In the Eyes of the Snow Leopard

For Taiko

By Draconicon

When most people thought of an explosion, they tended to think of the big, bombastic booms that echoed across movie screens or battlefields. They thought of the fireball that consumed everything that it touched, or the incinerating infernos that ignited the ignominious idiots that thought they were in control.

Those were all things that Kai Lee could create, but tonight, he settled for something smaller. A tiny, repetitive, contained explosion within the car's undercarriage that forced the dead vehicle along with the expelled heat and fires was not so visually spectacular, but it did what he needed it to do.

The snow leopard reached up, adjusting the car mirror as the flaming office building disappeared into the distance, re-arranged a few times as the city itself seemed to be trying to put the fire out, or at least remove it from those that might be hurt by it. He shook his head.

“I shouldn't have taken this contract."

He put his hands back on the wheel, the energy for the persistent percussion beneath the car flowing down the tattoos on his palms in a steady rhythm. The metal frame shook beneath him, and he doubted that it would hold together for longer than an hour, but it would get him towards the edge of the city for extraction.

That was, if certain heroes didn't cause him too much trouble first.

The roof of the car dented in, and he sighed as he looked up at it.

“Fair warning. I am having a very bad day."

“You're not getting away tonight, criminal!"

The snow leopard sighed, pulling the car over to the side of the road. As he let the explosions underneath die off, the car came to a stop, and Kai Lee reached down to his gloves. He gently dragged the plain white pair off, and reached into the glove compartment, dragging a second, black pair on.

By the time he'd done that, the rhino on the car had leaped off, the purple-spandex wearing vigilante leaning in through the window.

“You're under arrest."

Kai Lee turned towards the rhino, and fixed him with a stare. A quick glance caught the emblem of an anvil on his chest – likely his callsign – as well as a nervous tick in his arm. Strong, but worried. Didn't know what the man he was chasing was capable of, most likely. He shook his head.

“No. I'm not."

“What do you mean? You just bombed a building!"

“Correction. I destroyed an office, and two individuals that were processing bio-technology through the use of kidnapped homeless men and women, and serving as competition to my company."

“You killed two people!"

“I eliminated a pair of murderers, embezzlers, and troublemakers."

“…What is wrong with you? Out of the car!"

The snow leopard shook his head. No sooner had he done that, however, than the door was ripped off of its hinges. One hand reached for him –

Boom!

The rhino – Anvil, as he was probably called – flew back by over a dozen feet, clutching his wrist in his other hand, as Kai Lee waved his hand through the bit of smoke leftover from the explosion. He leaned back, putting his hand back on the wheel. The combustion beneath the car started up again, and this time when he looked at the rhino, he narrowed his eyes, feeling them 'spin.'

“I already removed my targets. No one else will be harmed tonight, as long as I am left alone. Stay. There."

He held the stare until the rhino nodded, then drove off, clattering and clanking down the road. Probably only had a half-hour left until the thing exploded, now, thanks to Anvil's efforts, but he supposed it could have been worse.

#

The car eventually gave out, thankfully at an out of the way intersection rather than while it was screaming down the road. The lost door became a blessing, as he could just walk out of the burning vehicle rather than fighting it, and the snow leopard walked down the sidewalk, shaking his head as he straightened his suit.

He was quite aware of how out of place he was in this neighborhood. Small, not-quite-rundown apartments all around him, with little corner-stores on literally every corner, and there he was, immaculately groomed with a white suit and polished black shoes. He'd need to find a hiding place or a ride out as soon as possible.

The latter seemed unlikely. Though there were cars on the street, they looked too valuable to try and steal. The owners would have done something with them to keep their one valuable thing close, and he wasn't about to try something like that. That left hiding.

Kai Lee walked over to one of the apartment buildings. It was a good five stories tall, and it was one of the bigger buildings in the area. Some lights were on, some weren't, and it had a wall around it. Not quite a penthouse room in the local Hilton, but it would do.

Scaling the walls was no challenge, and scaling the side of the building only slightly less so. Wherever he placed his palm, the wall deformed, crushing inwards enough to form a handhold, and he climbed up the side of the building until he reached the fifth floor. The balcony he aimed for was dark, unlike its neighbors, and the door –

Unlocked…

“Hmmm…"

The snow leopard hummed to himself as he pushed it open, shaking his head. Either the building security were rather lax, or someone was here, just sleeping, or didn't bother with the lights. Either way, it meant that this wasn't as good a choice as it could have been.

No time to try another place, though. Looking over his shoulder, he could see the outlines of flying superheroes looking for the culprit, and despite his confidence in his abilities, the chance of causing a bigger scene by forcing the confrontation was not one he wanted to take. Not with the way that things were going now.

