Dragoness' Heat Chapter 2
Chapter 2! OwO Feel free to Vote! Or not.... I mean, you can... pwease? >n
"Wait! Stop!" Nature tried to call out to the dragon but to no avail. The dragon keeps its distance between her and is gaining more of it as they enter the darker parts of the forest.
'Why is he running away from me?' Nature asked herself why she continue to pursue the dragon.
The dragon that was running looked behind him and Nature could've sworn that he sees fear present in his face. But why? Why would another dragon be fearful to see their own kind? Why is he running from her? These questions run through Nature's head but shook it off and focused on trying to get her potential mate to stop
Almost half an our had passed since their game of tag started. Nature can feel the fatigue catch up to her, the same can be said to the dragon that she was chasing. Normally, a dragon could run a lot more because of their large reserve of stamina when flying from distant places, but since Nature spent most of her time hiding in the caves not flying outside more often, her usual routine came to an abrupt stop and she lost some of her finesse.
Fatigue can be also seen to the dragon that she was chasing. The dragon began to pant hard as he almost tumble to the ground but he keep on moving, trying to gain distance from the dragoness.
Their chase led them to a series of canopies where it's really hard to run due to the thick vegetation that is growing from the ground. Skyler, still have no idea how to fly, greatly slowed down making the distance closer for the dragoness to catch him.
Since Nature knew how to fly, she took to the skies and dive-bombed the dragon, making them roll off a cliff and into a valley of flowers and grass. The flowery patch from below seems to cushion their fall. Nature landed on the top on the dragon dazed but otherwise okay.
The same can not be said to the dragon that cushioned her. Once Skyler gathered all his bearings, he then noticed that the dragoness has pinned him down to the ground in the most awkward position he never thought it would have.
Nature groaned and tried to stand, only for her muzzle to touch the dragon's. She wanted to look away and tried to get off from their awkard position, but she can't. She was so mesmerized by the eyes of the dragon. The same can be said to the dragon that she was laying upon.
'His eyes, there's fear in them. But, I can't help but feel there is also curiousity and kindness...' Nature thought as she was entranced at his eyes.
'Her eyes, they're so beautiful, it's like the color of her eyes matches the green forest of the world, yet.... I can't help but feel that behind that beauty lies a really lonely person-- err... Dragon? Come to think about it, how is there a dragon here?' Skyler thought as he was also entranced at the dragoness' gaze.
Both dragons wanted to speak up but didn't know how to approach each other. Instead, they never moved, they never once broke their eye contact. Their gazing at each other has made them comfortable and made Skyler's heart beat to calm down. Its like time has stopped for both dragons and they felt like they never wanted it to end.
Nature somewhat noticed that they've been staring at each other for long and blushed. She shook her head off and removed herself from Skyler, much to his confusion and relief.
Skyler, now finally free of the dragoness before him, sat up straight and faced the already blushing Nature. The adrenaline from running before starts to diminish and he felt really tired. He tried to speak up, but the dragoness beat him to it.
"Umm, hi?" Said the dragoness who shyly looked at the ground.
'Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! After all that finding and chasing and that is what you can tell? Hi?! What happened to the determination Nature!?' Nature mentally scold herself. She looked at the dragon in front of her, she couldn't tell if he is smiling or cringing.
'Oh my God, she's talking to me. What now?!' Skyler thought. 'What expression should I show?! How should I say it?! I don't know any dragon culture! What if I accidentally flirted with her! That would be so wrong in so many levels!'
"Hello." Skyler said with a nervous grin. "Please don't hurt me? Look I promise I'll leaves soon as I--"
"NO!"
Skyler recoiled back a little and looked at the dragoness who's face is a bit red.
"Your not.... You.... You did nothing wrong, Okay? You ran away before letting me talk." Nature looked at the ground and draw a small circle in it. "It's just that, when I heard a painful dragon roar across the forest, I just have to find you. I couldn't believe that there is still a dragon alive in this world besides me." Nature looked at the dragon in front of her who's face is full of confusion.
"Oh right! I forgot to introduce myself. Sorry if I didn't tell you away of who I am. I tend to ramble some stuff from time to time.... Ahem .... I mean." Nature took a deep breath and calmed her nerves.
'Huh, who would have thought that there are dragons living in the world? How come they aren't found yet?' Skyler began to think deep while Nature introduced herself.
"I'm Nature. Nice to meet you.....?" Nature looked at the dragon in front of him and blinked.
"Huh?" Skyler returned from thinking to hard and noticed that the dragoness was asking for his name.
