Chapter Six
By Roofles
Behind the desk, down the hall and to the left instead of right (where the dining room was) there was a heavy-set door. It was unlocked. Duncan led us down the flight of stairs leading to what I could only assume to be a basement of some sort. It was warmer down here than up above and the lights were barely on, making it hard to see.
There was a musky tinge in the air. The air flow down here wasn’t as good as above it seemed. Canines weren’t exactly unhygienic; they just let a lot more slide. Preferring to be more on the natural side. And after my conversation with Buddy, I assume other such fluffy boys decided not to shower every day just because of the effort and time it took to do so.
I nearly tripped going down the stairs being pushed from behind by Junkyard, I was sure. Unable to see, it didn’t take much for me to lose my balance as it was. Let alone for some asshole who had a number out for me.
“Hurry up!” The Doberman grumbled bitterly, hating that I was coming along with them to begin with.
Duncan was in front of me and the strong pit bull caught me easily as I fell against him. At least he didn’t seem to mind. I could feel my face red with embarrassment and anger at the Doberman. If the others weren’t here I would’ve shoved him right back. Or punched him. The line between the two was thinning by the day.
“Oh!” Duncan said looking at me confused. At least I think he was, my eyes were still adjusting. All I could make out was his eerily glowing ones in the dark. “Humans can’t see so well in the dark.” He chuckled, amused to himself. Saying it aloud as it clearly perplexed him; something he’s never needed to deal with in his life.
Lucky bastard was sure to rub that in too later on.
There were several canines, and others, that thought humans were helpless. Us without claws or fur to protect ourselves. Unable to see in the dark. Slow swimmers and runners. Others went even as far as thinking humans were inferior; along with other species in general. Everyone wanted to be top dog, it seemed.
I didn’t deny the obvious physical differences; you’d have to be an idiot not to notice a dog has fur and a human doesn’t. Or an even bigger fool to try and pretend that wasn’t the case. To think some would think certain species were less intelligent however did get to me.
“Yeah. There are so many times when Doug would stumble around when he got up to use the hydrant at night.” Hunter jumped in at my expense, laughing at my blight and deficiency. Glad to have been able to talk about something I was sure. Even Hunter didn’t like the silence that had settled in around us.
There was such an awkward tension between us that one could cut it with a literal knife I bet.
“Stupid humans.” Junkyard laughed along with them. He was far more amused by this than the other two were. Neither of them seemed to notice. Or care if they did. Only making me feel like the outcast I was.
And that bitter anger inside swelling up a bit more. It would be nice, for once, to have someone come to my defense in the matter. The constant one note joke got old, fast. Let alone when everyone else laughed along with it…
I’d be glad to be gone after this trip.
“Glad we’re all getting a kick out of it.” I just grumbled, embarrassed and flushed in the face a bit more as Duncan held one of my arms and one of my hands. Guiding me like a blind man down the last couple of steps. Even at the bottom he didn’t let go.
He must’ve been loving this. The pit bull got off on how vulnerable I was around him, I’m sure. To be fair I was rather heated at the moment. Also, I knew very little about Duncan other than he was a rough lover. The fact he was friends with Junkyard is probably what irked me most about the canine.
No one turned the lights on and for a split second I was a bit… afraid. Down here with these guys. Unable to see a damn thing. Already disgruntled and bothered about having no cell reception, unable to go back on the slopes with the storm raging out and with the whole break up with Hunter (among other things…). It left me perturbed in many ways.
“You doing ok? Want me to call your mommy? See if she also has your purse?” Duncan teased endlessly. I tried to shove my elbow into his ribs but missed and ended up hitting the brick wall making my eyes water. It didn’t help my mood any.
Junkyard laughed along at that. It was easy to direct my anger and frustration at the fucker.
He didn’t seem to notice this or found it all amusing as Duncan finally let go leaving me in half-darkness. There was a bit of light coming from the TVs on the far side of the basement; though they were in sleep mode. The floor beneath my feet was fuzzy and warm. Carpet? The first floor had hard wood. This was easier against my feet and I assumed would be far more pleasant on a dog’s paws than hard wood. It matched the second floor and our rooms above.
“How’s this?” Duncan asked after turning the light knob on a bit more, brightening up the dimly lit basement. He turned it up and down several times until someone else barked at him making the pit bull behave, at least somewhat.
It was a lot better. Even dim light was better than no light.
It was larger than I thought it would be. The stairs lead down to a carpet, furnished underground… den of sorts. There was a bar directly in front of us, several couches lines up near the far wall with pool tables and darts between us and them.
“Why is this here?” I ended up just asking. I figured this was just a ski lodge. You know, going OUTSIDE and skiing! Not staying inside, under the ground and from the looks of it playing PS4. I hadn’t played a console since I was a kid.
“It’s Max’s stuff.” Hunter explained walking past me and towards the sofa’s. I followed behind him, stopping when the lights went out. I turned around to glare at where Duncan had been, and the lights quickly turned back on. I could see his smug face smiling broadly as he joined us, whistling innocently.
The fact he knew one of my weakness bothered me to no end.
“I hate you.” I just hissed at him as Hunter went over to one of the couches. It was a fine black leather love seat. It looked like it had been used recently. There was even a PS4 controller on it still. The system was humming softly. “I take it he’s a huge gamer?” I just asked the German Shepherd. Hunter was the only one I actually liked out of the three with me.
Why did I agree to come down here, again? Fuck boredom, seriously. Made one too many bad decisions on that alone.
“Something like that.” Hunter just shrugged not really caring much as he laid out on one of the sofas. He pulled out his phone, as if on instinct, and began searching for service. I knew very little about Max the malamute now that I thought about it. “He’s always been… Big Max.” Hunter mumbled a bit more before getting lost in some game installed on the device.
It was like we were dating all over again, hurray…
With the lights on, and the dogs giving me some space for once, I was able to look around. There were several Japanese styled statues around the bar. Sake bottles were between several of them. There was even a banner over the liquor cabinet behind the bar that was written in Japanese. I couldn’t make it out.
