First attempt at a first person monster story. Kinda like it. Might at least do more with the character himself, "Cray."

A small pudgy man with red cheeks and beady eyes stood before me in what I could only assume was several birds strung together on his fat hide. We both stood upon wooden boards in a quiet room paid for at the back of a tavern, from where I stood the man smelled like a sweaty flower soaking in alcohol. The pudgy man cleared his throat and took from his belt a piece of parchment, a job no doubt, most humans didn't call me into private rooms for idle chatter. With a dismissive snort I reached to take it and read it myself, eyes scanning the sheet. The letter had been addressed to Craryk, my former name before I had left my tribe and simply went by Cray. It was a longwinded and detailed order from the King himself for my cooperation in a literal witch hunt. A woman had supposedly stolen an important book from his archives and now he wanted me to retrieve the book and kill the witch without a trial. Her lair was at the far side of the woods near a cave and I'd be paid in gold. Normally I'd refuse immediately. Anything the royals needed out of a gnoll was typically slave labor as their pay was significantly lower for those of my people, but the numbers were high, in fact, the coin I could gain from this mission were enough to get me out of the kingdom and if I were the sort, buy a small manor. There was also a certain gravity in the wording of the letter, almost as if I'd be hung if I didn't agree. I looked up to see the pudgy man awaiting my response eagerly, his hands clasped together before I reached out my large hand to shake. He accepted with a sudden look of relief before I gripped on to his small hand and gave it a friendly crush beneath brown fur his face contorting, struggling to keep some semblance of civility as my lips peeled back to reveal a fang filled grin. Leaving the man to tend to his hand I exited the tavern my equipment already set to go as I turned to head into the woods.

Hunting the arcane wasn't unusual for me, at the same time it wasn’t anything I had attempted to make a habit of. Anything with a bit of power could cause trouble and I had been called many times to kill corrupted creatures and mages for one reason or another. After a while it just became known that I was a sellsword capable of dealing with magical forces and so my jobs were typically of the sort. I never intended it to be so, I had just taken the jobs that no one else wanted, but I never held any grudges against those who used magic. The only type of magic user I found myself hating were necromancers. Necromancers brought upon a deep seated rage of mine, a bestial call from the past that told me to rip them limb from limb and burn them, but I had always kept myself in check, not all necromancers were from my tribe, even though most were sick and twisted in their own right. Perversion of the dead typically fell under my small list of things I could not forgive for a mass of gold or food.

The King had given a detailed report on the witch's supposed powers and it was enough to keep me cautious. The ability to call demons and bind them to your will was a dangerous ability and I had only ever faced one demon, a scar across my chest burned as I remembered the encounter. As I came upon the lair of the offending woman, I felt that I might have been sorely misinformed. The witch's den was more of a home, a wooden shack surrounded by herb gardens and flowers and I could faintly pick up the smell of sweet spice. My eyes narrowed as I watched from the bushes. I didn't feel magic, I didn't smell it either, and the gem at my belt didn't shine and burn to tell me of any wards or traps, but I wouldn't jump in just yet.

An almond skinned woman stepped out of the house and shut the door, a smile touching her lips. She dressed in a long silken robe that hugged onto her features, her cheeks bright and her body curved and full. She had black hair tied in a braid which she pushed back while she stepped around her home to kneel in one of the many herb patches around her home. Now her back was fully exposed and so I slipped through the bushes carefully, not a noise made, my tail flicking back and forth. As I approached I felt a great hunger start at the pit of my stomach and slowly rise, the fur upon my neck raising, my eyes narrowing as I felt the hunt. I forced myself to calm, to remember that I needed to retrieve a stolen item before killing her, that the item in question could be hidden in another location. Just as I got within range of biting her, I drew the sword from my belt the witch turning with a gasp as she saw me, her emerald eyes assessing me with quiet fear. Her mouth shut and her shoulders sunk. At this range any little trick or spell she tried to play would blow up in her face, but before I could ask her about the book she asked, "Why are you here?" Not a trace of fear in her voice, it was more of a command than anything else.

