Trillia and Drey work on healing their relationship and move toward their destiny. This is the last chapter in this story. I will be posting an epilogue in the next week or so. Watch for my newest story, Lena's Dragon, coming soon!
The next morning Trillia cuddles up to Drey enjoying the warmth radiating off of him. She hears a purr rumbling up from within and presses her ear against his chest plate. "Mmmmm, I love that sound."
He chuckles, "I take it you aren't mad at me anymore?"
She sighs, "I wasn't really mad at you just at everything else." She feels him growing out of his sheath between them and her breath catches. Can she be with him, like that, now?
He starts to pull away and she throws her arm and leg over him. "No, please don't move. I'm sorry, part of me really wants to but, I... I don't know if I can just yet. That doesn't mean I don't want to. I just think I need a little bit of time. Is that okay?"
He nuzzles the top of her head. "Of course it's okay. I know you've been through a lot, I won't rush you."
She let out a huge breath that she hadn't realized she was holding. "Thank you, that means so much to me."
"I love you, Trillia, and I just want you to be happy. I'm thrilled to be with you again. I, unfortunately, was very aware of every single second I was away from you, well mostly. There were times when I think she made me forget you but only when... I'm sorry I shouldn't have brought that up."
"It's okay. It is part of who you are now; you had that experience and it can't be undone. Just like I had the experience that I had and it can't be undone. We are going to have to figure out a way we can live with it and still be ourselves."
"I'll follow your lead as I usually do." He chuckles.
She cannot help but remember their first time and how he had let her lead. She snuggles into him, still wanting to be close even if she is not quite ready for the rest of it.
"What would you like to do today, Trillia?"
"Mmmmm, can't we just stay here all day?"
He laughs and nuzzles her head and neck. "Most definitely but at some point we will need to hunt."
Her stomach growls in that moment and she laughs. "You're right."
She sits up and he can't resist, he licks up her back and over her shoulder to her neck. She shivers.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have..."
"No, I liked it. Never stop touching me, Drey. I love your touch I'm just not ready for all of it, yet."
He nuzzles her neck and licks and lightly bites, sending goose bumps running over her whole body. "Ooooh... Drey, that..." She moans as he continues running his tongue over her neck and shoulders. His paw lifts her hair and he licks the back of her neck. She shudders and moans and then her belly grumbles again. They both laugh.
"Come on..." He rumbles. "Let's go hunt. We can pick up where we left off after you are fed."
She turns and hugs his neck, kissing his muzzle and then running her tongue over his lip. He shudders. "Woman, if you are going to eat you need to stop that this instant." He groans as her tongue traces around his lips and when his tongue slightly sticks out she lightly nips it. He growls and picks her up and carries her to the front of the cave as she giggles.
When they reach the opening he growls, "Shift."
"Yes, sir." She says, wiggling and then shifting.
They fly out over their territory, gliding along until she sees a boar and remembers the night before all this began. She lets out a long breath. : I missed you Drey, so much. When I woke up that morning and realized I'd been taken away from you, it hurt more than I thought possible. :
: I felt the same when I woke up and you were gone. I never hurt so much in my life. :
She dives down, kills the boar, lifts it up and flies it to the grassy area by the lake. They both land and she slices open the boar, spears the heart out of it and hands it out to Drey. He gently pulls it into his mouth. He spears the liver and hands it out to her and she gently takes it with her mouth. They sit and eat in silence, feeding each other, enjoying the sun and the view of the lake.
When they finish eating she shifts back into her human form and runs into the lake. He laughs at her antics as she splashes water at him. "Come on, you know you need a bath. You still have a bit of a stench on you, you smell like her." She frowns a little but forces herself to let it go.
He lumbers over and puts his hind paw in the water. "It's cold." He whines.
She splashes him. "Don't be a hatchling."
He sticks his tongue out at her.
"Bring that tongue over here." She grins at him knowing he would love for her to let him do things with his tongue.
"You know dragons can't swim." His frills move forward and then back.
"Only come out as far as you can walk. I'm standing on the ground here and you are definitely taller than I am." Her head is just above the water and then she kicks off the ground treading water.