Several lucky cats were on the top shelf with strange raccoons near the bottom with massive testicles; to each their own I guess? Pictures and posters were on the walls. Varying from pop-culture anime (I assume) and what looked like old style historical Japanese pieces. Those were at least interesting. Slightly faded, old with a yellow hew to them. They might be actual pieces Max had bought online.
Junkyard was wanting to hang out with Hunter. It would be funny if it wasn’t so utterly sad. The Doberman soon discovering not to get between the German Shepherd and his phone. Hunter actually growling at Junkyard when the Doberman tried to lower it down so they could talk. Duncan was busy scrolling through the games at one of the consoles. At least this was a way to kill the day.
By myself…
I was checking out a picture of koi fish when I heard the heavy footsteps descending the stairs. I looked over to see the malamute and Auto coming down to join us. The two looked around before noting each and every person in the room. Auto gave a nod at that, heading over to the TV while the malamute just sort of stared at me, slack jawed. Maximus seemed rightly embarrassed with folded ears, unable to meet my eyes after catching up.
“Guess I’ve been found out.” He said to me as Auto broke off to see what the others were up too. The blue heeler quickly joined in on the game they were playing, a rather popular fps with building mechanics. “This is my… den.” Max just offered weakly, clearly bashful about it.
“How’d you manage that?” I had to ask. Wasn’t this part of the ski lodge after all?
“My family owns the place.” Max just shrugged. That… actually explained a lot. And with the malamute so close I could pick up a few things.
It was hard to distinguish the musty smell of this place and the malamute standing directly next to me. The large canine made me crane my neck to look up into his fluffy face. He looked like an overgrown husky as if someone had given him far too much kibble as a pup. This was my first time seeing or meeting a malamute before.
“It’s cool.” I half-lied. There was a lot of work he had put into this place and it showed. Max clearly had a passion for it. “It’s unique. I like it.” That might’ve been pushing it. It wasn’t like I hated it. It was just… weeb-y.
That seemed to brighten his mood greatly and those big triangular ears picked up and trained in on me. Max turned his full attention towards me and it reflected in his appearance. His whiskers bristled out, his curly tail began to wag slowly as his chest puffed out, shoulders back… Max was a rather impressive guy.
Larger than Auto, the slightly younger malamute had kept most of his muscle mass from what I could tell throughout the years. His fur was fluffy making him appear larger than he was. The almost rusty color fur blended well into the snowy white underbelly that ran under his arms, along his fingers and under his muzzle well. It looked like he was a white fur dog wearing a red fur jacket.
I had a habit checking out the unique fur pattern of these dogs I’ve been coming across so often. It was a bit remarkable how two similar breeds, even from the same litter, could look so different from one another. A part of me wished I could paint just so I could capture the rich flow of colors of his fur. It looked so soft...
“During fall and sometimes spring, things slow down here a lot. Gives me plenty of free time to just surf the web. Keep in touch with old army buds.” Max continued as he took a seat at the bar on one of the stools. I was surprised it could support his weight. I joined him.
The metal bar stool had comfy cushions on the top. It was the perfect size for me; the malamute on the other hand had to keep one foot on the ground to keep himself balanced.
I should’ve taken two seats away from him rather than right next to the large Malamute. Canines were very touchy feely and soon enough I could feel one of his legs bump against my own, his fingers inches toward my hand as he talked, turning his body to face me now. They were very eye contact focus unlike a lot of people (or Hunter). I doubt he even noticed he’d done any of it. It was so natural for most of them. To them, we humans were the odd ones. Barely hugging or touching. Getting offended if they sniffed us.
I could see Max wanted too. The way his nose twitched, how his muzzle was slowly inching closer towards me and the begging in those eyes. It was rather obvious once you realized the signs.
“Go ahead.” I ended up conceding, looking away as the dog eagerly moved his nose closer to give me a few sniffs. I could feel the rush of air around me as he inhaled my scent. I usually just kept my eyes closed but for some reason this time I watched the broad snout come right up to my face.
His black button nose twitched with the sniffs, inhaling a huge lung full again before panting a hot breath out. It washed over my cheek and I could smell what the malamute had for breakfast. A charming guy; I resisted the urge to roll my eyes at the thought as he turned the rest of the way towards me, facing me fully now.
With my permission given about the sniff, it was clear Maximus was warming up to me even more than he already had been. The guy had hugged me the very first time I met him, and nearly broke a rib with his strength. I didn’t want to think what he’d do to me now that I let him sniff me like that.
Or why I was blushing at the thought of it.
“I collected a bunch of this stuff where I was stationed at.” Max just went on, wagging an oversized tail as he smiled down at me. That broad muzzle splitting nearly in two as he did so. “Friends n’ the like just kept sending me stuff after that, from back then. The locals and our base were real friendly like with each other, was nice.”
The malamute just smiled softly at that, his eyes glistening over as he was lost in memories of it. It was funny to hear him call them locals like that but it was clear it was one of the best times of his life. The way his large tail swayed behind him lazily as he relived the time back in the military.
I recalled Auto had also been in the military though I wasn’t sure which branch or where he’d been stationed at. It was a bit of a pain, in a way. How little I knew about all the others, other than Hunter. Even with Buddy I had a few revelations just the other day learning about his mother and past. Stuff I should’ve known but never did.
I was kind of a shitty friend in that regard…
In a way I felt bad about it as the malamute went on talking about his time in the military and the friends he made. He had been one of the lucky ones not to see open combat. Stationed where he was for a more “peace keeper” role than anything else. I didn’t ask many question or probe too deep, lost in my own thoughts as he went on.
I tried to assure myself it just meant I had plenty of things to learn about the others. My eyes must’ve been glistening over at this point as soon enough the change of conversation caught my attention and nearly made me fall from my chair.
“Then King Yama comes down from his cloud and ends up breathing fire on them all.” The malamute voice brought me back and I just sort of looked at him.
“Uh, what?” I said utterly confused how our talk had gotten from his military days to what I could only assume was some sort of anime.