He slipped inside, and shut the sliding door behind him.

Not bothering with the lights – he didn't need them – he made his way past an empty living room towards the hallway. A glance in the kitchen showed that the apartment was occupied, much to his annoyance, and there was a bedroom that was filled with all the things that should have been in the living room, as well.

Sloppy. Rather sloppy.

Kai Lee's ears perked up as he heard the sound of running water, and he returned to the hallway. He followed it towards the front door, and turned left at the last minute. The bathroom was closed, and as he tested the doorknob, he found it locked.

A tiny explosion in the center of the knob took care of that quickly and quietly. He opened the door just as silently, stepped inside, and shut it behind him before any appreciable amount of steam could escape.

He leaned against the door as he looked at the apartment's apparent occupant in the shower. The human was fairly tall, though not a giant, and had a series of long, snake-like locks running down his head. Muscle bulges ran along his shoulders and down his back, and the feline admitted that the human had an appreciable rear, as well.

As the dark-skinned male turned, the snow leopard shook his head. He needed to neutralize him, and quickly. He could take time to enjoy his body later.

The human turned with a start as the feline opened the shower door, but Kai Lee already had his eyes 'spinning,' and the human was soon slumped back against the shower wall.

“You will remain here until I finish my business. You will not move, you will not speak, and you will not attempt to get anyone's attention. Do you understand?"

“Yeah…"

“Remain here. I will return."

Reaching out to turn off the water, he left the human where he was, and left the bathroom. The command would hold for a little while, at least, and he doubted that the phone call would take that long.

If the human had a phone, that was…

He spent almost five minutes rooting through the apartment before finally finding it, buried under a pile of dirty clothes in the human's bedroom. Shaking his head, he quickly dialed in the contact's phone number, and pressed the earpiece to his head. It rang twice before the person on the other end picked up.

“Hello –"

“KL calling for extraction."

“Oh, it's you, then."

“I repeat. KL calling for extraction."

“What's your hurry? I think that we can talk a bit. What happened? Did you get the target?"

“I did. And you're stalling for something. What?"

“What do you mean, stalling? All I want to do is confirm the details of what –"

“You've been found out."

He heard the catch of breath on the other end, and he immediately hung up. The soft click of the phone coming down was as effective as it being slammed down, and he sighed.

Should have arranged this through my own people, instead of outsiders, he thought as he sat down on the side of the bed, hands clasped as he considered his options.

If his informant was caught, that meant that he could be implicated in what was going on. The deaths of two competitors wouldn't have been a problem in Kusan City, but he was in Novus Ager, now. The laws were different here, and he couldn't rely on the immediate extraction that he was hoping for.

He could get some help from his own people now, as there were plenty of loyal employees back home, but that would take longer. The informant had had several things ready for him to leave immediately, and so he hadn't put together his own things. A slip, on his part. He'd have to make a note not to do it again.

Picking up the phone, he dialed across the world to his home office. The secretary would pick up later, and she would get the message to get to work. There would be some sort of extraction assembled – clumsy, if he knew anything about how his own people worked – but it would be ready by the end of the weekend.

The problem was…what did he do until then?

He looked out the window again, spotting some sirens coming down the streets as well as the heroes from earlier. There was no way that he could get back to the city center, now. Not until the city re-arranged itself again, anyway, and possibly not even then. He hadn't been that careful with the security cameras, considering this was meant to be a one-time stop, so they'd have pictures of his face.

That meant that he'd have to lie low for the whole weekend. Not something that appealed to the snow leopard, considering the area.

But what other options do I have?

He took one breath in, one breath out, and one breath in and held it. He closed his eyes, letting his thoughts settle.

This is not the first time I've been in this situation. Remember that. This is not the first time, the tenth time, or anything so simple. People have always been hunting me. I can deal with that. I can deal with them.

He let out the breath, and when he did, his hands no longer felt so tightly clenched. It was something, at least.

With his mind racing over possibilities, he almost forgot about the human in the bathroom, and he didn't come up on the priority list until the snow leopard heard a grumbling from down the hall. Shaking his head, he stood up and walked back to the room.

The human was just getting out of the shower when Kai Lee opened the door. He jumped, but didn't bother covering himself up. Instead, he crossed his arms over his chest.

“Okay, who are you? What did you just do to me?"

“Hmm. You remember me?"

“You just barged in last time. What are you doing in my apartment?"

“I'm finding a place to hide. And this place seems suited to it."

“Hide from what?"

“I think a safe assumption would be everyone, at this point. And you're going to help me."