"Oh. My name is...." Skyler paused for a moment to think a bit.
'Should I tell her my name? 'Skyler' seems to be a strange name for a dragon. Maybe....' Skyler looked at the dragon with a smile and said. "I'm Sky. Nice to meet you."
Skyler extended his right arm for a handshake, only for him to saw the dragoness' face filled with perplexity.
"Oh right. You don't know what a hand shake is do you?" Asked Skyler as he scratched his head in embarrassment.
"What is a 'hand shake'? " Asked Nature curiously as she looked at Skyler's retreating arm.
"Well, it is some kind of greeting where you take the other person-- err dragon's paw and shook it. Like this, hold out your paw will you?" Skyler offered a paw to Nature where she looked at his with hesitation.
"Umm okay?" Nature did what she was instructed and shook Skyler's paw. "So is that it?" She asked in wonder.
"Yeah. Umm hey, sorry for running away earlier. I thought you were gonna hurt me." Skyler apologized.
"Apology accepted."
Another awkward silence appeared as the two dragons did not know what to say, finally...
"So, are you the only dragon living right near here? Are there any other dragons?" Nature asked trying to ignore the awkwardness.
Skyler hesitated whether he would tell her that he is not a dragon, but a human who turned into a dragon and that there isn't any other dragons that he had seen besides her. He decided not to.
"No, sorry. I'm afraid your the only dragon I ever seen." Skyler looked at Nature who fell to the ground with her belly and sighed.
"Are you okay?" Skyler took a step closer towards Nature.
Nature looked at Skyler's concerned face and smiled sadly.
"Yeah. I'm fine. It's just that....I was hoping that you, another dragon, might see more of our kind. I guess we are the only dragons left in the world." Nature looked at the sky and sighed. "I'm sure glad that I wasn't the only one left." Nature looked at Skyler with sadness on her eyes.
"Umm hey, Nature. Just out of curiousity, what exactly happened to the other dragons?" Skyler expected that Nature will look at him with bafflement, but instead she just sighed.
"How come you didn't know that?" Nature looked at him dead in the eye. "The humans. They are the ones responsible why most of us are dead." Nature slumped to the ground again.
'The humans? Wait. Don't tell me....' Skyler laid down besides Nature and tries to comfort her with his wing.
"Look. I'm sorry if I asked such a stupid question for you okay? It's just that...." Skyler thought of a good excuse and remembered some of the dragon logic in The Legend of Spyro trilogy.
"I was stuck in a crystal for so long. When I freed myself, I can only remember what I am and my name is. Some humans found me when I was walking to the forest and they took me to their home. Boy they where really hospitable and then---" Skyler jumped back when nature sprang up and looked at him with uneasiness.
"What?"
"Humans? Found you?" Nature looked at Skyler with a critical eye whether it is a good idea to be mates with dragon who had been founded humans.
"Wha? Oh no no no! Don't take this the wrong way, this humans are good! They did nothing wrong to me--"
"They killed most of our kind!" Nature stalked towards Skyler while at the same time he walked backwards.
"Looks, just. Hear me out okay? Eeep!" Skyler fell to the ground with his back and he looked up and saw Nature looming over him.
"Why in ancestors name do you think that humans are good?" Nature closed the distance between Skyler's face and hers making them both look together at the eye.
Skyler couldn't concentrate on an answer, not when Nature is holding him back in an awkward position. He tried to come up with an answer but none.
"It's just that...." Skyler tried to avoid eye contact with the dragoness but she held his head in place with her paw.
"Look me in the eye and say it." Nature lay down on top of the dragon, much to Skyler's discomfort. She didn't know that the position they're in is somewhat close to a mating position, but Nature didn't noticed due to her stubbornness and Skyler too busy with his internal freak out session.
"Well? Aren't you gonna say something?"
Skyler was about to retort back when she saw something shimmering in the eyes of the dragoness in front of him.
He saw tears.
He should have noticed that long ago, but he is to fixated on meeting a dragon for the first time and that he turned into a dragon himself that he didn't noticed the sorrow and despair of the dragoness in front of her.
Skyler closed his eyes and took a deep breath and looked at Nature again.
"Nature." Skyler started. "Did the humans.... did something horrible to you?" It was obvious what the question is. But he had to be sure, otherwise....
Nature was a tiny bit bemused but answered. "Yes. They killed my only friends, my family. Everything. They took everything away from me." She looked at him again and asked, "Well? Aren't you gonna answer? Or does a dragon nip caught your tounge?"
A cool breeze flows throughout the grassy plains as both dragons took in the silence. Both of them are still in that position, and not admitting defeat.