“In Tanuki No Ai.” Max just continued to smile. “Ero and his gang end up fighting the king of hell.” I was glad the malamute hadn’t been offended by my confusion; instead he ended up offering for me to come down later tonight to watch it with him.
Although it wasn’t the top thing I’d have like to do, it was an option for me to choose if nothing else came up. Or something worse. I politely said I’d see what I could do.
“If I got the time, sure.” I offered my best smile back.
“Great! I’ll be down here all night. Been meaning to catch up on the series.” The malamute just wagged, friendly enough. It wouldn’t be the worst option I’d have if I could stomach watching whatever this anime was about.
As if waiting for the opportunity for our conversation to come to an end, Duncan showed up. The pit bull took the other seat next to me, ignoring me as he looked past at the malamute.
“Barkeep!” Duncan barked making me wince slightly from the noise. “I need a drink!”
“Sake?” Max asked without even the slight hint of amusement to his joke. He apparently took his rice wine very seriously.
“I don’t need no horse piss.” Duncan only laughed making the other dog growl at the pit bull. With me between the two. I rather not be sandwiched between two big, strong, muscular canines like this. There were plenty of pornos I’d leave that too as I got up to move out of their way. “Hey, where you going.” Duncan had grabbed my arm making me stop.
“Oh, I just was going that away.” I gestured without much actual course to where I was going. I’d only agreed to come down here in the first place to kill time. I didn’t want to get killed while two alpha males duked it out in some basement in a ski lodge.
“Good, then you don’t mind joining me.” Duncan gave me a pull and I found myself sitting back down before I could properly form a complaint.
Max had gotten up from his seat, looping around the counter to get out a few drinks. The malamute shook a mixer in front of us, spinning it around and flipping it over one shoulder to catch before pouring out the drink. I didn’t know the malamute could mix drinks, it was actually rather fun watching him.
I clapped and he gave me a bow at that.
“Very impressive!” I smiled at him and got one in return, both his floppy ears standing up as his large tail wagged behind him knocking a few things over in the process. Duncan on the other hand just looked down at the drink in disgust.
“The fuck is this?” The pit bull growled glaring at the malamute.
“It’s a mojito.” Max just gave him a smug grin as he rested both hands on the bar. It shook the glass from the force of it.
“I didn’t ask for no fancy fag drink.” Duncan growled back. I wanted to point out there were far gayer drinks than a mojito but Max spoke first, his strong voice nearly booming in the small room we found ourselves in. His fur stood up a bit, jowls showing his teeth as with a single finger he slid the drink away from the pit bull… and right in front of me.
Once again, I ended up sort of just clapping impressed by it. The fact he slid it so effortless across the countertop without spilling a single drop? Color me impressed.
“The drink was for Douglas, not you.” Max just barked a laugh at the look that passed over Duncan’s face. The pit bull didn’t seem like he was used to being played with like this and just growled back standing up.
“I am a customer!” Duncan was taking this far more serious than I or Max was. I think it had something to do with the fact Max had just made a fool of the pit bull in front of me; canines did not like their place in the pack questioned. Let alone in front of well uh… former fuck buddies.
I once tried to rank each of the dogs to figure out where they all stood on the Alpha chain of command and who was where. It had gone rather well until I realized how many there were all together. Most of which, like Max, didn’t even live in The Kennels.
“Not a paying one.” Max crossed his arms and just gave Duncan another look. The malamute was clearly challenging the pit bull to do something about it.
Max was a big guy and even though Duncan was pure muscle, it would be a rather hard bet to place. I wasn’t sure and I just sort of took a long drink from my glass, focusing on the mint flavor over the two. Canines did this often enough I wasn’t put too put off by it, just glad no one had challenged me.
I had never figured out where exactly I was placed on the chart of Alpha I had made months ago. No one had ever challenged me before and I assumed that was because they knew where I was ranked or it was because I was a human. Thus, I didn’t even feel the need to be challenged. I was already outside the pack as they were concerned…
“Whatever.” Duncan just turned away, grumbling as he went over to the pool tables. Picking up a pool cue and breaking the already pre-set up triangle of pool balls. Duncan had put such force behind it there was an ear splitting crack as the cue ball hit the others. I winced at that as the balls went shooting around the table, several going in.
It had been a good break. I just wish it hadn’t broken my eardrum in the process.
Max rolled his eyes at that as he got another drink out. The malamute poured himself a drink from a ceramic vase into a traditional style saki cup. He did it with great finesse but ended up lapping at the cup with his tongue sort of ruining the vibe he’d been going for. I didn’t point it out.
“Want a sip?” Max asked notice me watching him. He must’ve assumed I had been looking at his drink and not the large malamute lapping at the saki like, well, a dog…
“I’ve never had saki before.” I admitted. I knew what it was and even how it was made, having watched a documentary once on it. I just never had a reason to go out and buy myself a bottle.
Max on the other hand whole face lit up at what I had said. “Never?” He handed me the plate like cup with one hand; it had been delicately balanced on a single finger with another supporting it. For such a big guy, Maximus was rather careful. It was nice to know as I took the glass with a thanks.
Only to realize not only was it the same glass Max had used but it was also the same serving the dog had been lapping at with his drooly tongue. At least it was alcohol; sure it would kill any germs I got from the canine.
I lifted it up a little with thanks before downing it in one gulp. And it tasted awful. I’ve had my fair share of drinks in my day but hell; this really did taste like horse piss; or what I’d assume it would taste like. I was able to keep a straight face, somehow, and just handed the cup back.
“Good, right?” The malamute just smiled at me. I just nodded trying not to wipe my tongue off on the counter top. That foul taste still lingered in the back of my throat and I was thankful I had a real man’s drink, a gay ass mojito, to wash it down with.
“It’s different.” I admitted. The look that passed over the malamute face broke my heart as if my words had broken his. “I like it though! I just never had the stuff before.” I quickly said lying my ass off to spare the canine his feelings. Max perked up fairly quickly at that.