He grumbles but he slowly makes his way out to her. He certainly won't have to worry about growing out of his sheath in this water.
He finally stands near her and she wraps her arms around his neck. She must have treaded out a little farther as only his long neck and head are above water.
"Don't worry, hatchling, it doesn't drop off for another twenty feet." She teases.
He is not worried as he will not be going any further than where he is now. She leans her head against his shoulder and just hangs on to him for awhile. She starts rubbing his scales with the water wishing she had thought to bring a rag with her so she could really scrub him. She splashes water up onto his neck.
"Hey..."
"I told you, you smell like her. I'm just trying to wash it off which is kind of hard to do without a rag and soap."
"Wait here." He lumbers back to the shoreline, shakes his body and then takes flight. It isn't long before he is back with a rag and even soap.
"Where in the world did you find soap?"
"I had gathered a few things for you, before, and was going to surprise you with it the next time we were home."
Her heart expanded. "You are the most thoughtful, loving dragon a shifter maiden could ever have."
He grins. "Glad you noticed."
"Oh you, get back out here so I can wash you up. Actually..." She makes her way to a few feet from the shoreline. "Just come out to here and sit down. I can wash you better outside of the water."
He did as she commanded and she wets the rag wrapped soap and proceeds to scrub every single scale. She finally stands back to look at him and laughs.
"What's so funny?"
"You, you are all sudsy. Come on, let's get you rinsed off." He slowly follows her into deeper water until only his head and neck are above the water line again. "Sit down so I can get all of your neck rinsed off." He huffs but does as she says. When every bit of soap is off of him she pulls herself up and kisses his muzzle. "Now you smell better." She went back for the rag and soap and quickly gives her own body a good scrubbing and rinse.
He sits in the water watching her as a low purr rumbles out of his chest; he always loves watching her.
"I'm done ready to go back home?" He moves as quickly as he is able and steps out of the water. She laughs. "I'll take that as a yes." She shifts and they fly home. She shifts back as soon as they land in front of the cave and she quickly makes her way back to the blankets and burrows under them. She is a little cold from bathing in the lake. He curls up next to her, his body heat radiating off of him and she snuggles up to him. "You are always so warm." She yawns and it is not but a moment until she is snoring softly. He chuckles and nuzzles her head.
*****
Drey wakes up and jerks as he looks down and sees Trillia licking along his speared tip.
"Shhhh, I'm just experimenting." She whispers.
He lays back and closes his eyes. Her tongue is flicking across it, making it twitch and slowly climb its way out of the sheath. His hind paws curl as she nibbles over the tip and his forepaws dig into the blankets on each side of him. He feels her reach down and cup his sack, rolling his jewels around within it. He forces himself to be quiet knowing she will not hurt them. Her tongue slides down the length of him as he is fully unsheathed and she gently squeezes until he is gasping for breath.
"Shhhhh... relax and let me explore."
Relax, she says. Sure, easy for her to say. He takes a deep long breath but it doesn't help as she slides her tongue back up and over the tip, pushing into his hole and squeezing his sack even harder.
"Trillia..." He begs.
"Shhhhh..."
She lightly bites around the tip as her tongue is pushing into the hole, still holding his sack quite firmly as her other hand glides up and down his shaft. His hind paws are rubbing back and forth on the blankets and curling up. She rubs her teeth over the tip as she continues pushing her tongue into the hole.
She feels his sack tighten and his shaft get even harder. Knowing he is about to have an orgasm, she moves her mouth to the side, still rubbing her teeth over him and sliding her tongue around.
"Trillia!" He shouts her name as his orgasm explodes through him. She continues stroking him, licking him, and rolling his jewels around within his sack, milking every last drop out of him. She grabs one of the smaller blankets and wipes him up.
"We can take that to the stream later and wash it out."
"Hmmmm..." He rumbles still floating in the aftermath.
She climbs up onto him and lays her head at the crook of his neck. His paw comes up and rubs over her back.
"Mmmmm… thank you sweet Trillia."
"You're welcome, Drey."
"Do you think I could return the favor?"
"Hmmm, you mean in a similar way?"
