The name of the subordinate is being withheld pending the final judgement which will be made by the High Evolutionary in the next day or so. In other news....

"Some one in Castle Wundagore is a spy for the rebels?! I am glad they were caught before anyone else could be injured by the constant incursions." Sorren said.

"I wonder who the spy is?" Tauren asked questioningly.

I looked at Lurie and she looked at me. We said nothing.

"Ah guys can we just have dinner?" Lurie asked.

Sorren paused the newscast and proceeded into the kitchen. Lurie, Tauren and I sat down at the high table as Sorren brought in dinner. He had made a splendid fish dinner for himself, Lurie and me and a splendid salad for Tauren. I figured dinner time in this family must be quite interesting with two carnivores and a herbivore.

"So how was your appointment with Lea this morning Alex?" Sorren asked me.

"Unbelievable." I said to the dragon looking down at my dinner plate.

"Something wrong Alex?" Tauren asked eating his salad.

"Very wrong." I responded.

"All right out with it." The bull ordered me.

Lurie looked at me then interjected:

"Lea is the spy."

Tauren and Sorren looked at each other and sounded off in unison:

"Say Wha....?"

"Yes." I nodded.

"Alex and I had quite a day. After our visit with Lea, Sir Wolf showed up and took her into custody for providing material support to the rebels." The she beast said. "Alex didn't believe that she was guilty of what she was accused of and launched his own investigation. We just got back from Castle Sevren where we interviewed Sir Wolf and Lea for the last couple hours." The she beast said to her lovers.

Tauren turned to me:

"Sounds like you have had quite a day Alex, did you find anything?"

"Only that Lea has a boyfriend she has been dating. A human who works on the outskirts of World Three. Apparently she has been seeing him for over a year now and they communicate on a daily basis. Sir Wolf concluded based on her association with him- Lea is guilty." I said to the bull. "Since the High Evolutionary is planning to sentence her, this investigation has became much more desperate." I told Sorren, Tauren and Lurie.

"If Lea isn't exonerated, she will receive the 'living death' shortly after the High Evolutionary announces his judgement. That is normally how it works." Tauren said.

"I can't allow that to happen." I said to everyone. "By the way what is the living death?"

"Suspended animation." The bull countered she will be frozen alive, aware and conscious with nothing but her thoughts and stay like that the rest of her life- not quite alive but not quite dead either. I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone."

Lady Ursa and I would one day experience the 'living death' ourselves a few days after the outing in which I found out about her secret. Believe me, the 'living death' is not fun.

"Wow, Lea a spy for the rebels." Sorren said astounded.

"She isn't!" I said to the dragon.

"Alex, I like Lea too but what if she is?" Sorren asked me.

"I don't think so- if she was it seemed to me that during my first week on Counter Earth she would have contacted the rebels to have them rescue me during one of their incursions. It didn't happen." I said to the dragon. "My impression of her apart from being hot and sexy, is that she is nothing more than a humble subject of the empire. I have to prove that she is just that, a humble subject of the empire." I replied.

"So what is next for Alex Winter's investigation?" The dragon asked me.

"Tomorrow I would like to interview Lea's boyfriend to see what he knows." I said to the dragon.

"Before we left Lea gave Alex his home address and work address; he works in the slums on the outskirts of World Three." Luire said.

"That is going to be quite dangerous!" Tauren warned me. "Absolutely not!"

"Tauren, Lea is your friend as well- if we don't do anything she is done for!" I said to the bull.

"You could be done for if you meet the wrong people down there too!" The bull countered. "...And your master would have my head on a platter if anything happened to you."

"Tauren, please there is no other way!" I pleaded.

"Love, it is ok I will go with him." Sorren replied. "Lea is my friend too and I would like to help in some way. Besides tomorrow is my day off as well and Alex and I haven't had a chance to hang out- Lurie kept him for herself today." The dragon replied winking at the 'yote girl.

"Not by choice." She responded.

Tauren thought very carefully for a minute. "Very, well. But don't do anything stupid."

"We won't." The dragon replied.

After we concluded dinner I sat at the table for the next several hours reviewing my interviews with Sir Wolf and Lea. Tauren, Sorren and Lurie finished the news report and decided to watch a documentary about the rebellion that they had stumbled on. Around 10 pm everyone started heading to bed. I hadn't noticed because I had lost track of time until Tauren grabbed my bag and came to retrieve me.