“Oh, good. Good. I was worried there for a second.” He blushed, a light red burned underneath those white fur cheeks and in the inner white fur of his ears. It was cute. Big handsome guys being all shy like that had a special place in my heart, I won’t lie. “Did you want seconds…?”
“I need to finish though, first.” I quickly grabbed the drink he had made. “It was a gift. Be rude not too.” The malamute took a second on that. I just hoped he bought it. Max just nodded his head as he poured himself another drink the next second.
“I’m going to check on Duncan, to you know. Make sure he doesn’t punch a hole in the wall.” I got up with the drink, thanking the malamute again. I didn’t want to risk having to drink any more of that stuff while also trying to spare the poor guys feelings. This clearly was important to him and with the way Duncan had treated him, I felt for that.
Being an outsider in the group. I was all too aware of that. Though in my case it was being a human and in his it was his tastes and interests. Even small things like that, though important to the person, can be a divide that forms between others. A rift forming that takes work and effort to bridge. Only if the two wanted too that is…
Man, this drink must be going to my head as I wander over to the pit bull still grumbling.
“Up for a game?” I asked trying to keep it light, setting my drink to the side. The pit bull’s floppy ears perked up and he looked over at me. It took a few seconds before he responded. I could tell behind those eyes Duncan was seeing if I was about to try and trick him or was pulling his leg, the distrustful canine finally easing up a bit.
“Can’t stay away from me long, huh?” There was that cocky ass I knew. It was better than seeing him stewing over what had happened. I knew there was more to it between the dogs but I didn’t push it by asking. Sometimes it was best to let things naturally occur.
“Damn. You caught me. I was so looking forward to round two and oops, here I am with my pants still on.” I kept my voice down a bit as I spoke, making sure the heavy sarcasm to my tone made it perfectly clear to any eavesdroppers that I was kidding.
“That can be easily fixed.” Duncan just smirked as he began setting up a game for the two of us. The pit bull didn’t even finish the game he was playing, so I knew he enjoyed the company. Which I found a bit strange. Duncan had originally come down here with Junkyard and I sort of just tagged along with Hunter.
And here we were playing pool while the others did their own thing.
Hunter and Junkyard were still hanging out on the sofa in front of the TV. Something was on; I wasn’t paying too much attention to it. Max had headed over to join Auto; the blue heeler was busy in a game still trying to figure out the controls. I wanted to laugh at the older dog but I gave him credit for the fact he was trying to fit in with the younger dogs.
Then there was Duncan who had come over to hang out with us, or me? It was hard to tell. I didn’t want to seem arrogant enough to think the pit bull had come over for that sole purpose. Eying Junkyard still hanging out with Hunter, I could put two and two together fairly quick after a moments worth of thought.
Duncan was jealous. He was jealous his friend was hanging out with someone else and, from what I knew; Duncan didn’t know the others all too well. The only one he really knew was the human he’d fucked just this morning.
Not the best choice but, hey I was going to try to offer the olive branch of peace in return as the pit bull had just tried to do.
“Which am I?” I asked foolishly without thinking. “Solid or stripes?”
“You pick after you knock one in first.” Duncan took a second to give me a look as if thinking I was stupid. But he smirked then as if a light bulb had just turned on over his head. I already could see this was going to be trouble.
“Right.” I took another drink to prepare myself. More so to prepare myself to put up with the pit bull’s bullshit for the next couple of hours.
“How about we make this interesting?” The gray fur, white marking pit bull began. Even in the dim light I could see him smiling. I was just glad the lights were positioned over the tables so I could better see.
“What did you have in mind?” I asked innocently enough, batting my eyes at him. “Going to knock my balls around?”
That made him growl. Then Duncan chuckled. “Let’s make a bet.”
“What’s on the table?” I asked knowingly, leaning over it a bit to look at the canine. I was sure no one else was looking so the fact the front of my shirt was down a bit was enough to get the pit bull riled up. I might be pushing it a bit far but, admittedly, it was fun seeing the disgruntled angry canine ease the fuck up.
Duncan snorted at that just giving me a look somewhere between annoyance and lust. It was a funny sight that I ended up laughing at easing up now. I rather not push the guy too far. Even if it was fun.
“Winner decides?” Duncan just showed his teeth.
“Yeah, no. I don’t take bets I don’t know what’s on the table.” And I buttoned the front of my shirt. I turned to go as Duncan quickly came around the table.
“Wait, wait.” The pit bull glanced over at the others, lowering his voice low. I felt that broad snout rub the side of my face as he whispered the words into my ear. “BJ.”
“No thanks.” I smirked at that, Duncan didn’t ease up or push away. Instead I found his chest pushing up against my own as the pit bull growled now in my ear, his hand tightening on my shoulder.
“I mean… whoever wins get a Blowjob from the other.” Duncan was clearly annoyed that he had to spell it out. I found it to my own great amusement that he did. He was a horny dog as I figured.
“Is that what you meant?” I asked pushing him back with a hand, keeping my voice low but casual as to not draw suspicion from the others. “I didn’t know that’s what it stood for.” I said once more batting my eyes at him.
Duncan realized what I was doing at that. His growl only increased. Alright Douglas, pull back before he bites your face off.
“Deal.” I offered a hand before pulling it away, forgetting the custom. “Fuck, sorry. I meant…” Then I was the one to get frazzled. It was hard forgetting such a basic tradition to do not wanting to offend Duncan. Most canines didn’t shake hands due to the past.
The pit bull just looked at me now more amused than insulted.
“You try hard.” Duncan noted as he offered his hand to me. I gave him a look and only when he nodded did I take it in turn giving it a good solid shake. “Dude! Offensive!” He said far louder than I wish he had.
The others looked over at him, then at me and then at the fact we were shaking hands. Then they all turned back to what they were doing; other than Junkyard who just had a hard on for hating me, no one else seemed bothered by it.
“See, no one cares.” Duncan just grinned at me, flushing the way I was… he still hadn’t let go of my hand. I could feel his strong fingers squeezing mine just enough to be uncomfortable, I tried not to show it.
