Chapter 2 â€" Bullet for my Valentine

The boys were gone, almost back to the base when Alex suddenly let out a roar which sounded more like a scream.

"Alex, what's wrong?" Skye asked, still carrying the massive roll of wire.

"I don't know, it... it's just that whenever I breathe in is killing me, something wrong." Alex panicked.

"Evan, I'm just going to teleport us the rest of the way, we need to stop now!" Skye shouted, closing his eyes, and focusing completely on his task.

A few seconds later the four of them slammed into the glass floor of the cave, shattering a good ten foot diameter circle to pieces.

"Alex, are you okay?" Skye asked the overexertion of his power so suddenly had left him too weak to stand; he crawled over to Alex's motionless body himself.

"I'll get the scanner!" Spencer shouted, making a dash for their med kit, already in his human form.

"Skye quickly lost his morph form, unable to hold it any longer; he lay across Alex's now much larger stomach, looking at the bullet wound in his mate's chest.

"Is that a bullet?" Skye groaned, "They're giving out those piercing bullets here too?" Skye groaned.

‘It's okay Skye; I'll see how bad it is." Spencer comforted.

Spencer turned on the scanner and held it over the wound track, the screen on the wall of the cavern lit up, revealing a deep scan/ x-ray of Alex.

The scan showed a bright silver object, lodged between Alex's fifth ribs, puncturing the bottom of his lung.

"The bullet had pierced his lung; it's defiantly not severe enough to kill him, as long as we can remove it." Spencer replied.

"I can try and remove it," Spencer replied, taking out a pair of long forceps.

"It's coming out, just hold him steady Evan." Spencer asked.

"Got it," Evan replied, pinning Alex's body to the caves floor.

Alex's body reared in pain as the bullet was removed, Evan restraining him, to keep the bullet from slipping anywhere else.

"Got it!" Spencer replied, holding up the bullet triumphantly.

Alex collapsed back to the ground, his body returning to his human form, the wound in his chest quickly closed over, his check rising once more.

"Alex! Don't' do that to me again!" Skye shouted, leaning over against his lover, their naked bodies meshing.

"I'll try not to next time, okay?" Alex grinned.

"Sure, sure, you always have to be the one with the dramatic heal right?" Skye giggled, "I love you!"

"I love you too," Alex replied, leaning over and kissing Skye briefly on the lips.

"Let's get you two up and off this glass, our human skin isn't quiet so tough." Evan suggested, helping them up.

As the other two morphed back into their human forms, several shards of glass fell out of their skin, the remainder were pulled out by each others, the wounds sealing over quickly and flawlessly.

The boys walked into their own rooms, Spencer reheating the floor of the cave, melting the glass back into a smooth sheet once more.

"When do we make our move on the factory?" Alex asked, Skye as he lay on top of their bed, composed of one of the large couch style benches of the Prowlers main deck.

"We can make a move in about a week, we should have everything up and ready by then." Skye promised.

"Really.... I think..." Alex was cut off by Skye as their lips met.

When they parted Skye replied, "Shhh... we should get some sleep, we're going to need our strength soon enough."

"Yeah you're right," Alex agreed, suddenly tired.

The two boys entertained their bodies and drifted off to sleep, the same thing happened on Spencer/Evan's bed.

"Bring him in," Joey ordered.

A few seconds later the doors to Joey's head interrogation room opened, the security guard who shot Alex stepped in, completely wrapped in casts and bandages.

"So explain to me exactly what you saw," Joey ordered.

"Well sir, it's all rather fuzzy still, I still can't remember a lot from that day, all I can tell is that there was a dragon standing in the room I responded to. The there wasn't, I honestly think I just fell and imagined the whole thing," the guard explained.

"It appears so, get some rest, and be sure to see our doctor here daily." Joey commanded.

"Aye sir is there anything else?" he asked.

"No thanks, just get some rest, we'll need you back fighting again soon." Joey replied.

"Aye," the guard replied as he left.

Joey motioned for his chief security chief to come forward, and as he did he leaned in close.

‘Make sure we set up some extra forces around the lab; give them the armor piercing stun rounds, our boys are coming home." Joey ordered.

‘Sir," the guard replied quickly keying his com and explaining everything.

"Oh and make sure we watch our forest, that's probably where they will come from, so that they don't set off radar when they drop down from light speed.

"Aye sir, we will start making adjustments now." The officer replied.

"Dismissed," Joey rebutted.

The guard offered a quick salute and left the room promptly.

"Well boys' I hope that you've learned how to fight off stun rounds, cause this time, you're mine!" Joey chuckled to himself.