"Come on Alex it is time to rest." He said to me.

"I will be along in a minute." I told the minotaur.

"Make that now, Alex. I know you are extremely worried about Lea, we all are- but you aren't going to be of any use to her if you are tired and sleepy. You would best serve her if you are wide awake and alert tomorrow."

"You're right." I said meekly getting up from the table. I grabbed my PDA just as the bull picked me up and threw me over his shoulder and carried my bag in his opposite paw.

"What? What's this?" I stammered.

"For old time's sake." The bull snickered as he carried me up the staircase.

On the second floor of Tauren's lair there were three rooms. I thought they were three separate bedrooms for Tauren, Sorren and Lurie, but I was wrong- very wrong. Tauren showed me each of them. The first was the bathroom, the second was the shower room which had one big stall with two shower heads and the last room was the bedroom.

"Tauren you only have one bedroom?" I asked the bull.

"Yes, the he beast replied you will be sleeping with us."

"US?! Wait a minute, I understand the beastial custom of communal bathing- but communal sleeping?! Is this another beastial custom?"

"Yes." The bull replied. "Mine. Like communal bathing, communal sleeping symbolizes friendship, affection and promotes socialization- a lot of socialization." The bull said as he placed my bag on the floor as we entered the room.

That night I didn't get to snuggle with my fierce ursine mistress but I did get to share a freaking huge bed with a minotaur and his lovers- a dragon and coyote.

When we entered the bedroom Lurie was on the left side of the bed reading something- maybe it was a novel or news article. That I wasn't sure. But she was in her undergarments which were white- they matched the color of the bedsheets. Sorren was on the right side of the bed also reading he was in his undergarments as well. Tauren dropped me at the foot of the bed while he removed his tunic and climbed into the bed stark naked!

(That shameless bull!)

He climbed into the bed's center and placed his right arm around Lurie pulling the coyote to his side and his left arm around Sorren pulling the dragon to his other side.

Seeing that site in front of my eyes I was REALLY intimated. I was seeing Tauren and his family quite intimately. There was a lot a love in that room and I think all present wanted me to be part of it.

Quickly I changed into my undergarments and crawled into bed next to Lurie who had sinister machinations. No sooner had I climbed into her side of the bed- she broke from her lover's embrace grabbed me and lifted me over her to rest on Tauren's belly as the bull resumed embracing his lovers.

"Uh Tauren?" I asked.

"Yes Alex?" The bull responded.

"Are we going to sleep like this?"

"No Alex. First, relax you are among friends are you not?" I nodded. "Then quit being intimidated. We are simply enjoying each others company that is all." The bull said gently.

"Nothing enriches our lives more than the creatures that share it with us. Always remember that Alex." Sorren chided.

With that I did relax. I hugged The bull, the dragon and coyote. "Tauren, Sorren and Lurie thank for your kindness, compassion, generosity and most of all your friendship. I am more than blessed to have dear, dear friends like you."

I didn't realize it at that moment, but in time the trio would become to me the older siblings I wished I had growing up but never did. Together we would explore and experience a lot of the popular culture of Counter Earth and have a great deal of fun doing it. Ah, so many memories.

Tauren and Sorren petted me on my head.

"You are welcome Alex. The same goes for us as well." Sorren said.

"So what positions do you sleep in when you sleep with Lady Ursa?" Tauren asked.

"Do you sleep face to face like this?" Sorren asked as he hugged Tauren and Tauren hugged him back their abdomens touching as well as their heads.

My checks turned red at the two's intimacy.

"Or maybe like this?" Tauren said turning to face away from his dragon while Sorren wrapped his arms around the bull and pulled him in close to nuzzle the back of his neck and to touch Tauren's butt with his groin.

"Or maybe like this?" Sorren said laying on his back, moving Tauren into a seating position on his chest which gave him an excellent view of his lover's genitals.

At that point I turned a deep shade of red.

"Aw this is very touching." Lurie said. "Tauren, Sorren if you would excuse us- this little human has a debt he needs to continue to repay to his dear dear friend." Luire said pulling me toward her much to the bull and dragon's amusement.

Once she had done so, Lurie rolled over to her right side with her back to me. "You can continue that massage you owe me Alex."