“You know he dies in that movie.” I pointed out, figuring Duncan wouldn’t get the reference.
“Still the best character. The playful asshole that goes out with a bang.” Duncan just played along to my surprise, he still hadn’t let go of my hand. Rather than trying to pull it free or out muscle the pit bull, which was just stupid. I changed tactics.
“It was more like a… whimper.” I said stepping closer, closing the distance between the two of us. I had to stand on my tip toes to say the last part into the canine’s ear, breathing out afterwards as my fingers rubbed over the pit bulls hand.
Duncan froze. His eyes widened a bit as that cocky expression on his face faltered, slipping away. Before being replaced as he licked over my face making me gag and pull back.
“You win, fuck.” I just grumbled wiping the drool off my face as I reached over to grab a pool cue for myself.
“That fast?” Duncan almost sounded disappointed. He stuck a thumb in his shorts, pulling them down enough for me to see that creamy color of white fur of the pit bulls groin. “Get started then.”
“Not so fast.” I laughed thoroughly at how ridiculous Duncan could be, rolling my eyes at him. The pit bull stuck his tongue out at me. It was broad, wide and was slightly grooved making me blush a bit; I was wondering what it was like to get a BJ from a canine. Hunter was never interested in the “wet stuff” of sex… that had left very little else. “You got to beat me at pool for that. If you can.”
Duncan growled at that as he readjusted the balls on the table before taking his place for the first shot.
“Going first?” I asked, giving him a look.
“Just setting things up for you, pup.” Duncan just chuckled. Was it because I was smaller than the others they kept calling me pup? I didn’t exactly get that. I just shrugged it off though as I did most of their remarks, at least this one didn’t seem insulting. Almost playful. Still a bit insulting to be frank.
“Big strong Duncan going to bust his balls for me. How sweet.” I just took a drink, leaning back looking over the table before up at the pit bull.
Duncan just looked me right back in the eye. “And you loved it.” And with that there was another loud crack as the cue ball hit the others scattering them over the table. It was a decent enough break. I’ll give him that; the canine had the power behind the shot something I couldn’t match.
But I didn’t plan to lose out on a bet as I walked over. I chalked the cue pool in hand as I looked the table over already seeing three, no four possible shots I could make. From there I thought about where the cue ball would be after each shot and where all the balls were located at. Picking solids based on where the balls were at as I went around to Duncan’s side.
I nudged him over, or tried too. I sort of just ended up pushing my hip against the pit bulls side.
“Haven’t even won yet and your already back up into me.” Duncan laughed as he moved over, just enough for me to squeeze in.
“That’s not… how a Bj works. You know that, right?” I had to ask looking back at the pit bull. He seemed a bit flustered by the comment. “You have had one before, right? Or I should be saying, you have given head right?”
“No!” Duncan growled loudly making me wince a bit at the bark. “Not some faggot.”
I almost laughed at that, feeling a bit more pity for him now at that. I wasn’t about to lose but now that I knew he wasn’t much of one to give head, I didn’t find the same enthusiasm in it. I wasn’t about to teach some guy how to give head…
“Right. Right. Keep telling yourself that, pillow biter.” I couldn’t help myself at the comment and ended up almost jumping up onto the table as a strong hand grabbed my ass, hard. I glared at the pit bull as he growled back.
“You’re one to talk.”
“Everything ok over there?” Auto spoke up, trying to pause the online game to see if he needed to come over. Max quickly told him you can’t pause an online game. I had to frown about that watching the blue heeler quickly drop back down to grab the controller, cursing loudly as he got back into the game.
“We’re fine.” I gave Duncan an elbow hit to the side making him grunt but otherwise stay as close as he was.
“Relax, pup.” The growl that followed was far more… sexual. “You won’t have to worry about me giving.” And with that he pat my back hard. I glared at that as I leaned down to take the shot.
The stick hit and the ball smoothly rolled into the hole after I’d called it; not wanting Duncan to be mad that I hadn’t. Some people get super touchy about that. I remembered in college I had gotten over a fight over such a silly thing. The rules stating you have to call the hole before making a shot or some bullcrap like that.
“Lucky shot.” Duncan grumbled folding his arms as he watched.
“Beginner’s luck, right?” I just smile knowingly as I moved around to take the next shot. Leaning over the table a bit as I lined it up before knocking the ball in a slight curve around another and into the hole, once more calling it out.
The smile began to fade off Duncan’s face then. It was good to be the one to wipe that smug look away. I took another shot, this time putting a little pizzazz into it making the ball hop up over the other and into the hole. I was sure the pit bull was slack jaw at that.
“Did I forget to mention we had a pool table in the dorms?” I asked chalking up again, teasing the tip of that pool cue as I looked over at the pit bull glaring at me. “Yeah… there wasn’t really much to do when it rained and so we just stayed in. Playing pool. All day and night.” I shrugged as I got back into position for my next shot.
I think it’s called a hustle or something like that in Nevada. I just called it fun as I made another shot and moved around to take the next even before the ball went in. I might’ve been acting a bit too smug as I positioned myself over the table for the next.
Bending over, shaking my ass as I stuck the tip of my tongue out, closing one eye… and felt a rather large bulge push against my butt cheeks between the fabric of my pants. The pit bull didn’t stop there as he rested his bulk on my back; the weight of him pushed me down a bit more against the table as he reached one arm past me.
“Here, let me help you with that…” The pit bull breathed hotly against my face, making me shudder involuntarily. The movement only grinded my ass back against the canine that seemed to be just as surprised by it as I was. “Fuck, pup. Easy there.”
Duncan didn’t ease up. In fact he pressed even closer as I felt that hot breath against my ear now. Even with the drink, I knew the flush on my face wasn’t from the alcohol as I heard those lips smack wetly; following by an audible swallow as the pit bull drooled behind me.
Duncan was a large in charge kind of dog that was so far away from my previous relationship I couldn’t help but find some attraction in him as noted from our previous encounter. The canine on the other hand seemed just as interested feeling that large bulge grinding up between my rear as the pit bull all but dry humped me in the room.