Either hoping that I wasn't an assassin, or she just didn't know. I spoke plainly, figuring I would hear answers from the witch's lips, "King sent me. You stole a book from him. Message said black vines covering a green cover."

Her eyes widened and I could feel cool life gathering as though she were going to try something soon, but instead she held herself in and breathed out. For a moment her gaze turned to the sword in my hand, her eyes tracing the runes etched upon the blade meant to dampen power and again she breathed out still speaking in a calm tone, "I have done no such thing. If you'll come inside. I can explain."

I do not give fate the chance to decide whether I live or die, but I didn't kill the witch where she stood. Instead I took a step back, sword still gripped in hand, lips pulling back to show fangs and eyes narrow. She regarded me with a small smile, apparently feeling safe enough to keep her back to me as she led me into her home. I followed, only more out of curiosity than anything else. I never liked being tricked and given half-truths, even if the money was good. Not that I wouldn't kill the girl, just, I preferred to know why the lie?

The witch's home felt far too comfortable. Pelts lined the wooden floors and the shelves she had along the wall were full of various plant and flower ready to be plucked for her uses no doubt. Not even a step inside of the home and already the witch had begun explaining, "I wrote a book. A book on summoning creatures from another realm, powerful demons that would serve without question or bargain. All you need is the right ingredients and the right ritual, all of which are detailed in my book." My left ear twitched and rose to listen in close, she kept stopping on the word, "My" giving it a little extra volume every time she hit it, so the King wanted to steal from her. That was enough for me. I brought the sword up, but stopped as she continued, "Do you think the King will let you live with that knowledge?" My eyes narrowed as her lips curled into a small smile and I swore I saw the harlot's eyes sparkle. I wasn't stupid, the King would kill me for knowing, and perhaps he had been paranoid enough to plan to kill me all the same.

Ears drawing back I felt a great rage building and snapped the air before me, lips quivering as I snarled, "Then the King won't be leaving me alone even if I finish the job and if I do not then he will hunt."

The witch stepped to the window hand directing my eyes to a score or so of men in armor with the King's mark worn proudly on their chests. I cursed and again felt that rage build. I would have to satisfy the bloodlust some other time, for now I needed a way out. The witch could perhaps read my thoughts, or my expression, her next words drawing my attention fully, "I could get myself out of here you know...the spell isn't so hard." her tone then turned coy, her lips curving into a smirk, "I could even bring a friend."

I had been backed into a corner and it seemed that my contract with the traitor King was over, and a new contract with the witch had been signed. I didn't even want to try and weigh my options, I could kill the vast majority of those men in waiting, but I couldn't face down an army myself, no matter how weak humans by themselves were. The feeling of being taken advantage of brought more rage to the surface, my fur standing on end. I would sign on with the witch There was sense to her words and so I nodded, sheathing my sword, body shivering as I did so, "You need protection...I can provide so long as you promise eventual pay." Of course I was going to try and negotiate. I work for gain, not for charity, even if my life was at stake.

The witch seemed amused at my words, the side of her lips quirking up as though she were holding back laughter. Extending her delicate fingers she replied to my comment, "Eventually. I am a woman of my word." A light echo of laughter rung out from her lips as I grasped her hand, "You may call me, miss Celia."

I only stared, not a single word uttered from my own maw as I held onto her hand, waiting for her to get us out of here. Humor could wait until we were out of this situation, and humor wasn't my strong suit, it never was and never will be. Celia regarded me with a small frown and a huff, her gaze turning away and back to the window as she muttered, "Impossible creature..." With that her grip suddenly became very hot in my hand and I felt the same cold rush of life gathering as I did before, this time it surrounded both of us and sucked us in strange ways. For a moment light flashed before my eyes in various colors and my stomach lurched and spun before suddenly before my eyes we both stood in a torchlight room. While my eyes focused and my stomach settled I searched around noticing that Celia was moving around gathering things from various shelves and desks, not wasting any time while I could barely feel my insides. A sharp strike to the back of my head woke me up as the witch walked past, earning a snarl and a snap from my maw. She reacted without much care and spoke quickly, "We're in the cave near my home. This is where I conduct my heavier magics, we should be safe here, but just to be sure we'll be heading deeper in where an actual pre-built portal can take us someplace significant instead of just a few paces." She then sighed as she leaned against the door to the room, "But, we'll be safe here until we're ready to head further in. The entrance is warded."