"Yes ma'am" I replied.

The dragon had won.

"Lurie, since you two are bonding so well, could you perhaps look after Alex tonight. I would but my paws are busy right now." Sorren said snickering. "...and that ain't no bull!"

Now he had me doing it.

Sighing Lurie. Stopped her moaning and rolled over on her left side to face me. She was a very lovely female. Not as hot as Lea, now. But pretty to look at and easy on the eyes. I think I understood why Tauren and Sorren loved her.

"Are they like this every night?" I asked the 'yote girl snuggling me.

"Every night. Normally I am in the thick of it too. If I was a dragon or a cow I would have had multiple, multiple offspring by now. But regardless of how it looks, it is a great way to end the day especially if you have had a very rough one at work. Knowing that you have someone who loves and cares about you and your well being makes that day not as bad."

Lurie gently rubbed her chin against my head.

"Alex, do you and your mistress...?"

"Every morning." I told the curious coyote. "And sometimes before we go to bed as well. My mistress is one fantastic lay and I miss her horribly when she is away."

"So are MY boys." The she beast responded.

As Lurie and I drifted to off to sleep, I realized that in the commotion of the day's, events- I hadn't had time to worry about Lady Ursa- her well being and if she was safe. I hoped and prayed that she was, where ever she was.

Sometime during the night I was awakened by Lurie. She was moaning softly while she still had me in her embrace. But there was something more- a very gentle rocking motion while she still embraced me. I gently rubbed the she beast on her head.

"Lurie is everything ok?"

I couldn't be sure but judging by the evidence, the bull sometime during the night switched positions, got behind Lurie and I and made love to his coyote girl. Day 90

Lurie was sleeping on Tauren's right shoulder and Sorren was on his left. Some how during the night we all shifted positions again to wake up snuggling our bull. Thinking back, that was another first for me- snuggling a minotaur.

"Is it morning already?!" Lurie whined. "Damn, I have to go to work."

"The castle isn't going to run its self." Tauren said yawning.

"It is a shame you don't have the day off- oh wait you did, that was yesterday!" Sorren chided.

"Screw you!" Lurie barked at Sorren.

"Not yet, but soon my love." Sorren replied snarkly.

"Speaking of screwing..." Tauren said sniffing the room.

"What's wrong love?" Sorren asked.

"Someone was deprived of their release last night- let's see, I came, then you came and later Lurie and I came- the only one who didn't was Alex...."

(Ulp!!)

Hearing that I looked up at the minotaur. "Hey thanks for your concern, but I am already spoken for...."

"Now, now Alex just because you are on a diet doesn't mean you can't look at the menu!" The bull teased. "Besides- we all have to clean up anyway what's one more?"

With that Tauren rolled me on to my back while I was still on his torso and hugged me with those strong arms of his.

"Lurie, Sorren I think our guest needs a proper 'good morning greeting' from his dear dear friends."

"I think we can manage dear." Lurie said to the bull grabbing my scrotum. Meanwhile Sorren produced a bottle of lube and rubbed its contents up and down my penis.

We started to clean the room. Lurie removed the covering from the bed. Tauren started washing the walls. when he did, I noticed that his gait was weird. "See that didn't take long when we worked together." The bull said.

"SORREN!!" Lurie and Tauren responded in unison.

Tauren, Sorren and Lurie all looked at me curiously.

"Come we will tell you." Sorren said guiding me to the shower room.

Tauren's shower was different from the one he had near the holding center. Unlike that one, this one had two stalls and two shower heads enough for four individuals to share and bathe comfortably.

Tauren and Lurie took the first stall and proceeded to apply the foam like soap to each other and to um... throughly clean the jizz from their fur and respective love tunnels. Sorren and I took the second stall adjacent to the first and started bathing as well.

"So Sorren let's hear this story about how the three of you met." I said as I moved to his back from his wingless shoulders.

"Well there really isn't much too it Alex.... Tauren, Lurie and I met during the Giant Cloud incident about two seasons ago."

"Has it been that long?" Tauren asked.

"That sounds about right." Lurie interjected.

I looked at my companions. "What was the Giant Cloud incident?" I asked the trio.