“You need to ease up.” I growled back keeping my voice low as I tried to make the shot. Only for Duncan to begin ghosting me from behind. One hand placed over mine and the other around my waist, pulling me back even closer to him. The pit bull did not hesitate that time to openly growl into my ear as he grinded.
Problem was? We weren’t alone there.
“The hells going on?” It was Auto who spoke up. The blue heeler coming over to investigate what the two of us were doing. For a second I thought he was about to rip my ear off, instead he rounded on the pit bull who finally backed away from me.
I’m not proud to say I moved around the table away from the blue heeler as Auto closed in on Duncan. Auto got right up in his face growling at the pit bull who didn’t seem intimidated in the least by the older canine. The blue heeler had on an open shirt and long shorts, puffing out his chest as he stood up in front of Duncan. The two were nearly the same height though their size differed.
Duncan was far more… meaty, whereas Auto had a good heft of the other kind of weight. Auto didn’t even bother hiding his belly; in a way I was impressed by the older canine’s confidence. He held the weight well. Duncan on the hand was a sculpture of pure muscle.
“What? We’re just playing a game.” Duncan just shrugged his heavy shoulders shaking his head side to side. He didn’t at all seem worried about the Alpha getting up in his face. Something the other dogs seem to take notice of too.
Junkyard was the only one who seemed happy to see Duncan call Auto out like this. Hunter looked worried, though he normally did. And then there was Max, the large malamute just frowning at the pair. Out of everyone in the room, Max was the only one who’d be able to pull the two dogs off each other if it came down to that. Something Max seemed to be very aware of as he slowly got up himself, though he kept his distance.
“Didn’t look like no game to me.” Auto just growled back at the smart ass comment Duncan had made. Auto’s eyes looked over at me and I quickly averted my gaze to anything else in the room.
“Just bumping some balls together with our sticks.” Duncan said crudely, the lewd undertone clear to the rest of us as the pit bull didn’t even back down an inch. In fact, Duncan adjusted himself right in front of Auto. “Pup likes big balls, what can I say.”
I went to great extremes not to toss one of the pool cues at Duncan for that one.
“I think you should let him choose what he likes and doesn’t like, boy.” Auto tone was clear as he spoke and the change up from pup made me take notice. Auto was pissed; though Duncan had gone too far dry humping on me like that. I wasn’t sure why the blue heeler was getting this angry now. I could only guess it was ‘cause he was Alpha of the pack and needed to assert some sort of dominance when Duncan acted up.
Auto’s bared his teeth, his lip quivering as he held back the low growl forming in his throat. His fur was standing up a bit and it looked like Auto was just waiting for Duncan to throw the first punch.
“I didn’t hear him complainin’ none.” Duncan just growled back now, showing his teeth. The pit bull was such a large headed guy his teeth seemed far more imposing, the first time I had the misfortune to be viewing them like this.
“Maybe you just didn’t give him a chance too.” Auto jabbed a finger against Duncan’s chest making Hunter gasp loudly. I frowned at the German shepherd; it wasn’t that big of a deal for fuck sake. Duncan just growl low at that, pushing his chest back against that finger and getting right back up into Auto’s face.
The two dogs stared at each other, just growling low. It made sweat trickle down my back as I finally looked over at Max who seemed to catch my look. “Do something…” I mouth, looking back at the two several times with my eyes trying to get my point across.
Max seemed to get it, finally coming over. Placing a hand gently on each of their shoulders, the large malamute pulled the two apart before anyone had a chance to throw a punch or worse. Both dogs stepped away from one another or were forced too. Max was a strong guy.
“This is fucking lame anyway.” Duncan just shrugged it off turning away and heading out the stairs without looking back at any of us. Auto was about to follow but Max help him firmly in place.
Max just shook his head and Auto rolled his eyes, crossing his arms.
“Fine. Whatever.” Auto grumbled, looking over at me. His face relaxed a bit and he let out a heavy breath, shaking his own head now. “I need some air.” Auto just moved past the malamute and up the stairs.
Hunter and Junkyard exchanged a look before getting up and coming over. Or rather Hunter came over to check up on me to see if I was ok. I could only imagine what it must’ve looked like to the others with no context given. Duncan just grinding against me like that as we were trying to have a friendly game of pool. It was a given Auto had to step up and do something.
“You ok?” Hunter asked coming over. He took my hands in his own, sniffing me over quickly before looking back up the stairs as if worried Duncan was going to come back down any minute. Junkyard just rolled his eyes.
“Like he isn’t used to getting his ass grinded against.” Junkyard snorted a laugh, finding his own joke to be hilarious. The dog’s ears kept twitching though and I should’ve left it alone, but couldn’t.
“Jealous?” I smirked at Junkyard making the Doberman glare at me. “I got more action from Duncan than you have all vacation.” And I shrugged shaking my head.
Junkyard snarled viciously at that, shoving Hunter and me aside as he quickly headed up the stairs. The room shook as the door slammed shut behind him.
“Dude.” Hunter frowned at me now.
“What? The guys an asshole.” I gestured at the Doberman. “It was just a joke and look how far it went.” I rolled my eyes looking back at the German shepherd. Hunter still just gave me a look.
“What?” I finally just asked getting annoyed. Hunter had never been good at explaining things.
“You do know Duncan’s Junkyards boyfriend, right?” That… that made my face fall.
“Uh… what?” My voice caught in my throat coming out more of a squeak than anything else. It made the canines sensitive ears twitch. “Junkyard and Duncan are a… couple?” I knew the two were close but I thought they were friends! If they’re a couple then what Duncan and I had done…
Oh no…
Hunter was talking. Talking about their relationship I was sure. How it wasn’t the best, it was complicated and that Duncan had come here much like Hunter and I had come here in hopes of fixing their relationship. Unaware that, just like Hunter and I, Duncan had cheated on his man. Like I had cheated on mine... Together.
Hunter excused himself to go check on Junkyard. Only half-way up the stairs did the German shepherd stop to check his phone. And just like that he had forgotten all about the Doberman. Not sure if it was a text or if he got wifi for a split second or what, Hunter was already heading out.