"Yes..."
She nods her head.
He props himself up a bit, slowly maneuvers her body around so she is turned, face up and her legs on each side of his neck. One forepaw slides up her belly and over her breasts. Her arms cross over it holding him tightly to her. His other gently pushes her right leg further out and his tongue flicks up between her folds.
Trillia moans as the sensation shoots heat up through her body. His tongue pushes up through the folds and presses on her nub. She squirms feeling the ache between her legs grow. His tongue slides down and pushes into her moist heat. Her body is on fire and her breath quickens.
Drey pushes his tongue deeper into her and she pushes toward him, wanting more. One of her hands reaches down and her fingers lightly stroke over her nub. Deep moaning sounds are coming out of her as her whole body arches. "Drey!" She shouts as her orgasm explodes through her. He gently pulls his tongue out and slides it up, moving her fingers as he presses against her nub. She trembles as her body slowly relaxes. He pulls her up toward him, lying her beside him, curling around her, and purrs.
"Mmmmm… thank you, Drey."
"You are most welcome, Trillia."
She drifts off to sleep. She sure seems to be sleeping a lot but he imagines it is a way for her body and mind to cope with everything that has happened.
Drey lies awake for a long time, thinking about Trillia, the Sorceress, and everything she told him. He knows Trillia isn't ready yet, but she seems to be healing faster than he first thought she would.
*****
Trillia slept through the early evening all the way to the next morning. It was the longest she had slept, well she could not remember the last time she slept that long.
"You are good for me Drey, I'm sleeping better next to you than I've probably slept in a year."
"Mmmm, that's nice to hear, Trillia."
She starts gathering up all the blankets within one blanket and ties it off.
"What are you doing? He asks her.
"These need to be washed, desperately. Not only have they probably not been cleaned since you brought them here, but they laid here for a year collecting dust and moisture. They need cleaning."
"Oh alright, if you insist."
"What, don't you want to lie on clean blankets?"
"I think it is different for dragons."
She looks at him sideways.
"For full dragons who never shift we like our scents on our sleeping blankets. It comforts us and helps us to sleep. When they are washed they don't have our scent on them anymore, it's discomforting."
"Oh, I'm sorry Drey. Here," She pulls out one blanket from the bundle. "We can leave one that you can have up near your muzzle so you can smell it."
He grins, "That's very kind of you, Trillia."
"Not everything is about me and I want you to be happy too."
They fly the blankets down to the stream and spend the next hour washing them up. They wring them out as much as they can and then lay them out in the sun to dry. They both lie on the grass and look up at the clouds.
"Look, see that one over there," She points to her left. "It looks like a bear."
"Hmmm," He rumbles. "I think I see it. What about that one over there, it looks like a woman riding a snake." He points to the right.
"It does not, you just can't think of anything else but the snake between your legs." She chuckles.
"And the problem is? Besides, it's kind of your fault after yesterday and how you woke me up." He rumbles a deep purr. "It was wonderful."
Her hand reaches out and strokes his foreleg. "I know you are being patient and I really appreciate it."
"I am a saint, aren't I?" He chuckles.
She pushes on him. "Don't press your luck, Drey."
"Do you want to talk about any of it, Trillia, what happened while you were with... them?"
"Not really, mostly I try not to think about them. It was so hard when I first came to live with Benoria and Rantalian. They were great. They gave me just the right amount of space and held me close when I needed it. But the mark still had a hold of me back then, and I stayed in that weird between shape for a good bit after coming back." She let out a long breath. "But over time when I figured out what was going on, I was able to break the cycle and I was actually doing much better when you showed up." She swallows hard. "Remembering everything again, seeing everything for what it really was, it was so hard."
"How was it for you, while I... reciprocated?"
"It was wonderful, Drey, you are wonderful."
"You didn't have any flashbacks or have trouble thinking about them during..."
"No, not at all. Maybe because it was so different, maybe because what I have with you is real. I don't know I'm just glad they didn't come up at all. I was a little nervous but that was it."
