Welcome To Kalos | Prologue
Hello! This is the first actual story I've written and posted online. Please don't be too harsh.
I'm a role player, known mostly for Dragon riders of Pern but I've also done various things over Skype with my friends. I love writing and was inspired to do this story from my love of Pokemon and some random world building talks with my Fiance.
I already have Chapter 1 written, and I have a vague plan for Chapter 2. I might even have an idea for a short stories series based on a few of the smaller characters first seen in Chapter 1.
I plan on posting a new chapter every month, though if something comes up it is likely that the chapter will be put on hold until a better time. Hopefully each chapter will get progressively longer as I get used to writing larger amounts.
I hope you enjoy!

Katherine didn't plan on moving to Kalos, but as a trained breeder she needed to find a job. With her parents moving she starts her search in Kalos.

The door creaked open, then shut after the person had walked inside, her suitcase following dutifully behind her. She sighed as the familiar smells and setting took hold of her. A roast was in the oven, cinnamon candles were burning in the living room, and the house was silent but the clatter of her mother as she cooked. But she was home, and after about six years of only stopping by for brief vacations and visits, it felt amazing. She wheeled her suitcase to the stairs before lifting it up and heading upstairs and right into her room. The door was open, but she wasn't surprised as she crossed the threshold and found her beloved Vulpix laying there, waiting for her.
“Velvet! I missed you!" The woman exclaimed as she clambered onto her bed, waking up the napping fox Pokémon. Neither of the two seemed to mind though as Kat scooped up the Pokémon into her arms for a good cuddle. Her nose and cheek was pressed into the soft fur, nuzzling against him while he tried to nuzzle and lick at her in return. She giggled, very girlishly at the moment as she pulled her face away long enough for her Vulpix to lather her in 'kisses' and very warm spit. “You missed me too I see." She kept smiling as she roughed up the Vulpix lovingly, even going as far to rub his belly, though she did avoid going too low and between his legs. She pulled away to dig in her smaller bag much to Velvet's confusion.
“I got you a present." She pulled out the Fire Stone to show it to the Vulpix but did not let him touch it just yet. “What do you think about evolving you after dinner?" She asked softly, worried that perhaps he did not want to evolve just yet. The choice was his though, and she would respect it. She understood that during the evolution her Pokémon's body would not be the only thing changing, his mind could also change. His nature, his mentality, they could change as well. She had heard of it happening, but even then she was willing to take this jump. She was a breeder now, and Ninetales were very beautiful Pokémon. It would be a shame not to evolve her lovely Vulpix.
“Vulpix!" The Pokémon agreed happily and curled up into his owner's lap. Katherine smiled and sighed happily and enjoyed a few silent moments with her Pokémon before she was getting called down for dinner.
“I'll have to introduce you to the other friends I got while I was away." She scratched an ear fondly before putting the fox down on her bed where the two then raced down the stairs.
“Katherine, this is a rather serious matter." Her mother shot her a brief glare, at least until Dayton cleared his throat. Yelena settled down a little and went back to eating while her daughter laughed, thinking that the news she had just been given was a joke. She continued to giggle for a moment before she also calmed down.
“Kat, your mother sold her restaurant and I have been offered a promotion. I would be getting paid more, but the job is in the Kalos region." Her father spoke, softly but with a stern edge to his voice. “We have already bought a house and sold this one. We were going to start packing in a few days and planned to be moved and unpacked within a week." Her father explained, her mother nodding in confirmation.
“You are actually serious?" She asked, a single eyebrow rising in disbelief.
“Yes." Her father confirmed before he was going back to eating.
Katherine sighed but went back to eating herself, occasionally giving Velvet a scrap as she thought. “Well, I suppose it is a good thing I still have a good amount in my savings and don't have a job just yet." She grumbled softly but continued eating, excusing herself not long after. She carried Vel back up the stairs and into her room where she set him on the bed and sat down herself after picking up the Fire Stone. She looked down at the Vulpix for perhaps the last time as she offered him the stone.
“Are you sure?" She asked, softly, hesitantly. She got no response from the Pokémon as he lifted his paw and placed it on the stone. Kat watched with a smile as the Vulpix was enveloped with a white light and began to lose its shape. Then it began to reform into another fox shape though it was larger and had more tails. The light broke apart to reveal a Pokémon that was no longer a reddish brown but a lovely cream color with orange at the tip of each tail. Kat smiled as her Pokémon shifted to sit on the floor where she stroked the soft fur before kissing his nose. “Just as handsome as I imagined." She cooed and grabbed up a brush and began to stroke it through the already smooth fur. She sat like that for a long while, her hands getting sore from all the brushing before the newly evolved Ninetales butted her hand to make her stop. Once she looked at the time she cursed and pulled out the only other Poke balls she owned and gestured for Velvet to follow her downstairs.
Kat smiled and pet the Rapidash before letting the horse prance and kick around happily for a moment before returning. “I bet that feels good after being cooped up so long in your ball. I'm sorry about that. But this is Velvet, a friend." She introduced the two and let them check each other out for a moment. They seemed to be getting along well, until the Ninetales lifted himself up and tried to mount Rapidash. Kat frowned and gave him a good shove to push him off, not that the mare seemed to mind. “Vel, you are supposed to wait until Kasai is in heat." She scolded before leading the mare to the shelter where her parent's Pokémon were sleeping. She could tell Kasai was nearing her heat, but the mare wasn't ready quite yet for eggs. And frankly, neither was Kat ready to take care of said eggs. Plus, there were still some notes she wanted to check over anyhow before breeding any of her Pokémon. With Kasai settled in she went back upstairs to release her last Pokémon.
Kat kneeled in front of the Umbreon as he shook himself off. “Hey Shade, feel better now?" She asked as she stroked the black ears. Shade merely crooned as a weight jumped up onto Kat's bed. Kat looked to see Velvet lying down on his favorite spot on the bed. Right beside where Kat would sleep. Shade saw this too and bristled slightly before jumping up as well. Bickering and a brief tussle ensued between the two males before she flicked them both sharply on the nose. “You two can share. Velvet can sleep there tonight, and Shade tomorrow night." She reprimanded them both only to pull away and undress so that she could get comfortable in a tank top and pajama pants.
She grabbed her laptop, adjusting the brightness so it would not keep her boys awake while she looked into something. It kept her up later than she would have liked, but she had found something promising. She emailed the person who had posted the advertisement on the site before she put her laptop away and drifted off to sleep with her Pokémon.