Of course the witch's lair hadn't been the home. Now that my mind and stomach weren't about to be expelled from the insides of my being, I could feel the magic lingering in the air, a faint tickling at the back of my throat followed as I spoke, "If we're safe witch then we can discuss price."

My ears folded back as I felt the forces gathering around her again before she turned to me, her eyes flashing crimson for a moment before returning to their regular green. As she spoke my hand found itself at the hilt of my sword, prepared to draw it at any time, "Witch? No no, I'd prefer summoner, or sorceress even. I am no common witch. Now..." She paused for a moment as she took a breath taking careful steps around me, her eyes looking me up and down, a cool shiver running up my spine, my instincts screaming to bury her and run, "I can't expect you to stay with me once we get out through the portal for free, so I'll offer gold. Not as much as the King...but I'd like a capable bodyguard while I get this book into the right hands, my mentor. Of course I don't have the gold right now." she then stepped forth, her hand touching my chin as she purred, "My body in return for your trust?"

Her touch was far too warm and her eyes glinted with the slightest sign of magic. She was trying to enthrall me, or at the very least make it easier for me to accept the deal. I grabbed at her wrist and leaned in to where our eyes could meet face to face. Again she didn't flinch, she only watched with a small smile, expecting me to say yes, and she wasn't wrong. Celia didn't need magic, didn't need to enthrall me, because she was pretty, because she had promised gold and her body. At any point I could end her life, but I wouldn't, I saw no need to and she knew this, but we were both trapped in this situation so I figured why not take as much from the situation as I could? My mouth opened as I leaned in, thick tongue dragging out against her neck, for the slightest bit she shivered and tried to pull away, but I held her wrist and pulled her closer, whispering into her ear hunger dripping from every word, "Fine, but my end pay needs to be good."

She was about to utter something probably clever, something that would annoy me, but I silenced her with a swift but light bite upon the skin of her neck. Her clever words turned to a satisfying squeak, my ears twitching and raising to take in the sounds of her protesting hissing now. I could only grin and continue my assault on her neck, again I moved to whisper, "You offered yourself to me. I accept that you are mine until I am satisfied." This time she made no protest, she only averted her gaze as she pulled her hand from my grasp. I shivered as I watched her, so badly did I want to tear the clothing from her hide, to claw and mar that pretty body with tooth and nail, but I waited.

Taking a step back my hands moved to peel the leather armor from my body, carefully unhooking and removing the stuff before popping off both belt and loincloth. Already my arousal showed from my sheath, and I could see her eyes trailing down before raising to take in the feature of my body. I wasn't the largest gnoll, but to humans I seemed like a giant even hunched over. Even beneath brown fur strong muscle showed from work that I had done over the years, and many considered the scar across my chest to be a bonus. With my strength I would render this, 'witch' my whimpering little bitch and in some way perhaps, she sensed it. As she slipped from her silken robe she shivered, her eyes still locked on mine now as it was my turn to examine her. Her breasts were supple, not the most perky, but heavy enough to satisfy my hands, her body ended in curves that had my tongue flicking out against my chops hungrily.

Stepping forward I reached to grab at her chest, claws careful against her soft skin, leaning in to drag my tongue against her other breast, the salt of her skin touching my senses. Again she shivered, but made no noise, made no movement, her eyes made the only motion on her body and they kept assessing me. With my nose pressed against her chest I could feel her heart beat, her breaths short against my head as I brought my tongue out to lick, dragging it down low to her stomach before trailing down to her thighs, my hands gripping on to both of her legs. For a moment I felt her soft hangs push fingers through the fur of my head, digits stopping behind my ears. With a smirk I brought her legs up on to my shoulders, hefting her up on high and pinning her against the wall, my cold nose pressed against her crotch, my maw opening wide to drag my tongue against her womanhood. She cried out and squealed her fingers gripping through my fur for fear of being dropped. Finally a proper reaction. Mating was boring when your partner was unaffected by even the slightest of intimidation. Being treated like an equal in bed was boring, being revered, feared and respected was what I desired and so I took control.