“Well, that could’ve gone better…” I frowned looking at the exit. We had just come down here to chill and try and kill the day while the storm continued outside. I wasn’t expecting, well, this!
“Anime night?” Max suggested making me jump. Fuck, I forgot all about the malamute standing not even a couple feet away. The malamute had been very respectful, waiting for us to finish our conversation before speaking up. “It’s a bit early but… well… we are alone now.” Max scratched his fluffy cheek looking up the stairs with me.
The two of us seeming to agree that this day was basically done with as it was.
“You know what? What the hell, let’s anime this bitch up!” I just laughed as I finished my drink.
Max clapped his heavy hands together, wagging his tail before heading up the stairs. For a second I thought he was going to head on out too but he just locked the door, turning off the lights and coming back down.
“I can’t see in the dark.” I felt the need to point out, frowning slightly as I sort of just reached out for him. I felt his fluffy chest push against my fingers as if the malamute wanted me to pet him. Or for me to know he was there.
“Don’t worry, once the shows start up you’ll be fine. Here…” Max took my hand gently with his own. For such a large guy, he had a very kind, soft touch. As if he were afraid he might break me on accident. He led me over to the farthest sofa in front of a TV and even helped me find the cushion.
Once I was sitting on it he headed over on heavy footsteps to the bar. He was getting something or other before coming back over. I felt his leg brush against mine and pulled back, giving him room. I felt his tail wag in my face, Max nearly hitting me with it. Max didn’t seem to mind any as he bent over, mooning me I was sure though I couldn’t see, and set things up in the dark.
“I figured if you like the Tanuki No Ai series you’ll like Kill La Love.” The TV turned on and I was able to make out Max’s face finally as he joined me on the sofa.
The rustic red fur malamute face was lit up, his tail thumping happily at his side as he stared at the screen. The white of his fur seemed to glow in the light of the TV in front of them. Max was already talking about the show even before it started.
The malamute went over the art team, how the anime was based off a manga but because one of the lead characters died that the fans had liked they actually ended up rewriting the story to fit her character better in. From the architecture used and what part of Japan they were into even understanding several of the kanji, this guy was full of random tidbits of information involving the show.
“The dub doesn’t use the right translations here.” Max just went on as he finally rested back, looking over at me after the first episode came to an end and an extremely cheesing music number began playing with the credits over it.
“Right…” I just nodded along looking at the music video. “Why are they in present day uh… Japan? Instead of in the crazy cyberpunk world they were in?” I had to ask, overall ignoring the rest of what Max had been talking about. Everything went over my head and I was still trying to figure out how clothes made you more powerful by making you more naked.
This anime was clearly written by an uncomfortably straight guy.
“It’s based off the cover art from the manga.” Max explained thoroughly not even missing a beat as I brought up another two questions. He answered each politely as he’d done before. Never once did the canine seem bothered by my somewhat inane questions. Asking questions about how such things were possible rather than what the show was trying to lead too.
“Aliens.” Max finally just finished with, with a nod. “Oh, sorry. Spoilers, I guess?” He sort of shrugged. “It varies depending on which one you’re watching.”
“Which one?” I don’t know why I asked or even cared. Maybe because Max had been friendly since I met the guy and this was clearly something he enjoyed. The others didn’t seem at all interested in it. Hell, Auto didn’t even know how to play fort day.
“Well the series has been remade like three times. There’s two different manga and don’t even get me started on the books.” Max rolled his eyes as he rested back, crossing a leg and facing somewhat more towards me.
“I won’t.”I rather not get him started on that. As much as I was enjoying this surprisingly, I did not want to open that whole can of worms. I could only take so much at a time. Max had been very respectful about that in fact.
Max had made it clear from the start this was his hobby and I was welcome to join him or not. He had made it clear from the start that’s what we would be doing together. He didn’t force me into it or even try to convince me to go along with it, like Duncan had. Max had made the offer and I had accepted it. Easy, peasy, no ulterior motive here…
“You cold?” Max asked glancing over at me. I shook my head. “Oh…” The dog seemed to frown at that, his ears splaying out a bit.
“It’s actually kind of nice down here.” Maybe a little nippy but that wasn’t bad fully clothed as I was. I’ve had far worse. “Plus your such warm company it’s easy not to be.” I playfully added with a smile; ok that might’ve been the drink talking again.
Max had brought over a couple fruity drinks for us to share. He popped another open for me using a dull nail and handing it over. It was in Japanese and I couldn’t read it; I just gave him a look. Despite the low light, the canine seemed to be able to see fine. In fact he had helped me out a couple of times getting my drink, as if encouraging me to take another drink.
“It’s alcoholic. Sugary. And delicious!” Max just wagged, seeming to feel the buzz a bit himself. He scooted a bit closer as the third episode picked up. “This is where things really hit the fan.”
“Oh, cool.” I added looking down at the leg now bumping against my own. Max wasn’t exactly a small guy and his presence took my full focus away from the show playing. Not that it had been that captivating to begin with. Unlike the malamute.
“Yeah. It all began slow and such but now. Bam! Everything about to go to shit, it’s great.” Max just smiled as he rested back. He yawned loudly and for a second I thought I was boring him until I felt his arm wrap around me in the most cliché gesture I had ever seen in my entire life.
“Uh…” I added feeling the furry arm behind my head and his hand on my shoulder. “You like the show?” I asked as if trying to change the subject. “Good anime, right?”
“Oh, it’s one of the worse out there!” Max just smiled though looking down at me, his tail continued to lazily thump in a wag at his side. “The fans love it though. It’s so over the top, hitting all the classic clichés that it’s sort of hard not to love.” And the canine leaned down a bit, slightly pushing against me with the gesture as he pointed at the screen.