“Yeah, I don't think so. You want to get out of my way so I can – what are you doing?"

Kai Lee stepped forward, casually grabbing the human by the shoulder and pinning him against the wall. He felt the strength in the arms, but he was stronger. Not enough to prevent the squirming, but enough to keep him from getting free.

“You are going to help me hide. That is not a suggestion, a question, or even a statement. It is an order."

“And why…why would I do that?"

“Because you don't have a choice."

He leaned in, his eyes slowly starting to 'spin.' They didn't actually rotate in their sockets – something that his nervous system was very happy for – but even though his vision stayed mostly the same, Kai Lee was aware of a little circle on the edge of his vision starting to turn round and round. He'd watched it in the mirror, once; it was like a tiny crack in his iris started turning around when he watched.

Whatever it was, it worked as a hypnotic aid, and soon the human was starting to slump forward against his restraining arm. Kai Lee kept the 'spinning' going, staring into the human's eyes, forcing him to keep staring back.

“You will not call anyone during my stay here. You are not the owner of this place. I am. You are not the owner of your own mind. I am. You are not the owner of your own body. I am. Do you understand?"

“…"

A slightly stronger will than expected. Kai Lee leaned in further, his eyes locked with the human's, his muzzle barely an inch from the human's lips.

“You are my servant. You are mine during this weekend. I am your boss, your employer, your master. You will not do anything that will cause a problem, an obstacle, or an issue for me. Do you understand?"

“I…understand."

“You will not do any of these things. You will instead obey my commands, and do what you are told. You will do all that you can to ease my stay here, and make me as comfortable as you possibly can. Do you understand?"

“I…understand, yes…"

“Will you do it?"

“Yes."

“Who am I?"

“You are…my master…"

“I am Kai Lee. You will address me as sir, or Mr. Lee. Do you understand?"

“Yes, Mr. Lee."

“Good."

He let the spinning stop, feeling a small ache in the back of his mind for sustaining it and pushing it so hard. The fact that he could control others notwithstanding, it still made for a hell of a headache when he pushed it too far. The snow leopard pulled away, letting the human stand up normally.

“Go about your evening as you would, normally. I will take your bed for a rest. Wake me when the morning comes, in a way that you believe will make me content."

Kai Lee walked back to the bedroom, threw as much of the dirty things off of the bed as he could, and then began undressing. The suit was too clean to bother throwing on the floor, but there were no hangers. He sighed, contenting himself to using an open closet door as something to hang the jacket and the pants off of. He could have, perhaps, made a few hangers, but he didn't want to push his energy when he didn't know if he'd need to fight.

The feline stripped himself down to nothing, and then laid himself down, closing his eyes and drifting off almost immediately.

#

Morning came quickly, and he was awoken by something that he didn't entirely expect.

Hmmm? he thought as he opened one eye, feeling something warm and wet rubbing beneath his stumpy tail. The snow leopard lifted his head and looked over his shoulders, and arched an eyebrow.

The dark-skinned human had his head buried beneath his rump, busy dragging his tongue between Kai Lee's cheeks. He felt every lick, dragging from his sack all the way to his hole, and he had to admit, it was a better feeling than he quite expected.

He leaned forward, allowing the human's hands to lift his rump up a little bit higher. The tongue worked over his hole a little more accurately, swiping from side to side and teasing his rim in a way that he hadn't felt for some time. The fingers never came close to his hole, and he never felt anything pushing in, just licking over it.

“Hmmm, I suppose this is a better way to wake up than most," he admitted.

“Thank you, Mr. Lee."

“Don't stop licking, servant. I don't want to hear you speak. I just want to hear your tongue."

The human nodded, going back to work. The snow leopard allowed himself a small smile as he felt the devotion in the human. Quite eager to work like this, it seemed; perhaps this human's occupation was already in the service industry. Certainly a better pick than a random human that was nothing more than a laborer.

He rested his head on his hands as the human worked his tongue in deeper and deeper, forcing his furry cheeks apart. Even when the tongue started prodding his hole, Kai Lee allowed it, knowing that nothing further would happen. Even if the human did break through the hypnotic hold he had, there would be nothing he could do that the snow leopard couldn't stop.

Warm wetness slid into him, and he let out a soft sigh as his hole was tongued out, filled with something slippery and eager before it was pulled back. Then in, then out. He let himself enjoy it a few more times before he snapped his fingers.

Instantly, the human sat up, pulling his head away.

“Good."

Kai Lee got to his feet, walking over to the bathroom to wipe away the slimy feeling that was left behind after the rimming had stopped. He made sure that he was completely dry back there, and then looked down at himself.