My tongue flicked against her pussy, brushing against her slit and pushing within, tongue moving up to find her clit for just a moment before falling back down to push through her entrance. My tongue circled and pushed further and further still before pulling free slowly, her moans, the tightening of her legs around my neck urging me on. Even her legs were soft, gentle, so easily moved and eventually broken. My hands moved to grip at each, clawing gently to leave shallow cuts, my tongue working doubly to pleasure her, to stretch her and prepare her for my cock, my cock throbbing between my legs with a heat that begged to be satisfied, begged to be dipped within her wet folds. I wanted to satisfy that hunger, satisfy the instinct that told me to breed the whore before me and with a bubbling snarl muffled by the crotch of the woman my mouth was nestled against. She gasped and shivered in response her legs loosening as I rose, her body sliding against mine, her breasts pressed against my body, my arms wrapping around her knees to hold her up still pinned against the wall.

Celia's eyes refused to meet mine, but I forced her to, my mouth moving over hers, pulling her face front and center where I could push my tongue through her lips and against hers. For a moment I heard her whine, her body protesting the sudden force, but her hands slowly slid across my shoulders and eased there as she accepted my control, my thick canine cock twitching against her pussy. The tip of my cock burned, yearned for entrance and so I pushed, pushed against her quivering hole, working my way inside slowly to savor the feeling of those wet walls clamped against my cock. Her body became heated, her eyes flashing before rolling back just a bit as she groaned to my mouth. Pulling my mouth away I grinned, loving the sound of her moaning, my cock twitching violently inside of her as I thrust in deeper fitting more and more of my cock until the bulbous flesh of my knot kissed at the entrance. With my tongue lolling out on to her chest I breathed in her scent as I took in a breath, breathing out in a slow growl before working my hips to push and pull in and out of the witch, driving inside of her again and again, faster and faster without mercy, my instinct and desire getting the better of my judgment, her moans and squeals pushing me to the limit as I pounded that cunt.

Already my is set aflame, my balls tightening as I bury myself deep inside, still not allowing my knot to enter that pussy. We would not be safe in this cave forever, I had to constantly remind myself, my body, to not lose control, to not pound away at her endlessly and as deep as I could. Celia might have been a powerful mage, but she was still human, still so fragile, and I could break her here. With a snarl I bit on to her shoulder, my hips shaking as I slowed myself down. Each thrust slow, passionate, but firm. Almost as soon as I slowed down I felt her breath upon my neck, her cheek resting upon mine as she whispered, "Thank you."

Normally I wouldn't care, but making sure she could still move after this payment was part of the job, and it wouldn't do me any good to break her if I was going to take her again another time. My tongue trailed over her shoulder where I had just bitten, her moans coming out as I tasted metallic warmth dripping from the marks I had just made. She shivered at my tongue and groaned out as I pushed in just a bit faster, my knot grinding against her entrance with every single push. The wild instinct in my body told me to ram it in, to knot inside of her and cum, but that would only serve to slow us down, and already I'd have to bandage her shoulder and various other parts of her body where my claws had found their way without my mind's consent. Even breathing was a strain on my control, for every time I took in her scent I could smell arousal, fear, with a mixture of shame that told me to keep going. I wanted more, but I had to settle for what I could get.

Soon enough the heat in my heavy balls churned and rose on high through the shaft of my cock. I held it for a moment as I thrust faster, knot slapping against her entrance with each push, each shove sounding off with a squishy slap, our hips not yet meeting. Again I snarled but this time I hit my head against the wall rather than bite her or claw her. I heard her gasp as I did so, and again as my cock twitched violently inside of her, releasing thick seed that would surely fill her well. I could also feel the way that her insides grasped my cock, squeezing and milking with a quivering force that could only be her orgasm. With a ragged breath I pulled out of her and eased her on to the ground, something warm trickling from my head as I pulled away. Perhaps her paying with her body was a fool’s notion, but she seemed fine enough.