“See we call that Tsundere. She acts like she hates the main character, right? Well she secretly loves him!” Max had all but forgone the spoiler territory as he just continued to blurt out one thing after another. “And then there’s the secretly hot librarian girl who just has to take off her glasses and undo her hair…”
“Straight men must love this.” I added feeling Max scoot an inch closer to me, pushing me against the armrest now. His finger twirled on my shoulders, catching my sleeve and pulling it up to scratch at my skin absentmindedly.
“A lot of guys do, yeah.” Max just nodded before looking back down at me. I was looking up at him, from the close proximity I’m sure he could smell my breath.
The malamute’s ears folded back as in the dim light I could see the white of his cheeks suddenly turn very red. He scooted back giving me plenty of space as he cleared his throat.
“Sorry.” He said not making eye contact. “I uh… was just really excited for the show, see.” He stuttered a bit, it was kind of cute the way he fumbled with the words. “And I wasn’t sure if you were cold. And like you know us dogs, hah hah…” His nervous laugh made me laugh a bit.
I set my drink down, scooting a little closer. “Your fur really is soft…” I brought up for no particular reason. How much alcohol was in those drinks? “Can I touch it?” I asked feeling even more foolish.
“Oh… well… sure!” Max tail thumped loudly as he scooted just close enough for me to reach over to touch his arm. His fur really was soft. It felt like cotton candy sliding between my fingers, without the sugar I mean. Maybe it felt more like warm silk. Or chocolate.
Man I was feeling those drinks.
And I giggled. Max probably thought it was because of his fur and not the buzz that was ringing in my head. Then again, it might’ve been! It was just so freaking soft that I moved my other hand over and nearly spilled the can I was still holding.
The malamute chuckled at that, catching it in time and setting it near the TV.
“There. No messes downstairs, uh… again.” He blushed. It was cute. Max was a very cute handsome fluffy dog that I wanted to pet.
“Can I pet you?” I had to ask, not wanting to miss this chance.
“Oh uh, sure. Go ahead.” And Max lowered his head down. I didn’t hesitate to take him up on the offer, rubbing over both ears with my hands and scratching all the fluffiness that was his face. It looked like a lions mane there was so much floof! “Did Hunter never let you pet him…?”
Max asked though I wasn’t sure why.
“Not really, no.” I reluctantly forced myself to stop squishing that face and ease off the military dog; I’m sure Max knew a hundred and one ways to kill me from that position alone. “He never really liked being touched. It’s like why we broke up!” I hiccupped. “If I had a cute handsome overly fluffy boof as my boyfriend! Like you. I would want to pet and touch him constantly, you know!”
“Ah, I see…” Max tail was thumping loudly on the sofa. I wondered why he was so happy in that moment. “You can… pet me, if you like. I mean I know I’m not like, you know, your boyfriend or nothing but like, I can make do.” Max was blushing. His ears were back. This oversized malamute looked like a puppy wanting attention.
It was my civic duty as a man to give him said pets!
I think I sort of crawled up on top of him, sort of. It was hard to tell. All I remember was feeling him shift under me as I sort of sat and stood on one of his thighs as I found my hands rubbing over his exposed chest.
When had Max taken his shirt off? Or maybe I helped him with it? I briefly recalled doing something like that. Looking down I noticed, no. I had taken my own shirt off.
I shook the thought away, getting lost in the feel of that fluffy warm fur. It was so clean and well trimmed. Max took great care of himself. And that body! I couldn’t really see it well through his thick fur but I could feel it. My fingers greedily touching and petting, rubbing and basically groping the canine’s chest as I felt him up making me wonder why any straight man wanted boobs when you could get these solid pecs! I wanted to mush my face between them.
“It’s just so warm. And soft. You really are such a handsome dog.” And his tail thumped louder at that as he looked away from me. I could see he was blushing as he lifted both arms up as if to stop me but having no strength to do so. I was sure if we weren’t on the sofa he’d have been laying on his back as I rubbed his belly “like the big sweet puppy dog you are.”
I’m not sure if I thought or said that last part out loud. Embarrassed from either scenario, I just wanted to bury my face in his chest and pretend it never happened.
So, I sort of just did. Max didn’t stop me. I’m sure he was watching my every move as I laid out on his front, petting over that fur before just sort of going for it. Holding both his sides with my hands I just kind of motor boating the dog’s pecs through that thick fluffy fur. My fingers run up through that fur as I kept my face there, all the way up to feel those big nipples on each of them.
Teasing and playing with them until it elicited a soft whine from the big canine who ended up laying out on the sofa and taking me with him. I laid between his legs, over his stomach and chest looking down into that face.
I’m not sure why I grabbed his wrists with my hands, my fingers barely fit around them as I held them down behind the canine’s head leaning over to smile down at him. I was sitting in his lap, the canine was too large for me to actually just lean over and so I had to position him the way I could.
“You really are one handsome dog.” I smiled at his face. I’m sure he could smell the alcohol on my breath. Max didn’t seem to mind as he watched me with those large eyes, both his ears perked up as I made my next move.
Petting over the side of his face, I turned it to the left so I could turn to the right. And plant a wet kiss on those lips. For a split second my mind came back enough to tell me to stop, that this wasn’t right and that Max wouldn’t enjoy it.
Then the surging mass of his tongue filled my mouth, both arms wrapping around me and I soon found the malamute hugging me against that furry chest as we kissed. My world flipped upside down and soon enough I was pinned against the sofa as the panting malamute murred above me.
He was a big guy and I soon found that I couldn’t see anything other than him. Max’s panting, smiling face just stared down at me as the tip of his tongue curled as the heat in the room began to grow hotter and warmer from our combined body heat.
“I really shouldn’t make a mess down here, again.” Max swallowed loudly, whining the words out softly.
“OH… Uh…” I said delicately sitting up a little between the legs straddling my sides. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean too…” I added not looking at him now.
“I assume we can’t use your room…” Max was thinking about it, rubbing his chin before looking back down at me. His face twisted in a smirk. “I guess you’ll be rooming with me tonight.” And before I could protest I felt my whole body being scooped up as the Malamute ran towards the stairs, taking two at a time.
I just buried my face in that fluffy chest trying to forget the world outside of him.
