Xaldath: King of the Gods (Prologue)
This is a kaiju-style story that I've been working on for the past month or so. Most of it is rampaging, but there will be story elements of situations post rampage. I hope this can be enjoyed by the users here. This is only the prologue and more will come soon if there is enough interest.
Xaldath: King of the Gods
Prologue It was late at night in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. A large private cruise ship owned by the president of the United States was out in the sea guarded by a number of battleships armed with mounted guns. Being a man of such high power meant that they had to protect him at all costs. Especially being in the middle of nowhere in the dark. They had enough tools to take out even the most hidden of terrorists who would dare harm the president. This was the president's tenth wedding anniversary with his wife, and he was using the people's money to throw it. No one knew, except for the people in office. This man, Robert Davidson Jr., was as evil as they came. There were a number of reasons why he was so corrupt, but it is a virtual laundry list that would go on forever. He was all alone with no one but his personal guard and congress to watch. They were unaware of what would happen tonight. They were about to anger a god. Inside of the cruise ship, filled with wood paneling, elegant curtains and glass chandeliers and a romantic DJ playing soft, love songs as they all awaited the married couple coming down. Numerous officials, dressed in suits, and gowns for the women, watched as a light shined on the stairs leading into the party hall "Ladies and gentlemen," the DJ, a man with short, black hair wearing a gray vest and a white dress shirt said. "Introducing, President of the United States of America. President Robert Davidson and his wife, Judy!" The couple came down together. Robert was a man with brown hair flattened out and curled forward and up. He wore a black business suit like the rest of them and black slacks and black dress shoes. His wife was in a white dress skirt and matching suit up above as well as long, black heels and brown stockings. She had long, blonde hair tied in a single ponytail. The two were coming down to the podium in the center with a lone table to the left. It was time for their big ceremony. The two were seated, but the husband stood up and kissed his wife on the cheek, causing her to blush. He went to the podium and began to make his speech. "Ladies, gentlemen, fellow members of congress and house representatives here tonight. Tonight, is my tenth wedding anniversary with beautiful Judy here. I am honored that so many members of my administration came out to see this wonderful milestone with me." There were some officials who clapped, while some weren't thrilled to be here. In fact, some didn't like that he was doing this with taxpayer money at all. "I met my wife in San Francisco once. We were both studying law at SFU, and neither of us knew we would ever be dating, much less be married. It wasn't until she offered for a single lunch together at a little known club as college students that our love was set in motion. After all, it was fate that brought the two of us together. My youngest brother couldn't be here, though, as he was too busy working on his archaeological project. It's a shame, but work has to come first." The speech went on for several minutes. It was quite a while before they got onto the big portion of the party, which was the big row of food. Outside, two guards were relaxing, seeing no major threats approaching them. One man in a blue naval uniform with short, brown hair yawned as he wondered what the point of all of this was. "This is so boring," the soldier said. "Yeah, but what else can we do, Ted?" another soldier with short, blonde hair replied. "We're stuck here for three goddamn hours." "I get that we're dealing with a few bad apples in the world, but why would anyone come after us? We're just as bad as any of them are." "Don't let the commander hear you say that!" "Whatever. I just hope that we survive the night." He looked out into the ocean and saw something. "What is that?" The other officer, named Jay, looked out and wondered what he was looking at. It was a strange growth in the ocean, just bobbing up and down. It was causing a large wave that rocked their battleships. The two were amazed that it caused such a thing. They looked at the cruise ship, wondering if they felt that. "What is that thing?" Jay asked. "Get the searchlight." He got a searchlight and shined it on the ocean. He waited for, whatever that thing was, to come out. They suddenly saw a dark blue lizard, one of an enormous size swimming around. Ted and Jay were very freaked out now. "What is that thing?!" Ted asked. "What did you see?" Jay asked. "It looked like a lizard. Some...big...lizard!" "You sure that wasn't a whale?" "I know what I saw! It was far bigger than any whale I've ever seen!" The creature continued to watch them with red eyes. It lowered itself into the ocean as they wondered what was going on. They were more concerned about their captain. If he saw what they were doing, they were going to be punished for causing alarm. Another ship was watching them, wondering what they were doing. However, they assumed that the two were fooling around when they should be keeping watch. The party inside the ship resumed as he and his wife were dancing to a soft love song by Marie Joan Thompson, a famous singer. They were slowly dancing along with other couples of the government. Robert looked at his wife and smiled. "Have I ever told you how beautiful your blue eyes are?" Robert said calmly. "Yes, my love," Judy said. "Your eyes are just as beautiful." "I have big plans for you in the morning." "I can't wait." They continued to dance happily until the DJ announced that the food was officially ready. They all gathered in a line to eat to their hearts content. However, they heard a large explosion outside and wondered if they were actually being attacked. "Everyone, remain calm!" Robert said. He looked outside to see one of the battleships burnt to a crisp and on fire. What they saw next, however, shocked everyone watching. A giant, blue, lizard tail crashed onto a battleship destroying it. The crowd watched in horror as one by one, the ten battleships were being destroyed. Robert got on his earpiece and contacted one of the navy officers. "What is going on?" Robert asked. "Respond!" "FIRE, FIRE EVERYTHING WE HAVE!!!" a masculine voice screamed with gunshots in the background. "What is going on?! Answer me!" "ABANDON SHIP!! ABAN---" An explosion occurred again and communication was lost. They wondered what they were dealing with. "I don't believe this," Robert said. One by one, each battleship was destroyed, either burnt to a crisp by a beam, or taken down by either a claw or a tail. When the last battleship was destroyed, Robert told everyone to evacuate. "Let's go, to the lifeboats everyone!" Robert ordered. They all made their way to the upper deck where the lifeboats were. Once they arrived the waves began to part as they saw something that made their jaws drop. A large shadow covered the moon and what they saw, they all wished it was a dream. It was a massive, bulky, lizardlike monster with millions of small and large spikes on his back and a long, whipping tail. It was wide as it was large, and it was huge . If there was any comparison to his size, his feet were touching the ocean floor, and he was several thousand feet above the water. A rough estimate would be fifteen thousand feet. "Oh...my...god!" Robert said in shock. Whoever was on the ship shot at the beast, but not even a flinch was had. The monster raised his hand into the sky and slammed onto the ship, destroying everyone and everything on it. Everyone was unconscious, but the beast didn't care. He began to shrink down in size and returned to the ocean. Robert suddenly came up from underwater and saw that everyone around him was covered in blood and wood. His wife was completely dead. He wished this was some sort of horrible nightmare that he could just wake up from. He appeared out of the water and tried to call for help. No one was responding. He was in the middle of the ocean on a plank in cold water, trapped with no way out. He tried to swim back to shore, since he couldn't have gone too far. What this creature was none of them knew. A better question would be how this creature could even exist in their world. Stories of giants and kaiju were simply hollywood magic. An actual beast in this world was not only unreal, it should be impossible. He did know one thing, though. That beast had to be stopped before the entire world was doomed.