"It was a bizarre weather phenomenon that happened in the fall." Lurie said. "You probably know why our master built the five cities where he did." I nodded my head. "The locations he chose were the most stable climatically, geologically and afforded this civilization the best opportunity to thrive. In short the weather was favorable all seasons and there weren't any natural disasters to threaten this civilization unlike the rest of the planet- until that day." The she beast said.

Tauren continued the tale "...that afternoon two seasons ago a huge cloud of what looked like dust two miles high and twenty miles long made its way from north to south. As it moved, it engulfed Worlds One through Five. No one knew where the cloud came from or how it formed. The bizarre thing was that not only did it cover the five cites, it knocked out communications and power everywhere, bringing the civilization to a grinding halt. Vehicles fell from the sky and many were injured. It was days before everything was restored."

Sorren picked up the tale "...residents called it the Giant Cloud, Phantom Cascade and the day of ruin because it looked like a giant spectral blob."

"It sounds like that thing was monstrous." I said as I lathered the dragon's rump and tail. "So you guys met during the height of this?"

"Yes, Alex. That day I was preparing a lunch special at the cafeteria when the power went out. The halls of the castle went dark. I had gone to get some supplies from the loading dock and took a wrong turn and wound up in a storage closet. Where I ran into Lurie...." The dragon said.

"During the outage, I was combing the corridors looking for an electrical closet to try to troubleshoot the power outage and I wound up in the same storage closet with Sorren." Lurie said. "The problem with the closet was that the inner release handle was broken and the door automatically shut once you were inside. So you were trapped until someone let you out. When Sorren entered the closet the door automatically shut trapping us in there."

I turned to Tauren who was gently lathering Lurie's breasts.

"So when did Tauren get involved?"

"He walked into the closet shortly after I arrived." Sorren said. "He was looking for portable lighting units. When we all became trapped together."

"Tauren honey?" Lurie asked.

"Hmm?" The bull responded.

"Is Sorren's account of the story correct?"

Tauren coughed. "Um yes, that Is correct. I was looking for additional lighting when I entered the closet and became trapped with Sorren and Lurie. We ended up stuck in that closet for two days before we were found." The bull told me.

"That must be a huge closet." I recounted to the bull.

"It is, anyway during our 'captivity' we got to talking and learned we all had similar likes and shared common interests and became good friends from the experience. I discovered that Sorren and Lurie were living in apartments in World One. Since we all worked in the castle, I offered to let them move in with me- eliminate their daily commute and share expenses. Lurie accepted and moved in several months later. Two months after that, so did Sorren. During our time together as roommates we became very close friends and then one night we became even more than that. It has been great ever since. I love these two very very much and I am truly blessed to have them in my life." The bull said I as I moved to lather Sorren's chest and crotch area. Paying particular attention to his genitals as he had mine.

"How long have you lived together?"

"It has been about a season and a half." Lurie said to me as she started the shower. "We all met each other because of the Giant Cloud and that storage closet."

As a odd coincidence, it is in this same storage closet that I am in now presently writing this journal recounting to you, my time living among the beastials in the High Evolutionary's empire.

Tauren said no one ever figured out exactly where the Giant Cloud had come from. I didn't know it at the time but the trios' innocuous story was a historic reveal; it was the first domino in a series of dominos to fall as the empire and this civilization marched toward ruin.

Some three years later, the five cities would again be visited by another Giant Cloud much larger than the one Tauren, Lurie and Sorren experienced. It would smother the five cities one by one killing many, possessing and enslaving the rest, ending the empire and causing the fall of this civilization. On that day I would find myself hiding in a closet at the remains of the castle writing in a journal as I awaited for my own end. Listen to me babbling. I am not sure how much time I have left before what ever destroyed Counter Earth finds me in here and I have so much more to tell.

We successfully finished showering and Lurie and Tauren successfully removed the 'remnants' from the night's activities from their nether regions. While we were drying off Lurie asked myself and Sorren what was on the agenda for the day.

Sorren placed his arm around me- "I think we could hang out today and do guy stuff!"

"I would love to explore World Three." I told the dragon. "But that would have to wait until we interview Lea's boyfriend."

"Sorren," Lurie warned. "Since you two are headed to the 'basement' of World Three- the slum area you both better blend in as much as possible you do not want to draw attention to yourselves."

"We can handle that love." The dragon responded.

After drying off, Tauren put on his 'work clothes'. Like usual he was shirtless and near naked save only for his skirt-like tunic which managed to cover his unmentionables. I swear only minotaurs can successfully pull that look off.