Celia held herself against the wall, fanning herself just a bit, her lips curved up surprisingly into a small smile. She knelt down to grab onto my still hard cock and I stared down at her as she whispered against my member, "Poor thing...you held back so much, so much that you're still hard. You're not even satisfied...and you hurt yourself to keep me safe? Passion or not, I thank you..." she paused as if searching for name, as if she were unsure if I had provided it or not.

With a small sigh I provided my name, large hand moving to cup the girl's cheek, thumb moving in circles, "Cray."

Celia purred, "Cray..." And for a moment she hung with the word, staring into space before leaning in to taking what she could of my cock. Her soft lips dancing over my shaft, her tongue pushing underneath and around as she moved back and forth. From where I stood I could see the marks that I had given her, both from fang and claw. In a sense I was proud of them, they were marks of conquest, marks that showed that she was mine even if for this one time, but they were also a show of a loss of control. I grabbed on to her head then, feeling my body grow heated again as I closed my eyes, imagining how it would feel to take her fully to knot her, to ruin her and breed her properly. Without noticing my hips began moving, began thrusting to her, my cock pushing inside of her mouth again and again. She only stayed still upon her knees, allowing me to take my payment in full, her tongue working delicately as my cock pushing against it so firmly. My knot hit her lips several times, and each time she gagged just a bit, keeping herself perfectly still for my enjoyment until finally that same heat from before permeated my cock and balls, flowing through and coming out as thick ejaculate all over her mouth. I had satisfied myself, I had satisfied my lust, but my hand still held her head, forcing her to swallow every single drop until I was done with her. Pulling free of her mouth I breathed out, "We need to get going...but first we tend to your wounds."

Wordlessly she moved to gather her dress, her hands passing over her body, her wounds sealing with a glow. My eyes regarded her with a bit of wonder. I knew few users of the arts who could seal their own wounds so quickly, and without collapsing. Her eyes flicked back to me and she smiled just a bit before replying, "Taken care of, now, get dressed and let us be gone."

I obeyed. Not because I had been enthralled, but simply because I had been paid and I needed this new job. I needed to follow this witch to her destination to find a safe place, and to receive payment. Leather and blades back on me, I stretched my fingers out, rolling my shoulders before following Celia through the door.

My nose smelled it first, black powder for explosives. I grabbed her and pulled her back into the room and fell atop of her wrapping myself around her just as flame and hell roared through the caves and through the door. I felt a searing pain upon my back, my eyes shutting tight as I protected my charge. Celia yelled out, whether she was in pain, or was simply afraid, I could not tell. Darkness filled the world for just a moment and I suddenly felt cold, very cold. I remembered my clan, the taste of death touching my lips as I could hear their teachings. Through death, through pain we will live again. Necromancy is the ultimate end, just as death itself is. So cold.

That cold was being pushed back though, I heard my charge call my name, something warm slapping at my cheek before I woke with a gasp, my hand gripping her wrist. I sat up growling and I winced, my back burning like the hells themselves. I look around in the darkness, adjusting just as I saw a green light from Celia's hand, her eyes frightened and wide, "I didn't think they'd try to do that...they could have destroyed the mountain and caved us in" she said quietly.

Despite the pain, despite the horror of near death and memories of the past I rose to my feet, snorting as I did so, "Then we will move. That portal is deeper in yes?"

Celia nodded as she rose again with me taking my hand to lead me through the door. We moved quietly through the cave, pain still burning through my back, but we found it eventually. The obelisk that served as the portal had been protected by powerful magic, for any stone that tried to touch it had been cast aside, I found myself growing dark again as I moved, my body feeling far too hot and heavy to move. I remember, I remember Celia dragging me. She could have left me. She could have let me die, but instead she pulled me through to the obelisk and both of us faded away just as the cave began rumbling. Portals, teleportation, I hated it all. My stomach felt light, my mind felt strange, but this time I couldn't keep my eyes open. I fell into a deep sleep, but my thoughts were still there. I owed a debt to this woman now, my charge, my witch and my criminal partner. We would see to the traitor king’s men soon enough.