"I'm so relieved to hear that. It was the same for me. I was a little worried that the Sorceress would pop into my head when we are together but she didn't at all, my focus was completely on you and the delicious things you were doing to me." He grins, remembering.
"You were worried about it too? Why?"
"Oh, um, well she does something that makes it, I don't know, ten times more intense than usual. All you can do is be there in that moment, without thought, only feeling." He was worried she was going to get angry again but all he saw in her face was curiosity.
"Yes, that's how it was for me as well. It was so intense I couldn't think of anything but having them and everything was so, yeah." She shudders as what they really looked like and felt like went through her and she had to swallow down a little bile. "Now, thankfully, I see it for what it was and it only makes me want to vomit."
"That's good. Well, not good, but I'm glad you can see it for what it was."
"Do you miss how intense it was with her?" Trillia looks up at the clouds, afraid to look at him, afraid of what she might see in his eyes.
"The only thing I miss is being with you as we were before this whole mess started."
Relief floods through her. She hadn't realized how worried she had been that he preferred being with the Sorceress. She sits up and leans against his side and he wraps his foreleg around her.
"I miss that too, Drey." She lays her head back on his chest plate and looks up at the sky. "I would give anything to turn back the clock and have kept my mouth shut and the two of us had just stayed in our cave together."
"No, Trillia, as much as I wish none of the bad stuff happened, we did good by bringing together Banoria and Rantalian as well as the others. When you're ready, we need to continue bringing more of them together."
"You don't want to just stay here with me, playing all day?" There was sadness in her voice.
"I know there will be time for that in the future, right now you need to heal and then we need to get back to work. The threat of the wizard is gone but we still need to help bring together the mates so we can..."
"I know, repopulate the dragons." She sighs.
That wasn't what he was about to say but it's a good thing she interrupted him as he was about to give some of what the Sorceress had told him away without meaning too.
He nuzzles at her head with his muzzle. "There's no hurry, Trillia, you are what's most important to me; your life, your welfare, and your happiness."
She presses her head into his muzzle and his tongue flicks out and lightly touches his mark on her shoulder. She sighs as the warmth of his love washes over her. She stares up at the sky as she remembers their time together before and now. How he has always been whatever she needs, patient, loving, kind, and yes, even rough when that is what she wanted.
She smiles and turns to him. "I love you, Drey, more than any words I could ever speak." Her hand reaches up and strokes his neck.
"Sweet Trillia, you make my heart grow every single day."
She moves back and shifts. : Follow me, Drey. :
: Always. :
She flies straight back to the cave, stays in her dragon form and waits for him on the blankets.
He lumbers in and sees her, the way she's looking at him, still in dragon form and he knows.
: Are you sure, my love? : He suddenly remembers he wasn't supposed to call her that but she is smiling.
: Yes, I'm sure. :
They take their time, exploring each other thoroughly, nuzzling, licking, until they work each other into a frenzy. He holds himself back though, worried she is rushing but then she bites him, hard, and growls. : Dreyerelsnik, I want you now. :
: Mmmmm, yes ma'am. :
She turns over and sticks her haunches in the air, pulling her tail to the side, and he chuckles. He climbs up and gently pushes into her. She growls. He knows she is tired of him being gentle and he growls back, biting into his mark and thrusts hard and fast into her. She purrs loudly as he roughly takes her, biting deeper into her shoulder, pouring all of his love into her with every thrust.
*****
"You, Trillia, are the strongest of my daughters that I've ever produced. You have withstood more in your short life and still stand strong. I watched you as you grew up and when they sent you out to pull a stick from the tree, you refused to be frightened. They could never break you no matter how many times they hit you." The Sorceress softly smiles at her.
Trillia is seething. The Sorceress knew what was happening to her but never stopped it. She holds her tongue and continues to listen.
"You sacrificed yourself for the other shifter maidens and they all love you for it." The Sorceress turns toward Drey. "Drey is a direct descendent to the King of Dragons and proved he was willing to do what was best for the good of all when he gave up a year of his life to me for the dragons and their mates."
"Wait, what?" This was news to Trillia but Drey's expression never changes. "So this is what she told you before, that you are desended from a King?"