Lurie put on her standard navy blue maintenance uniform it complemented her figure nicely. Sorren and I dressed in slacks and teeshirts- street clothes to readily blend in with the human population. I did anyway. Sorren's tail and horns easily conveyed that he was not human. If he had wings it would have further complicated things.

During breakfast the trio finished telling me the Giant Cloud story. Tauren told me that thankfully no one had died in the incident, but it took some time to get everything back up and running. Despite appearing to be a freak incident, it hasn't happened since. If it never happened again it would be too soon for him.

"Well, I better get going." Lurie said getting up from the high table. "My commute is murder."

"How long does it take you to get to work?" I asked. "Ten minutes. Tauren and Sorren have a five minute commute." The she beast replied.

Lurie kissed Tauren and then Sorren as she prepared to depart. I puckered up to get ready for mine but she only gave me a punch to the shoulder and a then hug for my efforts. "Have a good day everyone." With that she left.

"I better get going too." Tauren said as he gave Sorren a kiss on his forehead and me a pat on the shoulder. "Now I want you two to contact me when you arrive at World Three and at each and every location you visit on its outskirts."

Tauren looked at us sternly. "Sorren look out for Alex and keep him safe he is not familiar with the slums or what can happen there. Above all don't do anything stupid."

"I won't love." The dragon said to the bull. As he departed.

"I guess we should get going too." I said turning to Sorren- "But exactly how do we get to World Three?"

Sorren went to the view screen and pulled up a shuttle schedule.

"This one here. It leaves in 20 minutes. We have just enough time to plot out our course, pack some supplies and make that shuttle.

We caught the shuttle from Castle Wundagore at 8:20 am and arrived at World Three around 9:20 am. Aboard the shuttle were various furries err... beastials on their morning commute- canines, felines, rabbits and even a boar who exchanged curious looks seeing a human traveling with a dragon. While on the transport Sorren and I studied the our map of World Three.

The shuttle arrived at the center of the city which to my surprise was built above the slum area where we were traveling to- quite a different design from the cities I had seen.

"I can see why the slums are called the basement." I said to Sorren.

"The city was built above the remnants of the human development. So every day the second class citizens can look up to see the privileged citizens go about their daily lives in splendor, opulence and decadence while they are mired in squalor and misery." The dragon told me. "This way."

We entered the big building where the shuttle had dropped us off- oddly called the City Center and made our way to the ground floor. Exiting the ground floor brought reality clearly into view. The basement looked exactly like the streets I had been roaming on Gaia with the exception that they are above ground.

Mike Anger lived in an apartment above boxing gym right next to the City Center. That was our first stop. We made our way into the building only to find that he was not home.

"He must be at the office." I said to the dragon as we started to leave.

On our way out of the building Sorren took a quick peak inside the gym to watch a few sparing matches taking place between some of the patrons.

"Barbaric." He said under his breath.

On our walk to Mike Anger's office, we passed burnt out buildings, abandoned buildings block after block after block.

After about five blocks, it changed- we approached an area that looked like it was in the midst of some sort of urban renewal- newer looking buildings, houses and shops and store fronts. Right next to a bunch of shops was our destination- a free standing medical clinic.

Sorren used his communicator to contact Tauren to tell him that we had arrived at our destination. The bull was mostly solemn when he told us to be careful. Sorren assured the bull we would be.

Upon entering the front door we saw a clean, neatly organized waiting room, with a receptionist and several patients waiting their turn to see the healer on site. We approached the middle aged receptionist at the front desk.

"May I help you?" She asked.

"Yes, my name in Alex Winter. My associate and I are here conducting an investigation."

"Reservations?" The receptionist asked.

"Yes, but we are here anyway." Sorren snickered.

(Sorren!!)

"I need to speak with one Mike Anger. Is he available?" I asked.

The receptionist checked the schedule. "He is free right now for the next 40 minutes or so one of his appointments canceled. I will page him for you."

Sorren and I sat in the waiting room to wait for Mr. Anger's arrival. This time around it was Sorren's turn to receive the curious glares from the patients in the clinic.

"Hey look mommy A dwagon!" A child called out. I looked at Sorren.

"I guess you didn't blend in too well..." I whispered to Sorren.