Five days later; a massive thunderstorm offered Black Team, their best chances of getting into the base un-noticed, the constant thunder would easily cover their sonic boom when they dropped down from light speed. They seized this opportunity and took off for the morph facility; the mission is a stealth op, they're hoping to get in and out un-detected as the forces here are sporting the newest scale piercing shots here.

"ETA fifteen seconds," Evan warned, his eyes open this flight.

"Got it, as soon as we're free of the field full stealth, I've got the gravity scramble ready," Alex replied.

"Matter ready," Skye said as they approached the bright sunlight of natural speed and time.

There was a bright flash in the middle of the forest; a sonic boom burst from air as it sparkled with charged matter, the four dragons appearing in small clearing quickly falling back to their human forms.

"Wow, this plan is going well so far." Evan commented.

"Yeah, I..." Spencer was cut off as a bullet shaped like a blow dart impacted on a tree beside his head.

"Ambush!" Skye thought quickly.

"Open fire!" the chief shouted, as he pressed the button indicating a free-fire signal.

The boys took off running into the trees, as stun rounds ripped though the brush, tearing off small limbs of tree and their branches. The field literally was being torn apart by the shots which were all impacting several inches from the boys.

Skye was using as much of his focus to keep a small wall of hardened matter in front of them deflecting bullets as Alex used gravity to make the bullets fall short of their marks.

The boys were still under heavy fire, and as they ran they could hear the sound of helicopters in the air around them. They saw their clearing and took it. The four ran straight out to the edge of a cliff, they froze they couldn't risk morphing without being shot.

The helicopters emerged from the tree line, and took aim at the boys from the front.

"Are you ready to give up yet?" The chief boomed through the copters loud speaker.

"We're just getting started!" Skye shouted.

"Okay fair enough let's see how well you handle this." The chief's voice echoed off the cliff face.

The four helicopters in front of the boys opened fire from their turrets, sending hundreds of stun rounds at the boys.

Skye and the others thrust their hands up, which each were glowing with their own colour. Skye had hardened the matter around his hands and was deflecting the shots while Alex was causing some of them to go off course. Evan was supporting Skye and Spencer was using his manipulation of powers to help Skye deflect.

"You guys can't deflect these bullets forever you know!" the chief shouted.

"As long as you stay focused you can," Evan whispered.

The extensive strain of using their powers began to take their toll on the boys, especially when the copters switched to plasma lances to weaken them before using their stun rounds again.

"I'm losing focus, I can barely see straight," Skye warned.

"We're doing great, keep it up!" Evan encouraged.

"The barrier like air around Skye and the others began to flicker as the energy of the lancers seeped through. The rays stopped splitting once they hit the shield and began to seep through the air as streams of orange matter which swayed through the air once they passed the shield.

"Quickly before they have the chance to morph, shoot the stun rounds." The chief ordered.

The choppers began to shoot their turrets once more, along with the plasma lancers; the combined assault began to break through Skye's defenses, Alex and Spencer used their own powers to counter these as Evan used his morphs energy to shoot balls of fire at the choppers at light speed. His first volley of flames impacted on the shields of the first chopper; however his seconds volley pierced the shielding and the helicopter burst into flames.

"Skye, you're almost there, just hold on!" Alex shouted, using his own powers to weigh down the helicopter, keeping it from dodging Evan's next assault.

Evan managed to destroy the second chopper, before Skye's shield flickered, the energy hey bestowed upon the particles faded.

"Look out!" Skye gasped.

The barrier suddenly collapsed; hundreds of stun rounds bursting through the once impervious barrier.

Several round struck the boys, the stung as they released their static within their bodies.

The boys shot everything they had at the last two choppers destroying the third one before the last chopper disappeared below the cliff.

"Why would they stop?" Evan asked weakly, pulling a dart from his arm.

"I don't know," Alex panted.

"This is why!" The chief's voice made them all turn in shock.

The chief had jumped out of the chopper as it went past the cliff's face, he was standing there holding two P90's, and each was sporting a red glowing clip stuck within, more stun rounds.

"You guys, wanna come quietly, or the hard way?" He spat.

"Fuck you!" Skye shouted, shooting a ball of white flames at him.

The chief merely puffed up his chest, the bullet proof vest he was wearing absorbed the flames, which fizzled out on contact.

"I don't have enough energy," Skye groaned.

"All right then, the hard way," the chief grunted, as he took sight with his two guns and fired both guns, draining their clips into the boys.

Skye, Evan, Spencer and Alex each collapsed to the ground with a loud thud, their chests barely rising.

"Bag ‘em and tag ‘em," The chief commanded his soldiers.

The members of the Black team were cuffed using the latest inhibitors and several additional new ones were placed on the boys.