"Not just any King, the King of the Dragons. He was the only one and had been from the beginning of time until my mother, Earth Goddess Lemura, broke his heart."
"Are you telling me that my grandmother is a Goddess?" The color drains from Trillia's face and she quickly sits down on a bench as she cannot feel her legs. "The wizard didn't say anything about that in his journal."
The Sorceress looks away from her, she has refused to answer any of Trillia's questions about the wizard and it is quite infuriating.
"As I was saying, after my mother was forbidden to see the Dragon King because she was pregnant with me, the King slowly went out of his mind grieving her loss. The four dragon tribes quickly began falling apart over the next fifty or so years, there was a great war between the tribes that did not end well and after that the dragons began going off on their own, what was left of them anyway. The wizard cursed the dragons just before the war and a representative from each tribe came together and called upon the Goddess to help them break the curse. She sent me to help them. Before then I had been secretly bringing one of their dragons to my castle for a year and then I would cast a memory spell on them so no one would know of me. My mother had warned me it would not be safe if anyone, human or dragon, knew of me. She was worried they would be fearful and might try to harm me. I have kept that secret until I told Drey." The Sorceress smiles fondly at Drey.
Trillia gets up and stands in front of him, frowning at the Sorceress. "Don't... I still haven't forgiven you for keeping him from me for a year and... doing what you did with him."
Drey reaches out and strokes his paw pad down her back. "I am yours now, my love, and I've always been only yours."
Trillia leans against him and lets out a long breath.
"So you see," The Sorceress continues as if neither of them had spoken. "I have chosen the two of you to recreate the four tribes and to claim the dragon kingdom once again."
They were suddenly standing in a large cave opening overlooking a jungle that had broken stone structures poking up out of it. “This is the entrance to his palace. Unfortunately it and the old city below needs much repair."
"You, Trillia, will gather all of the shifter maidens. You know how to find them now, have your shifter maidens go to the villages and have them produce a list of the names of the babies that were dropped off and then gather them and bring them here. Drey, you will have your dragons that are mated with the shifter maidens, go out and find every dragon you can find and bring them back here. Tell them they will find their mates here and they will come. You two will rebuild what my mother unthinkingly destroyed.
Trillia sits down in the dirt on the landing jutting out from the Palace opening which she had thought was just a cave. Her mind is swimming with all the information the Sorceress, her mother, had just given to them.
Goddesses and Kings... she was a simple girl from a village who had the courage to mate with a dragon. What does she know about helping to rule dragons and shifter maidens?
"You are much more than a simple girl." The Sorceress scolds Trillia. “You are the strongest and bravest of all the shifter maidens and they love and trust you. They will follow you no matter where you go, you just have to direct them, and give them something that will bind them together." The Sorceress turns and spreads her hand out encompassing the broken city below.
Drey has heard all of this before but it is now sinking in as it is actually time to claim who they are and begin the long journey of rebuilding the dragon tribes. He lets out a loud sigh. Trillia looks up at him and smiles. She stands up and leans into him. His head comes down and rests against hers.
"You and me, Drey, are you up for this? Do you think we can do this?" She quietly asks him.
"Sweet Trillia, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to and I will do whatever is necessary to make sure you are happy all the rest of the days of your life." Her hands stroke his muzzle and he purrs.
Trillia, still leaning against him, turns her head toward the Sorceress. "Alright, what do we need to do?"
“Both of you gather the shifter maidens and their mates. Tell them what they need to do, show them this place and send them out. You two must stay here and begin to rebuild. As the others begin to show up you will put them to work."
They suddenly find themselves down in the jungle below in front of a dry fountain. The Sorceress waves her hand over it and water bubbles up through a dragon statue, out its mouth and into the small pool around it. "This is where the elders of the four tribes and the King would come together to bless the tribes for the coming year. Clear this area as this is where you will hold your first meetings. It is sacred ground and was blessed by the King and the four elders."
Trillia and Drey are left standing there alone as the Sorceress is suddenly gone in a swirl of lights.