The child- a girl left her chair she was seated in and approached Sorren.

"Are you a fire breathing dragon she asked curiously?"

"Only if provoked sweetie." Sorren responded gently.

(Oh geez!)

"What he means is that he is quite gentle and very tolerant of species not his own." I chimed in.

"Suzie, don't provoke the dragon! Now come back over here and sit down." The child's mother ordered.

"Aren't you out of your area buddy?" A elderly man sitting next to me asked Sorren.

"Exactly what is OUR area?" I said sternly to the man.

"Beastials shouldn't be down here." The man replied- "It could cause a riot."

I was about to respond, but just then the door opened. It was the man of the hour Mike Anger.

"Hello may I help you?" He asked.

Mr. Anger was a striking man in his 30s, Five feet five inches tall with blond hair, green eyes, clean shaven and well manicured. It looked like he cared a lot about his appearance.

"Mr. Anger, I am Alex Winter, this is my friend Sorren we would like to ask you some questions about an close acquaintance of yours." I said.

"Ok this way."

Mr. Anger took us back to his office which looked as nicely polished as he- where to our surprise we discovered that he wasn't a healer at the clinic but its administrator.

"So what is this about?" He asked.

"Your girlfriend, a female beastial that you have been seeing." I responded.

"How long have you been together?" Sorren asked.

"About a year- we met at the World One museum." Mike said in a hush hushed tone. "Despite the taboo of humans associating with beastials- she was quite the looker too, perky, sexy, smart and with a great personality. We hit it off right from the start. Soon we would meet at performances- ballets, opera and musicals. I was soon calling her every day to see how she was doing and she would do the same for me. We even had pet names for each other."

"Like what?" I asked.

"Well I called her my lioness and she referred to me as her lion." Mr. Anger replied.

"Did she ever tell you what she did for a living?" I asked The man.

"Well, yeah he responded she worked as a healer and lab assistant in Wundagore castle. Is there something wrong?"

"There is Mr. Anger two days ago, your girlfriend was arrested and charged with spying against the empire and providing material support to the resistance. She is scheduled to be judged and punished in the next day or so."

He was shocked.

"That explains why I haven't been able to reach her..." He said aghast. "Lea."

"We are conducting our own investigation to try to clear her name." Sorren interjected.

"Anything information you can provide us with would be of great assistance."

"Of, of course I will do anything to save my Lea.. But let's not talk here."

Mr. Anger scribbled an address on a sheet of paper.

"Can we meet here around noon? I will answer any and all of your questions." He said handing us the paper. "It is a private and undisclosed location where we can talk without the fear of being eavesdropped."

Sorren and I looked at each other. We had be interviewing Mr. Anger for about 45 minutes.

"Ok we will see you there at noon." I said.

Sorren and I decided to have lunch at a local diner. Between odd looks from the patrons and staff, we reviewed our recent conversation and plotted our way to the meeting location.

"What do you think?" I asked Sorren.

"He seemed to genuinely care about Lea and her well being, I didn't sense he was lying about anything."

"But why did he request us to go to a second location?" I asked the dragon.

"Here on Counter Earth it is somewhat taboo for humans to date beastials." Sorren said.

"But beastials dating humans is not as taboo- it is tolerated- but you will still receive weird stares and looks. I suspect that as administrator of the health center he didn't want his subordinates to find out about his personal life."

We made our way to the rendezvous location right at noon. Sorren and I were surprised to see that it was a old wearhouse several blocks from the diner we had eaten at. Sorren contacted Tauren once more to tell the worried bull that we were safe and to stop worrying.

We rang the doorbell at the front entrance. We were met by a young security guard who escorted us to a abandoned loading dock inside of the building. I noticed that the wearhouse appeared to be about twenty years old- not run down just old.

"Wait here." The security guard ordered us. He quickly departed and locked the door to Sorren and my amazement.

Sorren looked around and then looked at me. "Dammit, it's a trap Alex! I smell humans approaching our area, many of them!"

"What? How? I didn't sense any danger Sorren!"

The dragon looked me bluntly in the eye. "You are a partial clairvoyant are you not?!" I nodded. "This must be the partial part...." He said condescendingly.

Mike Anger had set us up and Tauren was absolutely 1000% right we would be in big trouble if we headed to the slums and ran into the wrong people. We did.