A single light blinked from the heavens above and fell. Another one did the same, and another, and another, untill a full blown meteor shower was seen from the skies above, making the dragon snapped out of their staring contest and looked at the stars.
Nature got off from the dragon and sat a few meters away from Skyler. She looked at the star showers and looked at it with awe.
'At least.... There is one thing that the humans can't took.' Nature smiled a little as she remembered the time of her hatchling days. She was so little that her parents would often carry her in their back and shown her to a place where she could see the stars from above that will fall to the earth.
Little Nature tumbled and fell from trying to catch a little butterfly that landed on her nose. She named her little friend 'Fluttershy'. Of course, said Fluttershy 'accidentally' got eaten by the same dragon that named her.
Moments later, Little Nature moaned in the grassy ground while her parents looked at their hatchling with amusement.
"Naty," her mom said. "How many times have I told you not to eat bugs? They give dragons a nasty tummy ache?" Her mother, an earth dragoness, gently carried the still groaning Nature in her back and walked towards another dragon who is looking at them with a smile.
(Naty: Spelled as Ney-ti)
"She ate a bug didn't she?" The dragon said.
"Yes, this time it's a butterfly. I swear, if she continues to eat more bugs, I think she'll be able to gain resistance on eating bugs one day." her mother joked.
The father looked at little Nature's moaning form and nuzzled her tummy.
"Now Naty, how many times does your mother told you to never eat bugs?" Her father asked with a smile. Of course he already knew what the answer is, but seeing that adorable face answer just make his heart warm.
"Never eat bugs because bug give you tummy problems." Nature groaned while she clutched her tummy tightly.
Her parents just giggled at their daughter's antics while the father gently picked up his daughter and put her in his back.
"Naty, do you want to go home?" Her mother asked with a smile.
"Nuh-uh! The stars are about to fall! I wanted to catch one!" Nature said excitedly, her tummy ache forgotten.
"Okay, if you say so." Her mother nuzzled the cheeks of her daughter as she giggled and tried to pry away her mother.
The dragon family waited patiently on the below that starry night at a hill. They chatted and talked and finally, little Nature saw the first star that falls from the heavens.
"Mummy! Look! There it is!" Nature shouted with glee as she tried to jump off from his father and tried to chase the star but her father grabbed on to her tail and made her stop running.
"Oh.... Hehe, umm. Can I go find that star dad?" Nature bashfully asked as he tried to convince her parents by giving them the cutest puppy eyes in history.
"No." Her parents said in unison.
"Awww...." Nature groaned disappointment. She just went and lied down to her father's back and looked at the other shooting stars as with her family
"You know..." Her mother began. "I heard that when you see a falling star, you can make a wish and that wish will come true." Her mother said, trying to cheer up her disappointed daughter.
"Really?!" Nature perked up at the exact words that her mother told her.
Her father laughed a little and was about to tell her that it was a lie, but the look of his mate made him shut up.
"Your mother is right dear, why don't you make a wish?" Her father looked at his mate who smiled at him.
"Hmmm..." Nature began to think deeply on what she wanted to wish. After some time, she perked up and smiled gleefully.
"I got it! I wish that--" She was cut off when her mother said... "Oh dear! I almost forgot! Nature, you cannot say it out loud or else the wish won't come true."
"What? Why? What's the difference?" She asked in confusion.
"Uhhhh....." Her mother didn't know what to reply to that simple question. She looked at her mate and asked silently for help.
"Oh ummm, you can actually make a wish while saying it out loud dear," That father saw her mate glaring at him. " *Gulp* But, if you do that then the wish will take too long to come true. So it is best if you wish for it silently in your mind."
The mother's glare softened fir a moment and looked at her daughter, hoping that she believed her father's farfetched explanation.
"Oh, really? Ok, I believe you. But... My wish will probably take to long to come true. Probably when I am old like you mum and dad." Nature looked at the sky and sees a lot more shooting stars.
"Huh? What do you mean Naty?" Her mother asked.
"Well, my wish is that I hope I could find a really strong and handsome dragon that will be my mate in the future." Naty smiled innocently while her parents were shocked by their daughter's wish.
"W-why did you want a wish like that dear?" Her mother asked with worry.
"Well, when I saw you two all caring and loving, I was hoping I could find a dragon who treats me like both of you treat each other as well." She looked at the sky and continued," That and well, my other friends started talking about what kind of dragon that we would end up with when we grow up. But I just said ewww because it seems so gross, but when an elder dragon heard us and told us her story on how she ended up with her special dragon.... It actually feels kinda.... What was that word again? Oh right! Romantic." She looked at her parents with a smile while her parents sweatdrops.