The human's efforts had done quite a bit. His cock was standing out hard, throbbing at a good ten inches, and the barbs at the tip were already quite attentive, looking to be tended to. He shook his head.

This is going to ruin my concentration, if I don't tend to it.

“Servant."

The human was there in a flash, standing at attention at the bathroom door. A glance at him told the feline that the human had been enjoying his tasks as well, if that throbbing, dark cock was anything to go by. Just an inch shorter than his own shaft, it looked like quite the monster of a thing.

But that wasn't what he was interested in.

“Living room."

It didn't take long to get things situated, and soon, he was sitting on the edge of a pile of clothes – clean ones – as the human 'danced' for him.

Hmmm…he is quite eager to please, even without full force hypnosis, the snow leopard admitted, watching as the human swayed his hips, moving back and forth in the middle of the room and showing off his chocolate-colored rump. His body was smooth and graceful, and surprisingly artistic in a visual way.

He approved.

Kai Lee leaned back, letting himself take in the show that was going on. As the human swayed his hips back and forth, he reached back for the cheeks and parted them for the feline's viewing pleasure. A tight, pink pucker waited between them, looking so light compared to the rest of the body, and he shook his head. Not much use there, but that would be valuable in its own way.

He watched the dance for perhaps five minutes before he reached down to tend to himself. When he stroked himself, he did it in as efficient a way as he possibly could, dragging his hand up and down at high speed. There was no teasing, no luxuriating as some of his people would have done. This was something to get it done and over with as fast as possible, so he could get back to work.

It didn't take long for the human to notice what was going on, and he backed up slowly, pushing himself closer and closer until Kai Lee's cock was almost touching him. The feline blinked in surprise as that rear was pressed almost up against his shaft, and shook his head.

“There are surprises – mmmph – everywhere, it seems…"

He ground his cock against the human's rear, sliding it between the cheeks twice before he went over the edge. The splattering mess went everywhere, and those chocolate globes were glazed with his seed.

Standing up as his shaft started going soft, he pointed to the pile of clothes.

“Get dressed. When you're finished, you will come to me for a list of things that you will go out and buy, as well as the money to purchase them. You will not tell anyone of my presence here, and you will not do anything to compromise yourself. Do you understand?"

“Yes, Mr. Lee."

“Good."

As the human started getting dressed – not even removing the stain of the snow leopard's seed on his rump – Kai Lee returned to the bedroom. He pulled out a small clip from his pants pocket, and pulled three hundred dollars out of the bundle. It was more than enough for the purchase list, but he wanted to make sure that the human didn't skimp on anything.

The list itself was fairly simple. A bow-tie, a couple of pieces of clothing, certain foods, a few pieces of metal…and thirty pounds of live seafood.

He passed it to the human as he walked in, and there was only the slightest look of surprise on his face as he took the money and the paper. As the human left, he cleared his throat.

“Servant."

“Yes, Mr. Lee?"

“What is your name?"

“Darren, Mr. Lee."

“Good. On your way."

He wasn't quite sure why he bothered to ask, but he put it out of his mind. He had other things to focus on…

#

When the human returned, he got to work. The seafood was the first thing, a means of restoration. He emptied them into the sink, shut the bathroom door, and put his hands in after them.

As the room glowed red, he felt their life force responding to his own power. His hands dissolved, turning into something darker, something creeping and crimson, before spearing into the fish. They died, one by one, quickly and painlessly as he sapped away their life force.

By the time he was done, he felt…restored. As close to normal as he could be, he supposed.

The metal, he took and began reforming it, repurposing it. As he did, he couldn't help but smile a little.

They gave me the ability to destroy, and I turned it into the ability to create, he thought as the small bars of metal became something more useful. Half of them were turned into hangers, a quarter into a series of straps and restrains, and the remaining quarter –

“Why are you locking the door, Mr. Lee?"

The snow leopard shrugged as he fitted the door with a good three extra locks, using the remaining metal to reinforce the door itself, giving it a steel core. It was a little tricky, boring a hole into the middle of it that would allow the shifting metal to slide in and replace it, but it was worth it.

“I want to make sure that my dwelling is safe. A strong door maintains a certain level of…quality, after all."

“I guess…"

He turned around, looking the human over. Darren had responded to his orders quite well. Rather than clothes, he wore a bow-tie around his neck, and other than that, very little. Yes, there was something of a thin jockstrap that he wore, keeping his front covered and his back-end exposed, but that was the limit.

I might consider making this a part of the dress code for my personal aides, he thought as he finished fixing the door. There's a certain…charm, to this look.