*****
Trillia had convinced Drey they should each take half of the mated pairs and bring them back, cutting their time in half. It takes Drey an extra day to return but by the time they show up Trillia and the mated pairs she had brought back already have the sacred circle cleared out. Nine dragons and nine shifter maidens sit around the circle and listen to their story.
The shifter maidens' color drains away as it sets in they are granddaughters of a Goddess.
At the end of it Rantallian stands up. "I think I speak for all of us," He makes eye contact with each of the dragons and they nod their heads. "You both have proven yourselves to be leaders who put our well being first and I will swear allegiance to you both."
Banoria stands and all the shifter maidens stand with her. "We will swear our allegiance as well." They each swear to follow, obey, and protect them without hesitation.
After the ceremony, they receive their instructions and set out; the shifter maidens go to the villages and the dragons out to find as many other dragons as they can find, hoping they can convince them to come back to the ruins.
The clearing of the ruins go a little slower with only Trillia and Drey cleaning up. “Why don't we check out the palace? I'm kind of dying to see what it looks like on the inside." Trillia flies up to the palace opening and Drey follows her.
The old king had somehow cut openings into the walls creating windows so light pours into the outer rooms. Each room is large enough for fifteen to twenty dragons to fit comfortably. Most of the rooms have been cleared out, scavengers having picked them clean. All the rooms, that is, but what must have been the king's personal rooms. Except for the dust, everything looks as if he'd just left and might be back at anytime. The largest bed they had ever seen was against the middle of the wall. The bedding crumbled at their touch. It looked like there was treasure from every part of their realm, most of which was hundreds of years old if not thousands.
They couldn't figure out why it had not been touched and then a swirl of lights and a beautiful, dark haired woman stands before them. Trillia drops to her knees as she realizes who she is.
"Stand, Granddaughter, we are family." Her voice rings through the room.
Trillia stands, staring at Goddess Lemora, who looks like she is slightly glowing.
"Has my daughter finally chosen a pair to rule the dragons once more?"
"She has, Goddess, though neither of us feels worthy of the task." Trillia responds, looking at the floor.
"Nonsense, my daughter is the brightest most magical being that has ever been seen by the human world. If she says you two are best suited to bring the tribes together again then you are both perfect for it."
A flush runs up Trillia's chest, neck, and to her face. The Goddess looks around the room with sadness in her eyes. “I loved him and it broke my heart when the Gods said I couldn't see him anymore. I tried to get him to understand within his dreams but he didn't listen." She waves her arms and the room suddenly looks as if everything is new and clean. “I hid this room from prying eyes. I wanted to save it for the two my daughter would someday find and only they would be able to see it."
She turns back to them. “His treasure is now yours, rightfully. You can use it to rebuild and to help your chosen elders rebuild the tribes." She makes eye contact, first with Trillia and then with Drey and she smiles. “You look a little like him." She says to Drey. “Love each other, stand together always and no one will ever be able to tear apart the dragon kingdom again." And then she is gone.
Trembling, Trillia sags from the loss of the Goddess's energy in the room. “Wow… that was, she is incredible."
“Yeah…" He pulls Trillia to him and nuzzles her head. He always knew Trillia was special but seeing where she came from made his heart swell even more. “She's right, you know, we can do this. Together, we can make this happen."
Trillia moves her head to the side as he nuzzles her, opening her neck to him and his tongue licks over his mark. She grins. “I think we can take a few moments and see how well this bed will hold us up before getting back to work."
“You read my mind." A chuckle rumbles up and out of him as they both move toward the bed. He knows everything is going to work out. It will take time of course, but everything will fall into place. His nostrils flare. “I can smell your heat."
“What?" Her eyebrows rise.
“It may have been awhile since I've caught scent of it but you are definitely going into heat." A low growl rumbles out of him.
“But why now after all this time?" Butterflies move through her belly at the thought of what her being in heat means. Hatchlings, they will have hatchlings. Her hands move over her stomach and she wonders if the Goddess's visit had anything to do with it. Trillia had known she was supposed to go into heat but so much time had gone by that she had begun to think something was wrong with her. She begins to sweat as a deep ache moves through her and she shifts into dragon form.
Drey looks at her with love and desire. “Because we are home, we are finally home."