"Oh....Well, if that's the case, wish a away my little dragon". Her father encouraged her. He looked at her mate and they both got the same idea on what they would do if they somehow meet the so called 'elder dragon'.
"Okay! Here I go!" Nature closed her eyes and wished hard. She keep repeating the same wording in her head over and over again until exhaustion creeps in.
"Okay I'm done!" Nature beamed.
Her parents smiled at their daughter's wish. Although, they are a bit worried for their daughter's innocence.
"Well, we should probably go home now. " Her father said as he stood up in fours.
"Can we stay a little bit longer please? I wanna see more of the falling stars!" Nature asked. She was hoping she could see more of the beautiful shooting stars.
"Dear, I don't think there are any more falling stars." Her mother said with amusement.
Nature looked at the sky and what her mother said was true. There are no more falling stars in the sky.
With a sad face, she sighed and muttered and "ok" to her parents while she laid down on her father's back as they began the flight back home.
Unbeknownst to her, a single shooting star fell from the sky and landed on the vast unknown.
Nature was busy having a flashback of her childhood past that she didn't notice Skyler went up to her and booped her muzzle.
Nature blinked and looked at Skyler with surprised.
"Did you just booped me?" Nature asked as a blush rose from her cheeks.
"Umm yeah, you were kinda zoning out. Are you okay? Look, I'm sorry that I asked a stupid question before. I didn't know what you were feeling and I only ended up hurting you." Skyler apologized by bowing as Nature looked at him weirdly at his strange action.
"Why are you lowering your upper body like that?" Nature asked confusingly.
"Umm... I'm apologizing? Sorry, is this not how you apologize?" Skyler asked sheepishly.
Nature looked at him for a moment until she burst out laughing. Skyler looked at her confusingly as while she laughed a lot harder at his confused face.
"That... That is not how you apologize. Hehe...." Nature looked at him giggling as he blushed in embarrassment.
"Yeah yeah, laugh it up. I'll get back at you someday." Skyler huffed in annoyance as her laughter died down.
Nature looked at him and then to the sky. She hadn't laughed this hard for so many years. Perhaps.... He is the one that she wished for....
Skyler noticed that Nature isn't looking at him but at the meteor shower that is happening right now. Skyler has a lot of questions of Nature, mainly on what and how is she still alive when she said that all dragons were extinct. But, he just let it slide and enjoyed her company anyway while watching the meteor shower.
'After all.... It's not like she will go someplace else that is too far for me to walk.' Skyler thought as he looked at her with wonder.
Nature noticed in the corner of her eyes that Skyler is watching her instead of the meteor shower. She just ignored it and tried to look at the falling stars but it gets harder and harder to ignore the longer Skyler stare at her.
Skyler didn't noticed that his staring only made Nature uncomfortable. His brain went to the thought of many possibilities and theories as of how dragons use their wings to fly and their tail for flight control, he began to think hard that he didn't noticed that he was unconsciously staring at her which made Nature looked at him.
"Sky?" Nature asked.
Skyler blinked and returned to the living world and noticed that he was looking at Nature who's cheeks are a bit red.
"Ummm yes?" Skyler noticed that the atmosphere suddenly changed from comfortable to... strange. He felt that something is about to happen but he doesn't know what.
Nature looked at the eyes of Skyler and she saw her reflection in it. For some reason, when she looked at his eyes, she felt a really warm feeling in her chest. She felt strange, she never felt like this before when she was with a dragon.
Before she knew it, her body suddenly move into auto-pilot and started to get close to him. She wondered why her body suddenly felt the need to get closer to him, but.... For some reason it felt right.
Skyler on the other hand, didn't noticed that Nature went closer to him until her muzzle was mere inches away from his face. He could feel something warm right near his cheeks. When he snapped out of his reverie, he noticed the emerald eyes of Nature. She was so close. Too close in fact that Skyler's eyes widened and tried to scoot away, but for some reason, his body disobeyed his order and instead, stood there frozen in place.
'Why can't I move?! What is happening?!' Skyler thought frantically as he tried to look away from Nature's alluring eyes but he couldn't. When he looked at Nature's eyes before, all he saw was loneliness and the longing for someone to comfort her, but right now, he saw something in those eyes that made his body shiver. And he doesn't know if it's a shiver of fear or a shiver of something else. What he saw in Nature's eyes is what would you expect when a female is ready to ekss another male.
And Skyler didn't want any part of it.