But he made sure that he finished with the door before doing anything else. With what he'd done, it had become stronger than the wall around it, which was its own security risk, but he doubted that a hero would be so willing to blow out a wall when they knew civilians were around.

As soon as he was done, though, he gave Darren a small pat on the shoulder.

“I believe it is almost time for lunch. I will do us both a favor and cook it."

“I thought I was supposed to do the work, Mr. Lee?"

“You are, but I looked through the pantry while you were gone. I am not one to settle for instant ramen, servant. I will cook."

It didn't take long to get everything properly prepared. The fish that Darren had brought back were quite high quality, after all, and there were pans and such to be used for cooking. They didn't look used in the slightest, of course, but that didn't mean that they weren't useful.

Kai Lee was quite aware of his mistakes as he cooked; a few burned pieces of meat were nudged off to the side, and he shook his head at the remnants, perhaps two-thirds of what had gone into the pain. Ugly in presentation, but it would serve well enough for sustenance. And it would be better than the noodles, by far.

He brought out a plate for the human and sat down on the floor opposite him. The feline devoured his own plate and went back for seconds before the human had finished with his first serving, and was at the end of his second plate before the human finished his first. Before he could go for more, however, Darren cleared his throat.

“May I ask a question, Mr. Lee?"

“…Tell me the context."

“I'd like to know why you're here."

“It doesn't matter to you."

“I don't want to judge, Mr. Lee, I just…would like to know."

“And why is that? Does it really matter?"

“Not really. But considering that I'm bending over for you and doing everything I can, I'd like to know who I'm doing it for."

“…"

The snow leopard considered forcing the issue, pushing the human to forget about it, but at the same time, it wasn't an unfair question. And if the worst came to worst, he could wipe it from Darren's mind anyway.

He set his plate down, and leaned forward.

“I came to Novus Ager to kill two people."

“I know."

“I'm not surprised. They were passing out the pictures on the news, and I doubt that you went anywhere without seeing it. What did you think?"

“I thought that I should be scared."

“You're right."

“I thought that I could be killed."

“You're right with that, as well."

“And I wondered…why did you kill them? I don't know who they were, but, did they matter to you?"

The snow leopard slowly nodded.

“They did, yes. Not in a good way, but they mattered."

“Why?"

“Because they weren't just killers in their own right. They were part of a group that were doing worse things. A group that I want to find."

“…"

“You want to know, but you're not asking."

“I don't think this part is something I want to know, Mr. Lee."

“You learn quickly, servant. You learn quickly indeed."

He nodded, getting up and taking his plate – and Darren's – back to the kitchen. He loaded them into the dishwasher before turning around and taking a couple of deep breaths again, holding it on the last breath in.

A day will come when they stop lingering on the edges of my attention, and I can live my life normally again. But until they decide to stop hunting me, I will continue hunting them…

He let his breath out, and then walked back into the living room. Darren was on his knees, looking up, and something about the way that he just…stared…felt strange to the snow leopard. Kai Lee walked over to him, looking down.

“Why are you looking at me that way?"

“I'm trying to figure out what you need, Mr. Lee."

“Why?"

“Because that's what I'm supposed to do. You want me to be your servant, and…servants are supposed to anticipate what their masters want."

“…What were you doing, before I came here?"

“I was getting ready for work at the big hotel in the city center."

“You are a waste, there."

This human had taken to the role of manservant with a will, knowing where to hold his tongue and when to ask his questions, how to be respectful and how to obey and interpret orders properly. There was something to him that exceeded the rest of his kind in a major way, and Kai Lee found himself wanting it.

He pointed to the ground, and Darren immediately lowered himself to the floor. As soon as the human was flat, Kai Lee kicked off a shoe, and placed his foot on the human's chest.

“This will be warm, but it will not harm you."

It was a series of micro-detonations among the skin cells, not killing them, but 'tanning' them with the heat of various explosions. The human winced slightly, but Kai Lee knew that it wasn't pain, but surprise.

He pulled his foot back, leaving behind a paw print on the human's chest. A good mark, he thought.

“That will remain for my time here, and afterwards. I am still debating whether you will be left behind; you seem too…valuable…to simply leave here as a hotel worker."

“I…don't know what to say, Mr. Lee."

“I think that there is less time to be saying things, and more time to be doing them. You have aroused me again; tend to it."

“Yes, Mr. Lee."

Darren sat up and reached for his pants, and the snow leopard closed his eyes as the human unbuttoned his pants. There was something about this man that was making him more eager than he should, and it both bothered him and impressed him at the same time. At least he had an outlet for his lusts, however, and, as Darren's tongue reminded him, it was a most skilled outlet indeed.
